The entrance to the return for trailers was blocked with a big truck that was returned and parked blocking the area , so I had to go around the buildings to get to the return area for trailers. With a 10 foot truck and towing trailer, I booked a a 10 x 10' storage space in Bolingbrook Illinois. After payment, it showed that they made the reservation in a different city and a smaller unit. The first representative said she could not cancel the incorrect Location contract. She told me to go ahead and book the correct location of Bolingbrook Illinois and that I would have to drive to the other city to make the cancellation. Later I attempted to speak to a second representative. This representative stated that she would be able to send a message to the incorrect location to have them cancel the contract of the wrong location. After I booked and paid for the contract for bowlingbrook, I received an email stating that my Bolingbrook contract was canceled. I had to call a third customer service representative and tell them to cancel once again the incorrect location. She was able to cancel the contract for me. By that time I decided to no longer do business with U-Haul storage. I found another company that was half the price and easier to manage making reservations with.Keith T. | Online Move In

I was torn with some of these reviews. The van was clean, customer service was very good and helpful. However we were frustrated due to the problem that we had with our door that put us about 4.5 hours behind on our trip to get our daughter back to school and in turn missed out on activities planned at her college. I understand that things do happen but at no point after needing to have road side assistance twice were we offered any sort of compensation or discount for our time, frustration etc.JEANETTE D.

Mike was super fantastic but didn't have nearly enough help. I was there at a super busy time on a Sunday morning and he was running around trying to help as many people as possible. I had a reservation with the UHAUL in Romeoville, IL and called 2 days before to confirm. Flew in from TN and was told the day of that the truck was no longer available. I was sent to a different Naperville location than above. They didn't have the truck either. Took a chance and went to the UHAUL where we actually have our storage unit and they happened to have one available for my 1 way trip to MI. What am f'in hot mess you guys are. If it wasn't for luck, I would have flown in and been shit out of luck and unable to get my daughter moved to college. Do better UHAUL. The tram at the Naperville location above were kind and helpful. Outside of that, I cannot in good faith recommend UHAUL.DAVID B.

The van I rented had someone's mask left behind and the inside of windshield wasn't clean. A little better attention to detail is all. Approx 2-2.5 weeks prior to my move i RESERVED 2 10x10 storage units at the Plainfield facility, I filled out paperwork and was given some instruction on what to expect. The young man at the counter told me not to come back until the day of my move so my free month would start on that day. June 22 came and the movers and I worked all morning. I got in my car followed by the moving truck. When we got to the facility i was told they did not have my original 2 reservations, only the one I made the day or two prior thinking I needed more space, I was horrified since I had to be out of my house and close on my sale by 6/28. My entire house was in this truck. The movers moved ALL my things into one unit since it was climate controlled. Meanwhile the manager said there was nothing he could do about this situation. He gave me an outiside unit, which I accepted since I had no choice. I will never recommend this facility again. Why take reservations (they had just given mine away) if you aren't going to honor them. I did everything they asked, Moving is stressful enough without this facing you at the end, I did call the national U-Haul office and spoke to Laura in customer service. She was friendly and helpful. She was sending a notice about my complaint to the manager of the Plainfield facility (which I said would do no good since he allready told me there was nothing he could do) and to someone at the U-Haul National offices. Here I was at 73 years old, moving all my things and trusting U-Haul to take care of them, and U-Haul couldn't even keep track of my reservation, let alone honor them. I will now have to hire the movers again to move half of my things out of this unit and into another one that is also climate controlled. I am on social security and this move was very expensive, let alone paying the movers twice. All in all I was handled poorly and am not happy about it. The snow was was piled in front of the unit, making access difficult. The smooth floor of the unit was then quite slippery. On 2 trips to the facility, the driveway was blocked with trucks. When moving out of the storage we asked if we could bring in a container and movers. We were told we could. We paid to have a container brought in and we paid in advance for movers. On the day of the move the manager recinded the approval and we lost about $300.00. We had to move out of the storage in our cars which took 2 days. i made reservation of 2 units of 10*15 a week ago before august 23, then my husband called 800 to add 1 more unit of 10*10 on top of confirmed preior reservation. however on august 23 4:30pm when i called Plainfield office to triple confirmed the reservation i was told they LOST one 10*15! And it was so close to five clock there is no way to reach out other available facility. on our moving day, it ended up multi small units to make up the size we need and one is not climate controled. i am worried the extra hours we work on the loading/unloading and the safety of my household stored.Jojo A. | First Impressions
