Regarding customer service and respect Kayvon works at the 838 market street Paterson location. He made this experience very exhausting. He was not professional at all and he had many issues with everything possible for this rental. I made reservations online and the rental I was told to pick up was not available they could not find the key. After going ahead and giving me another rental and he had many issues charging me and when I brought the equipment back he still had an issue. He kept laughing at the situation. He was joking and very disrespectful . I will never rent here again.Camillia R.

The experience has been of the most strange - I gave a ton of lee-way for the COVID issues and supply chain / employee shortages, etc. Here is where we are now: After 1) meeting with manager in Totowa to discuss pricing; 2) I called a few weeks later to schedule and could not because the employee quit; 3) arranged for install online and then received a call 4) then scheduled the install for weeks in advance in Saddle Brook 5) later in the waiting period I upgraded the sale to include the electrical wring to be installed at the same time 6) I confirmed it could be installed all together 7) I called the day before the scheduled appointment and spoke with Saddle Brook manager. She said the appointment was cancelled. 8) she then called Paterson and said to me they can help me and to go there. 9) I arrived there after I called to confirm and they installed the hitch. I asked for the electrical wiring to be installed and he said he needed to order it. The Flushing U-Haul was to deliver the correct wiring and it would be that day. 10) I called a few times since then and no one has picked up the phone in Paterson. 11) I tried to schedule this online but got confused. 12) I called and spoke to U-Haul at headquarters and he said it would be soon they would call. 13) I have not received the call from them. Would like to thank David again for coming out and taking care of me with the hook up to my truck (which with the safety chains can be a bit challenging) and the moving equipment on Labor Day to make my return easy. Kayvon did an excellent job installing a hitch for my car. When things did not go as planned, he found an alternate solution and communicated well throughout the process.Eric S.
Overall, the uhaul experience was not good due to cancellations, moving locations of appointments, and never being able to get through to the direct stores and being transferred over and over again. It was very frustrating and spent many hours on hold waiting to talk to someone.John G.
Truck was in very bad condition, no brakes, steer wheel system didn't work, in the city wasn't possible to make a turns and on the highway truck couldn't go straight! Not safe and I'll report it to DOT.DANILO S.

I had a very easy, no hassle experience. Kayvon, the gentleman that helped me, was polite and helpful. My hitch was installed without a hitch (ha!). He also helped me install my bike rack without charge, since it was a 60lb rack. I want to make sure his managers are paying attention to the great service. I had asked to charge me for that help but he was unable and I hadn't cash on hand. Great service at this location, and thanks to Kayvon and his associate on hand. As for the location facility, a bench to sit and wait would be helpful. Other than that, thank you for the attention and professionalism.KRISTIN S.

The gasoline marker when taking the truck out did not match the paper that I was given. When I returned the truck with the same amount of gas, I was charged for 2 gallons of gas. The truck was not pulled out for me even though I reserved it online. I was supposed to get a 4 hour rental and instead I got a 3 hour rental.YU Z.

My entire experience with Uhaul yesterday was not only negative, but also misogynistic and insulting. I had reserved a 15' truck at another location in Paterson. When I arrived, I was informed they did not have a truck and they couldn't do anything for me. With no help, I called around to 5 other places until I found a place with trucks. After confirming they had a 15' truck available, I drove the 10 minutes over there. Upon arrival I was told they had no 15' truck, or 10' truck available and the associate said (in a very demeaning voice) "I bet you cannot drive a 26' truck. That is all I can offer you". Actually, I can. I have driven a 35' RV for a month across the country. Do not assume I cannot do something because I am a woman. Give me the truck. Also, you assured me only 10 minutes ago you had both 10's and 15''s! Upon return with said truck (After driving only 14 miles and returning it early) I was told I would have to pay $18 for gas because I did not put half a gallon in it. This man also made a comment about how I probably had a bad experience driving a 26' truck in the rain. Again, why judge me on that when I made absolutely no mention about it being a problem at all or did I bring it back with any damage. .I would not recommend Uhaul (if I reserve something well in advance, you better have it available for me. And if you don't, and you know you don't have it, then figure out a replacement and let me know so I do not waste my time) nor would I recommend 838 Market Street in Patterson NJ OR the vendor at 1035 Main Street!Cynthia M.

There was only 1 employee handling the front desk and distribution of equipment. We had to wait 30 minutes just for our turn. Not employees fault. He did the very best he could. Place needs more staff.Bruce B.

I had a guaranteed reservation for a van and was sent to this location which 30+ minutes from my home. When I got there i was told there was no van for me so i could either go to queens (during rush hour which would have been over an hour away) or take a small truck. If you could have been more honest that you did not have a van i could have either gone to Nyack or Nanuet to pick up a truck which is 10 minutes from my home or reserved with another company. I felt i was misled by the Uhaul dispatcher and was never going to get a van. So this is not necessarily the fault of this location but of Uhaul. Beyond that the experience was good but i will not use Uhaul again given the â€œbait and switchâ€ nature of the transaction.MICHAELA A.

I literally moved 0.6 miles and made three trips back and forth. I was charged for 16 miles. I was never told to check the mileage on the truck before I left. I trusted the correct mileage was written down by the worker before I left. Instead I got charged for mileage I didn't put on the truck. I am very disappointed especially since mileage costs more on the weeknds.SANDRA C.
