One of the stripes on the auto transport were not usable and had to return it. I explained the situation to the check person in at the counter they claimed it was my fault for not inspecting the stripes and therefore I was charged. They took the trailer out of service in the end. There was no customer service here today. The location is great , but the check-in process is confusing . When you make a reservation it isn't clear that you need an "alternate contact" and then when you check in, it's not clear what alternate contact means (apparently emergency contact)? I rented a 10' truck, showed up on time, and authorized my rental on the app. While it was authorizing I was instructed to get into the truck and familiarize myself with the controls. Which I did do. Once authorization came through, I was instructed to enter the office and get the key. I waited a very long time to get my key (despite that I was supposed to "skip the line" because, evidently, they had lost the key. 20 minutes later, they gave me a key to a different truck and I went back to the first truck to receive my articles, which were still in it. I discovered that they hadnt lost the key to the first truck, they had rented it to somebody else, after my rental of that specifi truck had been authorized. The renter had driven away with my stuff. I spoke to the owner, who blamed me for the event, stating that I wasnt supposed to leave my stuff in the truck (despite having been told to get into the vehicle, familiarize myself with the controls, and having been specifically authorized to rent that specific vehicle), and she refused to call the renter to retrieve my stuff. They said that they would hold it until I returned. The new truck had broken mirrors that would not stay in place and the driver's window crank was also broken. WHen I returned after my rental, my stuff was not at the office and they promised to call me when they had retrieved it. They never called. This is terrible service and U-Hail owes me $10 to repalce the stuff I lost in my initial rental. I will be taking the matter to the BBB.STEPHEN M.

There should be a system for the staff to help customers load the truck with supplies such as dollies and other rented equipment. The app and checkin didnt work because there was no code to scan and the system was down. The truck did not have a full tank of gas. I spent $100 to fill tank and only used a quarter tank. First, the online reservation process should be clearer. After filling in all my info and locking down a time, it appeared as if the pickup would be quick and easy. It wasn't. Stood in the lot creating an account, trying to fill in drivers license info, etc. Could have done that at home instead of after clicking "ready to pick up". Safari on iphone froze on the disclosures popups. Had to go inside to finish. Left parking lot almost half an hour later. Second, the "change engine oil" was on the entire time I had the van (except at the very end) so I couldn't see the odometer to verify mileage. Third, I believe I was charged $10 for fuel, billed at $6/gal. That means 1.5 gallons to drive 7 miles in a van? If that's true, then something's not right with the vehicle. Lastly, the drop off was would have been fine if it hadn't been marred by a negative interaction with the employee who was checking in vehicles. I'll write the store directly.AARONWAYNE M.

I recommend that your employees pay attention, & or a manager watch where they bring the vehicle to. I was message & Called about me returning a vehicle late when I was told to return it before 7pm I returned the vehicle @ 4 to 4:30 . The attendant at this location is the rudest individual I have ever met, and I am not being hyperbolic. The truck was double booked, which is not great, but it happens. Instead of helping out the attendant was aggressive, rude, with a god-complex and ignored me and refused to help. Knowing that someone like that works at uhaul will make me never rent from them again. I actually never write reviews, but the rudeness of the attendant made sure that I will write one. Only rent here if you want to be treated worse than dirt! I ended up waiting for 45 minutes - all of them being rudely ignored (the attendant even said I don't want to help) and not even leaving with a truck - they made me go to the park slope location.Anwar A.

Uhaul rental clean and great! Clean vehicle! Representative at front 1 star, was not helpful at all, did not even want to see the phone and what process I was up to, no name tag but Caucasian female with glasses working appropriately 5PM. She quickly responded and guided another Caucasian individual after me with the same issue and I had to wait and go to another representative. Honestly the van was great, process was great, and would give 100 stars if I could, but customer service of this individual was not welcoming. I would suggest more training for her or customer service classes. Regardless of race or ethnicity this individual should understand basic customer service etiquette.SHALANDA G.

The right breaker light was not working during my long drive from New York to florida. I had to book a hotel because it was unsafe driving at night with a defective right light off. That cost me time and money getting a red roof hotel. Also worse than all the strap that holds my brand new 2022 Acadia kept coming loose. I had to keep stopping to restrap the wheel. The entire experience was bad. I chose contactless pick up, and nothing about that process worked. Upon arriving, I went though the steps on my phone as directed. There were requests for information I was not prepared for. Upon finally getting through those steps, I was assigned a truck to inspect. It was parked in the middle of dozens of other trucks. I could not get anywhere near it--not to inspect it for damage or pull out. I had to go into the store to ask about this. The very unhappy employee Marybeth told me I shouldn't have "accepted" the vehicle. I DID NOT accept the vehicle because I couldn't even get to it to inspect it. She unhappily made me wait while she assigned me another truck and gave me more keys. It was still parked too close for me to fully inspect it, but I did my best. The photos in the app were not even of the same truck! The bumper was completely different, and one side that had scratches was not pictured but rather another truck's side was pictured. Finally, I entered all this info into the app and got cleared to leave. There was another truck in the way. I went to the only employees I could see in the parking lot, and they said they'd get someone to move it. I'm not sure why they couldn't move it, but they were hanging out not doing anything; one was on his phone. After ten more minutes, I went to them again, and they said someone would probably come out to move it soon. So I basically lose 40 minutes on my reservation just waiting for employers to help. It was a total waste of money. I can't believe a "contactless" pick up had me going into the store three times, waiting on a grouchy woman who was the only employee not wearing a mask. He offered no assistance and referred to a sign with the instructions which I was unable to find. After looking around the parking lot, I finally found the drop box. The ability to navigate to the actual location online... to cancel service or to contact the facility is an utter embarrassment. The Uhaul site and automated system is not geared to the self storage customer. Its a tangled web that is not service by the call centers. There is insufficient staff to handle phone calls. Overall I can't really complain. But for the sake of suggestions for how the process could be improved, I have three things to note. (1) In terms of unit sizes, my unit was a bit too small for what I needed, but there was no way for me to know that when deciding what size unit to get. I got a 5'x5'x8' unit, and it was labeled as "studio, one or two rooms." The stuff I was storing could fit in a small guest sized bedroom, or in a little corner of a studio apartment, so I thought I would be fine with the 5'x5'x8' unit. It was just a bit too small. Some more accurate information on the front end would be helpful to allow people to know what size unit they need without having to undertake in a trial-and-error process. (2) When I made the storage reservation, the website info told me I'd need to supply my own lock, but it did not specify that a particular type of lock was needed. So I brought my own padlock, but when I checked in, I was told I specifically needed a disc lock, so I had to buy one there and incur yet another unexpected charge (a common theme in the world of moving). I understand that the disc locks are stronger than standard padlocks, but I should still be able to choose what lock I use as long as it fits on the unit door, and just deal with the additional risk that comes with using a slightly less durable lock. (3) The alarm. When I started moving stuff into my unit (after I had officially swiped my security card to check in and disarm the unit), an alarm started going off and I didn't know why. I eventually discerned that the alarm probably sounds if something is blocking the doorway of the unit for a certain amount of time. This was never explained or cautioned ahead of time, which is never a cool thing to spring on an unsuspecting customer. It's also just not a sensible security feature to install. When I'm trying to squeeze so much stuff into such a small unit (see point #1 above), I can't stand inside of the unit and also load everything into it while I'm standing there, so naturally I need to stand in the doorway while playing storage unit Tetris for an hour and a half (actual time it took me to arrange my stuff in a way so that everything would fit). That alarm feature for merely standing in the doorway, or having an object in the doorway while I'm actively trying to load the unit, should either be removed altogether, disarmed while people are actively filling the unit, or at the very least, there should be a warning about that feature in the paperwork ahead of time and/or there should be signs notifying people that a super obnoxious alarm will sound if they dare to try loading their own storage unit while having the audacity to stand with just one foot directly below the open unit door.Evan G. | Overall Experience

my card did not work, so I had to stand on line at office with other customers doing many other types of transactions (renting trucks..), when attended the experience was very good, but since it was past 8 as a I was moving out, it was complicated getting back into facility, sliding doors stop working, me and many patrons trying everything to get in. My card stop working again so could not get back my 3rd unit to finish emptying it (and office was closed), I stopped a customer care person on her way to leave work so she can swipe me in so i can get back to my unit and my daughters who was upstairs helping. There was a huge, slow moving line to get anything at all. I first had planned to rent a van and a storage unit but was talked out of renting my storage unit until the next day because I had arrived so close to office closing hours (I had reserved for 6:30PM). Instead I had to keep my rental truck parked on the street overnight, full of my stuff, and only realized the next day that it was totally unnecessary. They could have assigned me my storage space and I could have used it later that evening, since there was access until 10PM. I felt like the person behind the counter didn't want to deal with it so close to quitting time. I also never got the dolly I had rented, even though I was still charged for it. The system in the building itself was confusing and I had to run back and forth several times in order to get my key card to work. This is not at all the fault of the staff, but my experience moving in was so disorganized! I place the blame 100% on ineffective systems, not at all on the staff, who, as I said above, were friendly and helpful. To begin, although I had made a reservation in advance online, local staff did not have access to that information. Fortunately there were units available in the size I needed, but why have me select my unit size in advance if that information is not going to be shared with staff? Then, there were several issues with the unit itself. First, I was sent to a unit that was actually already occupied--again, I blame record-keeping rather than staff, who are trying to do their best with a system that's not giving them the information they need. Then, though staff (reasonably) believed there would be a lock inside my unit, this was not the case. Every time there was an issue, I had to go back down from the fourth floor to the office and stand in line. It was a needless waste of my time, and of staff's time continuing to help me with these issues on a busy first Monday of the month. This is why I rate my experience "average", although, again, everybody was very helpful. What would have been more helpful would have been if 1) staff had had access to my prior reservation 2) staff had had access to an accurate record of which units were available 3) available units were actually fully equipped with lock, OR, it were known that the unit did not contain a lock so I could have just grabbed one before heading up.CJ H. | First Impressions

Uhaul storage should allow customers to access their belongings 24/7. Charging a fee for unfolded blankets is condescending & patronizing. Charging close to five dollars a gallon for gas is outrageous. Especially tacking on the gas service free. The element of customer obsession is lost here. One of the most high stress points in moving is finally dropping off all equipment.. during this phase, uhaul lacked in the smoothness of "drop off". It was unclear what line to stand in to pick up a key for a truck, to get information, etc. I was also given unclear information about how to use the elevator and had to come back to ask for clarification. The line was extremely slow moving. One of the girls behind the counter was extremely rude and off-putting -- making me feel as though she was doing me a huge favor by helping me. Se was the youngest girl of the group. The others were friendly enough. There were also some computer glitches, or so I was told, making my wait time close to an hour. The unit we reserved online was not available on our scheduled move-in day. The staff member/cashier was rude when we asked what happened. Then she fought with another staff member about showing us available units. The other staff member was nice and helpful but didn't have the information we'd given the first staff member, resulting in wasted time showing us the wrong size units. She eventually found one that could work, but didn't take the U-Haul lock off, so we had to go back down to the desk for help. Terrible customer service. Tried to rent storage on-line, system wasn't working. Sat on hold for 15 minutes, then drove to location. Treated rudely. I formed I was not eligible for a free month, nor even a free lock. So much for being a good customer for more than five years. I see why you have such a low rating on yelp. Honestly, this could have been a great experience. I loved that it was possible to move in out-of-hours, but I was shocked to discover that my unit was "upstairs". Although there was an elevator to the appropriate floor, there was no indication that I would then have to lift all my furniture up a flight of stairs to my unit. I would not have made this booking had I known, and it was not made clear at all during the booking process. The process of renting the truck and using the moving helpers was really difficult. The movers were poorly booked by U-haul and on the loading in to storage side were booked for the wrong date. The Truck was delivered to me with an empty tank and the brakes on the truck were problematic. The staff at the counter were really nasty and I really do not want to ever go back to your office every again now that I have my belongings in storage. Figuring out the procedures for accessing the unit was a little confusing. I would have appreciated a sheet with all of the procedures in one place. The sheet I got was a contract, but it didn't explain how to access the unit, use the access card, elevator etc.Christine H. | First Impressions
I have not yet moved in, but my initial experience was hassle free and congenial which is important. Liked that there were cubes replicating the actual sizes of the spaces making it simple to choose and make a final decision. Only need I think might help, after getting the paperwork done, it would be helpful to be taken to the space as a first run-as its a huge facility and I don't like having to follow maps, even the most simple.a skill that I lack. I came on Saturday morning to sign the contract on a space I reserved online. Thus needed to go inside the store to do so. The system to get in the store and the navigation for shopping vs. waiting in line for spaces vs truck rental were disorganized. I waited in line for over a hour. The storage unit that I reserved online was not available when I arrived and after waiting in line for almost one hour the associate assigned me a storage unit that was smaller in size then what I reserved without thinking I would notice. Then after requesting assistance to move to a larger unit they were completely rude and honestly the worst customer service experience. However, the storage unit is the cheapest around so I guess that comes with cheap customer service too. Very disappointed.
