We had absolutely terrible service. The truck wasn't checked for safety before we left, so a tire exploded in the middle of the freeway and put our driver in extreme danger. The tow truck worker said this could have been easily fixed beforehand if they had checked it. The truck was unmarked and the employee serving us didn't seem like a worker for U-Haul so it was very confusing. They also ended up calling me the day before and saying that we had to change the truck size because they ran out of the kind we originally requested. We ended up getting a full refund but we had so many complications with it and the customer service was so poor that I will never be using U-Haul again. Gave 21 days for a delivery from CA to FL. Box DID NOT ARRIVE on time with 3 weeks to do so. NO advanced warning it would be late. I had to CALL the morning of delivery date to learn that it would be delayed. I had people hired to help me unload that I had to dismiss AND PARTIALLY PAY for the day. Seems it sat in CA from 9/29 until 10/15 for a 10/19 delivery. Seems someone could have figured out AHEAD OF TIME that it wasn't going to make it by 10/19 and a courtesy call would have been great. Overall was a fine experience. Was disappointed when my container ended up being late. Was also somewhat frustrating when neither driver called before pick up/drop off on either end of the shipping process. In LA, I luckily popped my head outside at the right to find a truck dropping the uBox in the wrong position. Then in CT, the driver went to the wrong house up the street since they decided to not confirm my address the day before. While everything got to where it needed to be, there were definitely steps that could have been taken to make it all function much more smoothly.Brendan Z.
My problem is with UHaul in general, not necessarily just this location. Throughout my rental process, I spent hours on the phone with UHaul customer service trying to resolve various issues. For instance, I spent almost three hours on hold and being transferred to different departments when I tried to inquire about why the "Gypsy Moth Checklist" that I filled out online wasn't saving to my profile. Other issues included me being told that my empty Uboxes would be ready for pickup at one location, but actually being ready at a completely different location. Luckily, I called a few days before my move date to find this out, so I could inform my movers not to go to the originally stated location. A similar issue happened when my boxes arrived in California. For some reason, my 2 Uboxes were stored at different locations, despite being told they would be stored at the same location. Again, I found out about this issue by looking at my order online, and after about 5 calls, was able to rectify this issue. At no point did UHaul notify me beforehand about either of these issues. It was my responsibility to notice UHaul's errors and correct them. The arrival date of my Uboxes also changed several times. Originally I was told the boxes would arrive on 9/21. Then, the day they shipped, I was told they were delated until 9/26. The boxes actually arrived on 9/11. Normally, an early arrival would be great, except that the dates changed so frequently and I made travel plans according to the original delivery date, that this became a huge headache. I had to waste more time on the phone with UHaul to figure out what was going on. Overall, the boxes were delivered on time, but I believe this is despite UHaul, not because of them. The customer must be extremely diligent in their efforts to arrange dates and times with UHaul, because they will often change things and not notify you. Customer service is generally bad, and I often got conflicting information and spend hours on hold being transferred to different departments. I would NOT recommend UHaul. I do not plan on using their services again and am relieved that this ordeal is over.Daniel H.

The staff always aimed to be helpful, but are hamstrung by archaic processes and systems that make scheduling incredibly tedious and inefficient. It was impossible to get someone on the phone at that location to schedule my pick up. Also no one told me I needed to give 24 hours notice to empty my container. I scheduled it via the chat online and when we arrived the employees were all just sitting around and not very attentive and my container wasn't even ready to be emptied. The actual office is hard to find. No signs at all. Wouldn't instantly notice it's inside a busy warehouse where there are trucks at the dock. Also, I approached an associate and asked where I can get my key. Instead of directing me to the office where he's actually going, he told me to pick up my key from a box. Then when I found the office, he was there and he told me I should have told him I was looking for the office. He knew I was lost and the pick up would have been faster and less confusing had I been helped proactively. Customer service was friendly, but the miscommunications and messed up scheduling meant that I had to make multiple phone calls almost every day just to attempt to get my stuff picked up/delivered properly. Placing the order online and then via phone was an absolute disaster. They somehow attached my order to someone else's account and it was a nightmare trying to straighten it out (still not correct). Spent over two hours on the phone and probably spoke to over a half dozen people (while getting put on infinite hold and then dropped completely). Extremely frustrating! The physical part of the move went very well however (initial box drop-off, pickup, cross country travel and then delivery at the final destination). Glad I called to see if boxes could be delivered early because while my contract called for weekend delivery, when I called the final warehouse, they told me "we are closed on weekends). Yikes! All the truck drivers and forklift drivers I met personally were super! It was the online and phone experience that was a nightmare. I didn't get a call the day before, as promised, and the information I gave the person who confirmed my order wasn't passed on, so when the delivery person came, he didn't have a forklift and the delivery had to be rescheduled for four days later. Uhaul recommended 3 pods, I ordered two, but I only actually needed one, so that algorithm is a little off. The staff were very friendly and did their best to accommodate me, but the communication was not timely. It seems the system they are working with needs improvement. My boxes arrived 6 days late. They were scheduled to arrive on 5/28, but I did not receive a phone call until 6:45pm on 5/27, 15 minutes before they closed. The person who called me also said he didn't know when the boxes would arrive. How is it possible that your customer service representatives can't easily look up a delivery schedule? If I sent a package thru Fed Ex I could look up the tracking number and get regular updates on delivery, so why can't myself or an employee do the same with your system? More importantly, why was I not told until essentially the last minute that my boxes would be late? Again, the employees I spoke to were sympathetic and as helpful as possible, but it seems to me that certain aspects of your delivery system set them up to fail.Conor H.

The worst moving experience ever! Most of the moving blanket were not used, still in the packages. The thugs posing as professional movers completely and intentionally destroyed the grand father by loading it upside down, at an angle and face down on top of the boxes with the weights flying around inside and completely ruining the clock. This was a family heirloom. They were mad because I refused to pay 450.00 for a tiny piano to be loaded. They agreed to 150.00, then left the location and wanted 250.00 when they came back to finish the job. U-Haul booked the arrangements for me and did not tell them about the little piano, even tough I told U-Haul of those two items. They also damaged the piano and destroyed another old clock.I felt like I was being held hostage since I was in another state. The container was never delivered, I took a day off work for nothing. The next afternoon I had to unload it myself in the rain since the movers were unreachable that next day, probably due to rain. Now I have to deal with an insurance claim. From the beginning of my reservation I had difficulty getting accurate information regarding my order. There were issues with me not getting accurate payment in formation, being charged on the wrong card, not getting accurate timeline of delivery and pickup. On multiple occasions I called and representatives could not verify information because the proper notes were not input into my account accordingly. Also, the communication with the Santa Rosa store, the store which initially dropped off the pod, was extremely difficult. I wasn't able to get directly through to the store via phone. I tried calling multiple times and was transferred around to different customer service departments, and all I was told was that I would need to speak with the store to discuss billing. Since I wasn't able to get ahold of the store on the phone I had to drive out of my way to go in to speak with someone in person. When they still were not able to review my financial details regarding my order I asked to speak with a manager. The rep said the store manager would call me, which never happened. All they did was email me saying yet another rep will call me to discuss why I was billed the way I was. I normally do not have so much to say in these customer reviews, but I feel uhaul did not instill confidence in me from the beginning, and I was skeptical that my things would actually be delivered.Zachary H.
