I had a very good experience overall --excellent maintenance of the facility and helpful and professional staff. However, billing was oftentimes erratic and inconsistent, resulting in over-charges that required personally contacting UHaul to try to fix. For example, most recently, after announcing a rate increase for a unit (3502), charges for the new amount started BEFORE the increase was supposed to take place. Sometimes charges went in twice. Provide a more precise location of the vehicle. There are essentially 3 areas where vans were parked and mine was not in the area I was pointed to. Ultimately I used the alarm on the fob to find it.MICHAEL A.
This location is conenient, and the staff is helpful, but my experience (receiving a vehicle with a non-working right turn signal) tells me that they need to do a safety check before giving equipment to customers. The van I got had under 9K miles when I received it, so I did not suspect that the turn signal would actually be malfunctioning--but, as I much later discovered, the bulb was not in correctly. The problem probably originated somewhere much before I got the vehicle. I am glad I was able to complete my trip safely. . . This was a big safety hazard.Dana M.

I rent from here frequently. Normally, the gas level is off by about an eighth of a tank. Not a big deal, but considering that the app freezes when you try to correct it, it's a real pain. This most recent time, though, the gas tank was empty. When I started the truck, it said it had 28 miles' worth of gas in it. Ten feet later, when I was on level ground, that switched to 10 miles' worth. It is absolutely ridiculous and irresponsible to assign a truck that can barely make it to the gas station.William S.

This is a good location for rentals. We have two storage units there. It is clean and well staffed. When I picked up the truck it had a damaged drivers mirror that was not identified by the previous renter or caught during preparation. Other than that. I ordered a 20ft truck and was given 17ft with no price difference or explanation. I had to do move in 2 trips which was double the mileage. Initially they charged my card for $198 for $40 truck. Once returned they tried to charge my card for an additional $89 . Just horriblearies M.
My reservation site did not have the vehicle on premise, and I was asked to drive to a different location. A real-time 'warehouse management system' should be able to adequately track a vehicles availability and location... and there should be an advance notification if the vehicle location has changed. The online check in process was not straight-forward. After I manually input my license information, I then had to also take a picture of this information. I then had to physically show my license again at the physical pick up location. There was no ez pass in the vehicle, and no mention or explanation of what to do at toll booths prior to embarking on the trip. Cars should have ez pass included, and the customer should be billed for the cost of the trip.BRIAN S.

The location itself was amazing...however I am highly disappointed in my overall experience at uhaul. I won't be returning and definitely will NOT recommend the uhaul company to anyone. I did not appreciate over the phone conversations and lack of on demand managers ( or even managers available within 24 hours) to solve problems that uhaul created for me was unacceptable. I have used uhaul to move across country in the past and loved it. I almost used Uhaul to book and help mother in law but disliked how I was spoken to and booked with penske instead. I thought maybe it was just Arizona and wanted to give uhaul another chance bc I loved my first experience. I chose to go with uhaul, despite my Arizona experience, and now I don't plan on ever using uhaul services again. I am highly disappointed and disgusted at the unethical business.Michael E.

There was no windshield washer fluid in the cargo van and tge windshield was dirty. When it began to rain, the dirt smudged and I could not wash it off. So I had to pull into a gas station to clean tge windshield. The side mirrors were dirty, which made it extremely hard to use them as well. My contract was never emailed to me, so when I tried to return tge truck I sat on hold with Customer Service for 30 minutes, before I decided to create an acct and see if the rental would show up, which it did. When I finished the vehicle return process, 15 minutes later... I was still on hold!!! I had similar issues the last time I rented about a month ago and didn't report anything, because I figured shit happens. But back to back rentals??? That's an issue! Hopefully my words will be taken with some degree of seriousness and I hope that possibly there may be somewhat of a discount applied for my 2 extremely inconvenient U-haul rentals. Thanks.MICHAEL D.

99% perfection. The one improvement request would be to clear up where customers can park when they arrive. I used a rental spot, was approached in a friendly way by an employee to move my car, but we couldn't find a spot even though there seemed to be 4-5 customer cars parked there max. relatively easy to sign up, set up access, get to your unit (had to change the initial one as it was locked) security system does not update until after you have left your first time, but it works eventually. The issue I had was at the end of the rental. Charged for two extra months until automatic payments were canceled. Will see next month if it really done or I have to call again to discuss it. Upon removing my items out of the storage unit, there were mice feces everywhere. There was zero food content in my unit, nothing stored warranted mice, it was disgusting and disappointing. Also, the staff was courteous and accommodating but not forthcoming with information. So far, it's excellent. Just as long as they don't go up on my rates every other month, like some other storage facilities I'm familiar. One issue though; the storage contract: There wasn't any. This is a review of Uhaul, and not specifically this location. I booked a storage unit with one location. I had a reservation and a set price at 89.99 plus tax and insurance. When I arrived (225 Long Ave), a sign on the door said that it was closed and to call a number. I called and they told me to go to another location (1000 Sherman). I did. When I got there, after waiting a while, the person told me that the location wasn't open at all and I could get a smaller unit with them for a lot more money ($125). I left and called Uhaul. The person on the phone was confused that the location was closed. She said it didn't make sense. Finally, she figured out that it was a new location and it wasn't yet open for business. For some reason, I was still able to make a reservation for it though for a date when it wasn't open. I ended up paying a lot more for a unit at a different place. So, it was a disaster. I really would expect to get the benefits of having a large chain, namely, that they would honor the price for when I booked. It seems like it's more a series of independent places that kind of work together, not at all as good. The person on the phone was helpful, and the place it's at is fine, but this was a mess so beware of this kind of thing with Uhaul.Joe A. | First Impressions
The system was down so I could not get a code/card to access the elevator. The process was not clear on how to check in at the front door so that led to serious frustration while moving in. A text said I will have a lock ready in my unit and there was none there so I had to run around the facility to find an employee to fetch a lock (which was originally included in my rent). The staff tried their best to help. The second day I was stuck on the elevator it wasn't moving for a time. When i initially reserved a truck i specifically stated i needed a truck that i could drop at another location as opposed to returning it to where id pick it up. I was moving out of state so that made the most sense. I confirmed with the agent that i could drop the trick at another location in nj...perfect. Three days prior to my pick up date i received a call from uhaul confirming the reservation; however; i had to return the truck to ny! And instead of my flat rate id now be charged per mile!!! I explained to the agent that this was not was reserved and he said sorry cant help thats all we have blah blah. So instead of a rate of i think it was $139? I ended up with a $222 bill.,,almost $100 more!!! Completely unacceptable and the agent was not willing to work with me at all. When i returned the truck to the original location the agent there informed me if i got a bigger truck it would have been one way only...a15" as opposed to a 10"....this was never offered to me as an option when i was told 'there's no availability to drop off the truck at another location'....complete scam!
