The general manager does a fantastic job of doing her best to keep everything under control, but the other employees at this location are very slow in helping you and I spent over half an hour when I came to pick up equipment and when I came back to pick up the truck.Camille W.

I've rented a van 4 times in the last two months. The staff has been knowledgeable and friendly. The equipment is clean and well maintained. However, the location seems to be seriously understaffed. 3 of the 4 times have required waits of 15-30 minutes in line before a customer service rep could begin to serve me. The pick up process requires an hour or longer even with my doing most of the work ahead of time online.Gary P.

Do not allow people to pick up vans that have been reserved for other customers. Do not allow people to reserve vans online that are not actually at the U-HAUL location. Confirm a customer's reservation the day before their scheduled pickup. Do not lie about the gas that is in the truck. All of these comments are based on my terrible experience with U-HAUL: (1) I reserved a U-HAUL van 10 days prior to my pickup but failed to receive a confirmation phone call, text, or email; (2) when I arrived at my scheduled pickup time, I was told that they gave my reserved truck to someone else on accident, and the three customers behind me in line were told the same thing; and (3) the paperwork they gave me said the truck had a half tank of gas but when I started it, it only had a quarter tank.ANDREW R.

I had a fantastic experience. I had hired a moving company so that I would not have to do heavy lifting, due to back issues and my daughter's wedding next weekend. However, the company never showed, and I needed help immediately. Although no 15' 1 way truck was available, they provided a 10' and 4x8 trailer. Therefore, we were able to accomplish the move during the weekend that it had to be done. NOTE: I called around 3pm and drove off with equipment before 4pm!FREDDIE C.

The people working were helpful and considerate despite their terrible circumstances. There appeared to be only 1 person working the entire inside areas, 1 helping assign equipment in the pickup area and 1 doing return check ins. They were all swamped with customers. I had. 9am pick up and it took over an hour. We h Waited in the line, got assigned our trailer and hooked up and had to wait in the line again. Props to the staff for working under the pressure they were under. This was the biggest UHaul center I have been at and the worst staffed. One guy who was working said it was I just his 5th day in the job. They deserve a huge raise and HELP! I would not use this center again unless I knew this was fixed. I had a really bad experience renting the truck in another city but Jonathan in Athens was very professional and resolved those issues. Moving into storage was very easy. The facility is very clean and we are very happy with it. U Haul provide moving carts which helped tremendously and it was really easy to find the unit with the map that was provided. Waited a very long time to check in for a box truck and storage unit. I had checked in online but still waited. By the time it was my turn in line they could only help me with my box truck. The other person for the storage unit was not around and that I would have to wait for the storage person. I just waited in line??? Why do I need to wait again? I left so I could pack up my daughters dork room. There was a time frame for move out that day. Which meant after packing up all her furniture I had to come back and wait in line again. This process which was suppose to be quick because of the "online check in" was painfully slow. The staff was nice but considering it was move out dates for UGA you would think you would schedule staff accordingly. The other people in line were also waiting a long time and having worse issues than I. I guess I should consider myself. lucky. I had an 8:30 am reservation and arrived between 8:25 and 8:30. I waited 25 minutes before receiving service. There were only two associates working and both left the store (with customers) very soon after I entered. If the expectation is that associates leave the transaction counter to assist customers and that process requires multiple minutes then more associates should be on hand.SCOTT L.

My issues have nothing to do with either of the locations I ended up using. I was supposed to pick up a 10ft truck in Athens, Ga, but was called at 7:10am on a Saturday to let me know that I was diverted to Fast Picks in Jefferson, Ga because of lack of trucks in Athens. I arrived in Jefferson and there was no truck. I had to call the UHaul national number to get help in obtaining a truck as they were no help in Jefferson. I was upgraded to a 20ft truck, which was way too large for my needs, and ended up costing me more money. I was then contacted Sunday morning to ask if I picked up my 20ft truck. Owner/operator is very friendly, and it's nice to see the business expanding and making use of an old shopping center. But equipment, while clean, is old and in my experience, not well-maintained. Check Engine light and low tire light came on when I started the truck. I didn't have any issues, so it was all good. Staff was very helpful and courteous when I returned the truck. I'd recommend, but with a caution to check the vehicle carefully.Patricia C.

In past experience the locations would have your truck or trailer out front ready to go for your reservation. I had to walk 100yds to get the truck I rented. I had pre ordered 2 queen mattress bags that were not given to me which I should have remembered. The girl who checked us in acted like she didn't want to be there. When I checked back in it took 25 min for someone to come out to the truck. Was told I would receive my receipt by email and that my total was $47 and some change. No receipt and charged 65 and some change. Definitely will choose a different location next time. I would choose a different company all together but unfortunately y'all are the only ones here that I know of.Jeremy H.
I rented the van a week ago and spoke to Johnathan Walworth. THe estimated expense for the van with additional mileage was $885. When I returned the van today, I explained that I had tried to go to the website to report a problem, but it stated that the link was no longer valid. I had not yet left the parking lot. When I rented the van, I did pay for the damage liability waiver and that was around $70. I made the comment that that should take care of any issue that needed repair. Now I find out that there is $95 due as a deductible for the windshield that cracked. It was there when I rented it. Not only that, but I received a bill for almost $2000!!! I waited at least 45 minutes, but had to get back to my office. When I had time, I have tried calling twice and got a recording that there was a wait of over 20 minutes. No offer to put me in the que and call back. Not to mention the Pickup and Van Best Rate Guarantee. Don't think so. If this is the way you run your company, I will never do business again with UHaul.GLORIA A.

The staff were incredibly nice and as helpful as they could be, but there weren't nearly enough people to handle the customer's needs. I have a good feeling that is by design of the corporate, private equity design. At one point, U-Haul was the definition of a good company, and has even become synonymous with truck rental. But, as with most things, the desire for ever-increasing profitability has diluted any semblance of a pleasant experience and has destroyed what was once a good paying job for employees. The computer system was down, the wait for any assistance was laughable and a very dystopian quote about human worth being tied to work productivity was ominously plastered on the wall of a bleak breakroom. All in all, I will be doing everything in my power to use other companies.VESS F.

Very helpful staff! However, during minor emergency UHaul Corporation shoots self in the foot with their automated phone system jacking around customers with their artificial intelligence brilliance. When someone has a trailer sperate while still at the facility, phone system automated routing is inexcusable, poor thinking on corporate!
