Had to make 2 trips bc the items were too big and didn't fit on a one trip. Unlike an incredibly hateful experience with renting a U-Haul trailer driving across country having the flat tire in the middle of nowhere the tow truck driver not bother hooking the trailer back up and being threatened by a manager in Spanish something about child porn in order to try to cop out of the already agreed from the Western Washington regional office Eastern New York regional office that the extension would be a courtesy just pending a manager's rubber stamp I found everything about the experience incredibly distasteful. The U-Haul self storage folks in Bergen were fantastic and resolved the problem immediately with no further contact with the hateful manager in bensonhurst brooklyn. I will absolutely never do business with U-Haul again if I have to deal with that manager. When I arrived to pick up the truck, the representative/attendant (Maria Rodriguez) who took my information gave me one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever had with this company. The representative was in a grumpy mood in the morning. Despite my efforts to be courteous and patient, she was determined to make me leave feeling annoyed by treating me rudely. The gas surcharge of $15 dollars for a gallon of gas is insane! My schedule didn't permit me to add a stop for gas. At most I needed a gallon to bring it to the original fullness. The facility was clean and organized. The rental van was in very good condition. It drove nicely and the price was right. The representative at check out was thorough and explained everything clearly to me, inspecting the vehicle, reviewing all of the charges and sending me an email confirmation. Mayra, the representative, who checked me in was horrible! She did not answer any of my questions or explain how the process worked. When I asked her a question she just pointed to the pamphlet and handed it to me. When I walked up to check in, she said, "Hold on buddy!" and made me wait for a while. She spelt my name wrong and after I spelt it for her correctly, she said, "That's what I said." I found her to be very rude and dismissive. Her customer service skills were very bad and disappointing. It's very stressful to be moving from one place to another. Then, to be talked down to, first thing in the morning was unpleasant and disappointing. I would recommend this facility, but be sure to check in with another person.LANCE D.

For a women entering alone, I found it scary to walk to the storage unit in dark areas that only light up by sensors. The walkways are pitch dark until you walk through your area. When entering your storage unit, it has no light (i brought a flash light) but as you are inside the fear that the hallway light will cut off soon is concerning. Also roaches in the facility made me feel that I should have taped up boxes better. I saw 3 roaches on my boxes prior to removing items. By far the worst experience! Reservations don't matter. Customer service is lacking. I made a reservation June 19th and showed up June 20th to personally see the storage unit size and was shown what it would look like and the lady was able to confirm my reservation. Showed up Sat (7/17) as my reservation was for that date and magically my reservation can't be found and my space isn't available. Customer service couldn't even assist, she wanted me to make a new reservation which is pathetic. When I got home I called the 800 U-Haul number and they said the manager would be calling me soon to attempt and rectify the issue. Haven't heard anything..
