Make sure the equipment is functioning properly. I rented a van and experienced the following: 1) Brakes locked up, that required roadside assistance. The positive, is the roadside assistance arrived within an hour of calling. The original wait time was going to be two hours. 2) Once I got back on the road the "Engine Needs Service" light started flashing. I was within 5 miles of the rental center so I was able to switch into another van. Both of these issues delayed my ability to complete my job that day. The positive, is that the staff worked with me to manage both issues in a professional manner.Dan B.

The truck had no AC and the engine was incredibly loud. It was deafening when riding in the truck. It sounded as though the engine was not muffled at all. The headlights were incredibly dim, so driving later in the day was difficult. No trucks available to return to a different/closer location, so had to drive it all the way back to pick up location, which meant more miles and a higher charge. How about not treat the customer as an employee. By that, I mean honor the location of the pickup and drop off. Hire people to move vehicles for you. Don't force us to go to locations just to help you out. If we have to do this, there should be a discount applied. I would recommend cleaning the trucks. I waseft smelling like smoke every time I got out of the truck. It was irritating to my sinuses and just made me feel gross. I would also suggest makinh the online check-in be an actual online check-in or just a love check in. If you have to go in and still wait for keys, it defeats the purpose. I had to call customer service; apparently there is a shortage of blankets so customers are getting SOME blankets but not 24 like we signed forâ€¦..this leads to a discrepancy i could be charged for and really shouldnt be happening. People don't always know about the process picking up a truck. Random links from U-Haul may be ignored or not trusted. Recommend an SOP doc for customers on what to do once they check in at the counter. 1. Get checked in at the desk. 2. Select any addition equipment (if needed) 3. Inspect your U-Haul trailer or vehicle. You will receive a text message with link to walk through the process. 4. Complete the online inspection process. Etc, etc.Eric G.

This was our first time towing something, and Travis, Edwin, and their manager (the sweet lady), were all very helpful and kind. Dropped off my rental hours before it was due (total use time was less than 8 hours) and was charged for two days even after waiting around in the lobby for 20 minutes asking multiple people if there was some kind of confirmation I could get to confirm that the rental was returned in their system and being told to just wait for the receipt in my email and there was no check in needed since I dropped it off. For such a large location it was understaffed. Everyone was trying their best but there were far too few employees around. I opted for the purely mobile pickup and it was not smooth at all. When it came time to pickup the truck it kept telling me to find a truck number that simply wasn't there. It directed me to the "parking lot" which is really confusing at this location. Eventually after four reshuffles it directed me to a truck under the tent that I could find. When it came time to get the keys I had to go inside and wait for an employee to show up - there were 3 people in line and it was awkward to skip it to ask for the keys aside. The truck wasn't clean (not the fault of the person doing the cleaning) so I had to wait for that to conclude. There was simply too much interaction for a purely advertised mobile pickup.Jacob B.

The vehicle was great. When I got in the truck I realized the mileage was overstated by one mile. The contract stated the mileage was 6159, however; it was 6160. While in the parking lot I called the office 253.850.4396 spoke to Amber about the mileage being off, she said she would make the correction. After I received my final paperwork, I found the mileage was not corrected which means I paid $0.99 more than I should have. Vicky Thompson in Auburn, WA went above and beyond her job to make sure I had a truck after I was sent to the wrong location almost a half an hour away (this exact scenario also happened 3 years ago when I last moved. The guy in front of me today said it has happened to him twice now too). She did all of this by herself first thing this morning while also assisting other customers at the same time because this location was understaffed (per usual). Uhaul is very lucky to have an employee like Vicky that can properly resolve these glaring and reasonably fixable scheduling issues that Uhaul can't seem to get a grasp of at the corporate level. Our experience with the UHaul Supercenter Auburn team was absolutely positive and we heartily recommend them for anyone with a simple or a complicated move. The management and crew were beyond helpful, capable,and knowledgeable. We could not have proceeded through the stages of our large move without their knowing and watchful eyes. My partner and I were recognized by every staff member, and our move was fully tracked by management and staff throughout the entire process. I would not have had the trust to commit to the U-Box service without knowing that the management team would be on top of scheduling the boxes for packing, moving, and transport out of state. Their recent changes in storage area hours and rental policies effectively mitigated the impact of non-storage activities. I applaud the management team for their willingness to adapt the storage rental and facility policies to protect the safety of UHaul customers. Beyond the policies, they also carefully and consistently watch the security camera feeds, and maintain a strong presence with frequent walk throughs. I had to move out after 7pm and the main doors to the storage were closed at that time, which is out of business hours for U-Haul, but not for their customers. Here is the situation: using the lateral door is a pain on the neck because you have to make sure the load was perfectly fitted to cart's size, otherwise you need to find ways to make it fit. Also, the lateral door should be only used for emergency as opposite to operational door. It is very difficult to get out specially when you have to move multiple carts at the same time. Also, there was a time when a lady tried to use their card and we were 'stuck' outside the warehouse for 20 minutes... yes, it is a security mechanism for U-Haul and very insensitive for customers waiting outside. I was there at 8pm awaiting for the door to open, while the GM was enjoying time with his children at home !!! Rude staff. Unhelpful. Lazy. And inpatient. No soap or toilet paper in bathrooms. Also what made me more upset is them cancelling my reservations after we had called them to say we are running late. And the no worries. 15 minutes later reservations were cancelled. Uhaul workers have no clue what they are doing. And they really don't care about people or helping anyone. They don't care about your needs. Please get people in that actually care. Please hire people that will do there job right !!!!JOY S. | Overall Experience

The place was very clean with a state of the state of the art security system. I love the security card and how it worked. I put my lock on the latch after closing the door but forgot to slide the latch to the closed position. When I used my card to check out, it indicated my door was opened. I went back and it looked okY but after further inspection to lock was in place but the holes didn't line up so the door could still be opened even with the lock on tbd latch. Thankful for the state of the art monitoring system. The place is very clean and very well kept. I would use this place again in a heart beat.Marcelino S. | Overall Experience

The facility is amazing, the service is great, the storage is easy to load and unload into. The only issue I ran into was accessing the storage unit later in the evening, since we finished packing all of our stuff and loading it onto the UHAUL truck in one day it took a long time to finish, I had to return the truck by midnight and was under the impression that the storage would be open later in the evening, not necessarily midnight but 10PM seems reasonable (realistically I should have checked but I assumed). But unfortunately it closed at 8PM which is really early and so instead of being able to return the truck in time, I had to wait until the storage unit was open in the morning to load all of our stuff into the unit and return the truck. The facility is clean and very secure. The system alerted me that my door was still open when I used my access card to check out, not realizing I put the lock on but did not slide the bar to make sure the latch was secured. Check in procedure seemed redundant. A lot of what they were filling out I already had completed online. Staff was friendly and helpful. The price I ended up paying when I received the unit was $5 more than what my reservation stated. Nobody there had a definitive answer as to why. But, when you need a unit, and pretty much the whole center and town are booked up, you can't complain too much.Kevin R. | First Impressions
I'm so upset and my experience with uhaul was awful. First I had to be in the phone for an hour to talk to a real person. And they couldn't help me. Then they transferred me to some one who could help say in phone for another 45 mins. Person answered hello and click got disconnected. Called back and waiting again. Couldn't get a access code after we made reservations for a unit. And the lady that helped us talked so much about everything. Her husband finger got cut off. She went in and on about that. There were 8 to 9 people waiting. Some walked out. And out truck rental. A/C didn't work. Oh and a lot of problems. I don't complain ever. But worse experience ever.JOY S. | First Impressions

I had an outstanding experience using this local storage service. I'm very happy with the unit we had and how secure, accessible, and pleasant it was. My interactions with the staff here were wonderful, and I think this manager is doing an excellent job. My only complaints are at the corporate level. My first is communication accessibility. The customer service experience by phone is at best frustrating and at worst a complete failure. There really needs to be a local number for clients to use to ask questions, report issues, etc. My second issue is with the current trailer/truck shortage. It is is ridiculous to allow people to make reservations for trucks/trailers when you know you will not have them available. I would not have been notified until 3 days prior to our move that we would not have a trailer, and then would have been forced to use pods. Thankfully, I heard of this shortage early and was able to buy one of the handful of remaining trailers in our area, but it sickens me to think of the many people who didn't get this heads-up and were forced to pay much more for pods at the last minute. That feels so shady. Either do what you need to do to get trailers and trucks back to the locations that need them (hire drivers/shipping?) OR offer customers a price match for the available services. Without proper notice, it's unreasonable to treat customers with such disregard. It would be wonderful for Uhaul to care enough about their reputation for customer service that they took care of their customers in this way. The other thing (which I think is really beyond your control) is the size of parking lot/difficulty of space to maneuver. This is something I know you're aware of. As it is, I would use this location again and again for the staff experience and facility experience I had. I will not be looking at U-Haul on the other end of our move, because I don't want to deal with the corporate practices of your company again.HALEY M. | Overall Experience

Had to wait 30 min to be assisted,the u-haul rep that I had was in training The Manager that was on duty/site,had to assist The UHaul Rep,was told I'd have 24hr access,to my unit when I reserved my unit,I then asked again about my 24hr access to my unit and first month free,I had to call the reservation line as trying to reserve online wasn't happening as it wouldn't let me select what unit I was trying to reserve online. I also asked The Manager and The other UHaul Representative if I had to 24hr access again before signing payment receipt. I feel I should be give another month free,as I paid for asked and was told that I had 24hr access, otherwise I'll go to another location,a better price and a refund.Jimmie B. | First Impressions

My family have been very stressed over the mortgage lending issues that have been going on. Because the closing date was pushed back, we had no clue what to do. Amber, she made our day. She took the stress out of our situation by being so nice and explaining everything about the process we felt so comfortable. Our family have never experienced anything like it. During one of the most stressful time of our life, Amber helped us get organized and took the stress out of our life. Thank you Amber, we really appreciate it.
