After dropping the uhaul off. I received my receipt for the service and noticed a fuel charge. The attendant Joseph Batcher incorrectly logged in the gas gage at 1/8 of a tank when I left it with a 1/4 tank exactly the way I was given it. I went back to the location to speak with a manager but no manager was on staff, called uhaul long wait time, so now I have to go in tomorrow to speak with someone about a refund.Joline B.

Place was clean. The 3 times I've been there there has been someone cleaning or sweeping. Today I was able to pick up my rental easily. When I arrived the only guy there was on the phone but he politely told me it would be a minute while he dealt with the phone call. He let me know without interrupting the phone call, which was fine. I wasn't in a hurry. Answered my questions with knowledgeable responses. Returning the rental was also very easy. Girl was waiting for me and let me ask all the questions I wanted. Very disappointed in reservation system; although I had reserved online more than 5 months before I needed the trailer, when I got the phone call the day before my reservation was to begin the dispatch person said, "Sorry, we don't have a 6 x 12 trailer available for you anywhere in the entire state of Alaska." We had made travel plans to move to the lower 48 about 3 days later that couldn't be changed. It was a frantic 30 minutes trying to come up with ideas for another trailer before a 6 x 12 was "found" for us. Not happy with that part of the uHaul process... not happy at all.KEITH M.

Truck was good, pick up was nice and easy. Used the truck for about an hour, then dropped it off and left the keys in the box where we were told. Got a call at 7am and a voice-mail from a very upset lady saying I needed to return the truck because someone else needed it. I was not pleased about this as the truck was right next to the front of the building, the keys were in the box like they were supposed to be, and I was concerned I would be charged for another day for absolutely no reason because I then couldn't get ahold of anyone to figure the situation out. Two consecutive times at this Uhaul they have attempted to over charge me. This time I had returned it same day and was charged two days of coverage and rental time. Last time I filled the tank to the same level it was when I had checked it out - which was lower than a quarter tank - and they filled it all the way up on my card, even though I did what was required of me. The U-Box was not delivered as scheduled and was picked up well over a week late, and only after we called and they didn't seem to have a clue about it. The U-Box was delivered early at the destination, but to the wrong city (Manteca, CA instead of Modesto, CA). When we picked up the U-Box they at first hooked up someone else's U-Box to our truck, fortunately they caught the mistake before we drove away. We had to unload the U-Box and get it back to the U-Haul store the same day, giving us about a 6 hour window which was rough in 102 degree heat.DEREK H.

Maybe you could use some of the vehicles just being stored. I wiykd have liked to get a box van overnight for moving that's not an option unless you get 20' or bigger. When I arrived there was hardly any place to park I had no reservation but they were accommodating exceot I coukdnt keep a 15' box van overnight. It was very clean drove and handled flawlessly. This location goes up and beyond. The Customer Service is 5 Gold Star. Even when under staffed and low on equipment the staff make it work. I am a Deaf customer and frequently rent Uhaul of all sizes plus storage and supplies. The storage facilities are super clean and state of the art. Storage rates are fare and competitive with local community companies. I've never been to a Uhaul facility with such knowledgeable staff with a commitment to do all they can to make customer service a gold standard of care and support.ELIGAH C.

Not pleased with the Eagle River UHaul Company. We are in the process of moving and went online to reserve a Haul truck. We literally live across the street from the E.R. store. We rented a truck to be picked up via mobile on Sunday. We printed out the receipt. Sunday morning we received a call stating ER UHaul did not have a truck that we could rent. It was a mistake. We were told we could pick up a truck (a 20 foot instead of a 15, which is what we wanted) from Boundary and then drop it off in Wasilla. Because it was more miles, they would not charge for the miles. Then we get the quote and it showed we would have to pay for miles AND pay 20 dollars more for the bigger truck! We got a call back from UHaul stating the end destination was incorrect and we would have to drive it out closer to Big Lake...EVER FURTHER! So we rented a 15 foot truck from Boundary and returned it to Boundary. We payed 20 dollars more than our original quote because E.R. did not supply us the truck. Not pleased. We have been buying our boxes and packing material from UHaul. We just started the process and I will be looking at other moving companies to purchase our next batch of moving supplies and trucks in the future. I believe if you have a written contact with a company, they should uphold their end of it. If they can't, they should provide compensation. It's bad business not to. My husband called the main UHaul Company phone number and was told there was nothing they could do about it. Again, bad business practice. UHaul on Boundary did nothing wrong. But I'm going to hold UHaul company accountable...my business will be going elsewhere in the future.JERRY S.

Upon picking up the UHaul and being told that the gas tank was at a quarter full and I needed to return it back with that amount of fuel in the tank. I no more got going from Uhaul to my address at 400 Capricorn Circle and the warning light came on saying that the gas had 30 miles left in the tank and I needed to put gas in the tank. So I did. I put 8 gallons which turned out to be way too much. With the faulty gas gauge I am hoping that Uhaul will either reimburse me for the excess gas or give me a coupon for further rentals. I am looking for a new storage and I will be renting again for a one way trip from Kenai to Anchorage. Gracias.DIANNE J.
Told I couldn't get a storage unit because none available. Left the store went online and boom three units available and received on. Arrived and issued unit 1030 (reserved a first floor). Checked unit and it had a lock on it. Went back and he said he will work it out as I rented a $19.95 uhaul as well and he said I would have a unit upon return. Got in the uhaul and the fuel guage was off what he told me (took a picture) upon return I was issued unit 3030 (not what I reserved). Turning in the uhaul I mentioned I traveled a total of 12 miles and told him the gauge wasn't at 7/8 but closer to 3/4. He assured me he would make a note of it and I wouldn't be charged. I was charged for 20+ miles that I did not put on your vehicle. I won't return to this location EVER. Biggest ripoff artists I have dealt with within uhaul. I normally rent from the store at 47xx Old Seward Highway, Anchorage, AK. My milage never exceeds my estimated by 20+ because I KNOW what that milage is within 1-2 miles as I use your vehicles to haul lumber to my house for home improvements. Same house for 30+ years. Good service, one way to improve the storage area is a clearly designated active loading and unloading zone so all customers actively loading or unloading have access to the main door. Once truck is empty or full it can be moved to a close by spot, that way the next person comig in isn't blocked.Terri C.
My reservation was changed by uhaul to a location farther away from my storage unit after I made my online reservation. The call center committed to giving my a 50 mile credit for being flexible because the truck I reserved online would not be available from the location I reserved it from. I spoke to 5 different people and when I returned the equipment, I was assured it would be taken care of. I was charged for the full amount if the rental and my phone calls were not documented, and no one responded to my email after I waited to see if uhaul would adjust the charges as promised.Alicia T.

The old Seward location is terrible, I went there first before I got the notification that my reservation was changed to Boundary. The Old Seward employees were slow and rude. The Samoan gentleman was very nice but didn't seem to know much about the job. The other guy, a skinny white guy, was really abrupt and rude. The service was extraordinarily slow as well. I waited 30+ minutes to be told I was at the wrong location and there wasn't anything they can do. The nice Samoan guy was apologetic and helpful but the other guy was rude and aloof. The Boundary location was far better. Very quick service and the employees were all very friendly, helpful, and nice. The truck I received was pretty terrible. - the check engine light was on and the truck drove somewhat erratically - the drivers seat was damaged and sloped to the left so I was sliding off the seat towards the door - the drivers seat didn't move forward at all so I couldn't reach the pedals - I had to STRETCH my body and lean back so I could drive. It felt really unsafe. - the middle section in between the two seats was also torn - the passenger side door has to be SLAMMED shut or it doesn't close properly. This was really inconvenient as it took multiple tries every time - there was no ramp attached/included which would have been nice to know ahead of time when booking my vehicle as that was also rather inconvenient - the doors took a lot of force to close as well The truck was clean and the AC worked great so that's a positive. Mobile check in/check out process was really easy I returned the truck with more gas than it came with so I do feel as if I was overcharged a bit.Ashlea S.

Your "corporate" system is HORRIBLE. I went to pick up my truck at a place that supposedly offered 24/7 pick up. I showed up at my pick up time with no way to get my truck! I had to return the next day to pick up my truck. This cost me two additional rides, one taxi and one uber to get the truck. NOT HAPPY ABOUT THAT or the wasted time. You guys knew this location couldn't do business that way because ALL of their trucks were stolen a week or two prior to the rental. The crooks destroyed the boxes used for the keys. The location itself deserves a 5 star rating, but U-Haul corporate deserves zero stars.Michael S.

Be aware of the hours you can access to the storage. They closed at 7pm even the website stated we have access until 10pm. We found out while we were loading the truck at 7pm. The staff came to lock the door. If we knew it before, we would have gotten 24hr access.MAKOTO M. | Overall Experience

I had many issues with the facility. Staff was friendly and as helpful as they could be, but they were overwhelmed. Way too many customers for way too little staff. I almost always had to wait. When I signed up for a unit, I was asked to sign an agreement, but was not given time to read it or given any paperwork. There was also a lock on my unit when I went to use it and I had to walk all the way back to ask staff to remove the lock (and wait for them to stop assisting other customers). When I arrived to move my belongings in, carts were being horded by other customers. These customers were not actively using the carts to transport items, but spent 30 minutes going through the belongings in their unit. I asked respectfully to use a cart and was declined. I then asked the staff for assistance. They did nothing to stop the cart hording. Also, while moving in my belongings, I was told on one occasion that I could not access the floor with my unit for an hour, because they were waxing the floor. I told them I needed to move everything out of my apartment that day and disregarded them and moved my belongings in anyway. In a month, I visited my unit about 14 days to move things in (and subsequently move things out). A number of times, alarms were going off. I have stored at other facilities and have never heard a single alarm. So something appeared to be going wrong with the alarm system. I had issues with getting my access card to work. I went and spoke to staff about it (Again, after waiting). They gave me an access number. I then realized that my alarm did NOT work at all. I even tested this out by not logging in and opening my unit - no alarm. I notified staff about this and asked them to have a manager call me about prorating my unit's rent. (I wanted to move out immediately and feel that UHaul is in breach of contract for not honoring the alarms they promised me). I waited a day. The manager never called me. I decided to move my belongings to another storage facility, but to wait until my month expired, because it was clear I was not going to be treated with respect or dignity. Customer service is important to me. If a facility will have this many things wrong with it and not own up to the issues and fix them, then that is a huge disservice to the community at large and to me.john s. | Overall Experience

My items were stolen as we were moving out. I called and management didn't do anything, he never even took my name down but said he'd call me back, which he never did. The woman who stole the items had been there for days rummaging through peoples' items as well as the free pile. It looked like she was trying to stay in the facility after everyone left, possibly staying in a unit. I have yet to receive a call back about my stolen items. I was transferred to multiple departments that ultimately left in a deadend with no one to answer me or the ability to leave a voicemail. The items stolen were over $400 in total, over twice the amount of my rent for a month. I would like a call back, or an email. Through either mistakes, incompetence, or criminal behavior all the items in my storage unit were disposed of FIVE days after I started to put them into the unit, using the access code I had been assigned. In addition I am being charged late fees for a unit (1027) that was not my unit. An insurance claim has been opened to recover a portion of the value of the items that have been lost. I am still in shock that, as an aritist, I have lost the majority of my artwork and that of others that I collected. I have also lost family heirlooms going back over 100 years. Also my jewelry and my passport. This is an active case. I have refrained from going public with my experience at this time as we work through claim process. A police report was filed. There was a lot of confusing and moving units at first because of damage to locking mechanism on the first one, then told to go to another, then another, and finally got one that wasn't being used. The staff was always Very grumpy and rude. They acted like helping you was a chore and it was quite concerning. The only gal that was super sweet was the older cleaning lady that came the the storage building. She was always so friendly and helpful. I always felt bad for her because she had to clean up some really nasty stuff left by people at the entrance. She should get some kind of compensation. Horrible communication, the cancellation process took way longer than it should have and it was practically impossible to ever reach a human there. The storage building smells horrible all the time, there's always garbage around. The storage room is dark, it's extremely hot on the 3rd floor. Not impressed with this location at all. The storage unit was like working in an oven or sauna. Unnecessary hot. After hours the sliding door did not work with my access code making it impossible to move things in and out after I got off work. On most occasions there where no carts available, and people parked right in front of the door, making it difficult to load my truck. There were a lot of homeless people hanging around, and weird people riding around on the carts inside the building. Also people with dogs hanging out inside the building, and intoxicated people hanging around. I was never comfortable being there alone.Julie S. | Overall Experience

Initial and secondary assigned storage were BOTH occupied, storage areas were in the 80's, and entry area was cluttered. Returned a rented trailer on time, but was contacted at drop off location (not Boundary) two days later, requesting I intended to return the item.
