The facility was severely understaffed. I waited for over 45 minutes for the van that I had reserved online. The return was just as big a mess as the pickup. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this location to anyone. Not only were there extra charges from no where but I was charged an hour after my drop-off time. First, the employee told me my credit card was a gift card and as she saying it's not working, the charges are coming up on my phone. Furthermore, I dropped my rental off at the time but was charged $67 an hour after my drop-off. It's extremely disappointing knowing these employees are scamming customers. The woman that checked me in put me on hold, left me there 20 min, when I got tired of waiting, I called back and she immediately helped me. She likely put me on hold and forgot about me on hold. When I checked in in person, the same woman did the check in and didn't tell me where the vehicle was located properly, nor did she make sure I had the 12 blankets that were on my order which I ultimately didn't need but became a problem when I brought the vehicle back to Alton and didn't have them because they were never given to me.Thomas K.

I HAVE MADE NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS NOW EQUALING 112 MINUTES WITH NO RESOLVE EXCEPT FOR BEING CALLED A LIAR. I WAS TOLD BY THE UHAUL REPRESENTATIVE LAST WEEK I WOULD GET MY $ BACK BUT NOW BEING TOLD NO. It took an hour and a half to get a truck that we had an appointment for. We were initially told the truck was on its way back and would be there in 11 minutes. As we waited the man who was working with us went outside. About a half an hour later I went to the front desk to ask the general manager if there was an update and to ask where the man we were originally working with had gone. She told me that he was hooking up a trailer hitch and that we would have to wait for him to return. Meanwhile other customers are being helped and getting trucks. Another half hour later my husbend went out to check what was going on with the man we were originally working with. He said to go speak to the general manager again and that she would help us. I went back up to speak with her and ask her if we could take the truck that had just come in. She said it needed to be checked in first. A half hour later I went up again to ask her if she knew when the truck would be checked in. At this point she began yelling at me and said if I was not patient I could go somewhere else. When we finally did get the truck it smelled strongly of weed. I will never be returning to this location and will try to avoid going to another uhaul ever again.Trent B.

Customer service very rude. Didn't smile, didn't acknowledge me while I was waiting. We didn't know how to detach the auto transport so they told us to take the straps off and wait. They were stuck and my husband who is on blood thinners cut his hand trying. The manager got it loose and said she'd come back to help detach the transport. We drove off the care in less than 3 minutes. The manager never returned. We watched her spray a van. If we could see her, she could see us. She still wouldn't help us. I guess they were too concerned with having their pet dog at a business establishment rather than helping customers. I hate uhaul and hope I never have to use them again. The woman at the counter was extremely rude and completely uninterested in assisting. She was more interested in playing on her cell phone. When I asked for assistance with mobile check-in, she just kept repeating the same thing over and over, never once looking up from her phone. There were two women there. The customer service person is a tyrant. Customers are there to meet her needs, not the other way. We couldn't have the supplies we reserved because she was saving them. We had asked for a full tank of gas - as far as she was concerned, we should be grateful for getting the truck at all. The entire pickup took and hour -- despite us reserving and checking in online. She told a co-worker not to help a family struggling with a car tow because they hadn't asked initially. (The other coworker did help and got us our supplies. It's a disgrace the way Uhaul does business. I made a reservation a month in advance. On the day of the pickup I was told there was no truck. I only got a truck after I argued with them. The local Uhaul store hardly ever Ickes up the phone and when the call bounces, you get placed on hold for 10 or 20minutes. I could go on. Uhaul is a dysfunctional organization.Timothy C.

The employee at the uhaul place double charged me for the rental even though I returned the truck an hour early. She double charged me for the safe move $28 instead of $14. She double charged me for rental $39 instead of $19. I called and she said I had to come in the store instead of resolving over the phone. Really?! You rip me off charging my credit card double the rate and you expect me to come into the store instead of easily resolving over the phone? Was scheduled for an 8 AM pickup of a moving truck. When I checked in online at 8 AM, the UHaul app said it the truck would now be issued by a staff member and was not available for self pickup. Had to wait with another customer for an hour who had a similar problem. When we attempted to ask a staff member about the issue, the other customer was told by a staff member that â€œhe was not answering questions until the store opened at 9 AMâ€. I will not be returning to this location- it seemed that no one wanted to be bothered with questions, and no one was willing to help.Gino I.
I had a 10.4 mile trip, filled up gas tank for $6.98, but was still charged $11.88 for 2 GL of fuel, which doesn't seem right. The U-Haul app on my smartphone didn't let me do mobile check out as well, it redirected me to a website, which kept resetting any entered information, so I had to go to the counter and return keys manually to an employee.VLADIMIR S.

The truck I rented was in an accident prior to me renting it & I was charged $300. Made my account in the negative. So it would be NICE if this was corrected. And hopefully this doesn't happen again to the next person. Customer service reps are TRASH .. Ariah Hall to be exact with his NASTY ATTITUDE. I called the police and they cleared up that it was NOT ME who was in that accident with the truck so NEXT TIME charge the CORRECT PERSON!!!! Please ensure you have enough staff on hand. When I was picking up my trailer on Sunday morning, there were two cashiers and about a dozen people in line. Every time someone finished checking out, that cashier had to leave their post to help that person get their uhaul from the lot. One of the worst Uhauls I've ever experienced. The UHaul I drove should be decommissioned. Driver's side door did not even close shut because it was broken. The truck had 160k+ miles on it and drove terribly. Lift gate in back would constantly get jammed. Terrible experienceRyan G.

I reached at this location around 2:30 PM and waited for service until 20 mins. There were 3 employees at reception who walked in after I had waited, of which one them Ariah was very rude. He asked me if I had a booking in the past and when I confirmed that I had one but had to cancel due to bad weather he insisted that I make another online booking. I asked if I could be served at the counter but he rudely mentioned that he cannot help me and I should do it online. There were 2 other employees sitting idle at the reception counter in front of their computers who were idle and watching this but did not help me. When I questioned them for Ariah's rude behavior, I was told that he was busy and I was asking a busy person. I believe if someone is busy they ask others to help the customer instead he said he will not give me service if I don't reserve a vehicle online. My only question to U-haul is why do you hire people who don't want to serve customers in person and treat them with respect. I will NEVER go to this U-haul location and socialize this incident on Twitter and Facebook . I also pray that these selfish people get a taste of their own bitter talk, in fact they will! what goes around comes around. From U-haul's end I would expect to take disciplinary action at this location for employees who don't take in person reservations just because they don't want to or feel they are busy while other employees sit idle at their desk. You are asking us to rate the locations but not *your* service: We reserved our U-Haul 2 months in advance. The night before we were set to pick up our U-Haul in Charlottesville VA, we received an email stating that our location was changed to 2 hours away from Charlottesville to a location in West Virginia, which would require a 4 hour round trip drive to pick it up on top of the 8 hour round trip drive back and forth the Charlottesville. This last minute change kept us on the phone for an hour. No one with any authority to resolve the matter was available. Tough luck was the response. We were left having to reserve a trailer instead of a 10' truck. Our drop off location was also changed at the last minute, which required a 90-minute round trip instead of the 10 minute away location we reserved. This service is very poor. With 2 months' notice, you should be able to confirm equipment and location at the time of booking without last minute changes and no one available with any authority to resolve the matter.Vincent S.
