Don't lie to customers. I booked a one-way truck and when I arrived they didn't have the truck available, but had a return truck available. Not only was this a huge inconvenience to drive the truck back to the pickup spot, they charged for the additional mileage that was due to the return (again, an inconvenience to the customer), despite confirming they would waive the mileage. This is my third experience in this facility and definitely the worst one! The lower storages are not suitable any longer with the rapid growing change in climate control ( this is the truth that we all have to face now and not later ) . Not make them drive two hours out of their way to pick up a vehicle that was promised in the location I selected when I made my reservation!! Im sure there were several locations closer than Newport, RI that should have had a 15 foot truck available to rent. I was called the day before pick up and â€œtoldâ€ I had to drive two hours out of my way to pick up my rental. When I asked why the young lady was fairly rude and said, â€œIt's a one way rental so take it or leave it, that's all I can tell youâ€. If it hadn't been less than 24 hours away I would have rented from another company. Very poor customer service!!Stanley J.

There is a ton of broken glass in the parking lot - the lot itself is covered in dirt (the road is currently under construction) I let the guy working at UHaul know about it but I'm sure it's still there . Be aware so you don't pop your tires !NYCOLE M.

The trailer's brakes locked up on the highway, and it caught on fire. It was a frightening experience. The trailer burned so bad, it was a total loss. When I tried to call this location, the phone time wait while on the side of the highway nearly 30 minutes. I had to stay in a hotel, incurred other expenses. Bad business altogether.Daniel O.

The reservation system is a bit much. It said I had my truck reserved but I needed all additional stuff that I was not aware of. Pictures, why do I need my headshot? And why additional contacts?? I had not seen the email when the online form was done so I got there and my rental was not ready because of this, knowing someone is coming to pick up a vehicle why wouldn't someone contact me to let me know there were more hurdles to rent a filthy truck? The guy in the store helped me. He was great. But I waited for 45 minutes to get to him. I had movers waiting you coat me additional 200 bucks. I am not happyMichael O.

The new manager is absolutely horrible. Not only did he not say hello when I entered but he literally said nothing. I had to prompt everything and suggest options and he still didn't say anything. When I left he didn't say thank you or goodbye. When I came back with the truck there was a doorbell to ring and I waited 15 minutes before the manager arrived and stared at me, I had to say that the keys were in the truck. He again said nothing, didn't ask how the truck was or even hello. I went in to get a receipt and he handed it to me with no thank you for your business or even a goodbye. This after spending almost $1,000 at this location this time. I couldn't tell him that the brakes were a bit soft or that the transmission felt like it was slipping or that a bag of garbage was left in the cab of the truck because he turned his back and walked away from me. I did notice that he had earphones on the entire time. Very professional. This location is having major construction on the roads leading up to it and in front of it and is a headache to get to now and with the lack of professionalism and customer service, I'll head elsewhere and I typically rent from this u-Haul location 10-15 times per year.PETER M.
The person at time of pick helped me hook everything up, made sure all of the connections were on properly and did a safety check to ensure all lights, signals and latches were working before I left the facility. The autotransport had a flat tire the day of pickup. I would recommend that all equipment is inspected and tested prior to the day of reservation to ensure there arent any mechanical issues.Angela A.
Rear driver tire had a slash thru majority of its side. Would be nice if UHaul did their own safety inspection before putting a vehicle back in service. No issue switching trucks, but the truck with the slash NEVER should have been placed in service in the first place.MARK G.

Picking up was a nightmare. We signed up for 7:30 with the mobile pick up. The app didn't work, which ended up requiring help from customer service with extremely long wait. Once solved, the location did not make it clear that they keep the keys in the vehicle and used systems different than the website mentioned. We lost over an hours worth of rental time and moving time due to the bad pick up and had to rush to be done in the 6 hours we booked. We were not given the rental from the time we actually got the truck and left the lot so we paid for time lost due to problems with the company despite us being on time. NO effort to give us any reimbursement for this. Not ideal.Doug P.

The Crew on site was terrific...very personable and attentive. Everything was great, until I had to use the restroom, just to urinate. It was very clean...the entire facility was impeccably clean.. But, the restroom - the smell of sewage was so strong, so wretched, I nearly vomited. I did not even pee...just got out as fast as I could to catch my breath. The MovingHelp.com 2 man team that I hired from Mega Lifters and paid $180.00 never showed up. I have heart failure that is why I hired Mega Lifters to help me move !! I had to load/unload the U-Haul truck all by myself. No one at U-haul even bothered to help me !! FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 HOUR TRUCK RENTAL COST ME A TOTAL OF $127.58 with all types of fees and extra taxes. I wasted about a 1/4 quarter tank of gas and was charged $37.35. The gas tank had 1/2 tank when I rented it !! I'll never rent a U-HAUL truck or hire Mega Lifters ever again !!Anthony F.

I still have not received a confirmation email that I returned the trailer yesterday to the RI location on Connell Ave. For the original pickup location on South Cobb Pkwy in Marietta Ga. the trailer was not there even though I called to confirm the day before. The original pickup location also billed my credit card for the full rental amount before I arrived and discovered they did not have a trailer. I had to drive to another location that fortunately had a trailer. The next location that I did pick up a trailer hooked My wiring incorrectly and told my my tow vehicle must not be wired correctly. The turn signals on the trailer worked opposite of the signal in my SUV. That would have been a disaster on my 1,000 mile drive. I then discovered the adapter for the wiring connection was put in upside down by the U haul person. I attached it correctly and the signals worked correctly. Overall not a good experience with this rental.JAMES B.

BUYER BEWARE! the unit is smallish but ok. When I reserved I was told I had a ground floor unit. when I got to the place on move in day I was told no ground floor units available of the size I wanted, that's not cool. When I asked about a bigger unit ground floor I was told there were none. I moved into a second floor unit, no elevator, I wasn't told there was no elevator when they told me I couldn't be on the ground floor. After loading in I decided to look around I found a unit on the first floor vacant. I went and inquired at the desk and lo and behold I got it for about 10 bucks a month more than I was already paying. The whole bait and switch scam stinks. The system for getting into the lockers is antiquated and wasn't well explained. They shouldd have a picture of the entrance way and expain to you with visuals how you get in; because the desk guy was totally unclear. You have to pay extra for 24hour access, which again is just another bogus upsell. I only need the space short term and the storage location is near me or I'd have gone else where. However, yes the staff guy who checked me was friendly which is the only reason I didn''t grade this place beyond poor. Oh, and one last thing, they have sent me four emails and two texts bugging me to review them. I wanted to just let it go but they wouldn't let me. so sorry folks here's your review, your place is not good.Henry B. | First Impressions
