I feel VERY EXPLOITED by U-Haul. I have used U-HAUL several times each year for a variety of purposes, but I will refrain from that now. I shopped for a moving truck, and found that Budget's $850 fee for a week of a 16-foot truck, going 2000 miles was far better than U-Haul's $1500 fee, for a comparable truck at the time, location and distance. However, I determined late that I needed a little more capacity, and larger trucks were either not available, or far more expensive (more than $3000). I did find that I could get a 12 ft closed trailer from U-Haul, and the Budget truck had a good hitch and towing capacity, so I thought I had my problem of 27 medium boxes solved. But NO, first the manager of the U-Haul location claimed he could not rent a trailer to a Budget truck operator, but after he called headquarters, he learned he was allowed to. However, then we learned where the real glitch was. The electrical connections between the Budget Truck and the U-Haul trailer were in-compatible, and while U-Haul has many adapters (I use one on my Dodge Durango regularly), it does not have the adapter for the Budget truck, which needs 4 wires to be slipped into 4 distinct slots. So I was unable to add that needed moving capacity for the $440 the trailer was supposed to cost, and I had to quickly find another 250 Cu-Ft of moving capacity somewhere? Of course, the only solution was U-Haul, but it was a $2800 stupid U-Box. So because U-Haul doesn;'t, or won't have an adapter for a Budget Truck to their trailers, they could gouge me for another $2400, doubliing my total moving costs, including truck, hotels, meals, gas, etc. So you should warn all your next customers that you plan to gouge them by having very expensive trucks (nearly twice what Budget charged) and trailers that are electrically incompatible with Budget, preventing the addition of a little more moving capacity, unless you have already overpaid for a U-Haul truck.Mark V.

Great location. They were open for my parents return around 7pm which we didn't expect but was so glad they were. He explained the return details well and let us know that everything was fine and we may even receive a partial refund for mileage/gas!Tasha G.
The workers there attached the tow dolly to my truck. And loaded my car onto the dolly. They failed to release the parking brake on my car. I got maybe a 1/4 mile down the road and noticed smoke coming from my car. I pulled over and that is when I found the brake still engaged on my car. Uhaul REFUSED to offer me any help. I had to call AAA to switch out my tire. Their negligence cost me a brand new tire ruined. A night at a local motel along with the added expense there. I had to wait until the next day to have a new non matching tire mounted. Now I have to buy a new matching tire. I'm out about $700 bucks.Mike S.

My overall experience with Uhaul was poor. It felt as if the workers could not care less about my business and me spending my hard earned money with uhaul. I ordered a 20 ft truck with a trailer and have to drive almost 40 miles out of the way to pick up the trailer. At the same time I was not offered a dedication in gas/mileage for the travel. I also called other companies and was quoted prices far cheaper than what uhaul was â€œwillingâ€ to offer. Because of this I canceled my uhaul and order front a cheaper company with better rates and better costumer service. I would not recommend uhaul to a friend based off of my experience and the prices.deondra I.
This was probably the worst experience I had using uhaul. This location was very unpleasant and unprepared. I called to have my reservation rescheduled, which was confirmed. Only to find out the reservation was canceled. When I finally got through to traffic to get a new Uhaul I was told my reservation would be at 9 but show up at 9:30 to give the workers time to clean the Uhaul. I then received a call at 9:03 with them sarcastically asking if I knew I had a reservation at 9 and that I was late. Communication throughout this company is terrible. I was scheduled for a one way Uhaul in a different state and the original drop off location was a abandoned building and had a number that was disconnected. I then call this location back only to be put on hold for 15 minutes and then when I called back I had no answer. I had to travel an extra 20 mins to find a new Uhaul location that was willing to help and take the truck. Something that can be done to improve for the next customer is properly train your employees and make sure there is enough help so that the phones can get answered.Jamesha G.

This location neglected to notice the uhaul didn't have working car charging ports. I assume you do some kind of inspection before saying the uhaul is okay to rent. I realized this 6 hours into my 13 hour drive to TN. 5 months pregnant a dead cell phone which was my gps and I was stranded. Thank god for my car being on an auto transport I got out on the busy highway at night and turned my car on to charge my phone. I had to repeat this process numerous times which was very dangerous all because you failed to do the proper inspection. And no I couldn't go to a gas station and go in to charge my phone because I have my animals with me. It was the worst experience of my life.Emily F.

They gave me and 10 ft when I reserved an 15 ft and the truck was in dire need of maintenance, and I wasn't told that it had no ramp , they then gave me a 15 ft and that one was in such bad shape maintenance wise that I only move no. - breakable items and rented another one for my other things â€œbreakable â€œ so I was very disappointed in U-haul !!TEIA C.
I had reserved a 6x12 enclosed trailer and it was not available. I was given a 5x8 enclosed trailer instead which was not big enough. My new location was about 1-1/2 hours from my old residence and I had to make 2 trips. At least I was notified ahead of time, but this was still very frustrating and is not uncommon. I did get $50 back because my reserved equipment was not available, but the time, effort and frustration of making 2 trips was not adequately compensated by $50.Kirkland G.

Went through a three ring circus getting the truck. Had a confirmation for a twenty foot truck and the store didn't know where it was. Told me I might need ti go to another location that was a minimum 90 minutes from me. Finally did get the truck at that location. Truck rode rough but did the job Would not recommend U-Haul to anyone. Still can't understand why someone can't pick up their desired size truck a their local store rather than in my case 40 minutes away when there was a store two minutes away from where I was living. The uhaul boxes that were paid up front were not delivered on tme and I spent over 15 hours on the phone waiting for a representative in which I was hung up on several times. I had to cancel movers in which I was only compensated supposedly $75 in which I paid $209. The boxes were supposed to be delivered Friday 4-16-22 at 8:30 . I had to call and speak to a manager to get them delivered that day because the delivery person never took them. It was a mess and costed me several hours of my time plus I had to hire movers on the weekend which costed more. The movers never showed up so I had to get other movers again from the uhaul moving help site. in which was also a nightmare. Things were broken. Heavy Boxes were piled on to my fragile boxes and again no compensation. They had no dollies or equipment in which they said they did. My uhaul items were damaged. The manager of the store that it was sent from hung up on me and was so rude. I had to buy dishes, air mattresses, tv dinners and a cardboard table and chairs because my things did not arrive until 5 days later. Several representatives hung up on me after I waited for hours on the phone and explained my situation asking where my boxes were and hoping for a resolution. This was a NIGHTMARE. My furniture items are broken. The uhaul boxes arrived damaged. I could not even take my lock of the door because it was so damaged. Upon pickup, I was not alerted to watch for a text about the vehicle condition, so by the time I found the vehicle and drove to the first point of loading, the link had expired and I could not report any of the prior damage on the truck. Also, there was a bowl of fruit salad in the cargo area of the truck, which was discovered only after driving it to the storage area. Please ensure that clients are aware of a text survey link - this may proved to be problematic later for me, given that the truck was involved in an accident and I have no way to document the damage in place upon pick-up.Elizabeth L.

This location is very busy. When I picked up, I saw three employees. Only one was waiting on a customer ahead of me. Finally another employee jumped on a computer and waited on me. My total wait time for pick up was 20 minutes or longer. When I returned the vehicle, it was the same scenario. I understand that employees are hard to find as we run a business as well. However, having employees who seemingly aren't contributing to getting customers in and out is frustrating. I will rent from Uhaul again but will not likely use this location.lynnell B.

Bethany Romans claimed a glitch in the system moved me out of my brand new unit that she gave May 27th 2021 and my original unit 1375, which is why I wasn't getting rent due notices for unit 1386. She did not know where my things were so for two months I was dealing with the idea that uhaul lost, stole, or sold my things. Someone else's name was put onto my unit yet no payments were made. Ridiculous! I was lucky I took pictures and documented everything to prove it was my things in the unit. As Bethany was fixing HER mistake I and my emergency contact started to receive nasty threatening late notices. I also received an absolutely devastating and threatening lien and sale notice that sent me into a panic attack. I am a rape and abusive victim, my children dealt with abuse as well from their father. We were literally running away from him and trusting uhaul to house our things during this incredibly difficult time. Instead uhaul made me experience anxiety, stress, fear, and panic. I had to drop all of my life and plans and a lot of money, to spontaneously drive from Michigan to North Carolina to retrieve my things as I did not feel they were safe any longer. When I arrived I was able to use the new keys Bethany fedex to me to unlock one lock. But there was a second lock with black tape on it, essentially uhaul holding my things hostage. I had to inform the staff yet again of the situation but they could not find the keys to that lock and had to manually remove the entire lock mechanism from the unit door. So that I could take my things. I absolutely refused to pay anything more and had to say I will call the cops or fire department to cut the lock off. All of this took even more time out of the important things I had to and while there I was shaking in fear that my ex abusive husband would show up and get me. Also during the two months my things were missing uhaul was absolutely impossible to get a hold of. I could never get the actual store on the phone and wait times were hours long. The whole company is a joke and we, my friends family and anyone that will listen to me, will never use them again. Call me, Grace, 5178972146 for more explanation and to hear the devastating impact this experience has had on my life. I believe Bethany Romans should be fired for her incompetence in this situation. They did not have the storage unit I reserved, so they said they would give me a larger unit for a discounted price, then told me I could not get 30 days free because they cant discount a unit and provide 30 days free and gave me a hard time. I have used this moving and storage several times why because of the employee's especially Jennifer she always found time to make sure my truck rental,my unit were always perfect! Everyone was very friendly and the place was clean and convenient. I did get incorrect information, was told I would get a month free when asking about the prices and when I came back to rent was told that was only for one way rentals. The sales person also rented me a van for the day and so knew I was not a one-way rental. It would have been good to have been given a discount bc if this mistake since it factored into me choosing to use the storage. Also was not told that I could only access storage unit during business hours. I found this out when I was there selling something from the unit and the employee came to tell me they were closing and I would not have access. This would have been useful to know up front.
