Your main reservation computer systems don't communicate with the outside dealerships and customer emails . The price you receive after verbally talk to a central csr doesn't reflect in the email you receive or at the pick up location. Makes for added stress. Then being bombarded with being asked to tow a trailer with someone else's goods to a destination even after texting â€œ Noâ€ in reply. Then called to complain about the text and get hung up on . The facilities were clean. The staff however were rude anytime I spoke with them at my location. If I was 1 day late they locked me out and called my friends non stop almost to the point of harassment. When I called the facility the person that answered says hi I'm going to put you on hold. Compare to other Uhaul locations this is by far the best one. I have a Storage unit at this location and had a wonderful experience. I told myself I will use this location if I ever need another Truck again. With other locations I had really bad experiences to the point that I wanted to use Budget Rentals. Had a hard copy of my pickup time and unit from Shoppers. When I arrived no unit. While the help tried to contact U-haul another customer told me they did not have his unit the day before. Finally I was told that they had moved my reservation to another location. I was given a phone # which I called to make sure it was there which it was. This location was further away.Orrin L.
I got moved from the location in Tempe very close to my house to this location 10 miles away. I got a call the morning of my reservation saying they had no truck for me. I get over to this location and she tells me the truck has been rented. I put up a stink and she gave me the truck. She told me she would give me free miles but never did. Well one thing I was upset about is I had a reservation for a 5 x 10 x8 climate control and got there and was told first come first serve. So I had no unit then was told they had a10x20 and it was outside now I would have to pay 163 a month not happy at all. All of my families stuff fill a corner of the unit. I would love a Unit inside and some kind of discount cause that's what I reserved and was told was waiting for me. We drove down here all the way from Maine to help my mother out cause she is ill. Our trailer was so dirty inside and outside. The handles were rusted and the tires weren't in the best of shape. We actually had to hose the trailer down once we got it home. Also the customer service guy said this wasn't â€œhis normal jobâ€ so he really didn't seem to know what he was doing at all when he hooked up the trailer to our truck.Kristin C.

The one woman that I had to deal with by the name of Margaret was completely rude and incompetent. She made me wait at the counter for at least 10 minutes while she typed stuff on the computer that could've waited. Then proceeded to make sticky notes before helping me. People like Margaret need to retire or find a job they actually like that doesn't involve people. She will continue to give this establishment bad reviews losing them revenue. Better customer service and better upkeep of vehicle. I rented an Silverado truck and it had numerous chipped glass in the windshield and the body was scrapped on both sides. The interior dash and floors were not clean. I returned the truck early and was charged for the next day and was told I brought in late and other family had to make other arrangements. The front desk agent didn't look up my rental before telling me that even if I brought it back early I was going to still be charged for the days requested at time of reservation. I have used an different location and never been treated like that so I will never go back and I will only use the location on Broadway and country club on mesa.Elsa B.

This experience is reflected from my Nov 2020 experience. I had an issue with the STAFF. The staff. the vehicle was fine, BUT AS I ASKED THE STAFF HOW TALL THE OPENING WAS AND HE SAYS 7 FEET. THE QUESTION CLEARLY REQUESTS "THE OPENING", NOT THE INSIDE HEIGHT. BECAUSE OF THAT THE RENTAL DID NOT ACCOMMODATE MY NEEDS AND I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED THE VEHICLE. THE TOTAL TRIP BACK AND FORTH TO MY HOUSE WAS ONLY 3 MILES. BUT I WAS STILL BE CHARGED THE TOTAL PRICE OF THE RENTAL BECAUSE I WAS MISLED BY YOUR STAFF ON THE VEHICLE'S STRUCTURE. Reserved a truck at this location. They sent me to another location that wasn't open. Then I was sent back to the original location just for a upgrade. The representative was not okay with me having the check in on my phone and was charging me full price after another rep mentioned I receive a $50 refund and free upgrade. I've been a resident in the Scottsdale/Mesa area for 60 years and this is by far the cleanest, best maintained and well managed Uhaul's in the valley. Eric and his staff are terrific! I would highly recommend this particular storage facility to anyone looking for a safe, secure, clean and well maintained facility for your storage needs and I would definitely return to this Uhaul for any future storage or rental needs if necessary. The agent that assisted was combative and did not acknowledge that she had the wrong account name and reservation information on the screen after our attempts to correct her 3 times. My partner and I tried to correct her and she would immediately interrupt us to say she knew exactly what she was doing ... by yhe third attempt she unwillingly let us finish our statement and finally acknowledged that she had the wrong account. The phone-based/online check-in process seemed very good until I had to check in. There was little instruction as to how to take the license picture (which I did) and the system (for some reason) didn't accept it though my license is new and clear. I do online check deposits with my bank all the time without issue. The system replied that my alternate contact was the same as me- which it wasn't and eventually just hung. That was a strange error and actually wasn't true. So I had to go into the counter-which I didn't want to do because of Covid-19; hence why I tried online. The agent didn't know if I should cancel or modify the reservation and struggled trying to get the reservation to process for a long time, eventually saying that "they" couldn't read my license picture because it had a shadow across it. Not sure why this would be an issue since every character in the picture was clear. The online process needs refinement to work properly and without issues, apparently.James H.

The suspension was not well maintained. The trutk needs a wheel alignment and it shakes when riding over freeway lane markers. Clean windows would have been nice and I could have lived without clumps of someone else's nose tissues in the door pocket bins. The vehicle was parked so it's driver's mirror was 2â€ from the next truck's mirror. In fact I had to enter from the passenger side and had to be very aware to not back up or it would have collided with the other truck's mirror. Your representative (Margaret) in the office had an attitude a mile long. She acted as though she didn't really want to help us. We were the only ones there for a while so it wasn't like she was swamped and busy. She wasn't friendly and every time we asked a question about equipment pricing, she acted bothered that she had to look it up. I'm not trying to get her fired. Maybe she was having a really bad day or something, or maybe she needs some training on customer service. No one should get an attitude when coming in to give you business. If we had had another option, we would have gone somewhere else for this reason alone. The gentleman who helped with the equipment was helpful and nice.Michelle R.

My truck had spilt soda in the cab seats and then had several mechanical problems. I wasted half the day working with roadside assistance just to be told that it would still let me make my move and then they'll fix it when it gets back. The truck proceeded to shake so hard at any speed over 40. It would shake so much that the cab felt like it would break off from the rest of the truck. The break fix light would sporadically turn on and beep constantly while driving. I reported it to this location and was told the manager would call. Still no call. Only communication was telling me that I'll be paying full price for a defective truck that lost me half a days with of work that I can't ever replace. Worst experience with renting a truck.Justin J.

when I got everything in Pensacola Florida smooth, but when I got to Arizona the drop off spot that's when it all went bad. I was not treated like a customer and I was even threatend by some U-Haul employee who was very rude and thought I was going to have to protect myself physically bc how this guy from U-Haul was very aggressive with me and I don't think a paying customer should be treated like that. Another employee on East main Street sent me on a wild goose chase with wrong addresses to U-Haul storage locations. Out of all the associates from U-Haul in Arizona there was one who knew all about customer service and his name was Anthony from your U-Haul on 219 E McKellips Rd. Brought the truck up to the dropoff tent and waited inside my vehicle for 5 minutes but no staff came out. Figured they were busy inside so I would just walk in. No customers were inside and two employees were sitting there. I let them know that I was dropping off my vehicle and the manager even told the one employee that he had put up a big screen in front of their desks so they would know when a customer was waiting outside in the tent. The person helping me seemed very lazy and could care less about helping me with this drop off and couldn't get his handheld device to work outside. Before I even showed up I knew I was not going to be able to make the drive back because I blew out my back on the first trip. I called UHaul ahead of time and gave them all my information and my reservation # and told them of the situation because I wanted to know the penalty. I was assured it would be between $200-$500 max. So when I went in to pay I was told $750. I asked the employee to explain and he said its "probably just the mileage and gas STUFF". How is there not some itemized list of charges. I asked to see the itemized list and he just kept saying he didn't know. Mind you while this is happening the employee next to him is dealing with another customer asking why she was overcharged and that employee just kept saying he couldn't find her reservation #, name, and vehicle number. Not exacting building confidence in my situation with it costing more money. If it was right why was I told differently from 1-800-Go-U-HAUL?!? If it was wrong that is almost worse but his lazy attitude no manager assistance and watching two kids not know how to easily help customers at the same time showed some real red flags.Andrew H.

When I talked to customer support on the app, they passed the buck back to me and wouldn't re-route me to another location and couldn't do anything from their end. Very upset about that. Offer the customer a pre-rental check list so individuals will know how to properly inspect their rental for the purposes of safety and accountability. Plus, offer a certified inspection of the rental covering maintenance, and tire / brake wear. It showed open until after Christmas when I got a call from Uhaul National. I received my receipt shortly after the call with a return date of 12/26. I've always held Uhaul in high esteem. It is my preferred choice for any moving services. I repeatedly had great experiences with this company. Not only have I been a customer numerous times, but I was also an Authorized Delear for Uhaul with at least 17 to 20 trucks at a location I moved away from.In my time running a Uhaul services, not under any condition have I treated any customer with the irreverence they gave me. I trained my employees how to speak to customers with dignity and respect, no matter the situation, the customer will always be treated the right way. They need help. Upon my arrival, I immediately did not feel welcomed. I did not feel the hospitality that I have always received from Uhaul's great customer service. The employees did not seem to care in the slightest. They have no regard for customers' concerns. I asked Margaret, one of the employees, if they had a lost and found because we were missing boxes with our belongings. She quickly responded with a "NO." We then asked for the general manager hoping that he could be a little more helpful than Margaret. I asked the same question and he said "RIGHT HERE" and pointed beside him where there was nothing. I felt utterly disrespected. That is not how you handle customer service. They had an immense amount of attitude at this location and they don't seem to care about their customers and concerns. This wasn't the first time I had a terrible experience at this same location. They had the same inferior attitude and inattentive work ethic when I was checking in my equipment and getting a storage unit the first time I arrived. The price I paid for a small unit was excessive. I was paying $69+ for a no climate control. Then it was raised several dollars more. Maggie provided information regarding location of our RV site, how to access (via access card) and hours of access to the storage facility. She let me know that for a small monthly fee, we could have access 24/7. I passed on that option as I cannot imagine a situation where we would need to park or access our RV after the standard access hours. We tried the card and it was noted that it may take a few hours until it was activated. I was provided with a temporary code so I could go to the site and have any questions addressed while I was still on the premises. I took a look and confirmed that there was a dump station as that was important to me. Maggie was kind, helpful and provided excellent customer service. Eric, your Agent Maggie was amazing. We had an uncontrollable event where the 20' truck we reserved was not returned to the location as scheduled. We were offered a 15' truck but weren't sure our stored belongings would fit. Maggie searched every local location for a truck for us and was able to secure a trailer (free of charge) to make up the difference in cu sq ft. She also added an extra day and mileage. The trailer was at another location and the dealer there flat out refused to give us the trailer unless we paid for it. In the end, made the 15' trailer work (hubby is great at Tetris). Maggie again came to our rescue the next day when my husband was checking out and closing the storage unit contract, which was in my name. She authorized the closure which we very much appreciated. There was only one employee who I want to work with from the entire staff and that is Miss Maggie. It seems that she is the only one there who knows how to talk to customers, has knowledgable information about UHAUL, and is professional to customers. Every other person (except for another woman) was unprofessional and it was confusing/difficult to work with them. When I went to close the storage unit facility out another male employee, Tyca I believe his name is, told me I was good to go but didn't go and check my unit at all. He seemed to be in a hurry as he was getting ready to finish his shift. At the time I had believed him until a week later when I received a late notice saying that I was fined for a late payment. I called UHAUL and talked to a woman on the phone who was able to fix the entire mess up but I was still annoyed that I had to go through that ordeal when I was told I had nothing else further to worry about from a different employee. Additionally, we had rented a 15 foot UHAUL, dolly, and car transport that same day so I had different moving pieces that made the entire day more complicated for us. After Miss Maggie had left for the day, I felt that my services were disorderly and I had to get in front of an employee if I wanted any help at all - otherwise I would be waiting a very long time until someone asked me if I needed help. Overall, I will rate this Mesa UHAUL as average because Maggie is a wonderful employee but the other men are unprofessional and don't seem to communicate well with each other or the customers. Furthermore, I'm very happy that when I called my problem was fixed. I wouldn't suggest this UHAUL to a friend though because of how many issues I encountered unless they strictly do their business with Maggie or another woman at the establishment.Azucena M. | Overall Experience

I started out at one uhaul facility on Apache Blvd and the 101 I rented there for about four months then the guy I was sharing space with started to hang out there a bit to much and started associating with some other people there and all them started to be in my unit as well so I thought the best thing to do was remove myself from the situation and at the same time my family member was talking to the president of the company and was letting him know what was going I thought I was all good and wanted to stay with uhaul so I rented another space at mckellips and Mesa Dr...it's called uhaul riverview....I even payed an extra ten dollars this month for the 24 HR drive in...well within one week they came and told me my 24 HR service was being takin away due to what was going on at the last unit I had and I had to have office hours to be able to get into my unit...no not gate hours as though that's what I thought office hours 7 am to 7 pm..I was really upset I started to cry cause I did nothing wrong buy move out and distance myself from the issue.i also asked if they was going to return my ten dollars for that service and they told me no they kept it..so I went through the rest of that month with those rules And when I went to pay on my unit I asked if my hours could be back to normal I was. Asking for gate hours at this time no 24 HR thing ...I was told they couldn't do it cause of the issue at the other unit at a totally different facility and I did nothing but move..I told Eric the manager there that I was going to move my thing then and give my money to someone who respected my money and time...I would never recommend uhaul to anyone I was treated as if I did something wrong and I even had to pay for it so if anyone would like to know go to right space storage they are cheaper the space is bigger and the employees there treat you with respect and kindness....Broadway and long more in Mesa check them out stay away from uhaul they only want your moneyvirginia m. | Overall Experience

I rented a 20 ft truck for a cross country move. The big deciding factor for me was the free month of storage. When I got to my destination I was told I would only get a unit of up to 10x10, if they had one available. Otherwise they could only give me a 5x10 unit. As you know the contents of a full 20 ft truck will not fit in a 5x10 unit. After much discussion the storage manager Maggie decided, out of the goodness of her heart to give me two 5x10 units but only if she had them side by side, which luckily she did. Going to another location would have been costly since I had to return the truck to that location to get the free month since I had already dropped the car trailer off there the day before. It was only with a lot of work and adjusting to get my belongings to fit. I only needed the unit a week, as I had anticipated. Checking out was better since Maggie wasn't there. She was borderline rude, condescending to customers and other staff, and made me feel like she was doing me huge favors. I later learned she was wrong. A family member who moved the week before, and rerurned to another location got a 10x15 unit, same size truck, same origination point, one week earlier. I will not return to that location and will tell anyone who asks not to use that location either.
