I'm very upset over the truck that was rented to me. It was very dirty, very old and out dated, damaged all over and frankly unsafe, the head lights were pretty much non existing could barely see driving at night and that truck needs to be takin out of service. I would like a refund.Brian B.
There are a few things you can drastically improve on. The first thing is being transparent about the pricing. When I made my reservations the clerk told me I would save money by renting in Ohio. Never said anything about a flat rate. So to my astonishment when the clerk in Ohio told me about the flat rate I was stunned. Not only did it cost way more than what I was originally told it was considerably higher. It took every bit of money I had to secure the U-Haul. I had to sell some of our personal stuff to make the trip. On top of that was all I got from the clerk was "that's just the way it is." Very rude and unprofessional. I was furious. The second problem was the truck itself. The air-conditioning was not charged so I had no AC. I also came to find out there was a leak in the roof when it rained. Also the shocks were practically non existent. I felt every bump in the road. So did some of our most fragile stuff. Then to top everything off when I went to return the truck the attendant was not there. I couldn't even get my security deposit back. I have been calling every day and no answer . I am beyond upset. I would never recommend U-Haul to anyone. In fact I have made it my mission in life to cost this company as many clients as I can. And I will keep it up for as long as I can. U-Haul could of made it right but they didn't. Very unhappy and unsatisfied.Richard W.

The worker that was helping me just did my paperwork and took my payment and just handed me the keys. He just said â€œthe truck is out backâ€ I had no idea where I was going or where the truck was. I had to check 3 trucks before finding the one I rented. Luckily I know how to drive a larger truck. For someone that had never drove one would have been lost and he didn't even care to show me how to us the e brake or drive it.Michael S.
Storage facility was old and unit was on 2nd floor with no AC or cargo elevator! So if you are looking to haul all your stuff up a flight of steps, down a dim, narrow hallway, and then up a foot or two into a storage unit where you are greeted with rat poison and a bent latch, this is your spot! Staff was slow, borderline incompetent and just spectacularly unhelpful. It took an hour of discussion back and forth with manager to replace a nonfunctional keycard, despite the account holder being present. They told us to call corporate which had an hour wait time. Never received final bill, which seems very high, and then had to email them after a week to get them to close out the move-out request. Just don't ignore this review! Rent some place, any place else!! I will never darken the door of a Uhaul facility as long as I live after this miserable experience.Shirley H. | Overall Experience

I explained that the trailer I needed to rent had to accommodate a 60 inch mower and was told the 6x12 was what I needed but the inside of the trailer was plenty wide enough but unfortunately the open to load was way to small to load a 60 inch mower. I was gone with the trailer for 5 minutes and brought it back and explained that it would not work and was still charged for the trailer. I feel this was his error and not mine for not knowing the equipment he sells and rents. Very poor customer service experience in my opinion.Chad S.

I booked my U-Haul online and was told that I could pick up in one location and drop off in another with a 15 foot U-Haul. The price was given to me at $129 for the rental and 40 miles. A few days later I received a phone call stating that the location did not have any U-Haul's available for pick up and drop off in a new location. She asked if I could return the 15 foot U-Haul back in Lima and she would double my miles. After offering this she stated that there were actually no 15 foot U-Haulâ€˜s available but offered to upgrade me to a 17 foot U-Haul with 80 miles and the price would be $119. When I arrive to the store, the people behind the desk informed me that the woman on the phone was incorrect and could not give me double miles and charge me only $119. I ended up spending $166 on a U-Haul that was originally supposed to be $129. I then had to spend extra money on gas because it was a bigger truck, and I was required to travel double the miles I had planned in order to return the truck. Had I known I could not have done one way when I originally booked I would not have booked with this location. However I didn't know until a day and a half before I was supposed to pick up the truck that this was an issue. This issue seem to be resolved by talking to a representative on the phone. It was very frustrating when getting to the store to find out that they were going to charge me at least $40 more because apparently this was not allowed. It seems like there is a major disconnect between online booking, customer representatives, and stores. This is very frustrating and in the end dramatically changed the price that I was originally going to pay to use a truck.Courtney F.

Told us our equipment was in the truck and when we returned our truck told them about not having equipment we rented and the guy was really rude about it asked for a refund since we didn't use the equipment and he argued about it saying we don't get a refund that it isn't his problem we didn't get it when they clearly told us it was already in the truck very unprofessional hire nicer people who actually care about there job instead of being stuck up assholesLinda D.

The return process online is hot garbage. The website did not work well and creates a huge hassle. Just have a drop box and a number where picture could be sent because the site didn't even have the upload option like the video showed.Chris R.

Sucks I had to pay more to get a box truck because someone didn't bring back the pickup truck on time so I wasted time going a hr away to pick up a trailer thinking I was gonna be able to pull it behind the pickup truck. And I was scedualed 1pm to 1pm to give myself time in traffic to go pick up appliances and bring them home I had to return by 1130 am because someone else had the box truck they gave me rented out at that time if I couldn't make it back I woulda had to rent a even bigger truck and more money when it shouldn't of been needed. Was gonna rent a big box truck for when I move in 5 days but think I'll choose somewhere else because I don't want that to happen againJared N.

Difficult to find an employee. The truck was low on engine oil (told an employee on the return & he appeared that he did not care). Drivers seat belt did not work and there was an issue with the steering. I noticed cigarette ashes in the drivers door compartments upon picking up the truck.Doug L.

Employees were rude had one leaning on my dolley talking when i came to pick up my truck. Had to walk around back and find my uhaul in the group of them while pushing a doll that was suppose to be in the uhaul. Truck was dirty, air vents work half of the time, and had engine issues. when I returned truck the sign said to stay with vehicle and a attendant would come out, waited for awhile and had to go in to find someone. Other than that it went well. I also didn't receive any paperwork showing I returned the truck, attendant said I didn't need any.nancy P.
Firstly, we received a charge for $323 stating that we drove 325 miles that we did not drive due to someone checking in our truck incorrectly. When I checked on this, I told that the miles were consistent to the customer before me. Also the person who helped as at the location discovered that the truck at 300 miles less than the app stated that it did. After we thought this was handled and a refund was stated to be due, U-Haul charged the same charge AGAIN, putting my friend who paid for it at well over $700 in the negative in her account, and when we tried to contact uhaul about it again respectively, we both got poor attitude and a lack of effort. She had to turn to bank to reverse the charges and handle the situation due to U-Haul's over all complete incompetence and possibly criminal malevolence. I am in the process of making a BBB complaint and pursuing other options to report this to every relevant agency. You are one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. I will also be using social media to spread awareness of your possible criminal malevolence as the whole ordeal seemed like aggressive half retard embezzlement.Phillip C.

There were two other employees that had been outside helping customers I would recommend at least two other employees on a busy Saturday morning. Employees were very professional and helpful. The guy that attached the trailer to my truck didn't tighten it to the ball. I didn't notice until I was loading the vehicle and the trailer lifted straight up in the air almost causing damage to my truck and person guiding me on.Chris F.
When I dropped the truck off at this site, there's an area where you're supposed to pull up. There's a sign that said to sit inside the vehicle and wait for someone. I sat for about 10 minutes (no other customers were there) and no one came out. I eventually walked in to find the person that was supposed to be helping me leaning on the counter talking in the pickup area of the store and not paying attention to the drop off areas. I handed my keys to a different attendant and we were all good. I wouldn't say anything was "bad" at all. After all, it's just a truck drop-off, but it was kind of annoying.Logan J.

The gentleman I worked with at the Elida location told me he added the 2nd day to my reservation. I asked if I would need additional paperwork proving this and he said no. â€œIt's in the computerâ€. He told me when I arrived at my destination I could call the number on my paperwork and return the vehicle to a location of my choice. After being on the phone with Uhaul for over 2 hours total, I had to return the truck to a location that was ten miles from where I was, which was a quarter mile from where I unloaded the truck. Also, was charged $40 additional dollars for the â€œ2ndâ€day.Alicia S.

When I called about getting a storage unit I was told it could fit a 2-3 bedroom house. When I got there it could not fit that many bedrooms. I could not use it. Had to cancel it. And called around for a different storage unit, luckily I found one.Arynn D. | First Impressions

We waited for almost an hour to get the truck (the only gentlemen there was very friendly and apologetic but it did mess with our schedule.) Then after we got loaded at the first stop, my husband closed the door and locked the padlock that was chained to the truck. When we went to open the door to unload my husband realized he did not have a key for the padlock. We attempted to call the location but they were not answering the phones. The call went to a central representative who said she would message the location and they would get back with us. 3 hours later still no response and the truck was due back. I called again and this time we were transferred to the road side service people. They found a locksmith who would come out after hours on a Sunday and he showed up at 9:30 pm and cut the lock off. We had the truck unloaded at 10:30 pm and then had to return it. Due to all of this we did not get to our second location to load it and bring it home and now will have to rent a truck again!Ernest M.
Truck was not available at date and time and location requested even though the reservation was made a month in advance. Staff offered to cancel our reservation instead of trying to take care of what we reserved. Upon arrival at a location an hour away from requested location, staff handed us the keys and told us to go find the truck and drive it over to the trailer area to get the trailer. The truck had a serious issue with exhaust, it sounded like it had no muffler at all. We identified that the tag light was not working and it 45 minutes for staff to come out and install a new bulb. There was no effort from staff to provide any information nor instruction about the use/operation of the equipment. It took almost 2 hours from walking up to the counter until we were able to leave. The staff at this location were rude, non caring and do not have the customer nor the reputation of the company they work for in mind. If we had not been on a tight time line, i would have taken my business elsewhere!Brad H.

Truck was in bad mechanical order. Alignment was off so steering wheel was very cocked and had hard pull. Check engine light was one and ac would randomly stop working. The truck shook so hard on the highway I had to pull over because it made my back and stomach hurt. Gas mileage was still okay and truck was cleaned very well in cab and bed.Tyler W.

The customer service and everything else was immaculate but the storage size was not up to par. Their largest size storage was the size of a medium sized closet with low entrance and will not hold or fit large items such as couches, mattresses, and box springs. Was not well lit. Had to vigorously wave arms to get light to come on and it still didn't go on till we were walking out. Storage unit was very dark at all times. Large pipe running through the middle of it that I hit my head on several times, must be a known issue due to it being wrapped in foam which helped but still made moving anything very difficult. Late fees are outrageous, in one month its the same as the rent for the unit making it nearly impossible to catch up and not lose your belongings.martina j. | Overall Experience

The reason I didn't think the ACCESS HOURS were good for me was because I was not aware of the extra $5 to pay to be able to gain entry anytime.
