From the beginning, Uhaul changed our pick up and drop off location adding 20+ miles to our trip (for which we had to pay for). we showed up to get our rental and there was no one at the location. The store opened at 7, and at 7:45 there was still not an employee in sight. We waited for over 45 minutes until I contacted uhaul customer service, (i contacted them using live chat because there was a â€œ40-50 minute wait,â€ when calling customer service) and they gave me a phone number to contact the indy location. After calling the phone number, the person who answered informed us they would contact the general manager and call us back. I did not receive a call back. After 15 minutes of not knowing what to do, two people arrived. The lady who had the â€œownerâ€ name tag was not the friendliest, she never once apologized to us for the delay (making us miss our pickup time) nor was she in a hurry to help the customers. Instead as soon as she got there, she turned on all the lights, unlocked the doors and then left immediately to tend the storage area. On her way back she yelled at us (there were three other customers who waited with us, in the pouring rain, sitting on the sidewalk of the uhaul store, waiting to be helped) â€œthe doors are open.â€ I immediately apologized and told her i was unsure if we were welcome to go inside. Once inside, we finally got checked in (still without any apology for delay) and were given the keys without any instructions on where to find the truck that had been assigned to us. The truck was dirty, it had crumbs all in it, and the trailer had random trash throughout it. While using it to move personal property from one location to the other, it was raining and the uhaul truck collected water, to the point of having standing water. The standing water managed to soak my mattress, and bed frame. it is now terrible discolored. Further the water soaked several moving boxes with sensitive personal materials. I even took precautions putting down tarps so my belongings wouldn't get wet or dirty, but this did not help. This is the first Uhaul i have ever rented, and after my experience i do not plan on using them again.KIMBERLEE M.

The location was very helpful when we were canceled out by another Uhaul location when we can to pick up our confirmed reservation. We were able to get a rental from the Pendleton Pike within an hour and were able to complete the in-town move on the original timetable due to the help of the people at the location. It wasnt the location but the online process that slowed me down. I had an issue where it wouldn't let me return the trailer to the same location and I think I was overcharged for the time I had it. Instructions given by staff were different than the online pick up and return instructions. If we followed what the staff told us to do when dropping off, we would have never finished the online return process, which had to be done. At pick up, staff just did not care about anything. While we did not have a staff issue at pick up, we witnessed others that did and the staff could care less about the issues they were causing with reserved items not being available for another customer. They just shrugged their shoulders and told them they would refund the charges with no care about the fact that they did not have something available that the people had reserved. We reserved our truck weeks in advance and had a guaranteed reservation, but the day before they called us and said it was not available and they needed to change the reservation. No apology or anything. What is the use of reserving in advance of the guaranteed reservation is not actually guaranteed? Terrible service at this location. The online pick up process also took longer than if we had just reserved through a location. The verifying process took almost 30 minutes and we never even got a response to the chat feature for 16 minutes. Not really an online chat when it takes that long to get a response even noting that they read your message. No indication that we were in line waiting on a representative or anything. Do a proper Inspection of all vehicles before they're listed as ready to be rented and staged for the customer prior to pick-up. A Thorough Proper preventive maintenance check list for safety purposes is definitely necessary for all vehicles.l on a monthly basis. Some of these trucks have internal problems such as batteries, battery terminals, that has either corroded or has created a discharge leaving the truck battery dead and unable to start.George F.

This is the second time in a week that I have had issues with Uhaul. First, I couldn't pick up my truck on my reserved day due to the system being down. So I had to take a day off work to move. On the second visit, I was charged twice for a trailer, and then I received threats of calling the police even though I had already turned in my trailer and received a confirmation from Uhaul.WAYMON H.

The record keeping was particularly faulty. I was getting bills for storage months past the time I had already had my goods brought to my new home. First they couldn't find my U-Box, then they said I was overdue with payment when I wasn't, then they couldn't take my money because they said I wasn't in their records, and the next day my storage bill was paid automatically, they way I had set it up in the first place.Joyce K.

Renting a U-Haul typically means long lines, a dirty environment and overpriced equipment. However, this new equipment is clean, quick, and well staffed. As a whole there's to many parties evolved in transactions . A customer should be able to contact the location that they are renting from directly. A customer should not be forced to have to use online services. It's not always easy to communicate what individuals service needs may be and there's to much responses can really get complicated when renting. There was a 2 Gallon Ez fuel sales charge of $8.50 that should not be there. I asked the attendant if everything was clean & no extra charges. They said none. I filled tank within 1 mile of center. I drove 131 mi. & added 10.25 gals. 7.8 MPG shows I filled the tank.ANDREW C.
The self-checkout process... There should be a better way to assist customers when the U-Haul system isn't functioning properly. The line was out the door on two separate visits with limited staff to work the counters, several potential customers left out the store without even being acknowledged. To receive a phone call that my truck would be reported stolen due to no fault of my own was beyond my imagination!!! I was given the key, went through the checkout process and advised the staff there seemed to had been a glitch in the checkout. I was told it was okay and I was good to go and really I wasn't!! The call from corporate could have best resolved the issue by advising me to go back, but instead they told me they'd call the store and take care of it; that resulted me having to return to the store all while I was in the midst of going to a funeral!!! Had poor customer service even from the customer service phone line. Was left on hold 2 days n a row for over 30 min and they still never picked up so I hung up and this was from the store and customer service. They never even sent me confirmation that the tow dolly was returned. I was told that it was in their system but I never received confirmation. I have to keep checking my bank account to make sure I wasn't charged again.KAREC J.
It was a standard u-haul experience. The wait was short, the rental process went easily (mine usually have). The only thing is I was disappointed one employee did not seem to want to wear her mask. I couldn't rent the van because of no major credit card, which I understood, I then asked to rent the next smallest truck, she informed me she had none available, so while standing there I went online and reserved the truck she said she did not have, so I went back up to the register and she gave me problems about a text not coming through, then about my liesence because she didn't want to take it she wanted me to do it through the text that never came through, then proceeded to tell me because my son was with me she couldn't give it to me because he couldn't ride in it, so my husband took my son home in an uber, she just had excuse after excuse why she didn't want me to rent this uhaul when I have rented so many uhauls in the past, I will never go back to this location.
