This will be the last time we use uhaul. Experience was horrible from start to finish especially the Harvey location. We pulled in and walked in the building and where told I'm on the phone with my momma you have to wait. 4 minutes later is when we finally started getting help if you want to call it that. We where eligible for a free month storage in a climate controlled unit when we arrive thats not the case. They tryed to charge us for the month and then it wasn't even a controlled unit. After getting 2 managers they finally agreed to hold up to the offer. Not a climate controlled unit. We where then displaced because of hurricane Ida. We called to see if they could pro rate a few days because we where not in the area where told no very rudely. Told us that if we didn't have the stuff out by thrusday the 16 by 4 we would be charged again. We dropped everything and came to get the stuff out when I went to check out I was again almost charged for somthing that was agreed apon. After 20 minutes waiting for a manager to come assist me to figure it out and talk about the damage to my materials in the unit was rudely told nothing we can do here have to claim online. I was given the keys and told that I was all set. I paid for a dolly and was sure I'd have one on the truck because the associate went to check to make sure the had one available. When I arrived at the storage there was no dolly. When I called the store the associate just said, "you can come back and get one, we have one here." I'm like what about my mileage from having to go back and get the hand truck that was supposed to be on the U-Haul.RASHAWN R.

They charged me for an extra day, but asked me to have it back by 3 pm the same day it was originally due. They gave us a storage unit that took us 30 minutes and 3 people to get our 26 foot uhaul in and out of the row without damaging anything, I requested a climate controlled storage unit and received an outdoor one, so I'm sure all my clothes and items will smell like mildew just like the storage unit does. When we mentioned the uhaul was an nearly impossible to get to the unit the girl who was on her personal cell phone, and stayed on the phone while we were being assisted in the store, told us we'd be charged if we couldn't get it out of the spot and just left us there. I would rather backpack my furniture to my next house before I use uHaul again.Robert K.

I had a terrible experience at the Gretna location, which I had a 10am reservation but by the time I got through the long line of waiting for 1.5 hours my reservation was lost. They only had 1 person working and it took her at least 30 minutes with each customer. Terrible service I had to go to the Harvey location where I was helped faster and with great service.Crystal P.

Uhaul, in general, should update the site for customers to select the correct size truck. A 10ft truck is NOT going to be big enough to move a 1 bedroom apartment. It's too narrow and short. I wasted hours that I have to pay for, because of numerous trips, instead of one! I also reserved a utility dolly but didn't get one. Couldn't get a bigger truck, although one was on the lot and was there when I returned the smaller truck.TERESA S.

I came in Tuesday..to reserve a Truck for Friday and Saturday...I asked the young lady at the counter..could I get the truck for 2:00 Friday until 2::00 Sat...the price will not be an issue...well when I came in Fri.of course their was a different person I was dealing with..and she said you have until 10:00 Fri. night..I said I reserved it for 24 hrs...If I would have been told that I couldn't have it for that time period in the beginning..I would have been in as soon as you opened instead of waiting until 2:00..I don't know what I was charged...I really feel that I was cheated....So my Wife..my Son and myself had to damn near kill ourselves to bet the move completed in the time allotted...I think customer service..communication..and explaining everything un the beginning of renting the equipment is a major KEY..I Pray this is the last house I buy...The rating I would give this Lapalco store in Harvey would be a 3 or 4....DAVID P.

Schedule a one way rtn. at a lower rate. Example: If I rented a truck going one way to HARVEY, LA & a second person need a truck from Harvey, LA to Markham, IL. Have that person to bring the same truck back to Markham at a cheaper rate. This cut out the extra expense on the return & it want end up in Harvey,LA not being used or your supply want be limited in Markham, IL. Try this suggestion U-HAUL might like this idea. The agent that initially assisted me was on her cell phone and it was on speaker. I asked her to please end the call because I didn't want my conversation being listened to or recorded. She then started speaking in another language. I explained to her that she was making me uncomfortable. And, her reply was "I wasn't talking about you." Which then made me more uncomfortable because I didn't ask her what the nature of her conversation was. After she got off the phone and started paying full attention to me she was helpful. After paying, she walked out to the front and was going to back our Cargo Van out and I told her that it was too small, that we wanted a larger unit that could hold a bed. So, she came back and told the other agent that we had changed our minds and her body language suggested that she was a little upset with us. However, the other agent quickly asked us what was wrong. And, I said I called ahead and told them that we had and efficiency and they said that they had a $19.95 truck that could accommodate us. And he said, the %19.95 Cargo van was rated for our needs. And, I said are you sure. And he said yes, he said, lets go take a look at it. I will open it up for you and you will see that it is surprisingly roomy. So, we looked in it and I told him that I believed him now and that I thought he was right. Then I apologized and told him that I should have respected his product knowledge.REGINALD W.

Typing comments about my experience makes me so angry that I delete them and start over! Thank God that the experience is so bad that I decided to climb under my car and check their work. My left exhaust is hanging on one rubber. The right exhaust ground wire is dangling under the car. The spacers seem to be right but I still have to check the torque. I gave U-Haul more than a 2-week lead time. When I arrived at the contracted time and date (July 1), U-Haul said I missed my appointment (June 30). I showed them the appointment in their own emails and they "squeezed" me in (taking several hours). 5 hours later, I retrieved the vehicle only to find they could not install any wiring, We made another appointment for a week later and the evening before, they called me and cancelled. I called to follow up the following week and spent hours on hold on two separate occasions and never did get to talk to the appropriate people. I have missed my vacation and missed out on two camper sales, each of which will cost me an extra $1,500 now. The manager does not understand the difference between gross trailer weight capacity and tongue weight capacity. I tried to explain the difference between sheer strength and tensile strength of the bolts holding the receiver to the car, but he insisted that I could put 4,000 pounds on the tongue !!! I looked it up myself ... 400-lbs. It is now over a month since my initial contact and I still cannot tow anything.THOMAS C.

Everything went well until I returned the Truck. The Store manager came outside to check the mileage and complete the return. I ask him if I was charged for the dolly which I did not ask for, but was in the truck. He immediately chuckled as if it were some kind of joke. He went to the rear and asked me " You mean to say that the dolly disconnected from the spot it was in and now it's at the back of the truck"?? He said; " that in 7 years he had not had anyone say something like this." The hand truck was never connected to anything. He continued to chuckling while behaving unprofessional in his actions and appearance with his wrinkled shirt and pants. I wasn't trying to get out of paying $7.00, for a hand truck that I didn't ask for. A MANAGER behaving in this condescending way, tarnishes the great service that I received during the rental. I have been a business owner for many years. This individual needs additional customer service training. The two stars is for the corporate reservation, and the super nice employee that handled the paperwork at this location. Corporate will also be advised. If it were my business, I would want to know the poor behavior of an individual labeled manager.ISIDRO C.

When I arrived to get the vehicle the agent was an hour late making me late for my event. The truck smelled of gasoline like it spilled and was never cleaned up. No one told me I would be charged for mileage. I went to uhaul bc I rented trucks before where I wasn't charged. I did self checkin and it didn't even ask me to put the mileage in and when I returned it the agent was rude like I was lying or something and proceeded to tell me I had to pay an additional $40 something making the van rental over $80 for less than a day. I am livid still. I reached out to the manager who never returned my call and then charged my card. I do a lot of events and arrange service for a lot of events. I use to always recommend uhaul but not anymore. Very disappointed with my treatment and how you choose to do business.Sible L.

This whole experience was the worst. I picked my pickup location and drove there that morning and they moved my pickup location 30 minutes away so now I have to waste time and gas for my vehicle and uhual. Once I get to the location the sales representative was very rude and the manager had to come and when he came he was rude but not only that while he was trying to take care of my stuff he gets a call from someone and when he hangs up he started cursing like we wasn't standing right there. Need to train your associates better on how to install a hitch properly. After three visits to the same location, one of the mounting bolts for the hitch is long enough for my driver's side muffler to strike it when my Explorer is running. It's VERY annoying, and these associates failed to address this issue. I'll have to go back to another location to get this fixed since I've lost confidence in this location's ability to make it right.Francisco P.

Lost a sale on furniture that I had advertised. Couldn't get into the building using access card. Had to return the truck before being able to use it. Some staff members were great, but the store manager was horrible. I was charged for a storage space I did not have access to and I was accused of putting the wrong lock on my storage even though I bought the lock from their store. When I shared this information with an employee and the manager I was threatened by the manager that my lock would be cut off if I did not come to remove it. The lock was on the storage space they charged me for but I did not have access to it. Needless to say I will not do business with this facility again.
