Truck was clean but the steering is awful on the unit I drove. Lucky not to have an accident. The app for truck dropoff did not work and would not let me sign in, hence causing the $20 fee. The app worked fine at home but by then, the session had already expired and said my truck was dropped off and I was unable to complete the dropoff. The young lady who checked me in was great, very friendly and helpful and speedy. Check in was great, but I am disappointed in the app not letting me sign in causing the extra fee.Stephen D.

I returned it at 7:30 Saturday the 10th just wondering if I get any credit or notGEORGE S.
I rented the truck from Crete and the unit in Kankakee. The first unit didn't have a lock inside and the manager said she puts them in there "when she gets to it." The lock SHOULD have been there already, not when it's convenient for the manager. When I arrived the open sign was on at the office, but they were closed. We had to figure out the keypads on our own. The people that answer when the manager has her calls forwarded can help with nothing when called, all they do is apologize. The managers number is listed as an "emergency contact" on the keypad, but it gets forwarded to the "I'm sorry" crew. Horrible customer service! We walked away from the first unit and had to rerent the truck. The next morning I call the location and that's when I was told the lock is put there when convenient for her. She switched me to a different, larger unit that DIDNT HAVE 24 HOUR ACCESS. I found this out as I'm standing at the door at midnight with the people that helped me move the large furniture that was in the truck and am denied access to my unit, and when I call the emergency number I get the "I'm sorry" representatives. Now I have a truck full of heavy furniture that was supposed to be returned to the Crete location, that they had already booked out for another person the next morning at 10 AM, with no access to my unit and no way of getting my helpers back at 5 AM when they open. I am forced to carry over the truck into the next day, that messes up the next customers reservation, and I'm guessing by how helpful the customer service representative was (sarcasm) the email that she said she sent to the general manager probably didn't explain this whole situation. I am trying to move three children and all of our belongings and had very limited time with the people that were helping me move. "I'm sorry" is not what someone wants to hear when they're standing outside of a storage unit that was supposed to be 24 hour access with a house full of their belongings at midnight. I will be calling the location in the morning, as well as the Crete location to explain again what happened and to sort out what the charges will be due, considering all the extra mileage and day added because of these mistakes on U-Haul's part.Katherine R. | Online Move In

Uhaul of Kankakee was great. My issue was with corporate. I reserved a uhaul online in Kankakee, but I was told two days before that we would have to pick up in Watseka 30 miles away. I called again 24hrs before pickup and got moved back to Kankakee where there were tons of trucks. Terrible service from corporate. Again, Uhaul of Kankakee was awesome.CRAIG L.

We had a big problem. When the Ubox arrived at the facility where we were sending it we got a call that they found our box open and things on the ground. The lock was off, door open... They said we came to pick up something. I asked if they checked licenses for proof of ID and was told they did. Well we did not go and open it = the facility had two boxes and the other customer opened our box by mistake and left the door open and things on the ground. Nothing was taken but I am very disappointed. The customer was not taken to their box but sent to the general area. I was told that there was security so no one could open your box. Somehow the other customer opened our box without anyone stopping them. Then they opened their box got what they needed and left without saying anything. As a worker was closing up they noticed the open door and called us. Yes they watched their security tape but I expected them to make sure if a customer came in that they would be monitored. That they were sent to the correct box. That if other boxes were around they would monitor what was happening. This was not the case. The customer just went in without being monitored. Luckily nothing was missing but it was scary until we emptied our box after delivery and made sure that nothing was missing. I feel that the facility was lax with their security. Being told not to worry it is all being taped was not a reassurance. No one checked to see that the customer went to the correct box and only had access to their box. Up to that point, the service was excellent, Our items arrived in great shape. Overall it was a great experience until a stranger opened our box.GWENDOLYN C.

I will tell you why you should consider Penske. Make sure you get the correct truck size you need from uhaul. I wasn't sure, guessed too small, and had to make 2 trips. Because of this, I would have been better off not even caring about my budget. They ended up charging me because I had to make 2 trips and couldn't fit all of my things in 1. I think this is a ridiculous policy to not consider people might have to make more than one trip. I used Penske last time and would probably recommend them first due to this. Consider Penske or some other rental truck company, just saying.Carrie L.

After setting up the account for the storage, we also set up a one way truck rental from Carbondale to Kankakee and received an email for a free month. Manager Dana was very helpful in making sure we could still receive the month free. At time of move in, Steve was also extremely helpful with the way the facility works and locating our locker as well as the truck return. The vehicle I rented has loud noise. While driving, not able to listen to the person talking while he was sitting next to me. I used it for 3 hours and got Sevier Headache because of that noise. Equipment Maintenance was really Bad and not acceptable.HARACHAND G.

For the online check in, it needs to state gas needs to be returned with same amount and with what type of gas. I was not aware and was scared of putting gas in the truck not knowing what type to put in. But overall everything else was great!Alyson H.
