Disgusting place to do business with, first if all the girl at the counter didn’t have any idea at all regarding my rental, second, the trailer box handed to me with a flat a tire with a big screw and no air at all so imagine how terrible was my experience and trying to use it, third, they didn’t have the wire for the trailer , my van has a light towing wire and a hitch , I myself own a trailer box therefore my van is well equipped regarding this issue!! I rent it for two days which I was supposed to return it at 1:00pm on Monday 7-15-2020, and the girl at the counter told me that I must return it way before 8:00 on Monday 7-15-2020 ??? I returned it Sunday night on 7-142020,Which they charged me for two full rental days! EXTREMELY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH U HAUL!! NOT TO MENTION THE SO CALLED GENERAL MANAGER WHICH GOES BY THE NAME OF MUHAMMAD IS EXTREMELY RUDE AND HAS NO BUSINESS MANNERS!!

I have questions on gas used. I sent an email to the address listed in receipt email. The numbers do not add up with the gas I put in and the amount I was charged. The experience was great but the gas charge makes no sense.

I had a horrible move out experience with uhaul jersey city, I e-mailed customer service and she forwarded my e-mail to the branch manager and he never replied. That was two weeks prior to me moving out. I went to the uhaul on my move out date and they charged me a whole month of storage even though I only used it for 5 days, hence if another customer uses my old storage room uhaul will be getting double pay for one storage room. I think this policy is bogus, and someone should look into a change. Everything I had in my storage was full of rat/mouse poop and a lot of my things were not even salvageable. The customer service is horrible, there’s no good excuse for any of their policies, it’s just a bottom line, with no room for negotiation. This place is a total rip-off and the rates are outrageous. If you can find a cheaper location, with quality customer service I would think twice before settling for uhaul. Sorry but you guys have to do a better job appeasing your customers, and maintaining your facilities.

Messed up my reservation by forgetting that I rented truck and trailer. Had to go through all rental formalities twice - once when making the reservation in person and again during pick up. Didn’t have any furniture trolleys for rent. Waited 40 min for the truck to be pulled up.

I was told that the truck wall full. I looked at the gauge which was in a gray area near F so, being unfamiliar, I assumed that was as far as it went because I was told the truck was full. When I went to fill, the gauge went all the way to the F which cost me. Other than that, the experience was much better than expected.

This location was great. The problem was this was the second location! The first didn’t have the van and I wasn’t notified. Wasted my time!! I was on hold with the 1800# for over 45min. Had to call back later. Funny I wasn’t asked to review the location that didn’t have my reservation.

Unbelievable location. Very difficult to find and to park. Also I thought it was unlimited miles. I had to pick up the truck nearly 100 miles from my storage location in Aberdeen, MD because there were no trucks there.You charged an additional $26.84 for "extra" miles. Not fair as I had to go to Newark, DE. That should have been explained. It was a surprise charge and I'm not pleased. Marc Palumbo

Pathetic customer service! I did not receive the receipt even after 24 hours of drop off and the lady over the phone was so uninviting and just wanted to delay the call by placing on hold and unwilling to listen. I had to go in the main UNITED STATES customer service representative to pull in the details 4 times in the day just to get a finalized receipt about this rental! The receipt had the detail of an extra day charge, however, thankfully, my card has so far not been charged for this amount yet.

Was overcharged for insurance and also charged for items I did not rent. Uhaul has not been responsive to my billing dispute. Also the recommendation by Uhaul that a 15’ truck would be sufficient to move a 1-2 bedroom apartment is laughable to say the least. For a one bedroom apartment, the move required two trips and the truck was completely full both times.

Mobile check-in wasn't working so I had to wait in-line. It took about 40 minutes to make it to the desk. The third register was never opened, it would be helpful to have more folks working on the last weekend of the month.

The checkin process was confusing as I was initially told I would have to wait until the location would open at 7 am to pick up, even though my pick up time was scheduled for 10 pm. A staff appeared only after waiting for quite a while, and he was very busy taking to multiple customers. I never got a call the day before pickup confirming any details.

While the staff was helpful, they were absolutely overwhelmed with the truck returns of multiple customers. I dropped off my truck at a specified location in the site, and was told I was all set by the employee who directed me. He was very busy so I tracked down another employee in the lot who also agreed that I was good to go. Still, unsatisfied with the lack of receipt or written confirmation of my drop off, I went inside the store and spoke with another employee at the desk who also said I was done with my drop off. I left at this point and waited for a confirmation email of my drop off, of which I received none. I spoke with customer service a few hours later to verify my drop off and the best they could do was notify the location's manager of the time I dropped it off so they would not charge me a fee for late drop off the next morning. I received no update hours after my drop off deadline and called customer service again, only to be told they would notify the manager again. Shortly after I finally received an email confirming my drop off with the additional late fee attached. ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE! I tried to reach the store only to be put on hold and never being able to speak to anyone. I replied to the return confirmation email, which had an email address included, and still no response. I will not pay this additional fee. I will not use u-haul again. Being charged for something that didn't occur is theft and the manner the company handles it's business is laughable. DO BETTER!

They gave me a massive truck last minute. There was nowhere to put it on my block and I had to loop my neighborhood 25 times just to load. Cost me extra money for the movers. Then I got on the highway and it was a total gas guzzler. I had to put 100 bucks in the tank every hundred miles. It would have been cheaper to pay for a fancy move than move with UHaul!

This site ‘looked’ like a haul facility with products displayed nicely and a clean organized atmosphere. Unlike first place in Charlottesville. Gen manager was very competent though extremely busy. Only prob was that they rarely answered the phone. Need to have phone call go to the site and have someone able to pick up to answer questions. When people are too busy phone calls go to regional and they can’t answer direct questions. Maybe have the local site’s email address available for questions. Then when they have time they would answer the question. When they did answer phone I was able to get question answered( regional gave me site managers direct line. Too bad was an old number as he later told me he would have replied ) I had simple question re coming a day early and did they have room for me in the storage area nut no one picked up til day we were on our way. Phone calls kept being routed to regional. Solution: Need someone else in staff at busy times of month to help out. One guy, though good, was not enough.

There a lot of hidden fees. Even after confirming with the customer service representative that what I paid before hand was the final price. After refilling the gas , and returning it in the same condition it was given to me. There was an extra 20$ in tax , 10 in service fee. I paid almost 100 for less than 3 hours

This location was fine and friendly. But the entire reservation and changing of locations was not very professional. Uhaul's 800 number is way to long to wait to resolve any problems. I was very disappointed to have original reservation changed and the truck size changed. If you don't have the request available, tell the customer before accepting a reservation and a credit card to hold it, Very deceiving to fine out everything is changed the day before you are supposed to pick up the truck. We are probably done with UHAUL and have told many people the crap you put us through.

Keep up the good work! Reserved a hitch trailer but changed my mind last second to get a truck without any problems. The desk person was very receptive as well as the other personnel. The return was also expeditious. This U-Haul site is well kept and well managed. Very highly recommended.

24/7 truck keys not in the lock box indicated. I had to call customer service for help in getting right keys. Truck was blocked by other van. Both the gas gauge and odometer were off which potentially could have cost double. The customer after me also said the same thing. Seems many of the trucks do not have the correct numbers. Additionally I requested rental at another location. This location added a few miles to my rental which added cost.

I was originally scheduled for East Orange. Arrived and was told no hitch no mechanics. They had the reservation for 4 weeks no call no contact. After much deliberation they set me up with Jersey City. They were great on time , curtious excellent installation.

On Saturday night - Shawn/Sean was AMAZING he took the truck inspected it together and sent me to my new home with a smile! He was extremely nice and took interest in my move and how everything went. However, on Sunday morning I was left a nasty and board line threatening disrespectful voicemail about me dropping the truck off at the wrong location. I called back and was forwarded to the corporate office. Corporate employee Toysha filed a claim baring the claim number as 2250237

I had the very worst experience dealing with the owner who’s very rude, harsh and dishonest. On 05/13/19 I rented a truck and trailer. He charged me double. He would not take proof by email,so now I have to take a day off drive back to NJ (gas and toll ) he claimed he would reimburse but didn’t., but uhaul reimbursed me but not Mr . Rude .....Never this location again.

I would recommend it but I think there should have been more staff on hand given that it was the first Saturday of the month and that's certainly a big moving day for many people. The line to pick up my reservation was long and slow moving. Night drop off is awesome.

Absolutely HORRIBLE!!! When making a reservation online, I decided to do the mobile check in to make life a bit easier as I was moving that day. I showed up, did what they asked me to do on my phone to check in, and sent me to multiple different people and different places on the lot. Not one person knew what to do with me, even when I had the number of the car I was supposed to be taking. After 20 minutes of confusion, we finally got the U-Haul and left. Moving took longer then expected so we ended up returning the truck the next afternoon. Fast forward to 2 days later and they are STILL CHARGING ME FOR THE TRUCK!! And they have the audacity to say that I caused damage to the car because there was a large scratch on the passenger side that was there upon orignially getting the car (and I have video proof of this). When I reached out to customer support to help fix the check in of the car to show that I dropped it off Saturday and not Tuesday, they said it would be noted and not an issue. Apparently that was a lie because the bill I got today still is charging me for damage and the "extra time" that we didn't even have the truck. I will NEVER USE UHAUL AGAIN!!!!!!

I would never use this location again. First, I was charged on my card 4 times, Im still waiting 4 days later for some of the charges to drop second I was charged for gas and I filled up, up the hill right before I returned it and I know it was above where I got it but since I was rushed out - the man said just give me the keys you will get a receipt via email and he walked away - didnt check anything just disappeared with the keys so i left. I didnt see the charge until I was home and at that point how can I prove it. Overall it was a horrible experience I'd rather go to the one on communipaw.

I had a very poor experience from start to finish. I spent several hours on the phone trying to book my uhaul, including a 45 min call and dozens of failed 6 min calls to U-Haul Chelsea during the day to answer a simple question. I finally booked a reasonable option out of jersey city due to limited availability in the Chelsea location 10 days. This location was then switched to saddle brook NJ (out of the 30 mile range). I finally resolved this after several long calls but it was a huge pain. The day we picked up the uhaul there was a line out of the door (10am on a Friday) that lasted ~2 hours. Additionally, my driver side floor mat was covering a colony of ants throughout the uhaul, and the experience concluded with rude representatives at the Chelsea location during the drop off process. Please let me know what you can to do reconcile these issues.

Not make customers wait 30 minutes outside for their vehicle. After waiting in line to get my rental slip for 30 minutes, I watched 3 customers who were checked in after me get into their rentals and drive off before me. I waited so long that i was unable to do the normal website checkin because the link that was texted to me when i checked out had expired. They forgot my furniture dolly rental and i was too distracted by how late i was running to notice until i got to my apartment (which made my move significantly more painful). Also, I selected a different pickup location when i was going thru the online booking process but this pickup location was then listed in my confirmation email. I had to uber from the place i thought i booked to this place. I am never booking a uhaul online again.

There are not enough parking spaces for customers who come to pick up vehicles. Due to additional verification steps required by U-Haul, namely the phone number verification, the online check-in is pointless, as I still have to wait at the counter and speak with someone to pick up my rental. These two factors resulted in 30 min of wait time before I was actually able to drive the rental to my destination.

It was torrentially down-pouring when we arrived at 6:15pm on Thursday to drop off the trailer. I called in advance as per the drop off instructions on the receipt and waited on hold for 20 minutes before being told I just needed to show up, there was no need to call. Bob who answered was extremely polite, and was the best part of our U-Haul experience. I was expecting to have a long line to checkout and when I walked in there were about 12 people online in the store, so I left my dad with the car and trailer outside. After a few minutes I received a phone call from my Dad who said the man outside said we did not need to wait, the trailer was returned and we would be emailed a receipt. After getting home at 11pm, my account still reflected that the trailer was in my possession. I emailed and messaged your customer service department and did not get a response by 8am so I called the location again to ask when I would receive a receipt and my account reflect that I had returned the trailer. The woman who answered told me the email must have gone to my spam, and I explained again that my account had not been updated. She put me on hold, I checked my account in the meantime that now showed I no longer had an active reservation, and she came back on the phone to tell me she sent another copy of my receipt (and not acknowledge there was an issue from the beginning).

I return the rental back at 4:40PM didn’t get my receipt until the following day with a bill for a damage vehicle that I did not damage, when I drop off the vehicle the employee told me I would get my receipt in my email. Did not say anything about damage. I wanted to confirm my mileage and we did so. This place trying to charge me $201 for damage I didn’t do, will like my refund immediately and the employee need to be fired

The people at this location were friendly and helpful, but overall I’m extremely dissatisfied with my uHaul experience. I reserved a 26’ truck 1-2 weeks in advance. The night before our move, uHaul calls and tells me my 26’ truck is not available. The best they have is a 20’ truck at a location 3x the distance away. I show up the next morning and check in online, expecting to get my truck and equipment quickly and head out. The app tells me I need to go inside and talk to an associate. I waited in line for 30+ minutes (I had movers coming and many other things planned for move day and this introduced delays). When it was finally my turn, the associate tells me no 20’ trucks are available and told me she was getting me a 17’. I gave her the cold stare of death and told her that was completely unacceptable and what I really needed was the 26’ I reserved 1-2 weeks previous. She overall was pretty helpful and managed to get me a 20’ truck that was about to run out of gas, then I waited while they loaded the supplies I ordered. I then proceeded to the gas station, further delaying the start of my move. However, the truck was far too small. We had to Tetris everything in there and had to throw away $500 worth in furniture (a dresser, bookshelf, and small wardrobe) because there was no way they’d fit in the truck and we were already two hours behind schedule due to having to cram everything into the too-small truck. This has firmly convinced me to never use uHaul again failing to fulfill a customer commitment multiple times. Thank you for making a stressful move all the more painful.

Staff is very rude and doesn’t care about customer service. Had to stay in line for ten minutes even though none was ahead of me just because Uhal rep decide to be on his cell .... fuel wasn’t at the level indicated in the paperwork... it took another to give out the keys... overall poor customer service...please show some respect and care for your customers before they look for other services
