Drop off procedure unclear, no one at drop off point upon arrival. Went inside and waited in line 10 mins. only to be told at desk that I needed to go back outside and wait for employee to go over vehicle. Not impressed. Pick up process could also go a little faster, considering I had already done much of the check-in online.Edgar G.
the pickup location had to be changed. the original location in Dartmouth, NS was an unmanned location. the app check in did not work. I was on the phone with a rep from Uhaul for an hour! and we couldn't fix it so she relocated my pickup to another location. it was a nightmare! it took me 2 hours to finally have my truck and it was not the size that I originally reserved and there was no possibility to change it back. I reserved the truck 3 weeks in advance. there was no reason to not try to satisfy me as your paying customer. the experience was terrible on many levels and I left the pick up location angry. it sucked!!stephanie S.

2 items come to mind. #1) Place some signs that clearly indicate where ustomers can park and leave their cars when using a rental. #2) I literally was standing at the side of the counter for a solid 10mins while 2 employees totally ignored my presence and both saw me standing as instructed to do so by your self check in app. Which was supposed to speed up the process. I was very polite and stood there while they both saw me and totally ignored me as 1 employee could not stop counting his till. I worked as a cashier when ibwas 16yrs old and we were always told to acknowledge the customer at the very least and say I can help you in just a few mins or stop whatever I was doing and see if perhaps the customer just needs a quick answer which in fact I only needed to be passed the truck key!!! Without question your customer service needs to be worked on big time!!!! Also your self check-in takes far too long to process.....you need tonwork on a much faster check-in via your app so customers don't need to waste 30mins trying to get the rental and be on the road. I have used customer service and self check in and using a person is actually a little faster so please work on these mentioned items. Thanks!!Alfred W.

I waited forty minutes in line for my vehicle, with only one member of staff on the desks serving customers. There was no point checking in online as this did not speed up my service. I feel bad for the staff, because the problems they were having with customers were created by less scrupulous dealers in the area. When I was dealt with they were relatively quick and professional, the vehicle was in good shape, etc. However the wait was completely unreasonable and there were about eight or nine very angry customers waiting. I've said I'd recommend this location to a friend, because if UHaul can discipline their worst dealers, and encourage this one to have more staff, the location has good equipment, is easy to get to, and the manager, when she turned up, knew what she was doing. The other staff member needed more training.David T.

When customers are forced to travel extra miles outside of their geographical area in order to just pick up their rental you should consider allowing a one way rental as compensation for the inconvenience. Travelling an extra 200-250 kilometres just to get the equipment is a little unreasonable. 4 Uhaul dealers within 20 kilometres of my home and not one with the right equipment. Also consider texting with a live agent to demonstrate that you have correctly hooked up your trailer (including photo) to allow after hours pickups. I have rented many times over the last8-10 years and this was by far the worst experience.IAN B.

They did not put the correct gas level in the contract as I took a picture of the gas level before leaving the UHaul office with the rental, then when i gave back the truck with the same level i got it they charged me as if i did not put the gas back. Do something about the gas filling. Make it FULL ... I picked up a truck with an 1/8 ish of a rank of fuel with the dash message that said I had 30 miles to empty. Dropped it off with an 1/8 ish of a tank with the guage saying it had 28 Mike's to empty and was charges for fuel. Have the damn things full, there's gas stations close to every location.James L.

The gas was very expensive for long hauls. I feel at the rates given which usually include extra time and mileage, would be better served to have the truck filled on uhaul on the onset. So truck can be returned without a final blow of $300. So no fill up on return. It would have made the major expense more of a gift other than mileage or time which doesn't mean much if it's not used.Ron S.
Complete disaster from the start. Booked a week in advance. Called the night before pick up to ensure all was good and assured rental for 9:00 A.M.. showed up to windmill rd location only to be told they did not have . They rerouted me to Bayers lake location where they had one .only two employees working and a line up of appx: 20 people ,at same time had 6 other people waiting for me to return with my rental. I was two hours late. Had to bring rental back to Bayers Lake location or they would have charged me an extra drop off fee. As I live in Dartmouth and Bayers Lake is completely out of the way , they should have at least allowed me to drop off rental at Windmill Rd. location with no additional charges. But NO. Employees at the Windmill Rd. location appeared to have no apologies for screwing up with over booking. No issues at all for them for me to be 2 hours late. I'm still pissed.steve S.

The remote check in is not convenient. The location tracking doesn't work (yes, I had it turned on on my phone) and the QR code locator is impossible to find without going in and speaking to the employee. And then the suggestion of â€œskipping the lineâ€ to get your keys doesn't make any sense when there is only one employee with a 4 person line up. The â€œfast trackâ€ process took over 30 minutes. The location and employees and vehicles were excellent, but this 24/7 service is executed extremely poorly.Louis T.

Truck had transmission problems, wouldn't down shift on highway so stuck at 75km/h on some hills. When I got to town it wouldn't come out of gear and would be stuck trying to accelerate and the engine would rev with the truck lurching at intersections. I reserved a truck a month in advance but because i needed it over the weekend and Sunday was the start of a new month they would not guarantee it. After trying to guarantee this multiple times leading up to the date requires, I went to the store in person the day before the required date of rental. The Store was short staffed and when I did get to the counter the person was very rude and unable to help. I finally talked with the manager and was able to guarantee the rental that i had reserved. When I went to pick up this truck the next day, I used the truck share app and it asked me to scan the location bar code where I was. I went in to the store to ask where I could find this code but while in line 2 other customers ahead asked for this same information only to be told by the 3 available staff that they did not know and that none of them had ever heard of this as a question. We all got in touch with a person via chat through the app and made it through the sign out of the vehicle, myself it took over 90 minutes. On return the app again asked me to scan my store location bar code, I started in to the store but this time I noticed the key drop box out side and on a sign was I structures and low and behold the store scan bar that none of the uhaul staff knew existed. Over all this process drug on far longer than it should have and if I hadn't managed to guarantee the rental in person the day before it was requested it would have been to late to book through another agency. If you need a rental and use Uhaul my advise is avoid this location and reserve a back up vehicle elsewhere.Patrick L.

Incredibly slow and incompetent staff, chatting with each other about their weekends instead of working while completely ignoring the long waiting line of stressed people in the store, more than one hour waiting time to pick up/ drop off vehicles. The waiting time of course is subtracted from the time you reserved your vehicle for. Moving isn't easy and it was certainly not made easier by the staff. Truck was clean but because of the abyssmal customer service I would never ever recommend this company to anyone and from now on will rent my vehicles elsewhere. 1/10Marie E.
I booked a 5x8 trailer for one way drive Booked at Dartmouth location. They called and said that I would need to pick up at Halifax location. That was fine. When I arrived at the booked time they didn't have the 5x8 available. I could not wait because I was leaving the following morning. They offered a 6x12. This worked out, however, was oversized for my vehicle. I was able to tow but the car struggled at times. I booked weeks in advance and reconfirmed by calling. I am disappointed the trailer I booked was not available even though there was another 5x8 in the parking lot.David C.

We rented the unit for 1 year There were numerous price increases about $150 difference . The after hours was pretty confusing so we had to move to an outside unit to have 247 hr access Our units door wouldn't stay open we reported it and went to meet with the maintenance person but they didn't show and apparently a work order wasn't submitted even thou we complained. upon moving we noticed a huge leak destroying some boxes luckily it was nothing valuable. And caused minimal damage however could have definitely been a major issue. We didn't have anything that contained food however upon moving we noticed chew boxes, materials, and rodent poop. We understand these things can happen, so we didn't say much. The manager is pretty friendly but unfortunately I can't say that for the rest of the staff, every time I had to speak with anyone it seemed to be an inconvenience for them. We had auto renew set up but twice there was a red lock put on our unit for no reason both times the rep saw my account was $0 and explained that sometimes there a delay with auto renew even thou the money has come out our account cause we were using a visa debit. I wish before the locked us out of our unit we paid for they verified first especially sense the reps were aware of the issue. Overall I was very happy with my rental of both storage lockers. My only complaint was that I will billed for the entire month (December) when I moved out on the first day of the new billing period. I had tried to get out the day earlier but the moving company could not have the job completed before the access to my unit was closed at 1900. As stated by the CSR " at 1900 we close and turn on the alarms" This cost me an extra day and thus an additional 243.00 dollars spent on a unit i was not going to use again. I am a bit disappointed with the misinformation I received regarding your promotions. I called on October 8th to inquire about promotions and rates as I saw one on line for one month free storage with truck rental. I called the Halifax location to ask specifically about this promotion. I was told it was available for both one way and in town rentals. I asked if I could book it on line or had to be in store, I was told I could do either. I proceeded to book both my truck rental and storage online. The promotion was not valid. I had issues picking up my truck on my mobile device as it did not show up on my account reservations, only my storage. I went to Customer Service to check in for my truck. Received everything, no problems. Disappointed that there was no access code available and I was limited to the holiday hours to move and store my items. I asked about the promotion and if the agent could apply it for me. He advised that it had just expired. I asked why I would be told of an expired promotion? He said I could provide feedback. This promotion was the reason I decided to choose uhaul for my truck rental and storage solutions. Finally when I arrived to return my truck, I could not do it via mobile self service as the rental still did not appear on my account reservations. I called the after hours support and was on hold for 40minutes before I was disconnected. I called back and requested a call back which never happened. I called the Halifax location at 7am as soon as it opened to explain my issues with mobile return of my truck. I said I could drive to the location to complete the return in person before my truck was due to be returned should that be required. I was advised it was not necessary. Needless to say, a process that seemed all too effortless on line did not go as smoothly as planned. I chose uhaul for the promotion of one month's free storage if this wasn't the case, I would have chosen other options as there were promotions elsewhere I could have taken advantage of. Storage facility reeked of fish and they did absolutely nothing about it. Called several times to get the situation fixed and was always promised a call back from a manager but that never happened. The sliding door to the facility was broken for the whole time we rented there (6 months) brought that up to employees it was never fixed always had to pry it open, it was supposed to be an automatic door. The sanitizer despenser inside the door was never filled even throughout a lockdown. To say the least renting a locker from U haul was a terrible experience and I am glad to have moved my stuff out of there! Recieved a phone call one day stating I had to go through my locker as there was a foul smell in the building. The day I went in I was hit with the smell of rotten fish. Went through my locker, smell was not coming from there so I reported back to them. A few months later, I asked if it had been taken care of and not a single person knew what I was talking about. My stuff still smells like rotten fish. I had requested for a 5x5 locker. Most of my stuff that should have fit did not fit and I ended up having to store it elsewhere. We measured the unit and found out it was actually 4x4. When it was brought up to management, they said I would just have to deal with it. If I was not in a bad situation at the time of move in, I would have never used this facility. The staff was always far from helpful and rude whenever I went into the office. I was also only able to access my stuff until 7 pm which is a huge inconvenience since I work every day till 7pm. They couple days I took to move my items out of storage, the doors were closed off and I had to use a different area to go into the building. The staff was incredibly rude when I asked them how I was supposed to enter the building. They asked me why I needed to go in…. On top of all that, there was never any place to park and very hard to load/unload vehicles due to the parking situation. My experience was horrible with U-Haul from the beginning to the very end. There were a few bright lights in a mostly miserable experience from the pick up of my trailer to dropping my things off in storage. I really don't know how you Allstate in business with the poor customer service you provide, your internet portals are a joke, no one ever answers the phone and your customer service in person people are burnt out from all the unhappy customers. My reservation wasn't there when I arrived but when you are the most tired in your life there is no fight. The last person I felt with was accommodating sympathetic and kind. I rented storage. In order to access the storage you have to go into the office and have one of the agents press a button. If there are people in line (to rent vehicles, book storage, pay for items, etc, you have to wait behind them. Could be over a half hour just to have them press a button to get into the storage bay. Hours are not friendly to people with 9-5 jobs and lives in the city. Most of time it takes more than two hours to load or unload trucks but location only opens till 7. Considering transit times to the facility, it is not quite convenient for access. Two out of three truck bay doors didn't open during our stay of 1 month, during which we visited 3 times. The one door who did open was not tall enough for our truck provided by hired moving company. However, i do believe uhaul trucks can fit through. Facility is clean and well lit. I was at the end of my rope when I called U-Haul ,I got on the phone to rent a truck and told them because of circumstances' beyond my control I needed to rent one of their storage facilities also . I think the women could hear distress in my voice because no sooner did I say that she said that for a one way meaning from my place to the storage in Bayers Lake facility I would be given a month free of storage ! I could feel my stress level decreasing as ever moment passed by ! Not only did I have no place to live but the money was very tight also ,because of the Epidemic I had no job either ! The three guys I had helping me didnt pack the storage properly, so I had no other choice but to get another unit , The manager took 20% off of that one plus loaned me her lock so I wouldn't have to buy one ! Although the staff was helpful and friendly, our experience was not great. We had completed the online storage application on the U-Haul website and had requested an 8x10 storage locker at the 350 Horseshoe Lake location. Upon getting there the staff member was unable to open our online reservation and then proceeded to tell us that they do not have any 8x10 storage units. I should him the reservation confirmation I received from U-Haul that showed I had booked an 8x10 at that location and the staff member shrugged it off and said they didn't have any. This was extremely disappointing because I had completed the online reservation to make our move in easy but it turned out to be a very difficult and stressful move in. Went i got there, the person the ended up serving me was on the phone, yelling at a customer because she couldnt hear her. Then when i said i was checking in, she got fustrated and was conplaining that the new storage units wernt in the system and she had to check me in manually. My couch got ruined by something leaking from the roof of your building. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the renovations that are being done to the building. I was told someone would be contacting me about getting it cleaned. After no call back I've tried contacting you several times. After being on hold for awhile my calls get transferred to a call center in the U.S. somewhere, where nobody can do anything but send you a message on my behalf. I'm still awaiting a reply of some sort. Nobody has gotten back to me and it has now been 3 weeks. I was assured that someone would take care of it. Turns out that was a lie. I would never use your storage facility again. You advertise clean, dry units. The black stains all over my now ruined couch say otherwise. The only real issue I had with the facility were the limited hours of access. I realize it's a relatively new facility and perhaps a proper security system isn't yet in place, but large signs are posted on the premises advertising 24/7 access and I was very disappointed to discover that in fact the access hours for storage units were identical to the office hours, far too limited for my needs. I hope that issue is rectified soon, because there are other facilities nearby that have no restrictions on hours of access, and, for me at least, that's a strong argument for going with them.Alan S. | Overall Experience

Jen, the manager is fantastic, as were your other staff I dealt with, although their hands are tied because they can't say anything when people get upset about you ripping them off. They have to bear the brunt of it in silence. You put them in a very awkward position because of your greed. You have fantastic customer service, you just cheat on measurements. If you want good ratings, change the cheating The shame of it is you put them in an embarrassing position. Change your paperwork to reflect the ACTUAL USABLE FEET. 9x9 My feelings are you cheat people about the measurements - I supposedly have and pay for a 10x10 space, when in actual fact that is NOT ACCURATE. My actual USABLE space is 9x 9ish. You cannot store anything in the ripple of the corrugated metal, nor can you store anything from where the slide door comes down to the middle edge of the step. I was told the measurement is from the inside ripple to the outside of the step. Try being honest and charge people for ACTUAL STORAGE SPACE!!! If asked, I would definitely tell people how you cheat people. I moved over from Metro self storage, based on Jen's help and great customer service - she sold me.
