I arrived to pick up a can at the same time someone evidently did as well. I was within 10 feet of the van specifoed and the person got in and drove off. Then I was told to look around a giant, huge parking lot for that very same van number in the scorching summer heat. I had to go inside to get a new van number, thus negating the ability to utilize the remote pickup feature. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't a big deal, but it was inconvenient.Ann S.
The team there were awesome. From checking me in and resolving an issue with getting the lights working on my truck. He had to get under the truck with me to figure out what was going on. He went and got a tester to help troubleshoot. Then when I was returning the team got me squared away quickly. A totally professional and excellent customer service experience. I was told my truck was ready at my appointed time. I arrived and did the mobile pickup. Found my vehicle got in and was ready to go. Looking around it looked dirty. Someone came out and said that wasn't my vehicle because it wasn't clean yet. Even tho the mobile check in gave me that number. He went inside and came back out and said ok yes that is your truck but you have to come inside to redue the process. A while later I was finally able to drive off. Come to find out the back door was left open. My nephew that was following me got off and closed it. Once we arrived at the house I was moving from I open the back and found it horribly dirty and some kind of grease or oil all over the floor. And the dolly loose back there. This is by far the worst experience I have had with a moving company - ever, including a permanent change of station move with the military back from over seas. My container arrived at the initial address a day late due to a lack of drivers and an over congested calendar. The driver was friendly. The fault isn't hers. For initial delivery at loading site I had to call repeatedly to ensure delivery and never had a wait time less than 15 minutes. On one occasion I was waiting for an hour plus before being disconnected. Arrival at the final destination was a day late. Beyond that when I called to give final delivery address I was told it was inputted and things were set. I called day before delivery was supposedly set for and they did not have the address. This incompetence resulted in the containers being a day late. I scheduled pickup with them for the following Monday, 4 days later. That Monday I receive a call asking if it'll be read for pick up on Tuesday. I voiced concern that it was supposed to be picked up that day and that they needed to get it Tuesday. Tuesday I received a call stating the driver was sick and that they would get it Wednesday. Wednesday I get a call from my land lord asking why the containers were still there and that they were getting complaints. I spent over two hours on hold with uhaul waiting for an operator, being disconnected twice. By the time the call was â€œansweredâ€ I got an automated message that the office was closed. The next day (Thursday) I spoke with someone after another 20 minutes on hold who lodged a complaint on my behalf. Finally late Thursday afternoon the containers were picked up. I have been charged full price despite significant delays by uhaul on the front and back end. This is an absolutely horrible company with the worst possible customer service. Do NOT use them. The headache is not worth what ever savings you may get by not using packrat or pods.Richard R.

This is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I had a schedule pick up for 2 o'clock for a moving truck. I also wanted to establish a lease for a storage unit. What should have been a simple transaction was delayed by unprofessional and at times, in competent staff. When I first arrived, there were two patrons in front of me. When it was my turn, the 3 associates were talking and joking among themselves loudly. I had to redirect the gentleman who was cashing me out several times. They continued to be okay around and continue to use vulgar language. When the associate finally completed my order, I was shown to my unit. The associate instructed me to use the key card to access my unit. When I swiped my card, the associates name appeared on the screen. I informed the associate and he said he would fix it. We go back to the front desk and associate says he is working on it. He hands me the key card and we try again; access still denied and the associates name was still showing. At this point it is after 3 o'clock. My son was growing anxious so I left to get him something to eat. When I came back associates states issue was resolved. When I attempted to access key pad, a name "Sherise" appeared. I informed the associate that was not my name. At this point I was really upset and needed to leave to start moving. This whole experience delayed my move and was an extreme inconvenience! Lastly I never received a contract for my storage unit. I also was never informed of the hours and made a blank trip because I was denied access to my unit. Overall, one of the worst experiences ever!!!SELECE D. | First Impressions

Just a couple of concerns it's really difficult to lock your storage unit at a certain time at night That is knowing how to set the alarm correctly, unfortunately when we came back to unload our storage unit after 10 PM at night and we were locked out . The whole process is very confusing. And also another concern this doesn't have anything to do with the storage but the lady that I spoke with on customer service just told us we needed one storage unit and that would've not been enough room for us but thankfully the staff had an extra one on hand that we could rent. I probably won't do business with U-Haul overall because our moving experience was very stressful and the customer service was not too good there was a couple of representatives that were very unkind that I spoke to on the phone I'm definitely going to do business with another moving company. When I called to reserve the vehicle, the person who set up the rental agreement estimated the total cost at $138. That wasn't even close to the final cost. Suggestion: do a better job of working with the customer on the estimate. Right now I just feel like I was gouged by your people.GREGORY W.

what stands out is the service I received. Upon returning the truck just after closing. An employee named Ernesto was waiting for his ride. He took the time to help navigate the website for the return. I am 69 yrs old and not to tech savy. He stayed with me for a good 20 minutes and guided me through everything. Even when his ride showed he made sure all was right and that I was comfortable. This kind of service comes few and far above what most people do. I have use haul several times before but this time my experience was awful. After I was assigned a truck a man came in complaining about the condition of the truck that was assigned to him and didn't want it. They literally took the key out of my hand and give it to the guy how was complaining about the condition of his truck. The truck that the switch me to was damage. I and then went back inside and spike with Jwan about the truck condition and he said it was already noted but I still took pictures of all the damages anyway, the truck was in need of repairs bad, the driver side door would not close all the way amongst other things. I took the truck away because I needed to move some items to storage and it was only for one day. Big problem- I turned in my truck the next day on time and received my email receipt for 30 miles. The very next day I received another email receipt for a different truck number with 2 day rental and 35 miles for a total of $85 extra that was charged to my card I called customer service and they said, the clerk never done the paperwork to switch out the trucks and that why I ended up paying for 2 rental and l have to file an dispute for me to get a refund which will take up to 30 days. In other words because of the clerk mistake I ened up paying for my rental and another customer rental because of the clerk not doing the correct paperwork. I paid $54 for my rental and $85 for a stranger rental who rented his truck for 2 days. This is unacceptable and unfair that I have to file an dispute and wait for 30 days for my money back but they took my money for an complete stranger immediately. I have used u haul before and even have a storage unit there. This is the very first time that I've been treated so terrible. Will I ever use u haul again, yes I will but I will not let them switch out any trucks especially when the keys are in my hand. Still waiting for my resolution.KIMYATA G.

I made a reservation online for a truck and a store unit. I had no issues picking up the truck but once I came back to store my furniture, I was told the reservation did not exist and priority was giving to online reservations so I could even get a storage at the time. The poor rating is for the Park Forest branch where I originally had my reservation. I reserved a trailer a month ahead of time. When I arrived to pick it up, I was told they didn't have any and was offered no assistance for the extreme inconvenience other than call 1-800-uhaul. I then spent an hour on the phone frantically searching for another trailer and finally obtained one at the Glenwood location. The staff at Glenwood was helpful and I would rate them much higher than Park Forest. Shame on Uhaul though for such a poor system. When setting a guaranteed by date - honor that date, please. I had an issue where the local U-haul did not pick my boxes on time (their truck was broken down) and instead of honoring the guaranteed by date, they changed the date by several days. I assume this was to avoid paying back the $50.00/day late that the shipment would be. It took several long calls before I was able to get my boxes shipped across the country "on time." They still arrived three days later than they were originally guaranteed. I had to change my moving help last minute while I was already on the road moving across the country, which was incredibly stressful for something that could have been avoided. I also had received a call after the boxes were unloaded and returned and to confirm I was done with the boxes. I confirmed I no longer needed them and they were empty and returned to the U-Haul facility. The customer service representative told me they would close my account. However, I got charged another month of rental fees, and my attempt to get that charge returned (as I had already confirmed I was no longer using them) was ignored.Sara H.
The trailer I reserved was not available at the planned time because the previous person had not returned the unit. I had to go with an open trailer as a result. The counter attendant was very helpful during this issue so thanks to him we worked through it, but the system failed me. What you reserve should be available when its planned to be ready. Not sure I would rent again with Uhaul if this is how you manage your assets. Again, my thanks to the gentleman behind the counter for helping me, but Uhaul failed me.Glenn H.

The young lady the dropped my uboxes off did a wonderful job with drop off and pick up. The locked on one of my uboxes appeared to be tampered with. The store manager Joe Albert was horrible, disrespectful and doesn't know how to speak with customers and provide great customer service. This community represent black and brown people and this guy is white and talk down to the people in the community but sings a different song when someone white walks in the store. I ask to speak with a regional manager in order that I may complain about his behavior and he stated that he is the owner and there is no one else. This guy is deceptive and very dishonest and misrepresenting UHUAL with disgrace. This guy needs training, coaching abs sensitivity training when dealing with other races than his own. The reason I answered question #1 no is because this facility has a significant security issue that can be corrected quickly, easily, and at no cost to you. The overhead doors of the indoor loading bay are activated by motion detectors, when a vehicle approaches the overhead door it opens automatically which causes two problems. First, it allows customers into the facility without checking in by swiping their card. When they go to their lockers and open the alarms sound. This happens frequently. Secondly, and far more importantly, the automatic overhead door openers allows non-customers to enter the facility which poses a profound security issue. By simply turning off, or removing, the automatic door opener sensors it will require customers to check in with their swipe card to gain access to the facility and prevent non-customers' access. This is a HUGE opportunity to improve safety and security at your facility for the benefit of both your customers and for U-Haul.Maureen G. | Overall Experience

The representatives are rude and not knowledgeable. They lie about mileage and where it is in the vehicles. They don't thoroughly examine the vehicles when they're returned. I had 2 representatives lie about the gas meter. They overcharge for things that shouldnt be your fault when their reps are telling you something different. Couldn't get anyone on the 800 number to pick up. The line was long at the location so we ended up booking on-line. We booked a cargo van on-line 4 days before the rental. Upon arrival, the location had no record of our order despite the fact that we had a confirmation. They had no cargo van for us. We ended up getting a 10' truck but we were lucky they had that. The staff was very nice--it wasn't their fault that the on-line service did not properly communicate with the location selected. The truck needed a front end alignment and wobbled in the wind when empty. The return was very easy and quick. That was a good experience.Steven F.

The original reservation we made was deleted. No-one told us you needed to pick up the keys in 48 hours or it would be deleted when we made the reservation on-line. Then the very nice young man who helped us was working his first day at that store and could not find the reservation. Then we were forced to redo the entire reservation, and we were given a location at the back of the facility which is too far for us due to my being disabled, I asked for a unit at the front where we were able to find units which were empty and had no locks. The young man had no idea how to find and switch to those units. We came back and a different person told us the front section where we identified the open units was not officially opened yet, and he had no way to put us on a wait list for those units. He could not tell me when this section would open and I needed to call back every day until it did. Wow, This is inefficient and not customer focused. I called today to see if the section is open. My experience was very good as far as the unit goes. But I was very dissatisfied that I paid the fee at the end of May thinking I may still need the unit a few weeks in to June (which I didn't need it since I secured an apartment) so I felt I should receive a credit because I did not have to use the unit for June. I moved my things out of the unit on May 31. No problem with the unit (it was great, thank you) but the practice of not refunding is not good. I'm a senior and did not have money to just give it away like that. I spoke to the manager who said there would be no refunds. Maybe you could help.Anita J. | Overall Experience

When I got to the store to claim my reserved unit, each guest took a half hour to complete their order with the cashier, we were there over an hour just trying to claim our reserved 10x20x10 storage unit. Another person was there, waiting because the employees misplaced his keys! He was there linger than we were waiting for them to find them. Instead of getting 1 10x20x10 they told us after we checked in that we would be receiving two 10x10 units. We were expecting 1 10x20x10 like my reservation states. We needed the longer space because we are moving and needed a temporary place to keep large furniture and boxes that would have fit better in a single unit than two completely different, side-by-side units. Very impressive the Mr. Craig Wilson team was more then exceptional! His staff at Glenwood Il, location was very intuitive, professional, informative and accommodating. They made a very difficult task simple and stress-free. Everyone I encountered was pleasant and offered assistance. This was my very first experience with uhaul and it won't be my last! Upon Arrival there was two people from another store in Indiana covering for someone else and they both were saying they can't do anything when it comes to storage. So they had a line of people waiting over 30 mins while they were trying to get a password for the system.
