I thought everything went well, until I wasn't able to use the 24hr Svc, due to non comm on the staff part. Left out that bit of info. Went after hours to obtain access and was denied. So I lost time and money due to over mileage. Was charged for over mileage. Due to being denied access. I did inquire at checkout , was told nothing could be done. On 8/13/22 i came into the Garner store on Mechanical blvd., the individual who greeted me was very nice and was able to assist in renting 3 10x15 storage buildings after roughly an hour i checked out @ 10:29am thinking i had 3 10x15 storage areas, at 5:51pm on 8/13/22 i received a message stating that i needed to call the Garner location, i returned the call and was informed that the individual that helped me earlier made a mistake and i no longer had 3 storage areas but only had one, i asked the individual on the phone if she could hold the other 2 10x15 storage sheds until i could get their the morning of 8/16/22 to resolve, i was informed that they could not do this, I then asked to be transferred to a manager, the assistant manager got on the phone and proceeded to tell me that the individual who assisted me was wrong and that the other two buildings i rented were already rented out and that they were not even 10x15, I was also told by this individual that they had only been in their position a couple weeks and that they all needed more training... Question i have for all at U-haul is how do i have paperwork showing 3 10x15 storage units, why was i not shown these units like i have always been in the past with U-haul, if a U-haul employee makes an error how and why does this then become a paying customers problem, I must say i am very disappointed in how the error was handled.Blair J. | Overall Experience

I put ressevation in for truck and furniture dolley. when i got there at 12pm the genterman that put in for my reservation put in for 12 midnight. he was on trainer the genterman that was trainer him should have watch more closer. we pick up the truck wich was larger but only had a small dolly. we had to pay someone to carry furniture up one flight of stairs. also my experience of having cards for storage was only one the mattress one, was told they were not going to order any because people steal them. had to carry things down in tthe evalater , took 4 trips. also iam hanticap.Gail A.

I sat in line for 30 min. During that time I went ahead and did online check in for a 26 ft truck. When I got called up next, the guy helping me said they didn't have a 26 ft truck. I said I would take a 20 ft but they didn't have any either. He said that I needed to call uhaul to get it figured out and where to get the truck. (As usual, this was not the location I chose to pick up anyway. I didn't get a call text or email that my choice was changed). I call uhaul then after 15 min on hold I get someone who was actually very helpful. She couldn't find a 26 but said the location I was at had a 20, even though the guy said they didn't. She gave me directions for self check out and I had to go find the truck myself, which was parked 100 yds along a back street. I got the rental for the day at $10 off usual rate. This is my typical uhaul experience. Their technology sucks for figuring out where their vehicles are, something they should know. And the guy at the counter should have been in the phone helping me, not sending me to my car to call myself.Demir B.

The lines were long waited about 30 or more minutes. The check in was ok but I was not taken to my truck but I had to find it on the lot. I didn't get a furniture dolly I paid for but a $7.99 dolly..that after finding my truck had to go back inside to get the dolly..I was not pleasePertisha C.
Our boxes were in horrible shape from the start. We could barely open or close them. The woman who picked them up said they should not have been dropped off in the first place because you couldn't close them properly without a lot of excessive force. She said we should have been briefed on how to pack the boxes by the people who dropped them off and we didn't get any instructions at all. When being dropped off they had drilled the boxes closed without forewarning and our movers did not have a drill to open them. I was paying them by the hour and we had to figure out how to open. I asked to speak with a supervisor and they said someone would call me the next day and I have yet to hear. When the boxes were being dropped if they called to tell me they would be coming in 10 minutes but did not tell me when they had arrived or that they were dropped. The boxes were in really poor shape some of my items were wet inside. I would not recommend these to anyone. I thought it would be more affordable but in the end it was not and more trouble than a moving truck.Ann A.

The only reason this U-Haul location is still profiting is because of demand. This specific location is under poor management, turnover is crazy here, and NOT ONE employee likes their job. The manager intentionally disconnected the phone (hung up on me) after calling me at 6 am and I told her I didn't know where the rental key was. (My husband did the drop off). I stored my items here for quite some time and every time I came in it seemed like every employee was so unhappy to be there. Some were even just as rude as the manager. There are two things I would do to improve the process. The trailer is heavy and is very difficult to lift and put on the hitch. having a jack on the trailer tongue would be helpful. The second issue was getting the trailer dropped off at the facility. There was many dropped off vans and trucks that it was hard to get in and out of. I was not able to drop off the trailer where asked due to trucks blocking that part of the parking lot. These are all minor as the experience was as expected and the lady that helped me get the trailer was great to deal with.Brent P.
I rented a trailer ftrailer for my motorcycle the gentleman that was at the desk did not help me find the trailer nor nor go over the trailer details nor hook up the trailer to my vehicle I'll search for him could not be found I ended up hooking the trailer up myself and driving off and did what I had to do with it and brought it back I didn't speak to someone afterwards and they were very surprised there were no pictures taking of the trailer hooked up making sure lights work I did that myself none of the safety features that usually go in and when hooking up a trailer by an employee of u-haul were done everything was done by myselfSteven C.

I scheduled my pickup for 930am. I didn't leave with my rented trailer until 1015am. I understand that there were other people who got there before me but one clerk pulled two different people out of line behind me and helped them first. This same clerk rolled her eyes and gave my fiancee attitude because he couldn't move our car right at that moment because the battery had died. We got a quick jump and immediately moved out of the way but neither of us appreciated the attitude when we clearly couldn't do anything. Luckily she didn't help me with my rental but I watch her scoff and cuss at the computer and all around just have a bad attitude the whole time I was there. The other young clerk that helped me was very kind and was moving quickly the whole time. I will make sure next time I add on more time for rental pickup as I was on a time constraintTaylor H.

I had a 12:30 reservation. I arrived on time but had to wait in a very long line that took over 30 minutes as there were only two workers to check you out and with them having to attend to the customers and then run out to the trucks to check them out and do other things it took a very long time so my start time for moving was delayed because of that. Either more workers on the register to help the customers and a separate person to bring the trucks and check them for the customers would be great. However, everything else was very good with the truck size and gas maintenance, especially for a V8. I would definitely get another truck from this location or recommend to a friend but I am unfortunately moving from this area so I would not be able to use this location in the distant future. ¡Gracias!Sharon A.

This location tried to charge me extra miles because their documents showed that I picked up the rental at the location I ordered it from not the pick up location I was routed to 20 miles away. They only had 147 mile allowance instead of the 182 miles allowance I should have had for picking up at the difference location. The entire reservation/ pickup system needs improvement. Nothing wrong with the facility or the employee's handling of the drop off. The issue is there was only one person on duty and it took about 1-1/2 hrs waiting in line to get help. Tried to call U-Haul to get another location for drop off but the phone wait was over an hour. After getting assistance I had to find a parking spot for the trailer and unhook myself (I am fully capable to accomplish, but others might not be). I understand getting employees is difficult right now, but you should adjust your processes to accommodate where you can. Suggestions: 1. Signage stating to drop off equipment and leave paperwork (just like an after hours drop off) - without an additional fee. 2. Alternative drop off locations - without penalty. 3. Why are you now charging $20 for after hour drop offs? Again, employee was doing the best she could given the circumstances, but corporate needs to step up with options for customers.Steve S.

This place in Garner was perfect! No complains at all! However, the process, changes, and hours of waiting in the phone was very unpleasant. U-Haul didn't have what I reserved 2 months in advanced, then an agent told me that having a reservation is not a warranty to have a truck or whatever I need! So, what is the point of doing a reservation? I told this agent that the website is misleading with the information! She apologized and said that it is true that the website doesn't explain these details. I had plans, I paid for movers to come a certain time and date. U-Haul one more time changed my time and pick up place! I lost money and time!!! Finally after days of stress and phone calls! I was able to get the truck. The other places in Cary and Durham were unprofessional, dirty, horrible customer service! I can't believe U-Haul partners with these places! I used U-Haul before in illinois and I had good experiences! This experience in NC was a disaster! During the trip the trailer tire needed to be replaced I waited 5-6 hours in the shoulder in the middle of nowhere. Again uhaul was very disappointing!Christian G.
Poor Customer Service. I rented a truck and the employees didn't do an inspection on the truck before I left with it. I use the truck for 28 miles and put fuel back in it and returned it. Then I received an invoice and a charge for not putting fuel back in the truck even though I had a receipt on hand showing I filled it back up. Employees and Manager was very rude and accused me of lying to her. I received only a partial credit, not the full credit due back to me. I called customer service for help and they never contacted me back. The manager Jasmine gave me partial credit and told me to stop complaining. I reserved a utility dolly, 3 dozen furniture blankets, and a furniture dolly. I received a utility dolly, 1 dozen furniture blankets, and no furniture dolly. Instead I had to PAY for a new furniture dolly because they â€œweren't allowed to rent the new ones.â€ The term used when booking equipment is â€œreservation.â€ It's not a reservation if the equipment is not there when you are scheduled to pick it up. It's more like a wishlist. You might get what you need to be able to effectively move, but probably not.Andrew K.

There are serious issues at the location in Garner. There is so much equipment being returned on a Monday that even at noon, the entire yard is full and returning a trailer is nearly impossible. There are not enough staff members for assistance. I had to drive over a curb and back the trailer into a very tight location which was difficult with the length of my truck. I also had to drive out a different way and over the curb again to leave, there was too much equipment parked at the entrance. If I could give this location NO STARS for all of the questions in this survey I would! I don't usually take surveys but me experience was so bad at this location, my husband called corporate on the way home! Immediately upon arriving there was no parking and I had to circle the building several times! The line of trucks that needed to be checked in was up in to the main road! You couldn't even enter the location without having to finagle your way in through a barely accessible road in the back of the building. When I did have a place to park in the back of the building I was met with a very rude employee who spoke to me callous and snipped at me for not having the truck on the line, despite there being NO place to park it without it sticking out in traffic! I advised I would do the self check out and she rudely began to ignore any further questions I had at that moment. While performing the check out she walked by and I had a question about the fuel gauge and she continued to be rude to me in all of her answers! My husband finally got involved as he was waiting in the car FOR AN HOUR, and when he went to ask her a question (both of us were being very polite) she started to ignore him AND WALKED AWAY!!!! He spoke to another gentleman inside whom advised he had used this location several times before and they were â€œalways like thatâ€ and â€œthis was the worst one in townâ€. It was such an awful experience that I will probably never use U-Haul again! From start to finish (rescheduling my unit 40 miles away, my truck not having gas, and the terrible customer service I received at the Garner location, I will warn everyone I know that this company is NOT about giving its customers an easy experience- it is about hauling as many trucks on the road as it can!!!Laura T.

The staff has been friendly in the past, but I've had SO MANY small issues that seem like mountains to correct on the business's end. First I was assigned a unit that was already in use. That took 30-45 minutes to sort out and correct. I asked and was told more than 3 times that there would be a lock in the unit. (Both times I was assigned a unit.) When I finally accessed my correct and available unit, there was NO LOCK. Now I have been on hold for almost 20 minutes, waiting to confirm that a lock will be readily available for me today, 2 days after my reservation start date. I AM NOT MOVING OUT - - Within 3 days of moving In in December '21, I have been continually receiving emails and phone calls asking if I'm still using the unit, and that continued for the first 2 weeks until I yelled and screamed...now 3 months later it has started again, saying "sorry to see you go" - - WHAT??? Again, I am NOT moving out so please stop making me crazy. I have visited this unit weekly to add more items, and when I go this week to find my unit empty - - we will be going to court, as I have every month of paid receipts. was assigned a storeroom on second floor of a rather large building. The room was in the opposite corner from the single entrance. Much too far away from entrance and single elevator that had to be shared with other tenants. Whose brilliant idea was it to put a 10 by 15 on the second floor hundreds of feet from elevator?!There were several people using the elevator. it would have taken us hours to unload, wait for elevator and get to unit and unload. The elevator cannot be locked out so we would have to load and unload one small cart at a time. Extremely poor design and planning on U hauls part. Rented a covered outside storage spot,got confirmation notice, arrived to park my trailer and there was a non moveable car in my spot. All other spots were full, had to park along the drive with no cover.they told me they were going to have the car towed, never happened. Came and got my trailer 1 week early went in and told them I was picking it up and that I was done with my rental. Just recently received a letter stating that I was late on making my payment for the next month and if I did not pay,with a late fee, that it would be sent to collections! Called uhaul explained the situation and she told me it would be canceled and she would send me a email confirming the cancelation. Have not received a email as of yet! I have bought four units at this facility. I just checked out of two of them due to i was able to condense my items into the remaining two to save some money. When i was checking out i was informed and noticed a complete change in attitude and management was taking place so it looks like things are moving in the right direction. However, this wasnt the case when i moved in around October of 2021. I was told things were really bad by the new personal, due to management issues and i understand things can be hectic but i believe there is a common ground that all personnel should be expected to adhere too in the absence of a General Manager. What i witnessed and went through should not happen anywhere. Im a returning customer with U Haul and every place seems to be the same and i can count on how things are ran and up till this facility things have been spot on. At first i thought it might of been an associated storage using the uhaul name and having "their own way of doing things" but no this was a full blown Uhaul store. From reserving to actually paying for my unit ahead of time so i knew it was there for me as i was making a long distance move in a 26ft truck i needed everything to work in my favor and expected it after dealing with uhaul before. After driving long hours I walked in and they said my unit wasnt available. Which i thought was odd since they said they "put eyes on it" not only did we reserve the unit weeks ago we paided for it to be there to permanently lock the storage as we knew availability was limited.. after and hour of waiting and witnessing how lazy everyone was. They got it figured out. I also bought an outdoor storage that wasnt even available due to the "previous manager using it for personal things" and you guessed it... it was the only one of the size I needed available.. which is why we needed the extra two I just checked out of.. I also saw why i was on hold for so long when i called months before. They answer the call put it on hold and let it sit, going back to their cell phones... with nobody even in the store to assist.. Lazy and unprofessional at its best. The storage facility was poorly kept as well. We bought 24hr access to help ourselves.. The dock lights were off all night long, bathrooms not stocked with toilet paper,towels or even soap.. hot water at the sink was pure cold even after letting it run! Best part was they would lock the lock the sliding automatic door 30 minutes before closing, with a key lock stating "homeless people get in". Then when they would open the next day the slding door was still locked until about noon to 1 o'clock in the afternoon. So everyone who pulled up during the day would have to use the mandoor only! I witnessed nothing of the homeless sort as i worked through the night and rested their briefly and worked through the next day. Always kept to myself and was never in anyones way. If the security would be working as it should then even after hours, my 24 hr access should of gotten me into the building through either the man door or sliding door as ive experienced before. Not to mention the person who unlocked the door acted so rudely and bothered like we were "inconveniencing them". The whole facility was very shady to say the least. I hope the new management and new faces behind the workings get it back up to standards. This facility needs it and from what ive seen in the amount of Red access denied tags. Shequeena and Ryan were super helpful even after I had to get a bigger room after I got started unloading. Had a minor incident with another customer who couldn't get in and was yelling at me to let him in. I did not said I couldn't and he started screaming at me. Ryan came to the building to straighten his code out and he was still yelling at me. I asked Ryan to stay until he went in and he graciously did. I was by myself and an older woman. I checked in online, got my rental unit with access code. The website said a lock would be in the unit when I arrived. When I arrived, the access code did not work, so I checked in at the front. When I got to my rental unit, there was a lock on the unit as it had already been rented by someone else. The staff was very helpful getting this fixed, but I was almost there after closing. This was the most unprofessional customer service experience I have had in a while. I checked in online but still had to wait 25 minutes in the store. I also reserved a storage unit. I was given FOUR different units until I was finally given one that wasn't ALREADY occupied. How can you manage a storage facility but don't keep an accurate list of what's occupied and what's open? I made FOUR TRIPS from the storage area to the office because every unit I was given was occupied. The truck I rented transmission was slipping so bad I thought I was going to breakdown. The older white lady with the short hair , who I think was the Manger was more concerned with smoking cigarettes instead of assisting the ONE employee who was trying her best to accommodate a full lobby. This young lady was a new hire and was placed in the most horrible position. I usual go to the hwy 64 location on New Bern Ave. They are OUTSTANDING!! Professional, friendly and helpful. Everything was great except for getting staff to make sure all access doors were available to customers during business hours. There have been entirely too many instances where staff failed to insure that all access doors were available for customers to use. The worst situation for me in particular was not having the main (sliding door) available for more than 3 and a half hours of storage use. VERY UNSATISFACORY!!! This place is the worst. lighting and cameras do not function. I had everything stolen right under their noses... and they just shrug their shoulders. It is impossible to communicate with them as all emails are no reply. They never answer the phone... on hold in cycle for hours (literally). So I was in site 3015. The dude to the left of me is a roofer and stores his trailers there. Several times I found roofing nails on the ground around my trailer. Not purposely placed. Just debris from his jobs I am sure, but it remains a problem for someone pulling a trailer. I spoke with your team on a couple occasions, although receptive, I really don't think anyone followed up with him or looked into the issue.
