I was not greeted when I pulled into the lot. I was not directed as to where to drop off the trailer so I found an open spot in the lot drop off the trailer. I did not expect the store to be open during the holiday so started the online drop off process when I saw someone enter the store. I went into the store and found a uhaul associate who's first question was â€œdid you just drop of that trailer out front?â€ When I responded that I had she complained that I had not left it in the correct spot. I offered (twice) to move it to a different location and was told it would be okay she would take care of it. I asked if I needed to sign for the drop off and again was told that she would take care of it. I did not complete the online drop off process because I was told that the in store associate would take care of the process and would email me a return. The email I received on the Monday after the holiday included a bill for $97 for extra days rental showing that the trailer had not been returned until the Monday after the holiday. I called and explained the situation and was told that (again) that it would be taken care of but as of 3 days later the charge is still on my credit card. My last call was to uhaul corporate who has put me on hold for 45 minutes.Matthew B.

The agent helping me at the desk at check in was seemingly on FaceTime the entire time I was interacting with her, including when she took my license. She never muted or turned the camera away; however, she did not point my license or any info to the person she was talking with. Moving van had significant mechanical issues. The exhaust was leaking, transmission was slipping and had difficulty shifting into gear, brakes were very worn and did not slow the vehicle effectively, and the steering arms needed new ball joints. There were more issues than ones that could simply be obtained by driving it, as the vehicle only managed 5mpg in mixed city/highway use. Two of the three employees in the store refused to do any actual work, one of them was lying to customers about their reservation and availability of vehicles to a customer on the phone in order to avoid doing any work. The third employee who actually helped me was great and got me out the door, but it was a lot of frustration getting to that point.BRANDON R.
Clean the vehicles, remove any adhesive from the windshield blocking the view of the road, fix the radio dial that adjusts the sound. Fix the auto door locks so I do not have to do it manually. Fix the alignment in the vehicles. Use frebreeze so the trucks DO NOT REEK OF SMOKE. So annoying. Educate the customer service so they can explain all the charges on the contract and not just guess. All of those things happened or are currently wrong with my cargo van. I just paid $929.00 and I feel like third hand garbage. Like no one cares who rents from uhaul. I should have a prefferred status with a discount. Ive spent 6,000 on uhaul rentals this year.Thomas P.

I checked in online, got my rental unit with access code. The website said a lock would be in the unit when I arrived. When I arrived, the access code did not work, so I checked in at the front. When I got to my rental unit, there was a lock on the unit as it had already been rented by someone else. The staff was very helpful getting this fixed, but I was almost there after closing. Not completely this locations fault, but i got bounced between 3 places before getting the size truck i originally ordered. I drove the truck 50 miles, and 1 mile before returning i put in $30 in gas which put the gas needle back to where it was when i picked it up. However, i was charged almost $25 in gas. I've followed up on that and have not gotten any response. I should not have been charged anything for gas as i went out of my way to make sure it was refilled.Robert G.

Have personal at the store. I got paperwork after waiting in line for at least 45 minutes. Then had a problem getting the trailer and mo one came out ( only ONE) person working. I selected mobile check out when making the reservation, upon arriving your website said the vehicle could not be checked out and I had to speak to a representative. There was a line of about 10 people and the worker was in no rush to get people out the door. It took way too long and apparently a reservation means nothing because the guy in front of me reserved a 25" and was SOL when they didn't have any and were told the reservation isn't a guarantee... Then when dropping off my van I had to wait in a long line again because they had charged me for two days instead of one. Only the manager can refund but she wasn't in office so I had to talk to her on the associate's phone. While trying to get refunded I got another random $3 charge for no apparent reason and was told "Idk why it does that, it did this same thing to a guy the other day" like WHATTT. I don't trust their systems at all. I did end up getting my money back, but that was probably the most frustrating service experience I've ever had. I reserved at 20' truck for pick up at 11:30am 10/30/21. When I got there at 11:30am in the parking lot I checked in on my iphone. I went inside and got in line and it was only 2 people in front of me. Looking at my iPhone the instructions said to look for my truck # and confirm if I see it. So, I got out of line to do so and did not see my truck on the lot. I went back inside and there were three additional people that had come in and just that short of time. I asked for The manager because my reserved truck wasn't there. I was told by the lady at the desk who said her name was Jonze Williams and she said she was the manager. I told her that I was upset because my reserved truck was not on their lot. She told me that Uhaul over books reservations and that at their location they just go by first come first serve. I was apalled because I have been renting from Uhaul for over 15 years and have never experienced this. I told the manager that I needed a replacement for the one that they gave to someone else and that guy was only third in line when I first came in there but because I had to go out to the parking lot and look for the truck now I have to wait longer which is no fault of my own. The benefit of reserving and checking in from the phone is that all I have to do is go in and they hand me the key no waiting. This manager was not at all apologetic nor did she displayed any kind of empathy and told me I just had to wait. Her whole attitude was very unprofessional and frankly immature. She Hass to be a new manager at that store because only six months ago I had rented a U-Haul from there and there was a different manager. I hate to see anyone become unemployed but clearly this manager needs to receive coaching and further training on sensitivity and not making excuses and to stand behind U-Haul companies reservation policies. Jonze should definitely be coached about not honoring customers who have reserved and checked in from their phone. Another truck was provided to me, but it was not for a one-way trip which meant I had to bring the truck back to that location I'm mechanical Boulevard from where I moved to 30 minutes away. This caused me to have an additional 25 miles to pay for than if my original reserved truck had not been given to someone else. So instead of paying $85 I had to pay $117. All because my reservation was not honored.renee P.

Above average rating due to you need additional personnel to manage this location to decrease the wait times in the queue and also a dedicated person to clean the vehicles. The truck that I rented, the steering wheel on the vehicle was sticky and there was trash still in the vehicle from the previous renter. You all should get into the practice of cleaning the vehicles after each return. This is vital especially due to the pandemic.Carl S.

I returned the rental van more than 2 hours before the deadline. The guy who was checking in the card told me I just needed to leave the keys inside and go. That's what I did , but later in the afternoon I got a call from the location. The voice message said that I wasn't returning the car on time and the person who call warned me I would be charged for the delay. I tried to call back but the location was closed. This location was friendly equipment clean, tire on vehicle had wires showing, tire in bed flat also, I partially blame myself for not checking vehicle closer myself. This oversight resulted in 2 he delay,service guy very prompt and professional, my complaint is not with the garner store my complaint is with the 100 Graham St Selma NC 27576 location, I stopped there to rent a car trailer, I was told that my vehicle I planned to use was insufficient and not allowed to pull the trailer, so I ended up renting trailer and truck from Garner, witch was a 1500 dodge truck, I'm more than positive that the Ford F 150 I planned on using would have been just fine, so this haul location in Selma cost me the price of a truck rental and the 50 dollars in fuel to refill the tank. So my question is this does Uhaul not recognize Ford as a decent truck brand or was the dealer in Selma biased towards fords , I would really appreciate a response or I will ask the same question on Facebook because I would like to know the answer, but that dealer in Selma cost me close to 200 dollars again was pleased with the store in GarnerDOUGLAS Q.

This was the most unprofessional customer service experience I have had in a while. I checked in online but still had to wait 25 minutes in the store. I also reserved a storage unit. I was given FOUR different units until I was finally given one that wasn't ALREADY occupied. How can you manage a storage facility but don't keep an accurate list of what's occupied and what's open? I made FOUR TRIPS from the storage area to the office because every unit I was given was occupied. The truck I rented transmission was slipping so bad I thought I was going to breakdown. The older white lady with the short hair , who I think was the Manger was more concerned with smoking cigarettes instead of assisting the ONE employee who was trying her best to accommodate a full lobby. This young lady was a new hire and was placed in the most horrible position. I usual go to the hwy 64 location on New Bern Ave. They are OUTSTANDING!! Professional, friendly and helpful. This location used be vibrant and just awesome with the previous staff and management. You walk in there and everyone is all smiles and you're in and out in no time. You walk in now you see chuck. Grumpy old dude who still think hes in his 20s and has power trips over his clients. Very rude and wouldn't recommend keeping as a manager for the location or even a truck cleaner. The two employees mentioned that they only had been there a month. Things moved rather slow. The cashier walked away to go help another customer, I had just told her my husband wanted to purchase something. My debit card didn't work because of something that was going on with the system. The cashier had to manually input my information. I'm not sure if she is the manager or just a cashier but she walked in without a mask and after returning the truck in about an hour she still didn't have on a mask.LATONYA S.
Staff was funny but pretty unprofessional. Cargo van was empty but they told me to fill it up so I had to go back and tell them that. They were like that's fine just bring it back at 1/4 and we will give you $27 back. I did bring it back at 1/4, I even stopped and put an extra $5 to get to the 1/4 tank before dropping it off. I put 21.5 miles on it because my house is very close and just needed to move a big couch. They said I drove like 300+ miles hahahaha. I don't even think I can do that in the 4-5 hours I had the car. Anyways.. I was charged like $166 and I should have been charged $34 minus the $27 for the gas since I received it at empty (0 miles to empty). Called a lady who said someone from the branch was going to call me but I guess we will see. I've lost more money making this call and writing this review than what I'm going to get back and what's fair but you guys need to know so it doesn't happen to other people.BRANCO T.

Over charged initially for furniture dolly's that I never received. Couldn't get anyone on the phone on the day I rented to discuss. Day of return was told it won't be a problem they will take it off the charge. Received the receipt and was charged. When I called back the first time was placed on a hold for 23 mins (in the hopes I just hung up and gave up). Called back 4 times after that couldn't get anyone on the phone. Finally waited for everyone to forget about the incident. Called back an hour later spoke to a â€œmanagerâ€ who had the nastiest attitude. No name just picked up the phone. When I explained what had gone one the initial words were â€œuh-huhâ€ and â€œyepâ€ then was told I was wrong and there was a 14.00 credit given to me (which it was there) however the other 70.00 of furniture dolly charges were still on there and initially I kept getting told I was wrong. Finally after having her finally take a look at the bill, (basically was attempting to blow me off as if I didn't know what I was talking about) realized oh I was right and finally took it off my bill. Everything was great except for getting staff to make sure all access doors were available to customers during business hours. There have been entirely too many instances where staff failed to insure that all access doors were available for customers to use. The worst situation for me in particular was not having the main (sliding door) available for more than 3 and a half hours of storage use. VERY UNSATISFACORY!!! I called a month before the actual moving to the storage unit and using the truck. I got to the place in Morganton to get my truck and the guy there was rude and did not want to answer my questions and he said he did not want to talk to me the he would talk to my daughter (I am Spanish and my daughter looks American) he should not be so rude and calm my anxiety with the answer to my questions which were very legitimate considering the truck charge was high (he said I was going to be held for $343.00 but my money will be credited to my card once we got there) I did not understand WHY he couldn't just do the right thing because that was way too much and he said we couldn't return truck back in Morganton but it was really not true. Anyhow, I called the U haul place at Mechanical Blvd. in Raleigh and the guy who answered the phone was not very knowledgeable and he just couldn't even find my reservation. We get there at 3:53 and as told in Morganton but the owner, Mr. Hennessee, we wanted to let them know we were there so the time we got there is recorded an he said I would get $100 back credited for early return of truck. The storage place is busy, the guys Kenneth Perry, says he can help me, but when he is helping me some other people say that they need to talk to him and he tells me to stay there on that register while he helps this other customer because they need help. I asked Why is the other guy not helping because I believe once a customer is being helped then he should finish his work with them and then get the next customer. He went and helped the other people and when he got back to help me, then he rushed because he wouldn't answer my questions and he did not even make sure I was not charged for my first month . He told me to wait at storage unit number given and that he would be there shortly. When we get to the storage unit. I did not feel safe. There was a woman there who says she has 3 storage units and sure she did have a dog in one of the units, she had her blanket, microwave, cheese, food, eating there. She also had all her stuff spread all over hallway and told me not to go by there because she needed the hallway to spread her junk. I told her I did not care and that we needed to unload our stuff because we had been driving for 3 hours and we wanted to get it done. She also took some of our stuff and we had to ask her to give back to us. She looked like she was on some drugs. The alarm went off when we opened my unit and when we tried to close. THUS, they should fix that. Someone should make sure NOBODY is in those units eating, sleeping and with animals.That is not a safe nor good idea. I am scared to go back there by myself. At 6pm, I asked that guy who helped us to please make sure I got my money credited and he gave me a number that is not even UHAUL to call and talk to them because he said he couldn't do it.. Customer service not good at all. What a hassle for me to go through all this while I am trying to move out of my old house , store things and finish my work .Ingrid K. | First Impressions
