The clamp on the hitch was broken and had to be replaced. One of the employees berated another employee in front of me because the guy didn't know how to replace the clamp/lock. I placed a reservation for an enclosed 6X12 trailer. I was contacted the morning I was supposed to pick it up and told it wasn't available at the location I chose and that I would have 20 miles to another Uhaul to get one. Then when I got to the other location my reservation had been changed to a open 6x12 utility trailer which resulted in me having to purchase tarps in order to protect my furniture. UHaul estimate for 2" hitch and electric connections was not accurate. even though the car was present. Correct electric harness was not available at time of hitch installation, requiring a second apt and greater labor cost. The requested 7-pin connection not installed, but afterwards offered at a greater material and labor cost. My friends will not be referred to UHaul. Customer service people at this location were at best uncooperative and argumentative. That is based on 2 out of 4 of them I dealt with. To top it off I had rented my trailer at 4:00 PM Mountain Time and had 72 hoursâ€¦3 days to return it. I got there at 3:25 PM and even when I pulled up my text messages showing the time I uploaded my driver's license and was sent the message to check equipment before I left the lot as well as the email showing the invoice time, they still insisted I rented the trailer earlier due to the time change from Pacific Time. They insisted on charging me for a full day of rental even though I returned the equipment a half hour before the deadline which seemed reasonable. It wasn't the day charge that was the worst, just the threatening nature of the employees demanding the equipment come back early, then the agreement that it could be out until 4:00, me returning it at 3:30 and then getting charged without a signature and the belligerence after they charged me. The manager was rude. I said since they were going to charge me to clean a truck that wasn't that clean and the truck at the time I took it had a eighth of a tank and I filled it completely up I would go let it rin for the two hours I still was supposed to have it and the manager told Jared take co tol of it and if she takes it it is theft. So I was charged for 24 hours and was refused to use it for this amount of time. The guy Jared said it would be a 15 dollar clean fee and then afterwards wanted to charge more. Our culture and schools and even parents are not always doing a great job of teaching young people how to be personable. Cameron, Jamin and Emma all do relatively competent work, but they lack people skills, and it's not entirely or even mostly their own fault. The "tough guy" demeanor instead of a smile; the "push back" behavior instead of friendly banter .. these types of behavior overshadow the work that they do and make the customer experience unpleasant. Interaction with customers should be upbeat and positive and lighthearted, in addition to being competent. I did not sense that with some of your employees, but I don't blame them entirely. Our job as the "adults in the room" is to do a better job of leading by example and instilling the attitude in young adults that makes business run more smoothly, both for the company and the customers. The three people mentioned here did a good job and should be recognized for that. That said, improvements in customer interaction would give a big boost to their careers and U-Haul's reputation.James O.

I reserved AND prepaid for a 20' truck, appliance dolly and the Safemove. When I picked up the truck, I was charged around $40 more when I was told by a worker to two others (3 guys) just standing there, "give him an extra day, there are PLENTY of notes". Previously after I had prepaid for my reservation, I called to inquire how much an extra day would be, I was told "$40". So to me it looks like I was charged $40 for the extra day, OR for the larger truck, because after I paid and signed the contract, I was handed a set a keys and told where to get the appliance dolly. I walked outside and had to load the dolly myself AND FIND THE TRUCK. When I found it, it was a 26' truck. It was not what I reserved AND paid for. I felt like I was unwittingly upcharged for a truck I didn't want. And no, I did not go back inside to say something because these 3 were the most unprofessional and unhelpful guys I ever came across. When I worked for U-Haul at the Nampa, ID location, a job requirement was to load the customer's truck with any extra equipment they rented, and bring the truck up to the front for them. If we had to upgrade them to a larger truck because what they ordered was unavailable, we did NOT upcharge them. I was either upcharged, or charged for the "give him an extra day". I think this falls under the $50 guarantee you have advertised. I was NOT given the equipment I paid for AND I received substandard customer service. This occurred about 4pm on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at the Chinden, Boise ID location.Lance R.

The latch on the trailer was very difficult to close. I had to close the lever while holding the bottom latch out from the trailer for both top and bottom to close properly. The top and bottom were well rusted, and the doors must have been bent out of alignment.Grant B.

# 1 Get a customer lounge when people are waiting for their hitch work to be done. Especially for those out of town. Standard â€˜fixed operations' 101 to have a customer lounge for install waits. Even Les Schaub has them. Having customers sit on box stacks is a little lame. Employees have them at the service desk! #2 Communicate with customer. If the previous customers job goes into the next customers time slot, communicate with that customer! It was me. My time is valuable too! I was scheduled for 1/2 hour, I waited 1 hour 10 minutes.JAY S.
The only issue I had with this process was not knowing how many boxes to order. It was my error though in not knowing how the dimensions translated into how many boxes I would need. I just want to express my sincere thanks to Jennifer who made things so easy for me. She went way beyond in helping us with the final delivery of our boxes. She is a very valuable employee and I hope her superiors realize this. I have not found a nicer person willing to help strangers like they were her own friends. I was told there would be a lock in the unit when I opened it, but there wasn't. I went into the office to ask about it and they said they were out of stock. No one communicated this to me before I dropped off a load of my stuff. Meanwhile a load of my stuff was in the unit unlocked while I had to go to a store to purchase one. I'm not upset about there being no lock, I'm upset about the lack of communication and the subsequent poor customer service of the guys running the office. The unit I had (745) was a very difficult unit to access by moving van or trailer and near end of contract the front of my unit was significantly blocked by additional units placed on the ground which made it unusable for me to back into so I was not able to continue using it for what I needed it for. At the time of initial rental unit there were no other units available. This unit was also quite expensive I thought comparably in the market. The staff was extremely nice and always helpful, the hours of access are great, but this is just an inconveniently placed unit for access with busy and restricted access (single lane right driveway) and limited turn around area for a vehicle with any kind of trailer or moving truck. I believe it would be helpful to make additional notes at time of rental that this unit cannot be backed into and that you will need to carry or haul items quite a distance that are moved into or out of this unit.wendy A. | Overall Experience
First off. Doing ANYTHING at this location has been a chore and takes three times longer than it should. Every time I'm in there the employees look like they hate their job- tepid at best- and all complain that the computers take forever and are having loading issues. That was no different today. Otherwise. They lost my reservation, then didn't have the size of truck I needed, and originally reserved, so I had to make multiple trips instead of one to achieve what I needed. Still charged me full price, of course, without a single apology for the issues that I can remember. The truck was to be returned in full, although upon checking the fuel before I left it was 7/8's. Had to contact and remedy contract with people at the store and (I believe Dan) was great about it. Minor inconvenience, as an isolated incident and Dan did fine. Also. The location charged me a late fee, despite me being on autopay with the same card and same expiration date I set up my account with. Employee said the expiration date was wrong in the system, but again, it is the same exp. date I have had for years. As I got that resolved, they waived the fee, of course - it wasn't an error on our end- they asked if I wanted to pay up the account. I said no, as I am clearing out the location today. Person said that is fine and goodbye. I thanked him, and then I turned to leave and was stopped by another person saying that actually I have to pay because I have been in the unit 4 days after the payment date. I told the person that if they really feel that it's fair to charge me after loosing my rental, not having the truck I need because of that, charging me erroneously and me having to figure it out with them, to do what they think is right. Got home after spending the day moving with the small truck, and they charged me for the entire month for half a week's stay into the period. Beyond that. I called the week prior and specifically let them know when I'd be cleaning out and was not advised of any period of time that I would have to be out by to not be reimbursed for a prorated amount for the month. I was further frustrated at the fact that, despite the maybe 10 Keys on the wall for reservations coming in, there were probably 20 trucks on the lot that were the size I needed anyway. I'm sure there's a reason that I was told that a 15' truck that I had reserved prior wasn't available, maintenance, or whatever, but this certainly just struck an additional chord. I'd recommend putting more effort into customer service. I found your customers service was extremely difficult to access. I was managing this remotely and attempted to get in touch with a human being via both the on line chat and the phone (did this simultaneously). Spent 51 minutes on hold. Before the 51 minute long hold, I got to someone who said she needed to transfer me and that it would only take a minute. I'd say she set my expectations incorrectly. The information disconnect between the national and local customer service staff is pretty significant. As a result, I wasted HOURS when I should have been packing the truck trying to verify where and when my contract showed I would be I at my destination and what storage I would be using. When I moved out, I cancelled the truck I had ordered but wanted to keep the rental for moving blankets which the very pleasant lady from national told me I could do. When I arrived with trailers and trucks to load nice furniture and antiques, local told me I could not rent blankets unless I rented equipment. They said it was policy bcs so many people did not return blankets. So charge them the purchase price for the unreturned blankets when you figure their final bill. Part of the contract started that I would recieve a free lock. I recieved a text message stating that the lock would be in my unit upon move-in. It was not. I tried calling the office about this. After approximately 10 minutes of letting the phone ring someone who identified themselves as Jodie answered. When told the problem she at first replied that locks were not provided. That'll when informed that I read promised a lock in my unit she said that was incorrect and I needed to come inside for one. As I was exciting the storage area to cums into the building to pick up a lock Jodie left the building and drove away leaving me no opportunity to lock my unit. I had to drive to Wal-Mart and purchase a lock. I spoke to corporate about the behavior and was promised I would recieve a call back. It's been a week and no phone call. Also, I rented a 5x10 unit and it is not 5x10 no matter how you measure it. Given the broken promise of a lock, the exceedingly poor customer service by both corporate and the local location, and the incorrect unit size I just cannot recommend U-Haul storage to anyone.John C. | Online Move In

My only problem was when we rented a truck to move out. When returning the truck we made the mistake of dropping the key in the night box before checking out on our phone, we called uhaul and the (nice) lady on the phone helped us as much as she could but yet we were charged $20.00 the next morning for not completing the process online.....and then I was told it is a way to get the customer "to help them" (uhaul).lee J. | Overall Experience
The instructions made it seem like I was supposed to move in and then get my gate key. Only one gate is accessible and to leave the key pad is rather far away. I couldn't find the keypad before office was open and struggled to get out, even with customer service on chat mobile. I couldn't reach anyone by phone. Sean and his staff were customer service driven, polite and knowledgeable. Our locker was clean and that was super important to us to house our goods temporarily at the facility. While speaking to more then 3 people I kept getting different information on my Uboxs. First 2 did not know how to look up when my payment was coming out. The third person told me that I didn't have to pay for it till I went and picked it up. 2 days later I was charged a week earlier then the u-boxes were supposed to arrive which ended in overdrafting my account. When I called to see if they could revirse I was transferred 3 times. Where no one could help. By the end they transferred me to the first person I talked to. The unit was an old pull trailer which was fine for the things I have to store. However, it leaked on more than one spot. The clicker that I was given didn't work so I got stuck inside the gate.
