The truck was covered in snow. I had to remove snow myself from the front ground area get the truck out. They did not have a furniture dolly that I requested online. They told me I could return the truck at any location and that turned out to be a lie. Too many issues. Also I requested to pick up the truck from East Gude and Frederick Ave in Rockville so that I could keep the mileage under the allowed amount. U-Haul changed the pick up location without my consent at both the pick up and drop off locations. This put me over the included mileage amount on purpose.VELTINA H.
As my containers were booked by uhaul sales team, they choose Gaithersburg, MD as the destination parking location. After it reaches all the way from south to Gaithersburg, MD. Manager in that location told me that it can not be delivered to my house and I have to pick by myself. I have to spend another $500 for the door delivery with third party. Staffs are not at all sync. between them. Everybody is boss there! On call representatives don't keep proper notes to the next representative on call. Sometimes they say that you don't have any container with us, I don't know if it's a joke always! Final verdict, if you have time to follow-up, expect additional shipping expenses and beat up your heart beats then go with U-Box.KEITHIRWIN C.
long wait to check-in. For check out, I was told that the lanes for equipment rental did not apply yo me. No signs of mention of that at any time prior. I was told to take the trailer to the top of the hill and park it. Got up there and there were not any parking spaces for the 12x6 trailer. I then struggled to get the hitch to release. Called the store for help, but no answer. I saw a device used to move trailers around and was able to use it to lift the hitch up and release it from my vehicleJeffery L.

I had scheduled an appointment for 9am, and had a confirmation email with that time. When I arrived at 9 they told me I missed my appointment that in their system was at 7:15 am although I never booked that time and had a confirmation email showing the proper time. I will have to call tomorrow. This is absolutely ridiculous. I am always using uhauls services and this location is just awful about chargingthe correct price . Every time I've rent a trailer I've been over charged (over 4times this has happened). I have to always call and take time out of my day for your mistakes. It's very frustrating. Made reservations for a one way utility trailer. When I got here to pick it up, I was told they couldn't do a one way. Which meant that I would have to return it back to this location. I tried to check in with my app but the wifi and program was not working well, so I had to go inside to do everything. When I went in, two of your employees were not wearing masks. This is in Montgomery County, Maryland where there is a mask mandate - it even says so on the door. I had to ask one of them to put on a mask and he had to find one! The other guy had already walked out of the building. Other than that, the van was great - loved having the backup camera!ROBIN R.

the truck didn't had the driver's visor; which I didn't find out until I needed to use it. Making the driving of the truck dangerous as the sun was coming down and it was at eye level which prevented me to see clearly on coming traffic on the highway and on rural roads.Hector P.

When one does "Checking-In" online, with uploading one's D. License, the Rental Process should be flawless & Quick, which it wasn't, and erroneous info. about "Rental Equipment" was on the Contract, which the Rep. could not remove; adding further Delays in my Departure, and causing Lateness in my meeting up with my Helpers! *Also, there was a "filled" McDonald's bag under the center seat / console! ... And the Truck was pulling towards the left; which speaks to a wheel alignment is needed (or rotation of the tires!?! )! ... Thus my "Rating" above, & response to the "2nd Question!" **Lastly, the Inability to adjust the Side Mirrors restricts Safer Driving. The Driver side mirror had No Cover on the inside with Screws & nuts visible; with No "Controls" to adjust it! ... and was not feasible to Do Manually (as I tried)! ... ***By GOD's Grace, I made there & back Safely! ... You need more people assistring customers.There was a very long line by the time I was finished even though the person helping me was also multi taksing with others at the same time. I was not able to get into the locker I rented since I did not have anything to cut the temporary plastic lock on it. I was not told about this and no one was there. So I need to go back today with a scissor and do this. Please fix your survey and add a third answer. I cannot say whether or not the locker was clean since I have not been able to see it as explained above. Forcing me to answer these questions with a yea or no is making me provide a negative answer when it might not be correct so I can finish this survey.robert c. | First Impressions
It was extremely difficult to check the truck back in, after having to fix settings in my web browser, I didn't realize I would have to take a picture of the odometer. Unfortunately, because it had taken me SO long just for it to confirm my location, we had cleared and locked up the truck, and dropped the key in the slot. That prevented me from being able to check the truck in and that added $30 to my bill. It was late, I was tired and I didn't read the small print on the key drop. Your agents should tell people in advance not to lock the truck until AFTER they have completed the online check-in process. I wrote down the mileage, I didn't know I would be required to submit a picture of it in order to check in. That was $30 I could have avoided paying. Gracias.Michelle G.

Make sure that what I reserve is actually there, I put a furniture dolly on reserve. When I got to the pick up site, they didn't have one. What? That almost cancelled the whole effort since it's hard to move without one. I ended up having to buy one on the spot to continue the planned move. The vehicle is so poor that it was having a bad noise while running. It took about 15 gallons for a 100 mile run. Returned the vehicle early fearing that it could run into trouble. The associates in the location sounded so careless and didn't bother to check on the issues I mentioned, defending the condition of the vehicle. U Haul Rental Review To paraphrase Shakespear, â€œOh U-haul, how I hate thee. Let me count the waysâ€¦â€ Allow me to explain. I have never in my many years experience of running businesses EVER found a business that angered everyone who walked through the door. I had a reservation to pick up a 10 foot truck at 9:00am Saturday morning. When we (myself and friends who where helping with the move) arrived, we were the fourth person in line to pick up our keys. Yet still it took an hour to make our way to the counter and to get the keys to the truck. It was abundantly clear that the employees at the rental counter have only one speed. Slow. There was not acknowledgement of the tremendously long delay, let alone any form of apology. Literally everyone in the store was angry about how long it took to process each rental. When I got to the counter, it took nearly 20 minutes to process our rental. This was largely due to the fact that our rental agent had not the slightest clue what he was doing. It was as if it was his first day on the job. A fact that I could forgive had there been some mention of that fact. Something like â€œHey, sorry it's my first day.â€ I could understand that. Everyone has a learning curve. Finally, the other rental agent after a multitude of questions relieved our â€œinexperienced agentâ€ and took over the check out process. Great! Right? Wrong. Well, the new guy wound up stopping every 10 seconds to help the original guy, leaving us waiting. The whole time, not one word was spoken to us other than â€œ I need your drivers' license.â€ Finally, we get our key to our truck. They keys are handed off to us with the instructions of â€œThe truck is out there somewhere, I don't know where, you will just have to go find it.â€ Grrrâ€¦ So off we go, now late to our appointment to find the truck. When we do, we find it parked so close to the car next to it, my skinny self could almost not get in. Ok, possibly not their fault, could be a customer whom lacks the ability to park their personal vehicle. However, we were so angry by the seemingly eternal wait, that it was just like salt in the wound. At the time, I blamed U-Haul. Maybe I should not. But in past rentals with U Haul the truck was always brought around front for pick up. Then we get in the truck and the visor is missing, the radio buttons don't not work and who knows what that smell wasâ€¦ As I start to pull out, light for the tire comes on. Now, even later for our appointment, I have to stop and put air in the tire. While I'm down on my knees putting air in YOUR tire, my friend goes inside to get some help with the tire and compressor. She is met with, â€œWell it's cold.â€ This has nothing to do with the tire light being on and it should have been checked before the vehicle was given to us! Low tire / flat tire = safety issue. One that clearly your staff did not care about. When my friend asked for the manager, the counter person said â€œI have no idea where he is.â€ Then proceeded to move on with what they were doing. We were late to our appointment due to the train wreck that was this check out process. Our appointment was to pick up a LARGE donation being given to the Non-Profit that I work for. The inexcusable delays by your rental counter and me having to put air in your tires myself caused the donor to miss his child's ballet recital. I mention this because it was clear to us and everyone in the storefront that the rental agents DID NOT CARE AT ALL about any form of customer service / nor the safety of the vehicle they were renting out. They need to understand that their actions sometimes have an impact on others. In this case they had a negative impact on a generous person who was trying to do good. They might not care about the his child's Ballet recital, but I guarantee that it was important to him. Finally, when we returned the truck, I parked it in the appropriate place and went inside to return the keys. The lady said just leave the keys in it and leave the window open. We will check it in later or tomorrow morning. Are you kidding me? Did she think I was going to leave the keys to the truck that I'm responsible for in an open vehicle? Overnight? Uhm, NO! I said to her that I would like her to just check it in now so I'm no longer responsible for the truck. She said â€œno, just leave the keys in it with the window open and we will get it later.â€ WHAT??? There was literally NOBODY in the store and she was sitting at the counter not doing anything!!! I insisted and she did in fact finally come out and check the vehicle back in and give me a receipt. Bottom line, this was such a miserable experience, I simply can't believe that the location is able to maintain any kind of repeat business. This rental experience was completely unsatisfactory and my intent is to share this story with anyone who will listen and share the review on any platform I am able to find that will list it. Maybe it will spur some action form U-Haul to address what is going on out there. Wow.MICHAEL T.

I was given a storage room that was already occupied! So when my movers went to move my items in the storage unit, they couldn't. The office was closed and their manager's 24 hour emergency number kept going to voicemail. Horrible experience ever! My only concern is that I went to the facility after reserving a non-air conditioned unit. When she asked me what did I want I said a non-air conditioned unit. The lady behind the counter then proceeded to give me what I now realize is an air conditioning unit. The items that I'm storing do not require air conditioning. She has therefore double the price of what I have to pay monthly which increases the chance that I might not be able to pay. I was trying to get a unit that I'm sure that I could afford every month. Why she decided to give me whatever unit she wanted confuses me. The reason I went to that facility is because I went to my U-Haul account first and checked locations where I can find a non-air conditioning unit on the first floor. I don't want to ride elevators so I wanted the first floor and I don't need air conditioning. The ad also said something about a month free which she first confirmed then later told me oh my manager says that only applies if you had a one-way U-Haul rental.Vincent B. | First Impressions

I requested a refund of a late fee in July. The location manager apparently issued a VIP certificate that I never learned about. I followed up with him 3 or 4 times without a response. He still hasn't responded to me. I had to email firstname.lastname@example.org to get it credited to my account. Lastly, I was told by an employee staffing the office front desk that we had to access our storage units during office hours even though the posted access hours are outside office hours!
