The truck and people where great. Could have been 5 star. But you sold me garbage tape that I bought to tape plastic around my coach so it would not get wet. All came off before I got to the end of my street. No impressed that my coach got wet. 6 dollar garbage tape that does not stick. Booked a space but did not have the size I booked online. No record of the online booking. Gave me a smaller unit than the one I booked. When I went to see it, it had not been vacated. Received a call with a different unit. Was the size I had originally booked. Was told they would not increase the first month payment I made for the smaller unit. Then I got an email saying I was late on my first month payment and was being fined. I didn't even have the storage unit yet and had paid when I booked the storage unit. Filthy truck. Vehicle was damaged. Someone else's Covid mask left in vehicle. UHaul lied about the level of fuel provided. When I called to complain to my said it was my fault. Disappointing. Reporting this to UHaul and the Nova Scotia ministry of healthM DANIEL R.
I had difficulty calling to make a reservation (1st attempt the call was blocked due to busy signal, 2nd attempt that call was answered after a 2-3 minute hold but I couldn't hear anyone speaking and then they hung up). I went to the website and after sifting through endless offers for upselling was able to secure a reservation. I was not aware that if I did not pick up the vehicle within 1 hour of that time that the reservation would be cancelled. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle I found that my reservation was cancelled and I had to settle for a different, larger, more expensive vehicle. An additional cleaning charge appeared on my final bill, I'm still waiting for a call from customer service to confirm that the cleaning charge is being waived from my invoice. The on site service was excellent. What is terrible is U-haul's web presence. Booking a truck for a simply delivery was bogged down by page after page of ads for insurance, boxes, equipment, manual labor, and storage. They wanted you to web "check in" the day before, which is unheard of and unnecessary for car rental (this is not an airplane ticket), and gave them the opportunity to bombard again with add-ons and insurance. Returning after hours required another web check in, which is convenient for most, but if you do not have a mobile device, you will be charged $20 "convenience fee" for a manual check in. Again, completely unheard of in the car rental industry, and pretty insulting. This location did not charge me this fee, so I am appreciative of that.Jeffrey C.

Process seemed much more complicated than when I rented the same type of vehicle the previous week. I had to answer the same questions I had done on line, repeat the credit card info, find you do not accept taps (which is very primitive), enter both a pin and a signature for the credit card, and much more. The previous time I should my driver's license, because the online computer entry failed to pass it on, but everything else was very simple. I also was very unhappy with the after hours dropoff. It forced me to change my phone settings to allow locating, which took half an hour because I had no idea how to do it and your online instructions were close to useless. It would not let me just enter the name of the dropoff site. There are far simpler ways to prove dropoff location (QR Code to be scanned at the dropoff key slot for example). I am very unimpressed with your self checkout procedure, and with the inconsistency of the checkin process.Stephen M.

When I went to do the online check-in, I noted the trailer I had booked had been changed to a smaller one. I contacted the number provided and they said it had been changed by someone in UHaul 2 days prior due to the equipment breaking down. I asked if another customer could be changed because I had two 11 foot kayaks I needed to put in the trailer and I would not be able to due to the new trailer being 10 feet long. The person I spoke to put in the request and when someone called me back, they said it wasn't possible. I was then given another number to call, which I did and they were able to find me the trailer I ordered but it was a three hour drive away in addition to the 2 hours it would take to get to the house we were moving out of. That wasn't feasible as I had limited time to move out of my house. As a result of using the small trailer, I had to make an additional trip to the storage locker, which was 2 extra hours of driving. It also meant I had to make an additional trip to the house (2 hours one way, four hours in total) to have the kayaks picked up and delivered to storage. So, overall this became a very complicated move when it could have been completely straightforward with the right size of the trailer; the one I rented initially. If someone would have advised me when they were changing the size of the trailer, I would have had time to reconsider the process or perhaps even rent with another company that had the right size trailer. Because I didn't find out until the day before, my choices were very limited and the move cost a lot more than was originally anticipated, both in terms of time and money as well as frustration. I was very disappointed to have my trailer canceled with no notification. It was very unprofessional.Joanne C.

Can only had 1\4 tank gas do we almost ran out on route. Crazy to have to pay gas and mileage, was not told about gas beforehand. We waited well over an hour to checkout, very chaotic .GLENN C.
Ensure the booking website has correct availability information. When a vehicle is booked at one location it should be honoured and either an appropriate vehicle is moved to the booking location or a credit is applied to the account it adjust mileage as appropriate. I was not impressed to book at the bluewater rd location and have my booking updated to the windmill rd location, resulting in my spending approximately an extra $30 +tax because your system was presenting incorrect information.Adam David M.

When I picked up the van I didn't receive the self check in link. I went back in and asked about it, and told them the truck wasn't full and showed the girl I was dealing with a picture of it, she told me it was fine and I was okay to leave. When I dropped the truck off, after hours unfortunately, and went through the self check out process it informed me that the gas didn't match. I received an emailed receipt, my bill went from, (rounded dollar amounts) $144 to $285. $144 is wildly ridiculous for a cargo van for 5 hours, but that's another issue. Reserving a truck, equipment and storage unit doesn't mean anything. The storage unit I reserved was not there for me nor was there any explanation when booking that it was first come first serve whether I reserved it or not. So was given a much smaller unit and a second unit of the same size free for only a month. No apology asked if when the size unit I reserved opened up if I could be contacted…. Doubt that will happen. Almost didn't get the right size truck because the one that was supposed to be mine was having mechanical issues. Thankfully they had an extra one. Reserved a furniture and appliance dolly and got neither. Was told they were all gone in the morning even though again I reserved both for the time I reserved the truck. It was bad enough 2 of the 3 things I needed from uhaul went completely wrong but then the staff really didn't seem to care and just wanted to finish the transaction and send you on your way didn't make the situation any better. Directions were not explained such as when you return the truck get one of the guys outside to do the check rather than come back in to the front desk and wait in line for 25 minutes before they tell you "oh just go outside and get one of the guys". I've used uhaul several times for my own moves and friends and family. An alarm blared every time I tried to open my locker, despite having confirmation it was ready and a tag on the door saying it was ready. When I contacted the front desk, I was treated rudely and told to come back in 2 days when they had a chance to fix the alarms. I said this was unacceptable because I'd already paid for the unit and driven with a van full of stuff to store. This went back and forth until someone else was put on the phone. Communication after your stuff is in storage is non-existent. I sent an email asking if I had set up auto pay correctly with no response. I was then charged a late fee. I decided to pay two months up front and then another (3rd) month's payment was taken off my credit card without me knowing. I've asked for confirmation that 3 months payments have been recieved and if I will not be charged agian until November or if I wil get a refund and guess what? No response. Just this survey/review. Not only did I call first the confirm that there was a storage unit the size that I needed, was still available, I reserved online a unit at the Dartmouth location. I selected my move in date and got an email confirming my unit was reserved. When I arrived on my move in date, the lady informed me that the unit was not available. Apparently reserving a unit online or even calling to reserve, doesn't confirm that you will actually have a unit available to you. Minutes after the lady told us about there not actually being a unit being reserved for us, her co-worker informed her that there was a unit that just opened up minutes ago. So the unit I selected was $159+ taxes and the unit that I am now paying for is over $200 a month with taxes and tenants insurance…. Not pleased at all with how Uhauls system works, it makes absolutely no sense. Reserved a 10 by 15 unit 3 weeks in advance than rented a 26' uhaul truck to move upon my arrival at the Dartmouth location was told my unit is no longer available and my reservation means nothing and it's first come first serve! It took weeks of planning to have people help with the move an expensive uhaul truck to move our things and then to show up and not have the reservation mean anything was absolutely unacceptable. When I asked to speak to a manager at around noon I was told she was in a meeting until 6. The gentleman at the desk called Halifax and Bedford locations but also not available not to mention I'm paying for the truck per kilometre. For a storage facility not back up a reservation a customer has made is unimaginable as we are counting on the unit to be available if reserved. In the end we did get a 10 by 20 unit but took over an hour to find. I'm not sure how long our things will be in this unit but I do know when I need another unit in the future and with the costs associated with moving I will certainly be looking for a company who can be trusted. First thing: i asked at the counter to book a truck for the next day and pick up in a town 80 kms away. I was booked for a week away and pick up in the city the office was in. I canceled that order, messaged the office and i was not contacted about the screw up. Second, when i got the truck a few days later, i rolled into the storage area and the alarm was going off. The security intercom system was utilized by me to notify the office next door. I was blamed for setting the alarm off. It was certainly not me.
