Truck has a fairly bad oil ? (Something) leak and made a mess everywhere it was parked.. Truck has a BAD shake over 60 mph so our highway speed of 110klms/hr was unattainable. People were great...truck not so much... anyway it got the job done.Tom C.

There was some difficulty returning the truck as the U Haul mobile App on android was not allowing me to upload any pictures. I eventually switched to using Google Chrome and was able to do it very smoothly.Matt A.

The inside location staff were great. The outside staff were not helpful and the trailer was in disrepair (wiring harness broken) but because there was no one there to help me even though there were two staff out in the yard watching me struggle for almost half hour (and it wasn't busy that day), I had to fix it myself and get on the road. My repair didn't keep and I returned the trailer after going 30 km with no working lights. On return, there was a much better experience from a young guy that wasn't outside during pick up. Basically my experience at this location is that you book and do everything on the app and then have to go inside and do it all over again and it takes time to wait when other locations are automated. At this location, the trailers aren't easy to access for self service and the lack of service on the lot is unmatched with the need to get help. I'd much rather self service locations as a result. When moving things there is always a time limit to the job. There is no excuse for the trailers to be in the disrepair I found this one inâ€¦especially for the location that is the regional supplier for hitch wiring. The only reason I used this location was because it was a Sunday and it was one of few open. I'd drive farther next time to avoid it.Wendy W.

This experience was honestly the best customer service I have ever experienced. I was very stressed and in the middle of a move and the one staff at Dartmouth was amazing, he went above and beyond to help me and was even there when I returned the car. I can't remember his name but he deserves a raise! Excellent employee and even better customer service will 200% utilize this location again even though further away from my new house and will recommend to friends just based on his customer service! It would be nice if the trucks are full when rented out, just like regular rentals. It is hard to fill up and match what the level was . Also, you may need to fill up more than once during the rental, which is not good when you are moving and don't have time.Kevin W.

Kim and her staff are great. Never have an issue. Windmill staff are wonderful. But if you'd like some honest feedback in relation to another location I'd be happy to provide it. I don't deal with the Bayer's lake location as a rule but I've had to go in there a few times recently because I've been working on a property close to there and needed supplies or a client has chosen them for storage. I have to say the thought of going in there stresses me out. The staff on the front line are the most unprofessional group of people, they talk over their customers, they cut off people and just walk away. They never excuse themselves if they have to walk away for a minute. They will leave a huge line up unattended with one staff struggling to take care of everyone. I feel training is lacking. Supervision is minimal. I have to say I've never ever seen the manager of this location. I had an issue the other day she wasn't around. I've never seen her working with her staff. Kim is always present and there if you need her which is exactly what a manager should be doing. The staff are struggling on the counter.PATRICIA MARY G.

However, the manager and another worker were screaming at eachother in the parking lot infront of customers and it was extremly uncomfortable to experience. Last night I moved-in to my storage unit but the experience was awful as my code is not working and the customer service is not too friendly/polite at all. Waited for an hour (8PM to 9PM) before I was able to get in as they are trying to figure out what to do. Since the phone conversation is recorded you ca review the phone conversation and you'll hear from it how the customer service lady responded to my problem. My review would have been excellent however I w\s very disappointed with the attitude of the "yard" staff. The gentleman behind the counter was super nice and very efficient!!! However when I got to the parking lot the man was very blunt and rude and essentially ignore me while I was standing there. When he finally acknowledged me he realized he grabbed the wrong trailer. He then started literally throwing trailers around...slamming them in the ground and skidding them along the pavement....even though he had a trailer jack right beside him that he could have been using. When he finally got the trailer I was looking for he told me to go get my vehicle. I told him I had a truck rented and noone had provided me with any keys yet. He then stomped off and retrieved my truck. He backed up the truck, hooked up the trailer took a couple pics of the safety chains then said "there you go". The customer service from him was very disappointing!! I would highly recommend the desk staff however I would be cautious returning to this location because of the "yard" staff (I didnt get his name), not to mention the way he was smashing the trailers on the ground and disrespecting the equipment that I was about to rely on for the day!!Mark F.

While the Windmill Road location was fine, this was not the original pickup location. At the original pickup location, a laundrymat on Bedford Highway, the 10ft truck I originally rented was double booked. I had to call and find a new truck at a different location. Unfortunately it was a bigger truck. I was promised a reduction in my rental of $60 and an additional, immediate $50 credit to my credit card. Neither of these things have happened yet. These delays put me 2 hours behind schedule. It is difficult to understand how I was originally provided a truck that was reserved for someone else.Judith M.
The online checkin and return site needs improvement. It is slow and frequently crashes. It would also be nice to provide a list of upfront of the photos needed to return the vehicle. We had to keep going back to the vehicle because the system wanted yet another photo. If you note up front the photos required, we wouldn't have had to keep going back for more. Frustrating when you're tired from moving things and just want to drop the vehicle off and leave.Angela M.

Picking up my truck took forever. Dropping it off was a nightmare. Nowhere to park the truck/trailer and it took 45 minutes to get your app to work so I could upload a picture and leave. Not happy with the experience whatsoever and I will never rent a truck from uhaul ever again.Matthew H.
Well I was pretty upset that I went to the location they told me to go to to pick up my truck using my mobile app and it wasn't there. I ended up having to drive another 10 km just to get the truck. I mentioned it to them when I got there and she wasn't sure what had happened but didn't really address it either. I really didn't have time to say anything because I was already late with my move because of this incident.Christina S.

I am moving and have purchased all my boxes and supplies from this location. Yesterday I rented a van to get rid of some junk. The lady asked me if I wanted insurance and I asked the price. She responded $15 so I said yes. They were a little busy so she handed me the keys and off we went. When we returned the man looked at us and said you didn't clean the van. I said to him we were not told we had to clean it. In the end they charged us $30 for insurance and another $20 extra to clean the van. Not great with customers service Elizabeth V.

Comment; recommendation. So, we wanted to haul a 6x12 trailer with our 2017 Subaru Forester 2.5, which the U-Haul website indicated could haul this trailer and up to 1500 lbs of load. We had 3500 lb trailer hitch bolted to automobile, 3500lb ball mount, and 5000lb ball. Both the U-Haul center manager, and the 15-year long-haul trucker looking at our 1.25 inch hitch and the Subaru, cautioned us against using the Subaru to pull the trailer. THEY WERE CORRECT! We did pull the empty trailer from the Center to our loading point, about 4 miles away, which was fine. We proceeded to load the trailer up to that (guesstimated) load and then I trialed hauling the trailer with the Subaru around five or six Halifax city blocks to gauge the effect. Ok. Not good. Drove the trailer with the Subaru for 4-5 miles to our hotel from loading point and were NOT confident that the Subaru would survive the pull over 460 miles from Halifax to Maine. Just like the folks at the U-Haul center were telegraphing to my son and I, when we picked up the trailer. SO, we also added a 10 foot truck rental from another U-Haul affiliate and loaded both of them up with ALL of my son's apartment possessions and drove to Maine. The 6x12 trailer, loaded, helped the 10ft truck, loaded, drive better, IMO. When we arrived in Brewer, Maine, we loaded more of my son's gear, which he'd stored at our house. BOTH full to the brim. These two units finished delivering his worldly belonging competently, over our 1200 miles of travels - 600 driving the truck and trailer. So - DO TELL those folks at this UHaul center that they made GOOD suggestions when they were NEEDED and then let us 'simmer' with that information, as we loaded. I'm glad they spoke up to us ALSO, can you please REMOVE the 2017 Subaru Forester 2.5 as a possible hauler of your 6x12 ft trailer?! It CANNOT, without destroying the vehicle. PLEASE alert these folks at the UHaul Center that they DID GOOD warning us, without preventing us.James D.

Make sure that you give the family renting the uhaul enough mileage cause we got charged 15 dollars extra for miles but we only drove from house to house and back to drop off. And still got charged over and we brought the uhaul 2 days earlymario C.

The check in process was slow and made completing the online reservation pointless. They asked for all the same info and ended up missing that I requested a trolley. Seals on the van doors were worn out and made the drive extremely noisy on the highway.Craig M.

Overall a great experience. The only thing I would say is there should be signage at the street entrance to indicate that it is a one-way entry and exit to the parking lot. There are only arrows on the pavement which is difficult to see when customers are driving on or parked on the arrows.David B.

May or may not recommend, uncertain. First time I used this location, it was 24hr access. 7 days a week. This time around, the location wasn't accessible like it had been. However, it also wasn't the same physical building. When I ask for a larger unit, it was suggested there were a couple coming up, and in the meantime if a smaller unit would be ok, I could get the larger unit at a later date. Been several years. Never happened, even though units directly across from mine were emptied twice that I'm aware of. Incidentally, I was offered a second smaller unit. Not useful. Not what was suggested. I'm glad I'm no longer a tenant. One, all of my items are in one unit now. For less than the 5'×10' unit I had. And I'm that much closer to no longer needing a storage unit that's not on my property.Jason H. | Overall Experience

One thing that I'm not satisfied with is the free month storage that you are allowed to have according to the website and actually, you cannot have it. I rent a Uhaul Van (Contract #27797743) going to Quebec (2500Km in total) and back in Halifax. Sadly, I've been told that I wasn't eligible because I took the truck in Halifax and return it to Halifax. On your website, it is said that I had 2 yrs to claim a month free of storage. This is the part that I will not recommend to friends if they will do the same procedures as me. Meaning, rent a truck UHaul, to a place drive that many KM, and back. Very disappointing. I hope you will reconsider to allowed us to have one month free especially since I will be using your storage for 6 to 18 months in total. Not impressed with how the facility is managed at all. Also the decision to extract my credit card info from past transactions in order to illegally attempt to make a charge due to late payment was very illegal. That's what you call sketchy business practice. For that I'll never say anything good about uhaul. If that transaction had gone through, we would be going to court over the matter. I reserved an 8 X 8 X X 8 unit on December 30th and got a confirmation. When I went to the location the next day to show my insurance policy, the unit was gone. Did you know it's was on a first come, first served policy even though I had a reservation number specify I had an 8 X 8 X 8 unit reserved. What does "Reserved" mean to them??? At the Uhaul on Windmill I unfortunately was reluctantly served by the lady who obviously hates her job and would rather be doing anything than helping customers. She had me waiting and waiting while she was putting stock on shelves. As slow as she possibly could. After about 10 minutes she finally served me. She provided me with my facility directions and map and hours. I asked how do I get in? She told me to drive through the door. I sat in front of the door waiting for it to open… nothing… went back inside again and thankfully the other gentleman who obviously loves his job and serving customers showed me how to open the garage and apologized that someone had turned it off. I get to my storage locker and it's sealed shut. I go back in again and ask her how to I break the seal to access my locker. She rolls her eyes at me, saunters over to the display locker and mockingly rolls up the locker door to show me how to get in. At this point I'm furious. Booked a space but did not have the size I booked online. No record of the online booking. Gave me a smaller unit than the one I booked. When I went to see it, it had not been vacated. Received a call with a different unit. Was the size I had originally booked. Was told they would not increase the first month payment I made for the smaller unit. Reserving a truck, equipment and storage unit doesn't mean anything. The storage unit I reserved was not there for me nor was there any explanation when booking that it was first come first serve whether I reserved it or not. So was given a much smaller unit and a second unit of the same size free for only a month. No apology asked if when the size unit I reserved opened up if I could be contacted…. Doubt that will happen. Almost didn't get the right size truck because the one that was supposed to be mine was having mechanical issues. Thankfully they had an extra one. Reserved a furniture and appliance dolly and got neither. Was told they were all gone in the morning even though again I reserved both for the time I reserved the truck. It was bad enough 2 of the 3 things I needed from uhaul went completely wrong but then the staff really didn't seem to care and just wanted to finish the transaction and send you on your way didn't make the situation any better. Directions were not explained such as when you return the truck get one of the guys outside to do the check rather than come back in to the front desk and wait in line for 25 minutes before they tell you "oh just go outside and get one of the guys". I've used uhaul several times for my own moves and friends and family. An alarm blared every time I tried to open my locker, despite having confirmation it was ready and a tag on the door saying it was ready. When I contacted the front desk, I was treated rudely and told to come back in 2 days when they had a chance to fix the alarms. I said this was unacceptable because I'd already paid for the unit and driven with a van full of stuff to store. This went back and forth until someone else was put on the phone. Communication after your stuff is in storage is non-existent. I sent an email asking if I had set up auto pay correctly with no response. I was then charged a late fee. I decided to pay two months up front and then another (3rd) month's payment was taken off my credit card without me knowing. I've asked for confirmation that 3 months payments have been recieved and if I will not be charged agian until November or if I wil get a refund and guess what? No response. Just this survey/review. Not only did I call first the confirm that there was a storage unit the size that I needed, was still available, I reserved online a unit at the Dartmouth location. I selected my move in date and got an email confirming my unit was reserved. When I arrived on my move in date, the lady informed me that the unit was not available. Apparently reserving a unit online or even calling to reserve, doesn't confirm that you will actually have a unit available to you. Minutes after the lady told us about there not actually being a unit being reserved for us, her co-worker informed her that there was a unit that just opened up minutes ago. So the unit I selected was $159+ taxes and the unit that I am now paying for is over $200 a month with taxes and tenants insurance…. Not pleased at all with how Uhauls system works, it makes absolutely no sense. The lady at the office was very helpful and sweet with us but I will not be renting a unit from uhaul in the future.Olivia M. | First Impressions

The security system kept going off whenever I was there, went to front desk and they gave me anew card as they weren't sure what was going on. Lights only worked half the time I went in. When I booked the storage unit there was a huge mess up. was told I had a truck and storage unit booked with first month rent free, went in and was told I didn't as nothing was marked down. Got the truck and told me to go back in when I had my stuff to book a unit as they couldn't right then, which I found weird, they also told me one would be available when I got there. Once I had my stuff went in they told me they only had biggest unit available so I went with it cause what was I going to do with my stuff. Meanwhile I didn't get the first month free as they put the truck under my name and storage under my mom. I brought it up to there attention and it kept getting put off like it was nothing and they couldn't do anything. I was in a domestic dispute and had to get my things out of the house and going through alot at the time so I gave up. BUT AM NOT AND WAS NOT IMPRESSED THAT DAY. I moved my things into a storage unit during a small snow storm. Everyone else cancelled their services at Uhaul, as I was told by an employee there that morning, but I decided to go ahead and get my move done. The area in front of my storage unit was iced and not salted and poorly lit. As a result, my driver slipped, broke his ankle in 2 places, and had to go to the hospital. After returning inside the office, I mentioned the incident to the employees none of whom expressed any concern about the matter. Staff at the facility were excellent - however, the call center misled me to believe that I had reserved a unit (they took my credit card number) when no real reservation had been made. This could have been a very big deal if I had not shown up on site to get the layout - and got the last unit available. Call center needs to be specific that the reservation is not firm until checking in at the site. And if not firm, why do they need credit card info over the phone? No notice of a circular lock needing to be purchased in order to "prevent theft" until we arrived to move into the unit. This should be included in the price of the unit if there is a known issue. The lock sold on site is garbage and we threw it out after we moved out as it was difficult to open. Bagged clothing and baby items became moldy; had to throw out a lot of it. Smell of urine near our unit, like someone had been peeing on the wall frequently. Was told when I spoke to someone to discontinue my unit that I would receive a call back stating whether or not I need to return my access card - no call back to date. Staff on the phone and inside the branch were very helpful and well spoken. The service was poor when we had to go into the office, (online instructions didn't match the instructions from the facility itself), person behind counter wasn't wearing their mask properly (in middle of pandemic), basically told me I was a liar, and his instructions didn't work to allow me into my unit either. There's poison rodent traps in the units no one tells you about until you find it, which I think those traps are inhumane and I requested it to be moved. Was told they would remove it, I wait another almost 24 hours before going back to put the lock on the unit to still find trap inside. Was cut off by person speaking to me on to me on the phone while trying to sort out issues to the point I just stopped trying, and let them say whatever they needed too and ended the call without being properly happy about anything. The one good thing they did was give me a month free for all the issues, a ten minute set up turned into 3 days of super stress and confusion that couldn't of easily been avoided, the 1 month free feels insufficient and lazy on behalf of the company. 10/10 will never uhaul for anything again.Kerra N. | Online Move In
