This is my local store. I've been having problems with my booking for over a month! I picked it up up northâ€¦ paid In full and then this guy at the return location told me I'm paying for more when I returned a day early!!!! He told me â€œit's his job to collect this money to unhook my trailerâ€ the line was out the door. But I promise usual will be reimbursing me for the last 6 weeks of bullshit! I had an appointment to pick up a cargo van at 12. My husband and I arrived and there was a line with 3 people waiting. There was one man working with the customers. Other UHaul employees would walk in and out, but there was still only 1 person dealing with the customers. As we waited, more people came in and waited in line. After about 20 minutes, we were the next in line and another man came in to help at the computer. The first employee told my husband that he couldn't help us because he was going to lunch. Great! Another employee must have come in to work or come back from lunch and he helped us get our rental. We were staying in town and only needed to go less than 20 miles. The van was nice and worked well for what we needed.Terry D.
45 minutes in line with a reservation. 25 minutes to get my U-Haul. My truck was behind a parked truck. Could not get around. Asked a worked for help â€˜ he said he was too busy and that truck would be rented shortly. Crumbs on the passenger seat. Steering wheel was sticky. Had no time to complain. I moved from California to Georgia and utilized 2 u-haul boxes thinking they would be a safe and efficient way to move my belongings across the country. I was wrong. #1: The system did not have my correct destination address - the address I entered when I set up the reservation for the boxes somehow changed to an address on the complete opposite side of town. I could not fix it online and instead had to call customer service to get it changed. The first time they supposedly corrected it, but it did not reflect the correct address online. The second call finally fixed the issue. #2: I was notified 3 days after my movers returned the 2 boxes and equipment that I had missing equipment. I'm moving across the country, and am already dealing with a lot of moving parts and stress, and then I find out from U-haul that all of my belongings are now missing and I'm also going to have to pay you the replacement cost of the U-haul box and the car dolly the movers used. This is not good. I sit on hold all morning with the movers and with U-haul and was transferred to several departments all to find out the U-haul location hadn't scanned my boxes yet. THANKS. Because of your lazy staff and your terrible customer service system that leads you down a rabbit hole, I've lost several years of my life from the fear that all of my possessions and family heirlooms are gone. DON'T have your system automatically notify your customers of missing equipment when you don't have staff scanning in equipment properly in the first place. #3: When it was time to finally get our boxes delivered to our destination address, I was called the day before our delivery date to confirm that 12pm would be acceptable for us to receive the boxes. I was excited that U-haul seemed to be on-time and was prudently checking that the delivery time would work for us. On the day of delivery, we wondered where our boxes were at 3pm (remember how the deliver time was supposed to be 12pm?). Since the boxes were at least 3 hours late at that point, I got on the phone with customer serviceâ€¦ 4 times. Call #1: On hold for 7 mins 20 sec My status: Irritated Customer service rep answered phone. I asked where my boxes were and why they were late. They were going to transfer me to the â€œrightâ€ department, but then you disconnected when they transferred me. Call #2: On hold for 11 mins 14 sec My status: Very Irritated Customer service rep answered phone. I asked where my boxes were and why they were late. Customer service rep transferred me to the â€œrightâ€ department. When the person at the next department answered, they asked for my name and location number. Apparently this was not a customer line. This person then transferred me back to the regular customer service lineâ€¦ to WAIT ALL OVER AGAIN. I hung up to look for another number to call for the Woodstock location. Call #3: On hold for 38 mins 26 sec My status: Livid Customer service rep answered phone. I asked where my boxes were and why they were late. They were going to transfer me to the â€œrightâ€ department, but then you disconnected when they transferred me AGAIN. Fortunately, this most recent customer service rep had the decency to give me a direct phone line to whatever department/location he was trying to transfer me to. Call #4: No hold time (good for you, you got something right) My status: Done with U-haul forever and looking forward to giving them a piece of my mind Someone answered. And the best she could do for me was say, â€œI can't check on where your boxes are, but I can tell you that you may get them by 8:30pm tonightâ€â€¦ that's it? Really? I might get them today? I've wasted time. We've just moved here. I have s*** to do. I've been here all day because your people told me they'd be here at noon. The boxes arrived a day late, and I did not get a notification when they would be arriving, so I could not prepare between work meetings to let the person know where to put the boxes. I put this information on my account online, but apparently it is not frequently referred to by your employees. I had to break away from an important work meeting to make sure the boxes were placed in the right spot. After all of the stress your company has put me through, the lack of organization, the lack of understanding for the customer, and the Mr. Toad's Wild Ride JOKE of a phone line I am done using your company for anything in the future. I have already told people never to use you, and will continue to do so. I moved across the country and didn't expect to run into so many issues with U-haul. I work in customer experience - One mistake is fine and likely forgivable, but having a problem with EVERY SINGLE step and interaction I've had with your company during this move is UNACCEPTABLE. This was absolutely not worth the $3k we spent on these boxes for the move.Rachel F.

When we returned home they promised us 1 month free storage and nothing was available they moved us from Westminster to Costa Mesa and never found us a storage unit. We were on hold for hours trying to figure it out. I will never use them ore recommend anyone there or to Uhaul ever!mark B.

I arrived at 8:50 am for a 9 am pickup. Checkin and paperwork was dismal and slow. By the time we drove out, it was 9:50 am. Customer service rep was rude and arrogant. I run a &5 billion company and treated me like I was 5. Truck was filthy and gas on empty. I've traveled the works and never been given a car on complete empty. Then went to 3 gas stations to fill it all with the same issue. Gas tank only allowed a quarter gallon and would stop. We eventually filled it with a gas can we purchased as we were on a time frame At 3:30 we received a call asking where we were. We had said we would try to be back by 3pm but with an almost 1 hour delay leaving your facility and another 1 hour delay trying to fill this van with gasoline we were way behind. Again your rep was rude and condescending especially after we told him we'd called at 11 saying this van can't be rented again until it's repaired and we would be late. He was an arrogant rude pig. I hung up on him as we were were driving and your vehicles do not provide hands free. Upon rushing to get back, we waited 15 mi used fir someone to check us in. Mind you, no one was ahead of us. If I ran my business this way, I'd be bankrupt. I've rented vehicles from Uhaul on many occasions and from this location. What an absolute disgrace this was.BRADLEY C.

Make sure the back of the UHAUL isn't locked or check to see if there's a key on the keychain. I had to drive back, waste my time, and only get a couple dollars off.LISA L.

I've been coming here for my business trailer needs for 7 years running and I've always had a high grade of service from the mgr on down. TODAY was not one of those days. The First major fail was an associate at the counter named ANONA who was talking way too fast to even clearly understand and as she was taking care of my already pre-checked in check in, she calls my emergency contact, which is my SISTER, AN ATTORNEY on speakerphone with NO WARNING to me as I would not have allowed it as my contact was in a telephone and virtual meeting in court as she is an attorney. MY SISTER surprisingly picked up to answer ANONA'S unexpected call to verify my emergency contact, but I told her this was ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. ANONA NEVER notified me to let me know she WAS CALLING MY EMERGENCY CONTACT as I would've used another contact who wasn't busy for immediate verification. Keep in mind UHAULS NEW POLICY AS OF 5 WEEKS AGO PER ANONA, STATES no trailer can be rented without verbal confirmation with emergency contact so I was very fortunate my sister was available, and very poor communication from uhaul associate ANONA. THEN UPON RETURN OF TRAILER LATER IN DAY A MUCH QUIETER AND LESS BUSY LOT FOR ME TO DROP OFF TRAILER. I WAITED AT DROP OFF AREA FOR A FEW MINUTES WITH NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FROM ANY UHAUL REPRESENTATIVE, AND FINALLY I HONKED MY HORN A FEW TIMES JUST IN CASE THEY COULDNT SEE ME WAITING ON THE CAMERAS. AFTER A FEW MORE MINUTES OF NO ACKNOWLEDGEMENT , I GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE TO GO LOOK FOR A REPRESENTATIVE. FINALLY A HEAVYSET GENTLEMAN SLOWLY STARTS WALKING BACK TOWARDS MY DROP OFF AREA TRAILER and it is the MGR. JONATHAN. SHOCKINGLY THE FIRST WIRDS OUT OF HIS MOUTH WERE " ARENT WE A LITTLE IMPATIENT TODAY", INSTEAD OF APOLOGIZING TO ME ABOUT THE LENGTHY WAIT, HE CHOOSES TO DISRESPECT ME WITH HIS POOR CHOICE OF WORDS AND ATTITUDE!! WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE TODAY BY FAR AND IF I CAN RATE IT NEGATIVE 1 TRILLION THATS WHAT IT WOULD GRADE OUT AT. ABSOLUTELY ASTOUNDING HOW UNPROFESSIONAL JONATHAN WAS WITH HIS CHOICE OF WORDS AND POOR COMMUNICATION AND SERVICE ALL THE WAY AROUND. VERY SAD DAY FOR THIS UHAUL LOCATION.Tim J.

I don't know what happened i just know that someone in corporate better start paying attention to the weird truck pickup and drop off places when it wasn't the place of drop off in contract because your towing company you use which i believe my brother said was haddicks had taken the uhaul from a place that called uhual to see who truck it was.had they known it belongs to me they wouldn't have been calling you.anyway I had seizure went to hospital totally forgot about the truck and it was towed by your towing company and when brother found it was on truck he said wait i can explain just give me a minute the driver driving away while brother was on driver step so that he can be heard so that was dangerous but ubtowed the uhaul without any notice to me or my emergency contact with what was going on that was very wrong and im concerned with the way some of your management handles customers as well so if that isn't reason to be upset I got some more reasons but can I get my car key back you can have all the property in the back I just need my seizure medication back .I been asking since few days after the unknown tow thanksJASON R.

The person helping me want the nicest person and this new phone verification you stated before renting the equipment is just ridiculous. I rented a trailer in the middle of the day on a weekday when all my family and friends are working so I'm standing there for 20 minutes trying to get ahold of someone when there's someplace I needed to be with the trailer. Excellent service which is a breath of fresh air these days, and especially when a person is in the middle of a move. This staff was amazing from the person who made a van suggestion, and checked me in to the people who were there at the end of a long day to check the van back in. They didn't let the people or the day diminish their level of service and to that they deserve recognition. Front desk staff were very friendly and handled some difficult clients while I was there with grace. Truck was dirty on exterior but that wasn't a big deal. The main issue is the truck's transmission struggled to shift effectively and would run at extended periods of time at 3500+ RPM's. I think that truck will have issues soon. It also used a huge amount of gas as a result. Fuel was also not correctly marked and was off an 1/8th but not a big deal in the grand scheme. I'll be back. Thank you .MICHAEL O.

I am very upset. When I returned my rental the next day way before it was due back. I was told when I returned it I didnt need to do anything. They would email me a receipt. I thought that was strange considering usually I would need to confirm no damage was done and that I infact did return it with the same amount of fuel as when I picked it up. I just got my receipt email and was very upset to find out i was over charged by $30.29. They had charged me for a extra day and 2 gallons of fuel which i had put more then enough gas at a gas station across the street from the uhaul right before i had returned it.I am on a long wait on the phone right now trying to talk to someone to correct this overcharge.I think they way you now run things is a very bad way because the customer has already returned the rental and can not dispute alligations which your emplyees are overcharging for. So then I had to waste my time and gas to go down to the Costa Mesa location to try to resolve this matter.I will never ever rent from uhaul or recommend uhaul to anyone i know.JENNIFER H.
The box was locked and I didn't know this until I got it to my house. I drove back to the store (8 miles) and they had trouble identifying the lock. Finally got the key and unlocked the box. The gas guage was inaccurate. My contract noted almost full when it was actually at 3/4. I drove a total of 21 miles and put 4 gals into the tank and the guage didn't move. I told the store this and they said it would be taken care of. I got a copy of the final bill and it showed the store added 4 gals and charged me for it. So, 21 miles took 8 gals of gas!! I don't think so. I will look elsewhere to rent trucks in the future and will tell anyone who needs a rental that U Haul is not trustworthy.MITCHELL K.

Worst experience! I made my reservation at Fairview location and was redirected to Newport blvd location which was fine but the wait time was 30min in line due to the staff not arriving til 11am over 12 people in line only 2 station open and no online reservation express lines. The truck has gear slipping and was shifting properly the dolly was broken and very miniature old made for a 5 ft person I'm 6â€4 and found it useless. I also have pictures and video of the trucks and full tank fuel in return of the truck and still was charged $28 for 5 gallon they truck didn't need I have my proof and picture. The worst Yelp reviews to follow this location I never wanted to be at. Staff very unprofessional joking with each other while 12 people in line. When returning the truck I was pull out of line and told to drive the truck up when multiple trucks was ahead of me in returning. I was told to drive up when he could of just asked for the keys. There were several issues that occurred - 1) the truck was not available as reserved 2) I was not notified of the problem in advance 3) I planned to hire (and did hire) movers on that specific day assuming the truck would be available 4) the location offered me a smaller truck (best that could be done under the circumstances) and after I pointed it out they also refunded me the courtesy $50 for the problem. For those last two things, I am grateful. However on balance this location's employees have a very negative attitude when I show up (I used to be one of this location's top customers); no one says "sorry" or "thank you for your business" or any other basic courtesy. Therefore I go out of my way to patronize other locations in the area, as it's just less miserable doing business with UHaul that way.REBEL E.

Nice customer service, but definitely appeared to need more staffing. Delayed service on the pick up and on return. Again, friendly customer service, they need more support on both the check out of the rental and on return. The truck was clean. I also observed the non-uhaul workers On the sidewalk who were looking for work a bit aggressive toward people coming on site to rent. They should not be soliciting for work on the property.
