I tried to go to Hamilton load and come back within 5 hours to unload when usually you can get 24 hours with a truck as he every time they rat a truck for 5 hours they're making more money on the truck and hes stuck and I got into serious medical condition and with no help I struggled I talked to an employee he wrote an email it disappeared and because the truck got locked inside the loading area I got double charge so I would highly never recommend to recommend to use u-haul storage or trucks because They're very fast charging you a lot more They will not refund me the 2nd day of rental plus Brett told plus I brought it back on the same mark plus a bit on the fuel but they charge me fuel tooKENDRA B.
Need to advise customers not to leave four way flashers on moving trucks for extended periods (2+ hrs). I left flashers on while loading the truck, and then it wouldn't start. Had to wait over an hour to get a boost.JOSEPH P.

This is actually our second unit as we are planning to move out of the province. We already referred my brother and sister-in-law and they also got a unit for the same purpose. While obtaining the second unit the staff was super friendly super helpful and went way above and beyond. I was charged for 1 dolly and furniture pads that I never recieved. When I came in to pick up the truck they went through the items I had inquired about. I was then hand the keys and was told everything was ready and I was good to go. I took their word for it. I assumed uhaul was a professional service. I started the truck up and drove it home. It was there I noticed the dolly and the furniture pads were not in the truck as I was told. When I called uhaul to discuss the matter I was told it was my problem and not theirs because I didn't look before taking the truck off the property. This is absolutely absurd. I would never recommend uhaul to anyone. I will likely be using Discount next time I need a truck.Sean C.
The Uhaul storage facility was fine and convenient. The problem is the one of the two sisters you have working at front desk. The fat girl is manipulative and dishonest. She is not the right person for that job. I can see she's just pretending to like people to get the day done with for a paycheck. She is a liar and I would not recommend uhaul just because of her. I dont know her name and I don't care to. If i had to use uhaul services as a last option i would let someoneelse do it for me. Just so I dont have to see her lying and conniving face!!! Very disappointed with the information when booking our storage unit and truck. Rep 1st neglected to book the truck. I had to call and speaj w/different locations, who eventually accommodated me. 2nd, when picking up the truck and confirming storage unit. same rep went over quickly the directions to the storage until upon return. Didn't give me the step by step sheet for after hours. 3rd at time of dropping of storage contents couldn't get into storage facility. Called the after hours # and the rep said we had to wait until the location was open the next day, instead of giving me instructions to get into the storage facility, wasting our time, driving the truck home, which cost more. The next day location wouldn't cover the cost of the extra mileage and in process of disputing extra monies paid. It took me 1hr and 10 minutes to rent a trailer. The employee first rented me a trailer that wasn't even on site. Then he wanted to charge me double for the second one because it was a one way trailer. Then i told him I would bring it back he had to cancell and invoice me again for a 3rd time also he must have scanned my licence 20 times because it would work. Totally terrible service, never again will I go to Vine st location.Paul C.

Day one I asked for the manager to contact me, and waited 22 days for them. Finally moved out and got a storage unit with the competition. The first 10 days of my rental, my unit couldn't be secured properly due to poor unit upkeep. I reserved a 26' truck that was guaranteed for the day I needed. 2 days before I was told I couldn't get that truck and was offered a 20' instead and that had to be picked up 20 minutes away. I was charged for the 26' truck and givin a $50 discount because the truck I had reserved wasn't available. Why am I able to reserve a truck that is guaranteed to be there when I need it only to have someone call 2 days before I'm moving out of town to say it's not available anymore. I didn't need that extra stress and won't be renting from uhaul again.Eric B.

During my initial sign in of my storage unit, I asked about my lock for the unit. The counter agent advised that I did not have a lock. I was confused because I was under the impression that my unit came with a lock. So, I purchased a lock but when I opened my unit, a lock was in the unit! I went back to the counter, and the agent says "Oh sorry, it's not on your invoice so that's your lock now!" She would not refund me for the lock. Uhual, if a lock is included in the unit, it should be indicated on the invoice, whether it is free or paid for. When I went to return the truck rental on Welland Ave, the Gentleman there called to straighten it out, yet he advised for me to go back to Vine St because it is part of their inventory. He says "Well, you need to go return the lock to Vine Street, even if it's complimentary because you purchased a new lock". Why would I return a lock that came with my unit? Just to give it back to Uhaul for them to sell? Completely unorganized and I should have been refunded for the cost of the lock.Janey L. | First Impressions

Once again going back to understanding the needs of the customer and using some common sense. The one way trip with the truck I had was for 5 days and 1650 miles. I had originally scheduled for the truck to be returned by 10:30am on a particular day. However, when doing a long distance drive, one should expect some hiccups and delays along the way (and I am not even going to go into the Uhaul storage reservation cancellations without call or email notification). In any event, I was called at 12:30 that same day and told that the truck needed to be back as it was needed for another reservation. When I explained the situation and that we needed more time (because of Uhaul itself, not the trip) and were fine to pay the extra day/charges, I received a cold response from the person on the phone and told the truck had to be back the same day. I'm sorry, but can you not source another 26' truck from another location instead of relying on one truck when there were clearly many at this location. In any event, the experience left me a little sour (especially after receiving a less than adequate truck for a long distance move). It should be noted that I ended up getting storage at another company location (not Uhaul), and returned returned the truck on the same day it was supposed to be back (albeit late) and incurred the extra charges as expected, and in time for you to rent it out to someone else the next day. I did my part, no thanks to uhaul for adding the additional pressure/stress and a less than palatable customer experience at this location. I am definitely going to think twice about using Uhaul for a long distance move again, and especially using this location as a drop off point.Peter L.

The people were very nice and respectful but my issue is my vehicle must not of been inspected prior because the steering was on a 45 degree angle to drive straight and over 70km the shaking in the steering wheel was severe just like when tires are not balanced and I'm a mechanic and I would never let a vehicle leave like that unsafe especially when on highway for 4 hours and when I called customer service I was offered no help at all was told to call road side and was hung up onRAMSEN O.

The associates at this location were excellent to deal with. This was my second rental within 3 days. Both times the computer system was horrible making it overly time consuming checking in, picking up and returning the van rental. The second Van I rented was very hard on gas causing me to assume there was something not right. Maybe a tune up? Also I did try to change the time for pickup and drop off for the first rental online but it wouldn't let me change it. All in all I had a better experience dealing with the eople at the location rather than the Computer System that U-Haul uses.Sylvia H.

In general call centre had me down to pick up in Fort Erie and drop off at Catharines. Why would I drive 40 Kim's to pick up truck? After 1/2 hour long conversation. With vine st location gave my cc again and was assured it would be ready Monday morning at vine for pick up. Arrived at 8:30 am and reservation was not found only the Fort Erie one that said one way drop off at Catharines. After finally getting set was asked for a second person to contact for verification after giving my license and credit card AGAIN they had to verify that I was who I was. The service desk employee was actually not someone I would want to interact with again. She would avoid answering simple questions directly and did not provide proper details on the cost to rent the van and instructions on what constitutes damage on the vehicle so we know what to look for during our inspection. There was no other customers in the store and we were pretty surprised with her attitude. It seemed like she do not like her job. The store itself was the best Uhaul store I have been to but our interaction with the check-in attendant was pretty bad. Check-out was great however but with another site employee!JANINE M.

Customer service was atrocious upon arrival to pick up equipment the CSR agent was busy going through her personal phone and deleting photos. I spoke up after waiting a few minutes and let them know I was there to pick up my reserved trailer at previously requested time as it was my break time from work. The CSR agent Jenna replied I will be with you in a minute. After about 5 minutes she finally decided to help me. The trailer seemed to be in good condition when I received it at 11am but by about 6 pm the left side tire was low on air. I had to go to a gas station and add air 3 times during my rental period as there was a slow leak. I was to return the trailer at 1130 am however I no longer needed it so I returned it at 730 am I assumed they were open but upon arriving there open sign was not on and it looked dark. So I returned the trailer to the spot where I picked it up. Around 11 I got a call from CSR Jenna very very rudely â€œWhen are you bringing back our trailer we want it back nowâ€ I informed her that it was already returned. She just continued to be argumentative and unapologetic about the trailer being returned and that someone needed to come into the office and tell them it was returned. I asked to speak to her manger about it and was told that she was the manager. To say the least this was the worst experience ever and for the following reasons I will never rent there again 1 Poor customer service 2 Faulty and Dangerous EquipmentGillian S.
I was actually really disappointed with everything I experienced yesterday. The doors of the unit I was given don't close properly so anyone walking by can not only see into my unit but put their whole arm through the crack in the door. That's not private or secure. I asked the staff to put in a service request to fix it and hopefully that happens quickly because my plans to move anything in there are delayed until it does. The biggest concern anyone has about using storage lockers is security. You can't afford to neglect that, ever. I got the other items I ordered with my unit, those items were in good shape. I have no complaints about those items I received. But I do have complaints about the way the facility is maintained. I had to wheel this cart over rough terrain in the broken parking lot, then over grass, then through another area of broken pavement, fighting to keep the cart from tipping over and all my stuff falling on the wet ground. There's a homeless camp right at the side entrance and while I empathize with their situation, the idea of going there at night makes me feel really uncomfortable. There's no staff in the warehouse and no direct line to reach them in the store if you have questions. Also, the unit I got had a rat trap in it which made me feel like I need to use plastic storage containers over cardboard. There was nothing else in it but nothing in the storage warehouse is clean. The floors need to be redone, there's tripping hazards everywhere. The units are dimly lit and There's no where you can run an Extension cord so you can see what you're doing in your unit without leaving the door open to let hallway light in. Again, not very private or secure. The bathrooms were clean atleast. I spoke to the staff about my issue with the door and atleast they offered to refund my payment for the month until my door can be replaced with something that's actually secure. I left there feeling like the people in charge of running this facility just simply don't care about the customer experience. I had my belongings stored there for 11 months. - When I arrived to move in, the unit which I had reserved had been given to someoe else. I ended up having to store my things in two separate lockers. My insurance had been applied to only one of them and I had to purchase a second lock. - At the beginning of this period, there were several mistakes made on my bill. I had to call to discuss these mistakes numerous times. The phone hold time was very long and each time I invariably ended up speaking to someone in Arizona. Each time I was told that I had to speak to directly to someone at the location. The locaton is filthy. - There is debris falling from the ceiling. My belongings were covered with tiny pebbles of something. When I was moving out, it was impossible to keep this debris out of my eyes. It is a very old building. I do not know what that material was but it could very well have been a poisonous subsance which was used in construction many years ago. - The floor inside my units was not level. It was impossible to safely stack boxes. The rows of boxes toppled down because there wss no level ground. - The floor inside my units were rough, dusty, and full of pot holes. Furniture and other items were damaged due to this. Some things are too heavy to lift. They must be pushed. It was impossible to move anything around without it catching on a pothole. I had to try to lift heavy items to get them dislodged from the pot holes. - The freight elevator system is the worst I have ever experienced. When I described it to a woman at the call centre in Arizona, she couldn't believe it. A person who is moving without assistance has to send items down, then run downstairs to catch it at the bottom. - There is no loading dock. Most places have a loading dock so that heavy furniture can be transfered to a truck without having to pick it up from the ground. This is very bad for human backs and can cause much damage. Both storage companies which I have used in the past not only had loading docks but they had covered/interior loading docks to protect against rain and snow. Here, your stuff goes down the elevator and straight into the rain. I have used two other public storage places in the past and I have never seen/experienced anything this bad. U-haul storage, although being the worst I have ever known was also the most expensive. Furthermore, other companies refund any unused portion of rental payment. They prorate the final bill. I have always used Uhaul for my moving jobs but after yesterday I am thinking twice about them. First the woman who took all my info etc never even got up off her butt to come outside and do a walk around the vehicle. Second all the info I should of been told got me a Huge bill. Third when I brought the truck back the young man who checked me out was very rude and ignorant and cocky with me. I have NEVER paid as much as I did yesterday. Customer service was horrible. Cashier didn't clearly explain charges. Everytime I went to the location whether it was to make reservation, pick up/drop off rentals or items to be stored there was always an employee smoking out front. The truck was unavailable at the scheduled time due to key misplacing by the staff location. We had to pick up the trucks with 3 hours delay form a different location 50 km away. It cause a huge delay in our plans, moreover we did not received promised $50 discount for the second reservation.PAWEL B.
I had someone drive the truck as I am not comfortable driving larger vehicles. The girl proceeded to talk down to me and say "If I can drive a 26' truck you should be able to drive a 15 foot". Kind of reverse sexism.owen H.

on my first day, the woman at the front desk explained where my unit was but when i asked if the access code was for after hours, she just said yes. The door was open so I didn't think anything of it. The door was locked on my second visit and I tried my access code on the keypad on the left and it said I was denied. Then I tried the keypad on the right and it greeted me but the door did not unlock. I tried several times to use the intercom on both keypads but got no response. Had to drive back to the main office (unit was in a different building out back) and explained what was going on. She looked puzzled, then reviewed security and THEN explained that I had to use both keypads and in the other order but wasn't very quick to hand me the instructions. I told her that she did not explain any of this to me on my first day and just stared at me. Even the instructions did not explain what I had to do when I was leaving but the sign on the door threatening to deny my entry on my next visit if I didn't do it right was very clear. Your front desk should at least have someone who is going to act professional, they are the "face" of your company! Also, there was a tag on my door stating that it was clean and ready but I couldn't get in until I removed the tag which was VERY difficult without scissors. Very clean location inclusive of the unit! MJ set up the rental reservation for me knowing I needed an outside easily accessible unit for my husband's tools. Noah processed the rental when I got there and his service was friendly, quick and thorough! Outstanding service by both MJ (who remembered when I had mentioned a few weeks back I needed a unit) and Noah was so friendly and accommodating! I was a bit frustrated that, on move in day, my swipe card access to the storage building did not work. After two unsuccessful calls to reception, I had to go into the office area to get someone to help us. Once the sliding door was open, all went very smoothly.Shael G. | First Impressions
I would have given it 5 stars if the freight elevator was accessible 24/7 and not just during office hours.
