Our lock was cut with out our knowledge. There was a leak in the building and they needed to inspect our locker. Still should of been notified by law. 80 percent of our stuff was covered in mold and had to throw away. Insurance only gave us depreciated value. There was no compassion from the uhaul employees except for the lady that closed our account on January 1st. Been trying to get ahold of a manager for months. I should be entitled to some rent back for keeping my stuff since the damage happened. Still no response

The unit I was assigned to had some pipes running through the corner and taking up space, which was a little frustrating to work around. Also, the stairs are steep, and the elevator is only for things, not people, so the stairs are the only option. Outside of those things and the price, the experience was pretty good. I was especially thankful for the elevator and hand trollies for moving things.

The bathroom was quite dirty most times I was there. My unit had a leak in the roof, which was addressed several times, but just kept being an issue. It is still not fixed. When I asked for some money back on a month of rent due to the constant need of me tracking someone down to explain the issue, I was blatantly declined with no further options. So I moved out to avoid any further damage to my items. I'm disappointed at the lack of concern for an issue within your units, as they are not cheap to keep.

I rented a storage unit when I was moving to St.Catharines which was acceptable, however, I reserved a truck twice with U-Haul, both times they called the morning I was to use the rental to inform me that the truck size I reserved was not available. It was a HUGE INCONVENIENCE. Terrible experience, made my move that much more difficult and I would never use or recommend U-Haul as a whole to anyone.

The good first, your staff were very helpful. The one major drawback about the whole thing was the building access. It's great you have an elevator and everything but the elevator isn't allowed to have people on it and the stairs are very steep. The hallways were dark and the lights kept going out while we were moving in the stuff since the motion sensors weren't detecting motion. The storage unit itself was fine except there's a pipe or something in the one corner on the floor that makes things awkward, Overall, I'm not very impressed.

Great place ..but had a bavk unit and the walk there was terrible..hallways very bumpy..when i was moving out had use if back entrance was alotttt faster and easier .. halls not very smooth ..but good place .alot of. Issues with return boxes . Thanks will recomnend . unit by back entrance??

Thank you for meeting our storage eeds during the past year while I place into storage some of my belongings. My overall experience was excellent. I would like to suggest one thing...that the top of the storage unit be some type of solid material. With a mesh wire celing and the increase of rodents and pests, it would not take much for the units to become infested if a tenant brought a pest problem into the storage facility. The use of pesticides have changed with recently changed regulations. Some residential building managers are struggling to keep pests at bay with the new regulations. Anyway...its just a though. Three times I was at this facility to take things out or add things to my storage and the lock was on the elevator. Two of those times were in the middle of the day and I had to contact the office to come over and unlock the elevator. The other time was in the evening and though the hours stated I could access my storage nobody was there to unlock the elevator so I lost money for moving expenses and travel. This location needs to look at their hours and the availability of staff to keep things open

After a few minutes with the team member going through the check in process we were made aware our unit would be accessible indoors only. It was located possibly the furthest ot could be from the access doors. We had spent 5 days dealing woth our mothers house after she passed away suddenly. It would have taken us HOURS to load/unload that storage unit. We decided to not move forward with the unit. Your team member felt as though she had a right to show us that she was severely inconvenienced by us changing our mind. Angrily crumbled up the signed documents and essentially threw a little tantrum, throwing them away etc. we were apologetic and received “the stink eye”. We were getting a 10x 15 unit and we had almost a full 20ft truck with furniture, boxes, belongings. How is there no dorect access? Anyway, at no point were we anything other than polite and kind. The young lady needs to work on her customer service skillset.

Our first day at U-Haul Moving & Storage Of Central St. Catharines, 72 Vine St S St. Catharines turned out to be total disaster: There has been a documentation #9411112 made by Tiffany Dicken, Senior Agent, U-Haul International on our U-HAUL Storage and Cargo Van Rental Contract about compensation for the time, mileage, and fuel spent to make the trip to the storage facility. On our first day shortly after 9am, we paid for our 1st monthly rental and 24hr access to our 10’x15’ storage unit. Unfortunately, when we arrived with our 2nd load late evening around 11pm our access to the facility was refused by the storage security system, in spite of the fact that we paid for 24hr access. For details please refer to documentation ##9411112 made by U-Haul International Senior Agent Tiffany Dicken 800-789-3638.

I ordered a 7x10x10 based on the model I saw in the office, but I was given a unit with Narrow door, my pallet could not go through the door on the moving in day. I had to leave my crate on the aisle for 1 hour to buy a hammer in order to break the frames of the crate, I informed the office. When I came back, my suitcases were open, several cartons were cut with a big hole and my stuff were stolen. I went back to office immediately asked to see the tape of camara, I was rejected and told she will look into it, later I was told she found nothing on the tape not even my crate in front the door of my unit which was a terrible lie...I contacted the customer service of U hual.com, Nobody would help. I couldn't believe this is a reputable company and It was a disgusting experience

We did notice there was some water in our storage unit due to leaking from the roof above, before we moved our stuff in. But it’s nothing that we can’t work around. This overall experience though has made an overall stressful situation we are in a little better.

On November 11, 2022 my father was helping me move items from his truck into the storage unit I rented. As we were getting into our vehicles to leave the UHaul facility at 72 Vine St S in St. Catharines there was a disheveled man sitting in my dad's truck going through his belongings and he stole my dad's cell phone and change. I phoned the UHaul facility the next day to report the incident and asked to speak to the manager about this safety concern and the staff took a message for the manager but the manager did not return my phone call. I phoned again and left another message and the manager did not call me back. I filed a police report and UHaul failed to provide adequate video footage of the incident taking place. Be very careful if you choose to use this facility.

I was grateful for the staff helping me out, though the whole process online was a bit confusing. Also, while my movers were there , we could not figure out the elevator so I had to walk all the way back to ask how to use it, and it was simply by pushing the door with your foot. I feel as though this needs to be fixed or told on the instructions. Staff provided me with a card so I didn't have to worry about remembering my code. That was great!

Because someone else had a large load to move and had brought many people, all of the moving equipment was being used and therefore I had to hand load my unit. I understand that it is "first come, first served but at 73 years old with a bad hip it made the move very difficult. I actually used my own small wheeled carton. Perhaps a few more pallet trucks in the "new" facility would be helpful. I cannot really fault U-Haul...it was more the attitude of the other customer. I did come back after 7 pm and there were pallet trucks available. Your staff were very helpful as usual and had all of the necessary paperwork ready on arrival. "I didn't want to keep you standing for a long time so I got it all ready"..THANK YOU

Your equipment needs to get fixed for the 2 months that I was there the bays door are out of service when I specifically got my unit close to them as I have a bad leg !! Used it to move my stuff in and when I have to come back a few time it wasn’t working and not working the day I left !!! There is a very bad odor when you go into the hallway from entrance almost like a dead rodent smell as it’s a smell one doesn’t forget!! I had issues with my swipe card when I register for a second unit when I was paying the mover by the hour I had to walk back in forth instead of uhal workers doing their job !!! Only when I got mad and said I can’t keep walking back in forth with my bad leg a uhal worker came out and than finally did something about it !!! So for a half hour I had to deal with that issue !! I was not impressed at all with my experience with uhal !!! You would 1 star for the young lady manger that’s it !!

I increased the rating to average because of the excellent service I received from the girl at the service desk. She took great care of me and was empathetic to my experience. She is a good natured person trying her best to make people happy, you can tell that’s just her personality. She gets more than 5 stars! If not for her this would be a poor rating. The email package I received for the access was insufficient. The storage area is huge, and a maze. If you have never been there before you are lost! No appropriate map or location of my storage unit was available. The online link to the map sucks. It opens half the time and when it does it’s impossible to navigate on a mobile device.

The Uhaul storage facility was fine and convenient. The problem is the one of the two sisters you have working at front desk. The fat girl is manipulative and dishonest. She is not the right person for that job. I can see she's just pretending to like people to get the day done with for a paycheck. She is a liar and I would not recommend uhaul just because of her. I dont know her name and I don't care to. If i had to use uhaul services as a last option i would let someoneelse do it for me. Just so I dont have to see her lying and conniving face!!! Very disappointed with the information when booking our storage unit and truck. Rep 1st neglected to book the truck. I had to call and speaj w/different locations, who eventually accommodated me. 2nd, when picking up the truck and confirming storage unit. same rep went over quickly the directions to the storage until upon return. Didn't give me the step by step sheet for after hours. 3rd at time of dropping of storage contents couldn't get into storage facility. Called the after hours # and the rep said we had to wait until the location was open the next day, instead of giving me instructions to get into the storage facility, wasting our time, driving the truck home, which cost more. The next day location wouldn't cover the cost of the extra mileage and in process of disputing extra monies paid. I would not recommend this location and the rep who initially serviced us needs better communications skills/training

Day one I asked for the manager to contact me, and waited 22 days for them. Finally moved out and got a storage unit with the competition. The first 10 days of my rental, my unit couldn't be secured properly due to poor unit upkeep. During my initial sign in of my storage unit, I asked about my lock for the unit. The counter agent advised that I did not have a lock. I was confused because I was under the impression that my unit came with a lock. So, I purchased a lock but when I opened my unit, a lock was in the unit! I went back to the counter, and the agent says "Oh sorry, it's not on your invoice so that's your lock now!" She would not refund me for the lock. Uhual, if a lock is included in the unit, it should be indicated on the invoice, whether it is free or paid for. When I went to return the truck rental on Welland Ave, the Gentleman there called to straighten it out, yet he advised for me to go back to Vine St because it is part of their inventory. He says "Well, you need to go return the lock to Vine Street, even if it's complimentary because you purchased a new lock". Why would I return a lock that came with my unit? Just to give it back to Uhaul for them to sell? Completely unorganized and I should have been refunded for the cost of the lock.

I was actually really disappointed with everything I experienced yesterday. The doors of the unit I was given don't close properly so anyone walking by can not only see into my unit but put their whole arm through the crack in the door. That's not private or secure. I asked the staff to put in a service request to fix it and hopefully that happens quickly because my plans to move anything in there are delayed until it does. The biggest concern anyone has about using storage lockers is security. You can't afford to neglect that, ever. I got the other items I ordered with my unit, those items were in good shape. I have no complaints about those items I received. But I do have complaints about the way the facility is maintained. I had to wheel this cart over rough terrain in the broken parking lot, then over grass, then through another area of broken pavement, fighting to keep the cart from tipping over and all my stuff falling on the wet ground. There's a homeless camp right at the side entrance and while I empathize with their situation, the idea of going there at night makes me feel really uncomfortable. There's no staff in the warehouse and no direct line to reach them in the store if you have questions. Also, the unit I got had a rat trap in it which made me feel like I need to use plastic storage containers over cardboard. There was nothing else in it but nothing in the storage warehouse is clean. The floors need to be redone, there's tripping hazards everywhere. The units are dimly lit and There's no where you can run an Extension cord so you can see what you're doing in your unit without leaving the door open to let hallway light in. Again, not very private or secure. The bathrooms were clean atleast. I spoke to the staff about my issue with the door and atleast they offered to refund my payment for the month until my door can be replaced with something that's actually secure. I left there feeling like the people in charge of running this facility just simply don't care about the customer experience. I don't mean the staff on the store, I mean the people who make choices about grounds maintenence, property standards and customer safety.

I had my belongings stored there for 11 months. - When I arrived to move in, the unit which I had reserved had been given to someoe else. I ended up having to store my things in two separate lockers. My insurance had been applied to only one of them and I had to purchase a second lock. - At the beginning of this period, there were several mistakes made on my bill. I had to call to discuss these mistakes numerous times. The phone hold time was very long and each time I invariably ended up speaking to someone in Arizona. Each time I was told that I had to speak to directly to someone at the location. The locaton is filthy. - There is debris falling from the ceiling. My belongings were covered with tiny pebbles of something. When I was moving out, it was impossible to keep this debris out of my eyes. It is a very old building. I do not know what that material was but it could very well have been a poisonous subsance which was used in construction many years ago. - The floor inside my units was not level. It was impossible to safely stack boxes. The rows of boxes toppled down because there wss no level ground. - The floor inside my units were rough, dusty, and full of pot holes. Furniture and other items were damaged due to this. Some things are too heavy to lift. They must be pushed. It was impossible to move anything around without it catching on a pothole. I had to try to lift heavy items to get them dislodged from the pot holes. - The freight elevator system is the worst I have ever experienced. When I described it to a woman at the call centre in Arizona, she couldn't believe it. A person who is moving without assistance has to send items down, then run downstairs to catch it at the bottom. - There is no loading dock. Most places have a loading dock so that heavy furniture can be transfered to a truck without having to pick it up from the ground. This is very bad for human backs and can cause much damage. Both storage companies which I have used in the past not only had loading docks but they had covered/interior loading docks to protect against rain and snow. Here, your stuff goes down the elevator and straight into the rain. I have used two other public storage places in the past and I have never seen/experienced anything this bad. U-haul storage, although being the worst I have ever known was also the most expensive. Furthermore, other companies refund any unused portion of rental payment. They prorate the final bill. The people who work there were, although not knowledgeable, very pleasant and helped to the best of their ability.

The code didn’t work, and the desk clerk told me to just go there and the instructions for moving in should be in an email on my phone. While there were instructions, they weren’t clear and didn’t provide the correct way to enter the building with a code. We had to have a random dude let us into the facility. There were very few carts. No instructions on the elevator on how to use it. Since there was only one elevator, others in the unit unpacked all of their belongings in front of the elevator and left it full and unoccupied so others could not use it. The stairs were steep and narrow and I nearly fell down them several times. The driveway to the back entrance where the elevator was located was so bad I was scared to drive down in for fear of ruining my vehicle.

on my first day, the woman at the front desk explained where my unit was but when i asked if the access code was for after hours, she just said yes. The door was open so I didn't think anything of it. The door was locked on my second visit and I tried my access code on the keypad on the left and it said I was denied. Then I tried the keypad on the right and it greeted me but the door did not unlock. I tried several times to use the intercom on both keypads but got no response. Had to drive back to the main office (unit was in a different building out back) and explained what was going on. She looked puzzled, then reviewed security and THEN explained that I had to use both keypads and in the other order but wasn't very quick to hand me the instructions. I told her that she did not explain any of this to me on my first day and just stared at me. Even the instructions did not explain what I had to do when I was leaving but the sign on the door threatening to deny my entry on my next visit if I didn't do it right was very clear. Your front desk should at least have someone who is going to act professional, they are the "face" of your company! Also, there was a tag on my door stating that it was clean and ready but I couldn't get in until I removed the tag which was VERY difficult without scissors. And fix your intercoms!

I was trying to resolve an issue when I checked out of my storage locker and asked to have the manager to call me. 4 days passed with no call back. I called again and the manager finally call me back. No apology at all for not getting back to me earlier, I have used this company many times for moves and rentals etc. and have not had any complaints. In the midst of our conversation about my issue she ended the call abruptly and then said bye and hung up. I called back and left a message for her and again no return call. Very disappointed in the customer service.

I have been double charged for a storage unit end of January 2021 and despite contacting the branch on 3 occasions, twice in person the manager was too busy to sort out a refund of $186.00. Contacting g customer service didn't help either. After going over in detail again what happened and a promise they would sort out and me a refund. They did not call back and that was 12 days ago. Further, I vacated my storage unit and advised 3 people I had left. I received a late rent notice and a phone call yesterday asking me to pay again! No I would not recommend this branch at all, 8f 9t was their money out of their chequing account I am sure they would have sorted. I now have to escalate probably legal avenue as they refuse to process a refund. Avoid this branch like the plague!

You make us buy one of your locks, which I did. Bought a defective one that kept catching. Complained to staff about the problems opening the lock. Had Mitchell come and try it himself. He had both the key & the lock in his hands and deemed the lock defective. The latch seemed to catch on the inside of the casing and took a lot of time and struggle to remove each time. MJ would not let me exchange the lock. She kept saying that “how was she supposed to know that it wasn’t my fault.” “That I didn’t drop it or damage it somehow.” Absurd. I was only there for a short time & on this particular day, was moving everything out. Got it all, but 4 bags. Put the lock on and left. Was back yesterday morning to get the last 4 bags. I could not get the lock off and came to the office to try and get help. “Robert” at least acknowledged that if I could get it off, he would exchange the lock. Something that MJ refuses to do many times. I told Robert that my key was bending and i was concerned about not being able to get it off. Went back and kept trying and the key broke off. Went back to the office again and Robert said he’d come over and help. He first went into the office and got MJ who came out again and said that “for security reasons” they couldn’t get the lock off for me.” She blamed me over and over about the lock stating that I could have dropped it, etc. I am a professional woman in my 50’s and didn’t appreciate her accusations and lack of help. Not once did she apologize for the situation or offer any type of assistance. I asked about your lock cutting staff and she would not confirm that she would get assistance, and refused to allow “Robert” to help. I left and with a little bit of research, found a manager from another location who I had never dealt with before, who sympathized with my situation. This new manager shared with me how to get the broken piece out of the lock with a Bobbie pin and that I could then try my spare lock. Failing that, this new manager then gave me the number of the Hamilton location where upper management could arrange some help. I Googled that number and drove to Hamilton. “Tom” at this location called MJ for me and complained about their lack of customer service on my behalf. He inquired about a reason why they wouldn’t help and they could not provide one for him. He got off the phone and went and talked to “Michelle” who authorized the u-Haul lock cutter, “Eric” to come and help and have me a new lock. While I drove back to St. Catharines and waited, he even called again to let me know when Eric would be there. Eric showed up around 9:30 and was extremely nice. He got the broken piece of key out and wanted to try the spare key himself. He had extreme difficulty getting the lock off with the key, too, ended up hurting himself while doing so and took the lock and keys with him.Judging on how my experience had gone to date, I went into the office to get a move out receipt from Robert before leaving. There is simply no excuse for this experience. MJ checked me into the locker, MJ rented me the van and took my drivers license, and MJ was there during every experience stifling her staff from helping me. I am extremely disappointed and baffled as to why a grown woman would be such a position, if she does not have the problem solving skills, or customer service skills to deal with these types of situations. Perhaps this position is too overwhelming for her and you need to re-examine your staffing at this location. Even a Manager whom I have never dealt with before, was able to offer assistance and direction. I had spent a lot of my time and frustration trying to get some assistance with a lock that U-Haul forces customers to buy and then does not stand behind their product. At least this Manager refuses to. In running my business, I could not even fathom speaking to one of my customers in the way that MJ handled this situation and is certainly not a good look for your company. At the very least, this woman requires further training on how to deal with situations as they arise.

I would have given it 5 stars if the freight elevator was accessible 24/7 and not just during office hours. Perhaps with the same card activated access as the man door instead of staff locking it 20mins before the end of the day, forcing me to have to carry heavy boxes, one at a time, up the stairs to my unit.

The Vine street U-Haul has made significant upgrades and I support this friendly business. However, I recently chose the outside unit thinking it would be better for quick access etc (which it was). The unit leaked when it rained and there was evidence of rat feces on the stored boxes and floor. I had not chosen the extra coverage, so an expensive rug was ruined despite being covered and otherwise just gross. Don't use outside units!

So first off I was told that I would receive a storage unit free for a month if I rented a truck from Niagara Falls and dropped it in St. Catharines which made it so I had to go all the way there considering i was in St. Catharines. The gentleman in Niagara Falls was very helpful and lowered my rate cause I didn’t have to do that. So then I get to vine at location to find out that the storage unit I booked was indeed not on the main level which I had requested cause I can’t walk stairs. When I called to open I was given the main level at 134.95 and told it was a promotion. When I arrived I was told it was not the main floor and that If I wanted a main floor unit I would have to pay 164.95. The employee was texting the manager and the reply was there’s nothing I can do unless I pull up the call. So I said yes do that. Cause I’m not paying 164.95. So I waited. Half hr went by and they pulled a call. Was not my call about ordering. It was a call just inquiring on prices and info then she goes on to tell me that now they can’t find the call when I ordered. Very convenient I must say. So needless to say I’m waiting on someone to rectify this issue or my stuff will be coming out of the unit after my 30 days and I will be going to another storage place and going to social media about how much they are unprofessional and lie to you obviously just to make a sale. Won’t happen with me!!!

I will not recommend U-Haul for ANY Services in the future. My experience renting a truck was a nightmare at a very stressful time in my life. Thanks for nothing Uhaul

I've been dealing with U-Haul for probably 25 yrs now and I see they have the money to expand to the factory next door and spend all that money but yet they cannot seem to fix the problem with the lift that was broken 3/4 or more of the time I showed up. And I don't know what is going on with the massive pot holes, and (ponds) of water throughout the parking lot. The parking lot is not exactly car friendly. I had multiple problems with the one employee basically calling me a liar about the lift and said"I don't want to have to get up to go show you how to use it" (quoted and I had someone with me who heard that also). Second time he said he wasn't working but was standing behind the counter and would not assist me. Big guy with a beard, serious issues, even with the woman who was helping me one day. That guy clearly hates his job and doesn't like to stand up??

It was a little disappointing when I tried to “ skip the line” check in myself. For some reason it wasn’t working where my photo of my license. I asked the young lady if she could help, she said to have a sit and she would check me in. Then charged me for a lock $11.99 that I was to receive free trying to check myself in. I have screen shots of “ skip the line” Then to top it off, she asked if I wanted first or second floor? I replayed, whatever I booked, the $69.95 she said “ no worries” At the end she said that my master auto pay & that it will be $90+ I said $69. Her reply was no no your on the first floor. I fault ripped off.... not happy

Our truck leaked in the rain and all of our belongings were wet. There was no light in our storage unit. Its was a 20x10 and we had to unload the 20ft truck we rented in the dark.
