When I made my reservation on the phone with David I was able to use my Debit card, and David told me that it would be okay at the location. when I went to use the same card at the location I was told I could not use a debit for a truck, I had to rent a 10; box truck. I was not happy. If i could use a debit card to rent a box truck why could I not use it to rent a truck??????ellen C.

After trying to pick up a rental from another location and discovering their auto transporter didn't have a tag and it had a busted tire, the ladies in North Fort Myers went above and beyond to make up for the poor service from the other rental location. I will drive the farther distance to North Fort Myers from now on. They really earned my respect when they took it upon themselves to make up for errors and inconveniences that they didn't cause. The bottle-blonde chick at the desk was rude. Not just to me, to every person I saw or heard her speak to. She comes across as extremely lazy and creating a negative and hostile working environment. Re: storage. The one thing I needed most was to plug in a small chest freezer to preserve a few thousand dollars worth of meat. There was no power connection in the unit. One day I tried plugging it into the bathroom outlet and it was unplugged by a staff member. Adding ice, EVERY DAY did not work. I've lost a lot of my store.SARAH L. | Overall Experience

I dropped the trailer off a day early and they charged me $20 for not checking it in on the app. The app is very difficult to use. I sat in the parking lot trying to check in for 20 minutes. You should make the app where all you have to enter is your name and phone number. You have everything for marketing already. Why force a renter to create an account? After giving in to create an account, the app then told me I already had an account and I needed to login. Then it hung when I said I forgot the password. Again, why so difficult. Name and phone number. Look up the rental equipment. Choose to extend use or check in. Should be easy. Painful!Ray J.

Prior to our renting our equipment in Illinois we checked to see if a motorcycle trailer was available to rent and was told they do not rent them out of town and the person said she didn't have access to our previous rentals. However other uhaul locations we contacted they were very helpful and were able to look up all our information and said all uhaul hubs can look up everything. We just don't think that person wanted to help us because we weren't picking it up from their location.Mark B.

The Truck i rented needs to be removed from service it has almost 200,000 miles on it and shake a lot while driving, the check engine light came on 15 minutes into my trip and there are leaks in the attic area and in the riders side floor area. Everything about this location is perfect. Clean truck, clean facility, and very friendly and welcoming manager. Has only one problem, the UHaul app did not recognize my location when I returned the truck after hours. I called for support, and the representative told me place the keys in the dropbox, and he would put notes in the reservation letting them know I had trouble. The next morning I was still charged a $20 fee for returning without checking the truck in through the UHaul app.Gerald R.

There were no lights on the 2nd floor where my items were stored. I was not informed of this until I arrived in the building. Finding my unit in the dark was next to impossible and I went around wandering the floor, losing track of the people who came up after me in my party. I wandered alone in the dark for 20 minutes, it was basically a scene out of a horror movie, trying to echo locate the people helping me move. As a young women, I did not appreciate this experience. When speaking with the person on the intercom to ask if there was a light switch, or why the lights weren't working, the person who answered was rude and curt, and told us the lights were working in the rest of the building like that mattered considering my unit was on the floor that was without lights. Although we did find out that the lights were down due to a lightning strike, Not even the emergency lights were on. The person offered no help and basically said, deal with it. An offer to move the unit or bring up a flashlight would have made this a better experience. I have returned a week later, and the lights are still not fixed, there is only one small light placed per corridor with some having none at all. I am still having to use the flashlight on my phone to even see inside my unit, and it is still terrifyingly dark.Rachael S. | Online Move In

Our only issue was that we had a reservation for a 10 x 10 but when we went to the facility, all they had on the ground floor was a 10 x 15, which we accepted and will likely keep for several months until our new house is ready. We were hoping to pay $144+ per month instead of $239+ per month but we are NOT moving storage units even if a 10 x 10 becomes available, it's too much work for senior citizens. On a positive note, everyone we dealt with at U-Haul throughout this process was very pleasant and our rental truck ran flawlessly. Only issue I take is with thee accessibility of the storage unit where the cars pull in. There was usually only 1 way in and same way out and pulling a trailer to get out really was bad. They either had signs saying do not enter for alternatives or they had the roadways block with boxes and trailers and vans. Makes it horrible to just drive up to the loading entrance for loading ad and unloading. You should provide clear drive paths at both ends of the storage facility allowing vehicles a clear ingress and egress possibilities.Todd G. | Overall Experience
When we got to my unit the AC building doors were not working. Only the single door and it was left wide open. An associate was walking by and I asked about the doors. She barely acknowledged me and said what can I do about them, they're broke , someone's coming Monday! as she obviously was more interested in her cigarette and didn't want to be bothered My question is why was It even rented to me without letting me of the problem. Staff we very friendly and helpful and together with a clean facility would have been easy to recommend the location. The issues are not with the location, had reserved 2 storage units one on the 1st floor and the other on 2nd floor. When I arrived was told there was no units available on the 1st floor. Only once I became insistent did the team go and find a unit. This is the 2nd occurrence when reservation was made with U-Haul and there was an issue. The roadways & drive through areas are too congested with all the storage boxes everywhere. Many times I was trying to leave & had to wait for large trucks to get out of the way. Also there are only 2 flatbed dollies & 2 mattress dollies? On weekends I had to wait many times to obtain a dolly since it was busy. 1-Friendly but overworked staff. I was to pick up the van at 10am. I arrived 9:50. The line was out the door. One person at register. This was crazy! I waiting on line over an hour for a reserved van. You need more people in your busy days Saturday and Sunday. My entire day was delayed because of this. 2- i reserved online with my debit card. After and hour on line i was told the cannot take debit cards. Where were the signs? The notices? Let people be prepared. We rented a 10x15 a couple weeks ago then I ordered a 5x10 the day we were supposed to move in. The website offered the 5x10 but said nothing about a waiting list. We knew we needed 2 units so we thought we were good. The facility didn't have the smaller unit nor did any other facility in the area. Now I was driving around with stuff in a truck that I didn't have a place for and the truck needed to be returned 12 hours later. My thoughts Uhaul should update there website so units ONLY available are offered for rent. Otherwise truck ran great, tow dolly worked great. I had 1 box left, and my lock to install. Access denied; re-signed at both boxes and access granted - but neither the sliding doors nor swinging would open. Customer service connected me to 'emergency - fire/police'. We played that several times - the 3rd time I requested to the rep staying on the line during transfer and it didn't! Connecting says 30-40min wait; 10mins after 7pm was the time. That was after reserving with Blake, not getting the online site to accept some info, then repeating almost everything again inside the N.FM location.
