Nothing to change... With the assistance of the "Moving Help" labor this is the most logical kind of move. To use any of the subcontracted trucking movers will cost you 10 times if not more, and you'll have more damaged and missing items than is humanly possible to tolerate. Made that mistake twice in many moves. Stick to U Haul and their 'Moving Help' loaders and unloading personnel.Jody C.

Moving staircase to access upper units in my section of building was broken and barely moved. It also would not safely raise the wheels, essentially causing me to have to stand on it while unsecured, with all 4 wheels touching the ground. This isn't a huge issue since I plan on using the unit for longer term, until I move homes, but it's pretty unsafe to use during my visit(s).Christopher K. | Online Move In

Never received an invoice for the second month, but my son Christian was sent a letter addressed to me threatening rental suits to all our personal for $45 plus a late fee of $10.00. A simple phone call or text would be appreciated. I have used U-Haul a number of times and served the Beckley,WV area. I can't think of anything they could have done to improve. Staff hooked up the trailer while I was checking in. We then checked all the lights, tires, and safety equipment. I went to this location to have the hitch recommended by Reese Hitch for my truck installed. I called ahead to ensure that the correct hitch was available and that they were expecting me, and proceeded to drive an hour one way to get it installed. After giving them my keys, I had to wait 2.5 hours. While I was waiting I asked whether everything was going alright with the installation, and I was told by the owner/installer that he has big hands and that it's a tight space and he didn't know why these hitches were made like this. He said if it were another hitch it would have been a 20 minute installation. After the install was finally complete and I started to drive home, I noticed that the turn signals were blinking unusually fast. I checked and the turn signals were non operational. I returned to this location and showed them the problem, and gave them a second chance to complete the job correctly since the first attempt failed. I waited another 20 minutes, and when I was given my keys back, I was told that the hitch install directions from the manufacturer told the installer to reposition the ground between the frame and the hitch receiver. But clearly that did not work, so instead a self-tapping screw was used to embed the ground to the truck bed frame support. When I left, the turn signals seemed to be working fine, but 2 nights later, while driving at night on a highway, all the lights in the back of the car stopped working, including turn signals and break lights. Now my only vehicle is not operational. I had to cancel my Memorial Day plans and now I have to wait until tomorrow, a day before I am leaving for a 12 hour road trip, and rush to find some way to make it drivable again as soon as possible.Rowan T.

Called to cancel my unit with them, was assured the unit would be auctioned off and I would stop being charged for the unit one month after I cancelled it. This was not the case, I called for five months straight when I kept receiving invoices for the unit, was assured everytime I called (on a monitored and recorded line) that these statements were inaccurate and to ignore them as my unit bill would be cleared when the unit was auctioned off which was originally scheduled to be one month after I called and cancelled. However, just now almost 10 months later I am still receiving invoices for the unit. I requested to keep my trucks an extra day since I rented 2 10' one way rentals. I wasn't sure if I was going to get them emptied in time to return them. I had both trucks in before 6pm. One rental was a 4pm and the other was 6pm. I had the first truck there before 3pm and the second by 5:30pm. The facility still charged me 56.80 for next day return. Full disclosure, the facility had a fire that destroyed the electrical grid on property. After that, the store scrambled to restore power but was unable to restore the remote gate operation. We had to bother employees to gain access to our RV. They were terrific when we needed to get in. My issue is with Uhaul corporate for not repairing the problem and then not discounting my fee. The contacted price included remote 24 hour access. Uhaul breached their contract. The Beckley store was awesome, scrambling to make the diminished facility operational. The storage unit and building (climate controlled units) were VERY clean. Stored my items for one year until I moved out of state. I used auto-draft for my monthly payments and didn't have any issues with billing/payments. I only spoke to the office staff twice, to secure the unit and to "leave" the unit.
