This place is very confusing. We could not find personnel. Tried self checkin and there is no place to drop the key. Finally found someone who said to leave the key in the truck. There could be better signage for drop offs

The unit is old and was supposed to be climate controlled but it's just a wooden box. I've used uhaul be and the facility was much nicer. I will be moving to a better fain the near future

When I picked up my uhaul in Hickory it had one associate who quickly while processing mine checked in a return and helped a customer that was trying to help a friend make a payment but the friend was at the wrong store. This associate was a true multitasker. When I dropped my truck off in Richmond you had 4 associate #1was helping a customer #2 was walking out with another customer # 3 was one the phone with a customer and # 4 had just finished with a customer and I was waiting on #4 to call on me but never did. I walked down to their station and they pointed me back up to the other two already occupied associate's. When associate # 1 finished with their customer I told them I had a return and was instructed by associate to leave key in door. Had I'd known that I could have saved myself 10 minutes in waiting.

I had to store furniture in a storage that had so access without using moving stairs. Imagine loading a 150lbs couch up to a storage unit without direct access. Be mindful of storage unit needs of people, caution them about if it has direct access

This entire experience from start to finish has been a MESS on Uhauls end. The location I received as my dropoff location was not this location - it was SmartsTowing. Once we dropped it off at that location (which was the one on our order) we got a call from this location asking when we were dropping off our truck. I explained that we just dropped it off and he said "no you didn't". It then took over 24 hours (and multiple calls from me to Uhaul) for them to figure out that they had messed up and didn't send me the updated order with the address of this facility, so I had no idea it had changed. It has been so wildly chaotic to work with Uhaul and it's dealers that we will not be using Uhaul again. I suggest tightening your net and focusing on quality over quantity - it's obviously difficult for the Uhaul team to keep up with everything.

The online experience and app experience are freaking miserable. Nothing worked and I would not have been able to collect my rental if it weren't for the nice people at the location working outside their business hours. I dealt with three people and all three were professional and very personable. They hooked up the trailer and tested the lights, then I was out of there. I'm not sure there is room for improvement. Maybe doing something that will maintain the high morale you have going on. You don't want to lose caring people like that.

The contract part of the visit was okay. The loading part was less than sufficient. After he attached the trailer to the truck, I noticed the tongue was a little low (causing the tandem axels not to be even in the ground; I wanted to reverse my hitch's ball to raise the tongue so it would ride level, especially after I load the vehicle. The person did everything to discourage me. They also did not walk me around and explain all the features I would be using , including flipping the fender out so I could exit (which I had to climb out the hatch to exit-later I found how to reenter the vehicle by the fender). I was very frustrated after loading the vehicle. This place needs more training so they can't better instruct customers on use of your equipment.

The staff, during the pickup, were great. Upon the return, a different staff member was also great. Watching them working with other customers, all of the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth the drive to get everything you may need for any moving .

work with customers and honor your quotes. I had a quote set for 700 and moved the date by hours and got charged double and NO ONE HAD TOLD ME THE PRICE WOULD DOUBLE. Otherwise i wouldnt have changed the time. this was wrong because i got no options no support in figuring out what could be done just threatened that if i looked for another quote i could lose the one that i already had and the next one could be higher. I have used uhaul before and i never got this lack of cooperation and support.

Very aggressive phone calls and texts. 3 calls at 730am back to back to back. No voicemails. Then text saying they would report truck stolen in 4 hours. When call was returned at 9am. Female On-site rep was combative and truthfully mean. Chat with reps on Sunday, prior to return time, through uhaul.com unable to help/extend rental. Will not be renting from this location ever again due to phone/text communication. Gentleman that worked the counter for initial pickup was great.

Have coupons (such as the deal for 1 month free storage rental with a truck reservation) go through automatically instead of having to mention it to the people at the front desk when you check in. Due to this I had to pay full price, which was a little inconvenient, but it is what it is. Good Air conditioning throughout the storage buildings would be good for moving in the summer time. Oh and the parking lot situation is kinda weird for the amount of units y'all have. Not many spaces.

Better signage to find vans. Also you have to drive the van off a curb to exit this location. And my van had issues with the parking brake. Also the whole pickup experience was so bad. I have a U-Haul account and just got another U-Haul last week. You guys can't save my drivers license to my account? I had to take 6 pictures because it kept telling me the image was unclear. Plus, when you reserve the van share you have to decline another 5 pages of U-Haul selling you things. Your UI should know that if I'm reserving a 9 foot van for 1 hours with 5 miles estimated, then I don't need 2 hours of moving labor. So please don't make me decline that, and decline furniture pads and all that other stuff. It's just not a smooth experience.

The people at this location were EXTREMELY RUDE ! from the moment I walked in the door to the second I returned my truck they were almost trying to see how rude and unprofessional they could be ! The guy I dealt with at return tried charging me a "clean up fee" before he even checked the truck over and the truck was filthy when I picked it up in fact I actually threw away trash that was left on the dashboard from the previous renter ! The van looked like it had been wrecked in multiple spots it barely had gas in it and the Interior was dusty but the rude guy at returned said "I'm gonna have to charge you for cleanup" before he even looked the vehicle over . The floorboard driver side BARELY had a dusty footprint (which was there when I got the vehicle) ! I felt like it was an attempt to add some additional fee on ! I asked the guy how much he was going to charge me to remove the tiny dusty footprint no bigger then my hand so I'd know how much to charge him for the removal of water bottles left on dash (dangerous for driving conditons) and he said never mind I won't charge you . This location is TERRIBLE and if I hadn't already had arrangements and had people waiting on me for the truck I wouldve canceled my reservation and walked out the door !!! The young lady that waited on me from the start was EXTREMELY RUDE !!! Not only to me but in the middle of my transaction with her she picks up a ringing phone which no one else seemed to car about and started screaming at them !!! stay away from here !!

1. The truck that I rented is a safety hazard as the left door is damaged due to an accident and takes multiple efforts to close and does not fully close. 2. The attendant receiving vehicles needs supervising. I drive up and get out, this person gets in slams the door shut and begins to drive forward. No word no contact nothing. I walk off and he's screaming about his OCD like I should know his mental state/capacity. Absolutely unacceptable and zero quality customer service. 3. The inside attendants were patient and prompt even though i was taking calls while at the counter.

Your non-contact process did not work. I wonder if it was related to the color of my skin. The cargo van was dirty (animal hair) and the tire pressure warning was on. The rental was returned at 5pm not 6:30. This was partially because my rental pick up was delayed because I had to wait in line to see an agent rather than contactless pickup.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. I was able to get everything done in a timely manner. I am very happy with my experience. One suggestion I have would be (if there is space) to add more room for the drop-off area, as a lot of the trucks were spilling over into the other lanes. Regardless, it was a very smooth process.

Literally the Blindspot mirrors on the driver side were smashed and broken. the driver seat had holes in it; as well as the driver side visor was broken. as for the actual bed of the truck it was fine. but at the 900 north Lombardy Richmond VA location the key dropbox is nonexistent for people who are returning after hours. I literally searched and did three walk-throughs of the whole entire location and could not find a clearly labeled key dropbox. It got to the point where I just put the keys in the truck and left because it was taking me way longer than it needed to. y'all say in your videos that it takes you 15 minutes to return the truck, well it took me an hour and a half and it was unacceptable. and it needs to be a smoother process because I looked like a crazy lady walking around this property. Y'all also really need to update your website because it glitched on me five separate times during the return process and so I'm not even 100% sure if the truck has returned in the system because it literally never sent me a confirmation or a receipt to my email afterwards like it said it would. Anyways I never plan on renting a U-Haul in the near future or probably ever again.

If i reserve packing blankets and a dolly, then the location should actually reserve those things for me. they sent me to another location for both things, and i was only given blankets not a dolly. it wasted an hour of my time, and i was not given all the things i needed to move. very frustrating overall and despite the helpful employee who took my keys, it's doubtful i'll use uhaul again.

I called the day before picking up my vehicle to ask if I could drop my vehicle off at a different location that picked up and they said yes no problem. Just to get there and be told this is a “local” vehicle. (with a arizona license plate) and I had to find a way to bring it back. The customer service was poor and the manager was trying to help but at the end of the day I was still charged to bring it all the way back to this location. I am extremely disappointed and will not be using this location again.

Rates and hours were on par with similar storage units in the area, but buildings were not clean, general maintenance on the building was not maintained (e.g. trip hazards from broken flooring on elevator landings, fan/climate control units making loud noise and not regulating temperature), sirens going off without bring addressed by security/employees).

Juju and the staff were super friendly and helpful!! Juju was very accommodating when we were trying to figure out the right size storage. When we were exhausted and trying to get the last stuff in for the night, a gentleman that worked there offered to go get carts for us. The only thing I can say that is not that great, but it is the city so it makes sense, is the lack of parking and unloading areas. The poor man that was working there was having to juggle every car that came in and get people moving one way or another just to be able to get people in to park for unload or load or get a truck. But, that really didn't affect us that particular day just because we were lucky enough that the loading zone was open, it was just very hairy trying to park and get in and out with all the other cars trying to get around. But the people that worked at U-Haul were used to it and very good about getting people to move around where they needed.

On the late morning of Sept 12, 2021, I came to the VCU location to unload a 6x12 trailer into a 5x10 storage unit and then return the trailer. All 3 staff members I saw were incredibly helpful, friendly, and professional. I wish I'd gotten their names but I was exhausted from driving and didn't think of it. Everyone at this location that day was just a dream to work with, and I truly appreciate it. Best service I've ever experienced at a Uhaul.

The staff there was very helpful, kind, and friendly. I did rent a 10 x 10 truck which drove good and was clean. I also had an issue with my storage unit as it was too small. That was a mistake on my part, due to thanking my belongings could fit in that space. The great thing about that situation was, I was able to get a full refund on my storage unit, as I only had it for 2 days. I thought their action on this situation was awesome. I did not have any problems with obtaining my initial payment for the storage unit. I think your agency did a great job with my situations. Thanks for all the agency has done for me and have an awesome day

I am writing this review to inform whoever may be interested that I had the worst customer service experience of my life with U-Haul last weekend. In hopes of being comprehensive, I will start from the very beginning of trying to set up my trunk rental online. While initially I was able to reserve a truck from 7/30 to 8/2 through the website, I received a call from U-Haul Customer service informing me that it wasn't possible to rent a truck for the period of time that I was requesting. Instead I was told that I could rent a truck two separate days and an onsite storage unit. When I showed up to the North Lombardy location on 7/30 to pick up my rental, Dani not only attempted to talk me out of a storage unit but neglected to get me set up with said unit after I clearly stated my need for one. After returning to the same U-Haul that afternoon to inquire about my storage unit I was told that none were available. I promptly called U-Haul customer service to try and get this situation solved, and fortunately was able to be insured I would get my storage unit. When returning to the N. Lombardy location 7/31, I expressed that I was unhappy with the miscommunication the day prior and asked what was going to be done to correct the errors made and the inconveniences caused by the errors. Dani's response was that she could cancel my storage unit, and she claimed she was already doing me favors. I did not see it this way because the clearing of the unit was done because of mistakes made by U-Haul employees at the N. Lombardy store. After this response I asked for the phone number for Dani's boss, Clinton O'Neil, and I left a message with his office at just before 8 AM. I refused to deal with Dani any further until I spoke with Clinton, which never happened. Instead of insuring I got in touch with Mr. O'Neil, Dani told me she was calling the police to report the truck as stolen. I hope one can agree that that was not only unnecessary but a drastic escalation. When returning to the store to sort out the issue I was gaslit and again told I was being done favors and not being treated unfairly. I called O'Neils office immediately and expressed how important it was that I speak with him. About an hour after leaving the store I received a call from O'Neil's office and spoke to who I believe to be his assistant. After explaining the scenario, I was told my rental was being extended and I didn't have to return the truck until 8/2 and would be receiving a call from Clinton that day. While this solved the present issue it didn't resolve the horrific way I was treated by the North Lombardy manager, and I never heard from Clinton O'Neil. All this being said, I plan on never using U-Haul again and will happily pay twice as much to not be treated the same way. if I do not receive a response from the proper individuals to fully compensate me I will gladly post this review on any and all platforms

Only 4 stars as your one employee, I should have taken his name ... Caucasian male with facial hair was extremely condescending to me over a simple question, so much that I had to call him on it and then he stared me down. Casually, I noticed him speaking in a similar way to other U-Haul patrons. Awful customer interaction and he should not be allowed to interact with customers. Again, I don't know his name and should have taken his name from his name tag, but he was working the return truck line on 08/01/2021 when we were there from 1230-1430. Awful Customer interaction !!!!!!!

Right when we got to the counter they were ready to give up on us. They overbooked the storage spaces and we ended up with a space that we didn't even reserve, which wasn't an upgrade, for the same exact price as our original reservation. The guy we interacted seemed done with life (which is fair in customer service), but he didn't try at all to find a solution with us, which I felt was beyond ridiculous. Once he couldn't find my phone number (Due to him not asking if it was storage or truck) it was obvious he couldn't care less. I understand being rude to rude customers, but the man we dealt with was rude from the get go. It took a nice, kind woman in the background to shout to him for him to realize that they still had open storage. Once the woman took charge everything was smooth, but without her the process would've been difficult and beyond annoying. The only reason I'm giving this department 2 stars is because of that woman, she treated us like people and was beyond kind hearted. If she wasn't there they wouldn't deserve any stars.

The facility was under staffed and there was a long line trying to get to the counter. A Customer was furiously complaining that he couldn't get his U-Hall truck out of the parking lot because the truck was blocked, he's been waiting for over 30 minutes for assistance. The customer facing staff at the counter could be a little more friendly when dealing with customers.
