David R.We rented a truck to move our belongings. We were told by the U-Haul rep in the pickup location that would be okay to go overtime for a couple of hours. We were still not done with our moving that we received a phone call from U-Haul in Columbia, South Carolina demanding to return the truck and they charged us an extra day even though they did not allow us to keep the truck for the extra day. They rented the truck to someone else !!! Even though U-Haul charged us an extra day, they didn't allow us to keep the truck for extra day! I called the U-Haul customer service which was ridiculous and I was on hold for 3 hours. I tried online chat which was the same problem and I request a refund for the extra day charge
Cameron Z.I am dissatisfied with the manner in which my reservation was handled. I rented a trailer for two days with the understanding that if I returned it within 24 hours I could receive a refund for the unused day. When I spoke to the Uhaul representative while turning the trailer in at Uhaul Columbia, he. Informed me the manager was gone and if a credit did not show up on my card, I could call the manager the next day and he would issue the credit. He said he wasn't authorized to to the refund, but the manager could. He gave me the manager's business card. A credit did not appear on my credit card so I attempted to reach the manager by telephone. The first time he was not there and the second time I was only able to get an automated response. I called the Uhaul telephone number I got from the internet website and received a call back. The representative informed me, for the first time, that since this was a one way rental the company did not issue refunds for unused days. I told him that local representatives had advised me otherwise and I thought this was a poor business practice. I fail to see the reason for this policy other than to fleece the customer I had always used Uhaul because I believed it to be reputable. Now I have my doubts.

Thomas H.The drop off location was adequate but my experience returning my rental was awful. The drop off location specified in my agreement was closed when I arrived and looked like it was closed permanently (I don't know if that's the case. I drove to two other U-Haul locations that I found online that either didn't exist or had moved. I called one of the phone numbers and it was a different business. I was finally able to drop it off at the 4th location I found online. U-Haul might want to clean up their internet listings for Columbia, SC.

I even asked does it leak and his reply was “naw†because I was in a hurry I took it and once I loaded all my belongings and proceeded to my destination of course we ran into major rain and something to me to check the inside of the trailer…EVERYTHING WAS WET.郎郎郎郎郎
James J.Did not have the furniture pads that I had RESERVED nor the Dollie. Was told that they were first come, first serve and no solution was offered. Truck was not cleaned out. Trash and push pins all over the floor of the back. Lots of room for improvement at this location.
Rich R.The truck was dirty on the inside. There wasn't a utility dolly available even though I reserved one with my truck rental so I had to drive to another location to rent one. Staff did not do an inspection with me before I left. Staff had very young babies in car seats in a room with the lights off while working. There wasn't any gas in the truck. The staff was nice, but the overall process needs to be done better.
Chanetra C.I was told to return the truck anywhere between 1/4 and 3/8 of a tank of gas. I returned the vehicle just above 1/4 and when checking my receipt they claim that I returned it on 1/8 of a tank which simply is not true. Upon returning, the return agent walked around the vehicle and checked gas and told me I was good to go.
Carson T.I reached this location first to have a trailer for a car tow removed. I pulled up and per the posted signs stayed in the truck to wait for an attendant to reach the truck to assist me. No one came. I exited the truck and found the person on staff was actually the same person standing outside talking with her dad and not assisting me. Thankfully her dad was able to remove the tow trailer and I left to unload the truck. I returned this truck with the appropriate amount of gas but because the check-in was not some properly either time (no one walked around, checked mileage or fuel, ect…the keys were taken from me and I was told good day). It's extremely suspicious that I'm now being told that there was less than 1/4 of a tank of gas. I literally bought $40 worth of gas to push the tank past the 3/4 full point to ensure my drive to the drop off location wouldn't put it under that amount. I'm not sure where the mistake was made or who may be out right being deceitful but I don't like being lied on and stolen from. Improving would look like being honest about what really happened to the fuel in that truck, having attendants who actually do their job according to what's publicly posted so the public understands how business is to be done, being consistent with standard business practices…all good ways to begin.

Steven W.This was awful. Truck booked and then not available. Had to go 40 min out of the way to get it. 24/7 pickup another joke. Kept putting me back at the login so I had to wait an hour for the location to open. They then said it wasn't their problem so I had to throw a fit to get help. Then no cart so had to drive AGAIN to get that. Then you put the wrong truck in the system so more trouble at drop off. Would love to know what you're offering to compensate HOURS being added to my long moving day and 12 hour drive. Will NOT be back

KRISTEN T.This location was very unresponsive to me concerning my guaranteed reservation. They did not have my truck ready on time despite me having called ahead to make sure it was available. This meant that the movers were delayed and I had to pay for an extra hour because the U-Haul I reserved was not available. They made me take an in town truck instead of one way which meant I spent extra money on gas and mileage! This cost a whole lot more for no reason and then the manager never contacted me after I wrote an email concerning this issue. When I called he was short with me and said all U-Haul might give me back would be $50 and I could call and complain if I wanted to but he doesn't do refunds! So I paid an extra $270 because they didn't honor their reservation.

The morning we were scheduled To pick it up, I called to reconfirm and they told me they were no 15 foot trucks available. We had to go to another location and get a 20 foot truck which was more gas, And more challenging to drive. Was disappointing experience.
MARIA T.Rented a 12x6 box trailer. The gentleman hook it up tested the lights then sent us on our way. When we arrived at our destination and started to carrying stuff out to the truck we discovered there was a pad lock left on the trailer door. Tried to call the store and just got referred to online. Went online and put in a request for help and never received a phone call. If it wasn't for a nice stranger in the neighborhood we were picking up the table from we would have been stuck out in the street with a dining room table and chairs with no way to get them home. Also when we dropped the trailer off after hours I tried to return it online but after several attempts I couldn't get past the second page where you take a picture of the clean trailer because it would never highlighted the continue button no matter what I would do.

PRISCILLA P.There was an extremely overpowering odor in the cargo van of both tobacco and some sort of air-freshener or cologne to try and mask the tobacco scent. Not cool. A clean cargo van would have been better and easier to return in the same condition. There was dirt smudged on the outside of the van as well as in the seats, on the floor of the cab, and in the cargo area. We swept and vacuumed, but did not bother washing the outside of the vehicle.

Andy M.My Reservation #: 20595576 and drop off location was at the following: Drop Off Location: U-Haul Moving & Storage of Fort Jackson 5604 Forest Dr Columbia, SC 29206 But when I got to the location the employee working there told me that I could not drop it off there and send me to another location, 30 minutes away. I requested that location because it is right outside Fort Jackson military installation (Where I live). After showing the employee my confirmation email she still would not assist us. poor working manners.
Gerardo G.I was able to get a pickup truck on a Saturday with a same day reservation. I was grateful since I was only in town for the weekend. From reservation to returning the vehicle it was all of 90 mins, unfortunately the longest portion was the wait in the office to complete the paperwork for the reservation. The staff seemed overwhelmed w two complex transactions firing me to wait in line for 30 mins. Otherwise staff was great. Truck was not in best condition and was certain recently used by a smoker

When we returned the uhaul the lady was very nice. The male manager there is also very rude. Out of all the uhauls this is the worst.
