Our experience with uHaul was less than satisfactory. Contact thru the phone line is way to long to speak to a representative to receive information of any kind. There was not enough staff at either the pick up location in Missouri or the delivery destination in Fort Myers FL. The service at both locations was deplorable,, not enough employees to be helpful and long waits. Also the delivery location for pick up in Florida was sent to a different location than we had contracted for, which was an hour north of our assigned destination. The morning of the pickup we experienced another long wait time. We were then told that was the pod had been hit by a semi truck overnight. The pod was damaged and at our arrival the entire contents of the pod had to be removed by a crew and reloaded into another pod for us to move the unit. That delayed our pick up by almost 2 hours and we had no idea if any damage was done to the contents. At this time we are still trying to open all boxes to assess any damage done to contents.Paul B.

My overall experience from start to finish with U-Haul was very stressful and unorganized on U-Haul's part. I called customer service multiple times over the course of 4 months, and every representative I talked to didn't seem to know the correct answer to give me. Each time I called to move forward with my move process (confirming the U-Box loading facility, getting my U-Box scheduled for shipment, arrival date, etc.), the representative I talked to said the last one I had talked to had given me the wrong answer, and this continued throughout my whole move. My box arrived safely, but the entire process was a very negative experience and I don't think I would use this again.Marissa S.

For some reason one of my boxes had no lock on it when it was brought to me - I had just purchased a second lock for me to use. I know I placed a lock on each unit but only one lock was in place.Deanna J.
Really enjoyed the U-box service and the people were friendly. However, when the boxes were delivered, they were put too closely together, and we could not open one of them. We had to completely empty one of them, and then it took three of us to be able to shimmy the other box enough to open. Then, when the boxes were picked up, I heard a loud noise outside. I didn't think anything of it, but today, I went to go look outside and our downspout was moved out of place and slightly crushed.Katie M.
The product and the process itself was perfection for me. The shortcoming was in communication both at the shipping end of Kansas City and the receiving end in Vermont. Constant busy signal on the phone and then long wait times to get to a human. The humans were fantastic it just seems that there are not enough of them manning the phones and the online option just cannot answer the hard questions.ken S.

The u box was delivered on time, was clean and had pads inside. When it was in storage, I needed to get something out and they were very accommodating. When I rented the u box I was told the delivery fee was $79.00 to deliver it to be filled and $79.00 when returned to get your belongings out. When it was returned to get my belongings out they said the delivery fee is $150.00. After my protest they lowered to $99.00 which is still $ 20.00 more than the initial agreement. I believe this is unethical at the least and possibly illegal to change pricing in the middle of a contract. Do yourself a favor and pay attention to what you are paying with this company.DENNIS G.

My Uhaul experience with the Grandview, Missouri location was great. It was far superior to my experience with the North Fort Myers, Florida location. My box in Florida did not arrive on the day it was scheduled to arrive. There was no communication as to when it would arrive. I had to call many times (4 times) to get any information and the information was not correct. I also had to wait an average of 30 minutes each time I called in order to talk to someone. I would highly recommend that the well run Grandview location shares their business model of quality service with the North Fort Myers location.Theresa J.

Uhaul delivery was made 1 hour after our initial delivery window. The ladies that picked up and dropped off the containers were great, even when it was pouring down rain. There was also 0 flexibility on wanting to continue to use 1 or more of the uboxes, but returning several. We were able to get everything moved in, but I found it very weird that you guys wanted all the business(full contract), or nothing. We very well could have kept one of those unboxes for another 2 months.Taylor V.

Everyone I spoke to seemmed as though I was bothering them. I was initially told that the first pickup could be done at 3:30 on July 15th and then received a call from the driver saying that her manager said to pick them up right away. The driver showed up as we raced to fill the last box. The driver stood by and timed us. We had several bags of pads left over and informed the driver that we didn't need them. She informed us that she didn't have room and that we needed to drop them off at the closest uhaul location. This added to our stress of moving....having to find a friend with a truck large enough to load the pads. Then, after the boxes were dropped off at the new location, I requested a pickup date of August 14th. I called the night before to confirm the pick up. The agent told me that the pickup date was the 15th.. Ii explained that my contract stated the 14th. She argued with me. I told her that I could send her the contract. She would not listen. Make the entire ordering experience easier. The uBox infomercial is extremely deceiving. I was under the impression that I enter my info and uHaul/uBox does the rest. First surprise was that the amount was broken into three parts and not deducted after everything is completed as stated on the commercial. Second surprise is that the moving companies that are recommended through MovingHelp (that works with uHaul/uBox) are not competent enough to do their job. The moving company KC Movers started our communication by asking me if they could change the delivery date. When I was okay with date change and not hot tempered about it, my calm demeanor was questioned. At that time, I was never informed that because my movers needed to change the date, I needed to update my reservation. Fast forward to the delivery date. I receive a text from the movers (specifically Mike Kohlberg) requesting I send them the address to the storage facility because HE LEFT THE PAPERWORK AT WORK. I provided the address I had but suggested he confirm with his info. He argued that I should know where my stuff is stored so I should confirm. When I explained that the paperwork for work at work is probably needed and is professional (since he asked why it was a [big deal] to have the paperwork or not); he replied with "Alright lady, call [another company] ... " And refused to answer my calls! After much frustration and tears, Moving Help contacted KC Movers and they fulfilled the moving request... two days later. Yes, Mike Kohlberg was apologetic for his brief lapse in common sense. He also made up for not being professional via text by being professional and super efficient in person. Would I use KC Movers again??? I really don't know. Mike and Dan were very pleasant and professional in person but I don't understand why he was so angry in the first place. I understand that moving is a hard job (that's why I hired movers) Everyone has a bad day. But you don't speak to people like that. Maybe he thought I was just a girl that was so laid back from California that he could ignore me and I would let it go... I'm not Elsa. As for uHaul/uBox... will I use this service again. ABSOLUTELY NOT. This has been such a headache. If I wanted this much frustration, I would've moved on my own. Thank God I have all of my stuff but it could have been a much easier process. Remove that infomercial or be more transparent on exactly what the process is.Chilah H.
Blue Springs Uhaul was satisfactory. I did however need to track down my refund on the unused container that was picked up empty. Not a big issue and was resolved quickly a month later when I realized I had not received my refund check. The next issue started when I found a place in Chicago. I called to set up my delivery to my new apartment around mid -July. I called the 800 number, all the staff was very helpful., however, I was initially told that my box could be there on the 25th. I explained that I would not be in Chicago until the 28th or 29th and wanted to arrange delivery on the 30th of Aug. The gentleman I spoke with in Chicago (I believe) who said that would be no problem. I was then told to arrange a time with the movers and I was all good. I called the movers and was told to text the details I did, with my name, 30th Aug, my number, etc. Then on Sunday the 26th I get a call from them asking what time was I available to move that very same day. So I found out from the movers that Uhaul had not in fact arrange my move on the day I requested and told I needed to call them to fix that.. I then spent over 90 min on hold, transferred, accidentally hung up on, and still unable to reach the people I needed in Chicago who could fix my problem. Jenn from Uhaul cares fixed that after I expressed my frustration on Twitter. So then on the day of my move, a representative from Avondale Chicago calls to tell me that he needs to charge me for a rental agreement to release my box to the movers! At this point, I become furious because of all the previous situations and he assures me that he will charge me to satisfy the legal agreement so he can send my Ubox and that he will immediately refund me since I am not storing my box. This was on the 31st. I've waited a few days now and there is no refund. So now I have to call again. To say the least, I am not pleased with the overall experience.lisa B.

I'm giving this facility 1 star based on one factor. I ordered a certain size & they failed to mention they were giving me a smaller size plus another size to "add together" . Then they only gave me ONE room number. It took 3 trips to find this out. On top of it I lost my 1 month free because I cancelled my Uhaul rental truck (went with another company) BECAUSE UHAUL DID NOT HAVE MY RENTAL TRUCK (I needed a 26' and all they could come up with at time of pick up was a 15' while moving from a different state.) I visited the office location one week prior to actually moving in. I selected and paid for a storage unit then. When I arrived at the storage facility to move in, I did not have access to the location. We pressed the help button because we had no idea what was going on. The person on the other end was rude in their communication with us. They ASSUMED that we did not have access due to non-payment and said we needed to come to the office location to get things straightened out. We attempted to get more information about what they specifically needed from us and asked for their name to make sure we spoke to the same person. They hung up on us and would not answer the phone when we pressed the call button again. When I arrived at the office, I asked for a manager. Another employee, who was not a manager, attempted to help me but found nothing in the system at all. The manager said he would help when he was finished with the person he was working with. I recognized his voice as the rude person from the help call button. The more appropriate thing was probably to have the employee finish with them if it was not an issue a manager specifically needed to handle. When the manager did finish and being helping me, he found that the issue was on their end which made it extremely rude that he said the issue was non-payment which was not true at all. He also told a young,black woman who had been nothing but helpful that it was something that she had done. It's completely fine to teach employees but the delivery was rude and seemed more like pointing blame than helping her learn. As a patron, I was offended by the way that was handled. The manager did get everything fixed. As he was giving me the first month free, he acted as if he was doing me a favor. In reality, I was entitled to a free month because I had rented a Uhaul truck and a free month of storage is part of the current promotion. Additionally, neither time that I visited this Uhaul location was I offered recurring payments or online account setup for my storage unit. I had to ask for recurring payments to be set up on my credit card. This is poor customer service in general. Every customer who gets a storage unit should be offered recurring payments and told about online account setup. I have used this Uhaul location numerous times in the past and never had a problem. With this one experience, I have a hard time considering recommending this location to any or using it again largely due to the manager's actions. I can understand and empathize with an employee who is learning making a mistake. What I have the issue with is how the manager originally spoke to my family and I as well as how he spoke to the employee who made the mistake.Cara C. | First Impressions

Quality control of the containers themselves to ensure the rickety hinges and latches actually attach to the plywood would be nice. After recognizing the faulty latch issue on the first day, NOT having management recommend roadside assistance to fix the quality control issue of the box would be nice. NOT messing up and changing the details of my order 3 times without my knowledge would be nice. NOT telling me that my box is going to the correct location when the online account shows it is NOT scheduled to arrive at my listed address from my original order would be nice. I will not be using UBOX service again. It's a nice thought to have personal belongings stored and moved with one service, but logistics was a nightmare with the location in my area (Grandview, MO).DrPaul G.

I'm not 100% positive who we dealt with on the payment for the move of the Uboxes and for the rent for month of July but definitely need to work on customer service skills. Never returned calls, an employee was snotty and said we would have to call back for manager, kept having to repeat information while on phone. This was my first time to rent from self service location. I was not told on the phone when I made reservation that I had to Create an account. I was called 5 minutes before my pick up time to sit in the parking lot and go though all the painful unfriendly application on my phone that took me an hour before I got the key. To improve: Mark the self service location clearly and have the reservation team explain this up front. I am not sure if I want to do self service any more although the return process was not badashraf A.

Both drivers I worked with in Temecula and Olathe, were excellent. The only drawback with both of them in my opinion, is neither has a very good estimate of time arrival given to me. They were always off by a good hour or more, even when being my next stop at times. But I would recommend to anyone and have for the total experience.john D.
