I rented a larger, open top, utility trailer and since I professionally haul a single axle trailer everyday at work, I thought my truck was good to go. Check in went fine but when it came time to hook up, my receiver ball was too big (2-5/8) which is standard for most trailers. The guy helping me said "we only use 1-7/8" to 2" balls for all our trailers" and then I spent another half hour waiting in line again to purchase a 1-7/8" ball. I was very frustrated at that point but when we finally got the trailer on and went to go hook up lights, I only have a 7 pin hook up, which again is an industry standard. Once again the guy told me, "all of our trailers are 4 pin hook ups," so I once again had to go stand in line a second time to purchase an adapter for another half hour. They were very busy and I was trying my best to practice patience, the guy helping me was sincere in his efforts. However, if all of this information had been clearly printed up front and in plain sight when I made the reservation, I could've saved myself an hour and a half headache and an extra $50, because I had both of those items at home. Now I have two of each of them because they were used and I couldn't return them. How about a little more communication of this stuff and a little less of trying to sell me useless things I don't need.

i ordered a 10' truck and was given an 15' truck. This is NOT an upgrade! This is probably the third time this has happened to me at Uhaul. If I wanted or needed a 15' truck i would have reserved it. Now I'm paying more for gas (larger vehicle) and parallel parking just got harder. Every single time people.

I rented a truck for a 9am pickup. When I got there, the line was 7 people deep and I had to wait almost 30 minutes before I could talk to a human. Staff is definitely not motivated - very slow and lethargic. Only one person was processing pickups - the other was mired is some long, irritating issue with a customer. Slightly frustrating for people who need to get up and get going on a big move. Waiting that long is unacceptable - get more staff and train them to process faster.

I was given a truck so low on gas that we weren't sure it would make it to a gas station. The online check in system didn't work at all. I had to make an extra trip back to the store because they forgot to include the dolly. Overall, no one seemed at all bothered by this, business as usual at this location I guess.

45 minute wait to pick up a reserved truck is ridiculous.

Fire all the management, retrain the old staff up to a reasonable level of competency, and hire new management that cares about the customer satisfaction and service. Should the old staff not be able to meet reasonable management expectations, replace them with people who are not below par. Approx 20 minute wait from door to counter, then from 9:04 when the reciept was printed to 9:56 either waited in line behind people being served by ONE employee doing the hookups, or being told to wait in areas of ANOTHER LOT where there was no employees visible. I did happen to see one employee go on, and return from what I assumed was his break. After waiting approx 15 minutes behind the car in front of me, the employee informed me that "that equipment is over in another lot" and then proceeded to hook up the vehicle behind me, rather than accomodate my equipment rental in a timely manner. It is unacceptable to me as a customer to wait nearly an hour in a parking lot to watch people who were behind me, to be ultimately served in front of me. After all was said and done, idle conversation with my neighbor revealed that this was an ongoing problem at this location, and that if I had told him prior that I was renting from this location...he would have advised me to go to a more distant, yet more competent business. This is either failure of the management team to uphold current employees to a level of reasonable competency that has soured the business in the public eye, or a failure of the trademark owner to ensure that piss-poor customer service has not become their current standard of business.

I went to pick up my trailer at the original location which was Pleasant Hill Auto Sales there was no Transport Trailer there waiting for me they didn't have one after I made a reservation and the people over there were very rude then I called the locator number and they were able to find me a trailer down on Marginal Way which is a U-Haul hub I ended up waiting there half the morning while they repair the tire on the trailer so I would say overall that my experience was horrible but after waiting for hours I finally got my Transport Trailer I think you guys need to work on having better equipment available when we make reservations and I think you need to have talks with your independent contractors about being rude to your customers and I also think that $400 is a ridiculous price to rent a trailer for 2 days to call from Maine to Louisville Kentucky do you have any questions you can give me a call 207-206-9158

3rd time Maine Traffic out of Bangor has caused issues w reservation. Despite all wording on website & confirmation emails of it being a RESERVATION, they changed the time available less than 24 hrs before claiming it was only ever a 'preferred time.' Turns out, the prior user had not returned the truck to the correct location and they have zero backup equipment for any margin of error such as this. The location mngr was helpful to get a truck at the original time however only after extended discussion in person. Onsite day of pickup was told we had to wait in line to get the key despite using the truck share app which specifically says to go to the side of the counter to skip the line. And finally while waiting in said line, witnessed employees who were cleaning trucks smoking in the truck while moving them on the lot. This was my 23rd time moving w Uhaul, 3rd and hopefully last with this traffic department.

I am rather disappointed that ivwas charged extra mileage when I had more gas in it than when I rented the truck. Maybe it would be a nice gesture to let the customer know that you see they went a certain amount of miles over (my charge was just over $7) but you also see they had returned the truck with more gas than at pick up, so the charge for the miles can be waived. I'm sure I won't get my money back and I'm not going to cry over $7 but it would have been a nice customer experience to have it happen for someone else

I got there and there were only two employees working. There was a line of about 15 people and I had to wait over half an hour to find out the size truck I reserved was not available. When I got up to the counter the man was very pleasant and nice, so that was not an issue. I asked him if I could change the location I of where I was dropping off the truck. He said that was fine, I asked two more times before I left, do you need to update my contract to reflect the new drop off location. He said no that he had put a note in my profile that I was dropping it off there for my convenience. I asked him does the rate change because I'm dropping off at another location and he said no. So I head on my way. I get to my destination and then go to drop off at the Augusta location. I go inside, neither one of the employees are wearing masks. They come out look at the truck and say “this says you're dropping off in Portland” and I said “yes the gentleman said I could drop off here for my convenience” he said no he couldn't do they, so they tried to contact Portland, they couldn't get a hold of anyone. So after waiting for about 45 minutes. They said I have two options, to drive the rental back or pay $275 for them to take it. So I decided to drive it back because that is an absurd price to drop off, which is something that uhaul is meant for. My own personal vehicle had to be driven both ways for no reason. This was such a horrible experience and I'm still very upset about the whole situation. The customer service could be worked on greatly at the Augusta store. There were several customers who came in dropping off who just wanted a receipt and the men said oh you'll get and email. But it was clear that they were worried about their charges and the men just said you'll only get charged what you used. That doesn't make anyone feel right. They have the right to know what they'll be charged then. I also got charged $44 more than when I was originally told. The man said my total was $78, but by the end of the day it was $122 and after the horrible day just trying to get the truck returned I didn't have the energy to ask where the extra charge was.

Giorgi Chechelashvili, the gentleman that checked me out and back in with my trailer rental is a true gem. I would rent from uhaul just because of Giorgi! Great employee. I felt it was important to point out the positive as opposed to the negative. There is enough negative as it is. Giorgi is a positive!

Keep track of your rentals especially the return get mileage and check fuel and have customers go in to close out the rental. My rental was not good, checking in was not done and wasn't told to go in to the counter to close the rental.

Hire more people, give them better pay and benefits so they stick around. I have used UHaul services for two recent moves, and in both cases the booking, pickup and drop off arrangements were haphazard and important details were omitted. My advice to customers would be: book early and stop by your pick up location (do not call!) To verify dates, charges, and details in person. Make sure the correct details are reflected in your online account, and don't assume that just because you booked a pick up in x city on Saturday afternoon, that location is OPEN on saturdsyafternoo. Call ahead to your drop off site and verify the actual address and hours of operation. Do not take anything for granted. The employees are over extended, unsupported, and unfamiliar with all the UHaul working parts. Calling the 800 # gets you a national call center and you may wait on hold for 20-40 min.

The online sign-in on the app is a total joke. I wasted a bunch of time downloading it after making an online reservation. At the location, the app then required me to reenter a bunch of the same stuff, which was aggravating. But worst of all, I STILL couldn't just jump into the van I rented and go. I still had to wait in line inside because the van that the app had selected for me wasn't available. It says "skip the line," but there's nowhere at this location to do that—no human standing by for this supposed fast transaction to take place. Because the van wasn't available, I stood at the counter while a rep entered much of the same stuff in and tried to find a van for me. This is the kind of aggravation that makes me want to not come back.

I was very disappointed to see how sloppy your service agents were about mask wearing. When I came in to pick up the truck I had reserved, there were 3 employees behind the counter. 2 men had their masks pulled down to their chins and the woman waiting on me was wearing such a loose mask that it never covered her nose and frequently exposed her mouth as well. Perhaps your company doesn't take covid19 seriously, but I do and I'm sure other customers do as well. If you want to stay in business, you should care about protecting your customers with safe practices.

Quickly action take on the client who does make the appointment to help then to move on also. And keep focus on the follow up, u-haul should sell the gift card to help those who use cash to pay it and use it.

If you check in online beforehand, there should be a separate line from people who walk off the street. Wendy was great and it shows that she loves her job. She gave great customer service.

There was a lack of rentals and restrictions on drop off only locations that where unreasonable financially along with extra mileage. Followed the online profile/payment and had to wait an hour; we located trailer in parking lot which was unclean with manure. Had to be washed with no other trailer available. Left feeling as a customer that I was accommodating U-Haul. All where professional except one person's out of line outburst.

There was a dirty tire in my van and I was transporting an ivory-colored sofa. The oil needed changed and the one tire needed air. I picked up the van an the gas gauge was below 1/4 tank. I talked with the person at the site (even though I was attempting to pick-up using my phone only) and also called a representative and they both required me to fill it up to 1/4 tank to return it without a $30.00 fee. I did that to avoid the fee, but essentially put more gas in the van than I actually used. Two of four people that I spoke with didn't have masks on, but it wasn't the woman's fault. She got called in the moment she was walking in the door to help me. She didn't even have a moment to clock in. The two people that I worked most closely with (to get the keys and to check-out) were very pleasant. Thanks to the woman at the end who reassured me about the charges. She did show me a receipt of $45, because she said there would be a credit of $7.50, but then her phone died so she said she would do it by computer later. Now I am being charged more--$52. Overall, I was able to use the van for what I needed it for, but it was not the quality that I expected and it was a frustrating experience.

Despite making the reservation online, I still waited 40 minutes to be helped. At which time I repeated everything online, seeming redundant. I was then charged for the insurance I had opted out of online and in store. The clerk could not undo that charge so I had to return to waiting for the other clerk. After 15 more minutes of waiting for this to be corrected she told me I was good to go, the charge had been canceled. I was still charged. I then had to call when I saw I had still been charged. I was on hold for 10+ minutes and was told I could make a request for reimbursement or talk to someone directly at the location. I chose to talk to someone. I was put back on hold for 10 more minutes and then someone that once again was not at the location picked up. Both individuals explained that there was no note and nothing in the computer indicating the clerk has ever removed any charge. So I was sent to customer service to make a claim. Lots of waiting and run around.

Enterance to the facility was so confusing, we gave up and parked on the road. A 20' truck was reserved, but not available. As a result I had to leave behind about $2000 worth of belongings because they would not fit in the 15' truck that was available. Haha, of the $50 comp I was offered, look for a complaint to corporate at a minimum. I would sue in small claims if it were practical, you guys owe me $2000.

Reserved online but the app didn't work at pick up. It kept saying we were in the wrong location when we weren't. So I went inside to talk to someone. She had her mask only covering her mouth not over her nose. She was nice but gave us the wrong parking spot for our rental. We had to go back and get someone to mark previous damage. On the way out I noticed the gas level and mileage were wrong so I called it in. A nice person said she'd make a note on our file. On return it took 30 minutes to find someone who could confirm the adjusted numbers and give us a final receipt. We were the only customers there during this time. Overall it worked out but it was a lot of extra effort on our part to make it happen.

I used the online 24/7 to rent and pick up the van. Whe n I arrived at the Uhaul, I couldn't find the vehicle. I told the app I couldn't find it and it assigned another one. I couldn't find that one. Then it told me to go to second uhaul lot that I did not know existed. I went there and found the original van. Then I couldn't find the keys for the van. One of the Uhaul workers who could barely speak English told me the keys were in some sort of lock box. I had no code for a lock box. I then had to go into the Uhaul store and speak to a clerk who looked up my order and gave me the key. It took longer than expected to get the vehicle. Perhaps if you're going to offer 24/7 pickup and drop off, you should somehow make the key available. The clerk in the store said they don't keep the keys inn the vehicles. That doesn't make sense if you're going to offer 24/7 pick up and drop off.

This was the easiest rental ever! I ordered my uhaul cargo van the night before I needed it. Showed up to the location- employees were very courteous and helpful! I wish I could remember the guy's name behind the register, because he was super knowledgeable and explained everything to me in a timely yet efficient manner! My van was ready, everything was clean- the van drove beautifully! The drop off was great as well (same location) there was a very kind gentleman that met me at my van, took my keys and drove the van away for me! I absolutely would go back to this location for future needs. I dont have a truck so getting furniture for my new apartment is already an annoyance , but they made it so much easier! Thanks y'all!

The last two experiences at this location have been terrible for pickup. In August there was only 1 person available first things Saturday morning. This most recent visit the computer system was not functioning. Both times took 45 minutes to get the vehicle. The customer service reps are friendly and professional but the other issues are making it hard to return back.

So we went to Saco as scheduled and they were very nice but they did NOT have the equipment we wanted (after waiting int a long line). So we had to drive to Portland Maine to get our truck and trailer. Portland was nice too but very slow. Took at least a half hour (no line). Then Portland did not point out they changed our St Augustine drop off location so we went tot he wrong return place first.

Ryan Lent waited on me several times over the past month when I was there for vehicle rentals and returns, and purchasing moving supplies. Ryan was also there on the day I moved my belongings into the storage unit. Ryan walked me to the unit, assisted with the lock, explained the process. I used the uhall drive up storage units in downtown Portland Maine for 3 months. The units were not clean when I took possesion and by design are not well sealed from environmental polution, risk of contamination from adjacent units. On a number of occasions while I was accessing my unit for storage, I noticed people that were using there unit as “tiny homes” smoking, lounging, napping even in their unit.

STAY AWAY!!! They play games after games after games. There is no GM so it's the wild west! They DO NOT honor their own benefits that you pay for that is CLEARLY LISTED ON THEIR SIGNS! They wanna be nosey and watch you with you OWN STUFF. Multiple complaints fall on deaf ears. And if you complain about their crappy service they wnd up taking more of your benefits away but keep charging you the same rate. Multiple complaints to corporate with ZERO resolution. They you feel like your doing something wrong for using the storage unit THAT YOU PAY for. Place is absolute joke!!! I went right down the road to a competitor with NO hesitation. What a complete waste!!!

Unfortunately, neither was correct - and the stairs were small and would not have allowed us to move in some of our larger items. All the folks at the store were awesome and very helpful.

You need more staff, more parking, more and easier access to interior storage with more bays and more carts, MORE DIRECT ACCESS TO TRAINED AND INFORMED PHONE/COUNTER STAFF. Hire cheap get cheap. Usually young. IMPORTANT: I talked to 2 employees on the call-center line and neither had accurate or satisfactory information both of which was vital and time-sensitive. Third individual had the right info and assurances. I fell on ice on street where I was forced to park because the U-Haul lot was full of trucks and vans on a slow Sunday morning. You charge for EVERYTHING connected to your business. The least you can do is to provide a commensurate service. Doing otherwise labels you as arrogant because you are the "only game in town". Your attitude is "take it or leave it". Have heard it more than once. Now I know first-hand.
