I was simply dropping off a trailer from a one way trip. Had to wait 30 minutes for somebody to rearrange units so there was room for me to leave the trailer. Nobody had on anything that looked like a uniform so couldn't tell who was employees. Customers waiting everywhere and personal vehicles blocking access.James G.

I scheduled the pickup in Madison and went to that location only to find out they had moved the pickup location. They said they called and texted but I had no missed calls and zero texts. This has happened before and I should have expected the same issue to happen again. If you say you call then call. Most of the miles I put on the truck we're driving to the new far away location. I rated this Uhaul excellent only because of the customer service I received. There were only 2 folks working on a really busy Sunday morning with 10 people in line. Both were efficient and professional while trying to handle the line, help customers with hitches in 90 degree weather, and be positive.Shannon B.

The cab of the 15' truck smelled like cigarette smoke, and was filthy. There was a beverage spill that made it onto the ceiling, and the bag with the blankets and the dolly already had the seal broken. It was obviously not cleaned at all between me and the custer before. I just hope I wasn't charged for that.George T.
Parking/getting around the lot is a bit of a nightmare, but the staff were wonderful, the truck was ready on time and was clean and well kept, and the return was super easy.John L.
We rented for less than two months and mice had infested the unit. Mouse bait was placed in the unit. Lots of feces and a dead mouse was found on our couch. The couch had holes in it due to mice. The property is dirty with lots of trash in the parking lot. Its in a sketch part of town. The bathroom smelled like urine from the floors and no soap in the dispenser. The University Drive location was fine but very understaffed and I had to wait about 30 minutes to get help with my return. Additionally, the original recommended return location that was sent to me via text (3002 N. Memorial Pkwy, Huntsville, AL 35811) was not open on Sunday (however the website for this location said they were open 1-5pm on Sunday) and I was not comfortable leaving the trailer in the lot. So this all added up to a less than satisfactory return experience.ROBERT F.

Please notify customers quickly and conveniently when their preferred pickup location changes!! We arrived at our pickup time/location only to find out it had changed (within the past two hours) to a location 50 minutes in the wrong direction. Luckily someone else had cancelled at our preferred location, so we escaped unscathed. We had no idea! The confirmation phone call even confirmed our preferred location was still correct.Austin M.

Way too little help. It's a busy location due to the University across the street and they are simply overwhelmed. Also, U-Haul tries to get you to work online and that leads to a lot of scheduling and system issues.Terry F.

The physical location experience was more than expected. on the other hand the online experience with U-Haul left everything to be desired, IT SUCKED. no working phone numbers, agents that would not answer the phone, agents that didn't care if they rented equipment or not, no search engine to find specific equipment. It is the best Uhaul I've ever dealt with reservation was very easy and they answered all my questions and help make sure I had all my equipment and graciously accommodated me when needing to add extra equipment after dispatch it was well maintained and cleaned quite excellently and the management and employees there are way above average especially that GM they have very understanding to last minute changes in plansLUCAS B.

This U-haul facility was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. However, the reservation was originally made at the U-haul storage on Spartman drive and it was given to someone else that morning and they didn't have any other units available. So they sent me to this one on University drive. I was very disappointed that the storage unit I reserved had been given away and that I had to drive to another location.ANNA M. | First Impressions

I paid for a dolly and didn't get it. I realized I never got it when I made it to my destination. The employee stated the truck is around the corner and I went to find the truck. I never saw a dolly.TARA C.
First of all, there are not enough people working at the University Dr. store to meet the volume of customers. Secondly, I have never heard of any storage unit that requires the customer to purchase the storage company's lock, so I did not appreciate being threatened with having the lock I purchased for the unit I was provided cut off if I didn't purchase a U-Haul circular lock. It's bad enough that U-Haul has some of the highest rates for storage units that I have ever seen, but to feel pressured to spend money on the company's circular lock is especially horrible. It didn't help that I saw other units that did not have the U-Haul circular locks on them. There was also some confusion about the terms of the one month's worth of free storage. I was told by two U-Haul representatives that I qualified for a month's worth of free storage with no stipulations added or explained in either case. If the unit was not offered for free, I would never had bothered using a U-Haul storage unit. Finally, as I answered in the introductory questionnaire, no, I would not ever recommend a U-Haul storage facility to anyone.Andrea G. | First Impressions

These folks are the WORST communicators ever....meaning NO COMMUNICATION WHATSOEVER. They delivered the wrong box to my house, two days late, with no advanced notice besides a guy calling saying that he was in front of my house. After that was corrected, they billed me for box storage a week after my box had been emptied and returned......and told me I would be autobilled for succeeding months. A backup plan for processing orders should be in place. When I arrived at the Governor's Dr. location, their computer was down and I had to go to another location (on University Dr.). Everything went smoothly at the University Dr. location from pick up to drop off.Garry M.

The truck and trailer were excellent and pulled really well. My only complaint is with the tailgate. I rented a 6'x12' trailer to haul a x500 JD with a 54" deck. I didn't measure the tailgate, but I would say about 5' is all it is. I'll definitely rent from again despite that. I was impressed with the truck and trailer and cost.MERRILL B.

Specifically told them where I needed to drop off and that helped zero. First uhaul was a mini mart and the rep wanted info personal security codes on Credit card, address , kept saying it was all wrong on his screen. How does he know if my addy is wrong or not. very unprofessional and I felt a scam in the mist. How he was approved to deal with the public repping you is crazy... this place was litterally in the projects and there was all sorts of business happening outside with drug dealers.. The most ridiculous place to send your customers. Stop 2 right before pulling in I get a call to go to last stop where I waited and waited. then the info was was entered wrong. On monday I call uhaul , I attempted to but for almost 3 hours no one answers out of 20 timesthen finally and I am told the managers will call me back in a few mins. It was a few hours and I had to call him to initiate a change in drop off. anf the only reason I tried calling yet again was because the damn trailer dolly locked up for no reason at all. Finally because even the manager did not know what to do I finally took the locking device apart on the side of the road and took it to where it was dropped at a U-Haul. And the lady there is the only rep who actually did what she said she would and that was email me a receipt because I was not willing to wait . She gets 5 stars. but the rest of you can kiss my assJOHN T.

On the day we came to empty our storage units we found rat feces all over our belongs and that our household items were destroyed. As we worked to go through our packages we found 4 rats in our boxes and amongst our belongings. When we asked for assistance we were rudely dismissed and told "file a claim" and given a pamphlet. When we called the number to customer service we were on hold for over two hours and eventually ended the call once our movers loaded all of the items we could take home. Thankfully we didn't take any rats to our new home, however we lost a lot of items we needed and ended up spending much more money to replace items i.e. towels, dishes, sheets, a loveseat and a recliner, wires for our surround sound system which had been eaten through. I would never recommend this storage place, it is not well maintained and there is no reprieve for your damaged items.Virginia K. | Overall Experience

Staff was exceptional and the location (office, lots, and storage area) were well organized, clean, and maintained. One downside is that access is limited to only times when staff is available due to a key sign-out procedure; this impacted my plans greatly when I planned to remove items from storage at 5PM on 25 May to place in my new home (closed on it 26 May). On 22 May I personally spoke with the site manager and confirmed that the site would be open for regular hours on 25 May. Unfortunately in the morning of 25 May the site manager decided to close the site early that day, thereby constraining me to waiting until the weekend to retrieve and use my stored household goods - because I stored a lot, I could not clear out the storage into a trailer, move the trailer, unload the trailer at home, and return the trailer during a 24-hour period until the weekend. This unpublished impromptu closure negatively affected my family. Please decide upon and post / publicize non-standard hours at least two weeks in advance in order to facilitate customer planning.John Z. | Overall Experience
