I called Pelham location to make reservation but call was redirected to a call center. I requested a truck to move furniture with and told person how big the biggest piece was (90 inches long). He said a 10 ft truck should be fine. And it was but HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT TRUCK DOES NOT HAVE A RAMP !?!?!?! I don't rent trucks. This was a first. I thought ALL U-Haul's have ramps. How was I supposed to load and unload furniture from a 4 foot high deck,????? The manager at Pelham said "You should have asked" that's stupid. Did I have to ask if it has tires?!! Lesson learned from this highly inconvenient experience. I will def tell everyone I know how truly unhelpful Pelham location is. I had to hire people to unload truck. When a ramp would have alleviated all that. MORE expense. Thanks for nothing U-Haul.CELESTE G.

My reservation was changed, and when I arrived to my original location they told me my reservation was changed. Said they tried to call me and email me, but they did not. Said they had the wrong phone number and email, but I don't know how because I got a confirmation for the original reservation. I don't know how this happened, but it was extremely stressful on moving day. Thankfully we were able to get things sorted out. The vehicle we used- we were afraid I was going to break down. The truck kept stalling, and wouldn't go above 50 miles per hour. Truck made a lot of weird noises. Wasn't really happy with my experience. Also the only Way to get a pick up from the location that I wanted was if I changed my drop off. Told me I would have to pay more or this option. Didn't offer me any kind of discount after the trouble I went through. Still said I would be charged more. Not sure if I would use uhaul again.Kaylee B.

The original truck I wanted had an issue with the tire, we opted for another one and it was clean but smelled and ultimately rented a different size. The one we rented was not swept out in back, other than that it was fine. Jeremiah and Bailey were helpful. Will recommend.DONNA M.

I was moved to two different locations before I was able to get the vehicle. The call I received to notify me that the pickup location was changed only came after driving to one part of town and was rudely told that I should be at another location. When I reached the new location I was finally called to notify me that my pickup location had changed. The cargo van was dirty and stink. This was a very poor experience for me.ORRET B.

This location changed my pick up time the day before I was scheduled to pick up the truck. Luckily the helpers I requested to help with the move was able to come at the new time. Then I got another call an hour before pickup saying the truck I reserved was not available and they were going to give me 26' truck instead the 15' I reserved. When we got to the pick up location the truck I needed came in and I was able to use it. This was a big inconvenience that could've been avoided if I knew ahead of time and not the day before I am scheduled to move.John C.

I would recommend this location to anyone needing a rental truck/trailer. Joy sent me a text verifying drop off date/time and when I said that wouldn't be made, she updated everything to make sure notes (left out previously) were added which alleviated any added stress of having to drop off earlier than needed or possible. Definitely made up for part of the fiasco of the pick up the day before.ANDREW L.

In person, I was told that my truck was too small to rent a 6x12 open trailer. So I left and called the 800 number. On the phone with uhaul, they didn't have a problem with it, and simply read some precautions. Then made the reservation for me. Then I walked back into the location and was able to rent that same trailer. It sends like this should be standardized one way or the other.BRETT C.

I left the Pelham location and drove less than a mile to my storage unit. We loaded the truck and started to leave and the truck wouldn't start. We called to let them know and they told us they had been having trouble with the truck and we just needed to wiggle the key around and it would crank. We tried multiple times and it would not start. I asked them to just bring us another truck because we had a long trip ahead, and we were told that once we drove off the lot the truck was our problem! They were SO RUDE!! We had not even driven the truck one mile!!! We were told to call roadside assistance and THEY would find us another truck! We still had over 100 miles to drive that day to unload the truck! When roadside assistance arrived he determined the starter needed to be replaced! We asked how long it would take to get another truck and he said that was not his responsibility! He said it was only his job to tow the truck! We called the store back and after back and forth for over TWO HOURS, the tow truck took us back to the store along with the truck and we were given another vehicle, which they had previously told us they could not do, and they offered ZERO HELP as my daughter and I unloaded the truck we had just loaded, and loaded the second truck! I couldn't believe how hateful and inconsiderate they all were! I had always used this Pelham location but I will NEVER go there again!!! Worst Uhaul location ever!!!Melodee R.

I'm rating this location 5 stars based on the customer service I received from Joy (I'm assuming this was her name because it's on the receipt, but she was the manager of the location and the only person I dealt with so if this isn't her name it should be fairly easy to identify who helped me on the morning of the 3rd and 4th as they were the only employee there at the time). I had an issue with my rental where it wasn't ready for me before opening hours and I had to wait 2 hrs until the store opened. Joy took time to apologize and work with me to resolve the issue in an understanding and professional manner. While I was extremely upset with my initial experience by being delayed 2 hours, I was more than satisfied with the overall experience based on Joy's exceptional service. I would absolutely recommend the location to a friend, I would simply tell them to â€œAsk for Joyâ€!STEFAN F.

Not utilized the location at 4607 AL-25, Montevallo, AL 35115. I was lied to about a truck availability that was never going to show. An hour and thirty minutes of mine/ours time lost. No apologies or concern for my inconvenience. I would give that location no stars and I would give Pelham location 5 stars. Night and day service.AMAL G.

After speaking with 2 customer service representative about someone to remove auto transport, I get there and no one to remove. I had to get this done by someone else and when I returned the truck and tow dolly the manager made all kinds of excuses. He stated "the customer service is based in Arizona and they don't know anything about the location". The representative advise because it is a center, everyone should be trained on how to remove equipment. Clearly that is not the case. I will not do business there again.Areatha S.

The communication between Ubox and Uhaul seemed to be terrible. We were first tole our boxes would be delivered on Friday. Then Uhaul called and said it would be delivered on Sunday, Spoke to manager locally and she said she did not know why we were told Sunday as there were no deliveries Sunday. I received no notification of this and had to spend a long time on the phone over several call s trying to find out when the U Boxes were delivered, Got a call on Monday saying the 4 Uboxes would be delivered on Monday. I had to ask for a window ans was initially told between midnight and 10 PM. I had to insist on getting that window narrowed down and they did get it narrowed down to 10 AM to 5 PM. The boxes showed up Monday at about 3:300 PM on Monday. There was frustration with the local UHaul people not being communicated with by the national Ubox team. Overall a very frustrating experience. We understand things happen but please communicate to your customers so that they do not waste their time. I had to wait an entire day waiting for boxes that never came even though I was told they would come. I never received a communication until I took the initiative . I never received an apology or any offer of compensation. Uhal was very quick to charge me an additional month on storage of 4 boxes when they they were only held for a couple of day after the 30 days. Yet when they delay me by several days there is apology or compensation from UHaul. Again I understand there can be circumstance that come up but please pick up the phone and communicate.to each other and your customers. Thank You ThanJoel C.

When I got there to move in. The lady stated they did not have anything available. I had made the reservation over the phone. I had to wait until someone moved out that day. In order for me to move in and take their storage unit. That was not a good experience to me.crystal w. | First Impressions
This is a rating for the facility itself. The girls up front took a situation that was horrible by the UHaul.com AND UHaul call center, and turned it in to a pleasant experience. By a miracle, they were able to find the unit I requested and was extremely helpful. For UHaul having a website and a phone number that is directed to a call center, they are NOT unified with the processes and the procedures of each individual locations. If a location is not able to hold a storage unit, then the option should not be provided on the website. This can cause a very big mess when you have a truck of 26' that needs one of the biggest units and it not be available, causing the customer to pay more for a late fee or another day with the truck to search for another storage unit. When calling the call center they will make promises but not back up the promises with the actual location. So makes the location look inadequate when really it is the overhead call center not verifying with the workers on the ground floor. The problem we had was I had a confirmed reservation for the largest storage unit that was made about 2 weeks prior to the arrival. When we arrived we were told that such a unit was NOT available now nor had it been available when we made the original reservation.
