I reserved a ground floor storage area due to the fact I had a 800lb piano to put into storage. When I arrived they told me there were no ground floor storages left. I was very upset as I had a full uhaul to be unloaded!!!! I was given a 4th floor one and it was more expensive. Please see if I can be charged at the original rate I was promised. When returning the vehicle it was noted that I drove 7 miles. I was being charged additional fees because the gas gauge wasn't at the level when I returned it. I explained that the additional fees covered several gallons and that again I drove 7 miles (per the manager's notes). The manager verify this van had a gas mileage of 18 mpg, but insisted that the tank was much lower. I needed to pay for additional gas or file the tank to the level. I left and put a gallon and half (enough for 24 miles). Also, the van was clearly wrecked and there was issues with the door. I spent half and hour trying to open/close the door to get the light to turn off. You have slam the door very hard to get it to lock due to the damage. The overall experience and equipment was poor and I will never return to this Uhaul location again.Koreena M.
I have a driver's license from California and because of that I was asked to provide two references at the counter. I had to call people and "chase" references last minute and had to wake up a friend, which was a big inconvenience. I had already scanned my DL ahead of time, so I suggest that you fix your system to let the person know they will need references as soon as you receive the DL images. ThanksFernanda G.

Met with general manager to set up storage unit 3 weeks before I moved from TX to CA. Communicated to her that I would be storing a couch for a friend to receive since I'd be moving to Cali and my friend would be relocating to Tx in 3 weeks. She never mentioned that would require the friend to be listed as an authorized user. When my friend showed up to retrieve the couch she refused him access since he was not listed as an authorized user. I assumed this would be something simple to resolve. When I called to her to understand how to resolve this, she was extremely rude and told me I should have listed him as an authorized user and offered no solution. She didn't even give me the opportunity to amend the contract to list him as an authorized user nor did she advise me that I could simply go online and add him as an authorized user. Instead, she offered no solution and said he would not be given access at all that day no matter what. After calling corporate (no help) I figured out that I could add my friend as an authorized user online and did so. When my friend returned that same day, she let him have access no problem. This is one of the most disturbing customer experiences I've had at Uhaul. I have spend thousands of dollars at Uhaul in the past couple of years. Offering a customer no solution to a problem that is very simple to solve can be easily avoided and handled more professionally. You can imagine how big of a problem this is for me given that I'm now located in California. The GM made it seem that I would have to fly to Texas just to give him access. This was a nightmare of an experience and I won’t be using Uhaul ever again. On 12/8 I booked a 20’ truck, a tow dolly and a 10’ x 15’ unit on the ground level. When I get to the facility on 1/3 I’m told I can’t drop the equipment off there (even though that’s where I was told to drop it off at) and I don’t have a reservation for a storage unit. Lisa, the facility manager, said she could see what’s available though. Here’s where it gets weird. Lisa found a 10’ x 30’ on the ground level that was “available” but she had to check that it was really available. Why would the system say it’s available when it’s not? The problem is, none of her codes were working so she spent an hour trying to get to the unit. A full hour. 30min of which was spent on the phone talking to the manager, Joi, about things that were completely irrelevant to getting access to the unit. She told me to drop the tow dolly off down the road and come back and she would have a unit ready for me. When I get back, she still hasn’t looked at the 10’ x 30’ unit because of the access code issue. Finally, 1.5hrs later we get to the unit and it’s not available. Then we spend another 30min trying to get to a 10’ x 15’ unit on the 4th floor. We get there and it’s too far back, it wouldn’t work. I booked a ground level unit because it was the only thing that would work for what I was unloading. Meanwhile I have two people I’m paying $100 an hour waiting 2hrs for Lisa to tell me she doesn’t have a storage unit. Finally I decided to book a unit at an Extra Space down the road. It took 5minutes for them to book me a unit. Why was this so difficult for Uhaul? Why wasn’t my reservation in the system and why couldnt the facility manager access the building? Why do you have units showing as “available” when they’re not. This was a major waste of time and money. $200 down the drain because Uhaul dropped the ball. The person helping me at the place said that my debit card wouldn't work and I had to use a credit card to book the van. He also said it wouldn't charge the card and when I went to pay I could choose how to pay. This was completely incorrect and it ended up charging the card without anyway to change.Brandon C.

My first time rented a 3x3x3 unit with U-Haul. When I got to the facility, it was very confusing to know which entrance leading to the whereabouts of my unit. When I finally figured it out & use the elevator to get to the different floors, I was having a hard time locate my unit. I was about to give up & call for cancellation to try a different storage facility, but I was lucky to run into 2 young ladies working for uhaul. On-line process was very easy. The only issue I had was driving around the property itself. One way in and out of the property in an area that is narrow, as is the back road. My unit is in the middle building and it's made narrow by the U-Haul trucks that are parked there. The whole design/layout of the property doesn't make it easy to navigate around, especially if you have a large vehicle or towing something. While moving some items to my unit there was a U-Haul truck being unloaded and it was parked at an angle that I couldn't drive past it as it was blocking the road. I asked the one person if they could back the truck up enough for me to leave and she said they didn't have the key to it, that the person in the office had it.. I ended up having to back up my vehicle and driving around the back to get out as I didn't have time to track that person down. Unit wasn’t ready for move in. Had to wait for customer services and such to get me a new unit when my assigned unit was locked and unable to access. The building smelled and was hot. Most of my problems could have been fixed by the manager simply showing up when they opened and not an hour late (and two phone calls). Also, the requirement for a passport (who the hell brings a passport to rent a vehicle?!) or a second phone number is just stupid. Nowhere else is that a requirement. Finally, the online system is something from the 1990s. It takes way too long to set up and is totally unnecessary. You say getting the truck is 100% automated (excepted you need to jump a 6' fence and Hotwire the truck since you need the key from the office that never opens). I will look for any option for truck rental in the future that is not uhaul. Worst rental experience I have had in my life (and I have rented a lot of trucks).James Alan N.

The person who helped me with my pick up today was great! I've never rented a U-haul before and I was worried the pickup and return process would be long/difficult but she was so efficient and helpful and explained everything so well I felt more at ease understanding how and what was being charged and how to return the van. I've heard people sometimes run into issues like their pickup is delayed or have technology issues but I was able to pick up my rental right on time. I arrived a little early and someone even offered to change my reservation to mobile pick up so I wouldn't have to wait which was so nice and helpful. The van was clean and easy to drive and I'm really happily surprised how good this renting experience was. And after I returned the van my receipt was emailed right away!TIFFANY L.

I had scheduled a pick up for 11am and when I showed up an outside worker informed me that the manager left for an â€œemergencyâ€ and closed the office. She had no ETA and was very rude. I waited in the parking lot for an hour and finally someone showed up. When I walked into the office she had her lunch set up on the counter while helping me check in for my uhaul. When checking in originally, we had an after-hours issue. Desperate, we called the personal cell phone of Joi Scott, the manager (which she had given us). She immediately left her home, after working a full day and it being a late hour, and came back to the facility to help us. Yes, we rate this facility, and its manager, 5 stars. This was my experience. I rented a unit there for about three months or something like that. I went to remove my items and I had many things I was giving to Habitat for Humanity Restore, but they could not get there until the day after my rent was due for the following month. I returned to U-haul and they said that was unacceptable. I told them I was moving out of state and ask them if there was some kind of form I could sign releasing the items that were in the unit and was told no. about 2 months later I received a call from the manager there, she told me I could have signed a release so they could have gotten rid of the items and that would have been the end of it and she sent it to me in the my e-mail. I told her at the time that I had ask to do that when I was there the last time before I left. I received no cooperation from the young man that was there and was told that U-haul did not do that. Long story short I signed the release form e-mailed it back to them and they did nothing with it obviously. I continued to receive bills in the mail and I sent them e-mails stating that I had signed the release for them to dispose of the items however they wished, but they continued to try to bill me for the space until they finally auctioned it off. Something needs to be done with the complete lack of communication at that facility and the obvious disorganization. In one of my e-mails I ask them if they did not receive the form releasing the items to them to dispose of the items left in the space, but they never responded to that. The only reason they could call or send letters was to harass me about paying rent on a unit that I had signed the form releasing to them months and months before. I had two units at this facility. The facility is full of rats. After leaving out poison, we had the mess of removing dead rats and the filth. The office is rarely on property. They leave out a sign that says returning in 1.5 hours and that is usually not correct. We have been stranded inside several times. The last time was for two hours and we called the emergency number using the entry pad with no results. Cars seem to be parked all over the property. I am assuming that they rent spaces to these cars but it makes it hard if not impossible to drive through with a trailer. I have contacted corporate about several matters and they have yet to make any changes. We completely move to of both units to another nearby storage.Holly M. | Overall Experience

Our reservation was for 6:30 PM 7/24 but the truck was not there. No call or text guy locked door on my son as he approached for help. No response to our messages. I waited on hold over 20 minutes cut off. My son waited on hold they redid the reservation at 1/800 number but could not pick up until 9:00AM following day 7/25. Manager was rude said they were inconvenienced not us because the truck was not there and we did not receive a text, email or call. No alternative U-Haul offered. I have rented multiple trucks and trailers from Ugaul and this by far was the worse experience.JACOB S.

The location of the U-haul itself is not so great. There were a lot of homeless people hanging around the area. Why does it say move out date is this week? You locked me out in Fall of 2019 and told me it was too late to get my things. I lost treasured belongings. This was very psychologically damaging. My account wasn't even delinquent at the time. You're now claiming the past 18 months of grieving and suicidal ideation was because an associate lied to me? I didn't have to lose my stuff? This is insult to injury... I will never, ever use your services again. You almost killed me. Over a lie. You almost killed me over a lie. Is it really too late to get my stuff? The staff was super friendly and helpful. While I had gone to get a storage unit my dog ran away. The young man at the front desk was so helpful he set everything up while I went to look for my dog. I threw my money at him and ran off. When I returned he had set up my account and helped me move my stuff. He could've taken my money but didn't. I wish I could remember his name. Only complaints are that I wish I didn't have to fill out a whole new contract since I have a contract / unit there already, and that it was made clearer that "online ready to move in" meant "the lock is already in the unit." Locking handle to unit I was assigned was broken and mangled and made it super frustrating to get in and out without cutting myself. Lady who assigned me the lock was super short with me and even took a personal call while to interrupt me getting my unit. Informed me the day of my truck rental that it was on the other side of the freeway at a different uhaul even though I specifically reserved the truck at this location. I called to speak to a manager it took two weeks to get a hold of Joy. She never called me back. When I finally reached her by phone she gave me her cell and told me to call her back. I text her.
