Spent 45 min looking for the vehicle that was assigned to me through the mobile app. It was not parked in the front as I was shown. Went in to get help and personnel went into locked room next to counters and was chatting with another coworker. I assumed they would have seen me on the camera, but after waiting and listening 5-7 min I knocked on the door and asked for help. Finally got my rental around 4 pm, I asked if I now he's until 4 pm the next day since it took so long to find the vehicle and was told no. But if I found I needed more time to call and they'd adjust my drop off time. I didn't know if that meant I'd be charged or if it was included. We were given a quote on line for $54 and $.79 per mile. We arrived at location to pick up and pay for truck. They said because we were using a debit card, had to pay $100 and that when truck was returned, we would get the difference refunded back to us. We had already put money on the card, enough to cover the original quoted amount. Because there was not enough on card to cover the $100, we ended up having to use the cash that we had planned on using for ... First off, my chosen location DID NOT HAVE THE TRAILER I RESERVED WEEKS IN ADVANCE. So I drove ~20 miles to another location that did have the type of trailer I reserved (Deer Valley in Phoenix, AZ). Once I was there, I asked if I could return the trailer to the location that I had originally placed the reservation for. Unfortunately, the employee working the counter -- I believe, but am not 100% sure that his name was BRANDON -- told me I could not do that. Disgruntledly, I posed the hypothetical, "So you're telling me you guys oversold my reservation and now are going to inconvenience me even more by telling my I have to return it 20 miles out of my way?". Brandon replied with something about an R/O number. I don't care about R/O numbers, I care about the fact that UHAUL's crappy systems ended up costing me HOURS of my DAY OFF. When I expressed such a sentiment, Brandon YELLED BACK at me. Keep in mind that I wasn't asking for a discount or anything of that nature: I just wanted to return the trailer that I had reserved to the location that I had reserved it at. Not one time in my entire life have I been so disrespected by an employee of a company to which I am paying money to for a service. NEVER. This whole interaction took place at approximately 8:30AM in the Deer Valley UHAUL location. I would advise you to take a good look at how you guys treat your customers because that interaction has cemented in me that I will NEVER use a UHAUL product again. I don't care if a competitor is more expensive. You guys run the WORST retail operation that I have ever experienced and your corporate philosophy and/or training materials have yielded literally the worst retail associate that I have ever come across. I don't care if it's moving vans, trailers, hitches, storage, moving supplies...I will NEVER AGAIN USE A UHAUL PRODUCT OR SERVICE. You can thank Brandon for that.Kyle S.

Took me 2 months to get them to set my email up just so I could pay my bill online. They never answer the phone. Change there security door without notifying customers. I rented a 10' box truck that shouldn't have been allowed on the road. The mirrors were so loose that any bump in the road caused them to fall down so rather than seeing around me I could only see the ground. Very dangerous! The alignment was so far off that the truck was very difficult to steer and keep in a lane. And while driving the check engine light came on confirming the lack of maintenance on the vehicle. The truck had a lot of damage and had clearly been in an accident and very poorly repaired. It was not the experience I'm used to with Uhaul. It was very expensive for having such poorly maintained and dangerous equipment. The people were nice, but I can't believed they actually charged me after I told them all of the things that were wrong. It was certainly not an experience worth paying for.Jeffrey S.

When checking in after hours two phones were not able to do the location services. We had moved all day long and I just didn't have it in me to contact customer services so we were probably charged for another day for the vehicle. Is there a way to make sure this doesn't happen? or offer a way around this when trying to check in a vehicle after hours? While the equipment was fine, the check-in process was a nightmare. Whoever designed the hoops evidently does not understand how to create a customer-friendly engagement. For example, since when did the customer have to use their own phone to take a picture of their driver's license? Not even sure a picture is needed if you have the #. Unless, you are requiring this to be sure your employees get the $ right. But that is not the customer's problem. Plus there are many hardware applications that do this instantly. As I was walking toward the rental van, I asked an employee if I just get the rental with my phone. He pointed to the van and nodded, it looked like I was bothering him. I tried signing the van out with my phone and after not figuring it out, I went inside. I asked Tiffany for help and she said the manager is coming in and could help, seeing she was helping another customer. It turned out that the employee I asked outside was the manager, go figure. I made a comment that he didn't help me when I asked and he started arguing with me. He then pointed to go outside for the barcode. I asked where that was and he finally said he'll show me, begrudgingly. When I saw where the barcode was I asked how was I supposed to know that it was there and why he didn't direct me there when I was on my phone by the van. He kept arguing. The barcode didn't work so I had to go inside. Tiffany Poole ending up helping me. She was kind and friendly, unlike the manager. I recommend Tiffany be promoted to manager and at the very least, get a huge raise. Being a business owner myself, it's hard finding good employees and I wouldn't want to lose her. I saw how she took care of the customer before me, she was very accomodating and helpful. She even cheerfully helped me when she saw I was frustrated with the manager. My suggestions are to make it more clear the barcode, self checkout system. Speak to the manager about his attitude. And most importantly, promote Tiffany or at the very least, give her a raise. The timers are the lighting are way to aggressive on shutting off. It's not fun working on unloading items from your cart into your unit, and have the lights go off. Then have to walk down a pitch black hallway to make the lights go back on. Rinse & repeat. Also, checkout process. Followed website directions, took pictures of unit and waited 48 hours. Still pending... Tried calling -- phone number goes to national number, and they would send a message to call back. Never did. Drove back to unit at end of day, waited in line and asked if there was a problem with moving out? They said uhh ohh, let me go look at unit. They did, and finally "moved-out" without issue. Why it took physically driving down there to make it happen, when it could have been done all online is beyond me? If moving out requires you to be there, make it step 1 on the web. First and foremost my interactions with two staff members was fantastic. The gentleman that checked me in and returned my rental trailer was very helpful. The other was Tiffany who showed me to the storage locker was fantastic!! I can tell she enjoys her job and she was very helpful. She is a great employee and really highlighted my experience. As for the facility a have two comments. One, there were no garbage cans that I could find to discard trash. Secondly, I need help removing a larger item from my trailer and requested some help to which I was told " Because of company liability reasons we cannot touch customers items". As a company I get it, but where does customer service begin and liability ends. My suggestion would be to have a waiver for customers to sign that may need assistance if they're loading and unloading by themselves.KEVIN W. | First Impressions
