The rental requested was not available. I was switched to another vehicle that the staff could not find the keys. I ended up with a larger truck with a broken passenger side mirror and a crack in the window. Given the time spent during checkout, I decided to take it so I could get the move complete. I ended up driving Less than 40 miles as I do yes in the registration and brought the trial back higher than required but it appears I still Got charged more.CYNTHIA E.

NOTE: The following complaint is for a different reservation. Complaint for Truck Reservation # 86416649 NEVER GOT THE VAN. NO KEY. I was not able to get this van... NO KEY in the BOX. After completing ALL the steps to rent this van. Additionally Lock Box was broken and would open only 1 inch; I could see inside the box; there was NO KEY in the box. Additionally, obstructing the Uhaul combination pick up boxes, there was trash all over the place. It was disgusting. Keeping the space in front of the boxes is a matter of simple cleanliness. Better knowledge of truck status, location, and ready for rental or not. I was given a truck that was parked between two other trucks and the roll-up door was inoperable. I had to exchange for another truck after having to get in line again and wait until finished with another customer.JILL C.

Everybody was terrific! I made a mistake and inadvertently ordered trailer hitch parts that I did not need. The staff quickly and capably adjusted my bill without rubbing my nose in my mistake. It was my fault but they didn't raise any fuss. Txs.michael W.

No communication from employee - swiped my card and they stuck a trailer on my truck after a long wait time. They didn't plug in the 4pin connector and I didn't find out until the next morning, so I was driving around the night prior without taillights. Also didn't put the black plastic piece over the chain hookup, ergo it wasn't secure to my truck, which I didn't realize until drop off. I've never heard anything good about this location and now I see why.WINSTON U.

I feel that I was discriminated against by Derrick Robbins. He told me I had to wait outside because I didn't have a mask. I'm a white male while two black males inside the store did not have a mask including himself when I walked in. I asked why and he got belligerent towards me. I made a reservation for a space the day before. When I arrived to the location, the staff member pretty much said "sorry, we gave it to someone else because we have too many requests." So, a loss of my time. What are reservations for? When I arrived at the location they changed the truck on me, which made using the app harder since it was a different truck. also my drop off location was changed without me knowing. They did not have any appliance dollies and was told that the manager will help me find one by one of the guys cleaning the trucks. When I went inside they manage just told me to call around and see if I can find one and was very little help. I had to send my mother in law to the new bern ave store to rent one. I was told that the dolly was going to be removed and the new bern store told my in law that I was still charged for something I didn't leave with. they where nice enough to let me use their equipment and just return it once I was finished The manager hard very little customer service skills and looked like she didn't want to be there or help me at all. After I turned the truck back in. I realized that I dropped my key fob from my new apartment. I know this was my fault and returned back to the store to see if the truck had be rented out. The manager informed me that it had and that when the truck would return. They would notify me if they found anything or not. That was two days ago and I still have not herd anything and I'm going to have replace the fob. I know for a fact that it is in the truck because I herd something fall, and it wasn't till later that I realized it. I have always used the capital location. The previous manager always took care of what I needed. I feel like the capital location has took a turn for the worst. I will try to see if I get that fob back and avoid a fee, but with the current staff. I not so sure I will be successful.Luis L.

I booked my rental to be picked up at 7:15pm I got there early because I got off early. They then said I have to bring the truck back at 1:15 in the morning which isn't enough time to do anything. I pretty much had to force them to push it back to 9am because 1:15 am was just not possible. They should manage how they're scheduling their reservations and give people enough time to do what they need to do and not feel rushed.RASHID H.

I would have given it a 5, but there was only one associate running the registers so each client took about 10 minutes. Six people in the line is about an hour wait time. You really need to hire more people. The associates that were there did a good job.Palmer R.

We had trouble with tire continuously losing air and an "airbag needs service" message. Very concerning. I don't think this truck was serviced as it should have been.Christy C.
Storage unit rental was not very professional. Starting with the website false advertisements on deals. After paying was told that my reservation was not available and that I would need to go all over town to get my truck and storage unit job done. Then I after website problems I could not pay my rental. So they send me a rude letter of threatening to reposes my things . Not even a week late. Then I had to sit in a big line when all I needed was to pay. If that wasnt enough they're payment system would not take my credit card which I first paid without a problem . Counter lady was rude and obnoxious trying to say my card was declined. When my card was fine but they're payment system is faulty and without proper connections. The representative named Isaiah was great and did everything that he could to help me when I returned to vehicle. The mileage was way off. I failed to check the mileage when I first rented it but I was charged for about 80 miles when I only used about 15 miles and no refund was ever given to me. I ordered online to buy the hitch and set up the appointment to have it installed. I recommend that someone from the facility should have called me ahead of the appointment to confirm that the hitch is in stock at the facility and that it can take 3-4 hours for the installation to be completed.Louis F.

I reserved the vehicle at a specific U-Haul location. When I went to pick up the vehicle I was told it was not available. I then received a text telling me the vehicle was at another location at least 15 miles away. This is terrible, unacceptable customer serivce. I will never rent a vehicle from U-Uhaul again.christian R.
I would recommend this location based solely on Christian the gentleman who helped my return my trailer. He was polite, pleasant, helpful, everything you would want from an employee. What is a problem is the U-Haul Customer Service process. I tried to call to give a compliment regarding Christian. The first time I was going to have to wait 12 minutes to speak with somebody, second call was going to be another 12 minute hold. Third time I decided to wait on hold for 14 minutes (after calling the store directly and still being routed to the main customer service number). After waiting for 14 minutes I informed the representative that I wanted to leave a compliment, she had to refer me to another rep. and placed me on hold for another extended time. I had another meeting so I had to disconnect. If customer service is a priority at U-Haul, there should be more effort placed on hearing from the customer directly without such effort.ERIC K.

I was over charged: I was charged cleaning fees when in fact we returned the truck cleaner than we received it. I was charged for cleaning and gas. When I received the truck the gauge was at 1/4 tank, spent over $160 for gas (JUST TO DRIVE FROM GA TO NC) and I was still charged $36 for gas. I would like to be refunded the unauthorized charges of $88. On top of that I should receive a discount for all the inconvenience.JOY V.

Staff does not approach customers to find out what they need. Had to wait a long time to get anyone to acknowledge we were there. Not the greatest ip front, but once we had their attention it was quick and easy to do our business. There are only 2 centers in the area, and this one is the better of the 2.Kelley D.

The return process was horrible!! Took over an hour and I couldn't checkout online because the odometer reading when I returned was less than when I left due to an error in recording. Lesson learned:never leave the lot with your rental without confirming the odometer reading.FELICIA B.

I went to pick up my truck and it was not available. I went to the store and was bum rushed by a stout man yelling that the store was closed. After I stood my ground and told him I did not have the keys to the right truck he exclaimed â€œI DONT GIVE A FUCK WHAT THE SYSTEM SAYSâ€ and threw the keys at me. I then proceeded to the truck and realized I didn't have the appliance dolly I order. I went back to the store and the same man yelled at me that they were closed. Absolutely unacceptable. I made clear when I picked up this vehicle I would be dropping it off in another town. Do you not change reservations in person? I wasn't even given my uhaul at the time it was supposed to be schedules for at 730 am because no one has prepared the vehicle for me, so it's a bit unfair to say these things don't change on a case by case basis depending on what I told you in person. I will absolutely not tolerate being charged this 700+ dollars for a service that I did not ask for. I have been on hold with your company for over two hours today. This is the worst customer service I have ever received, and I cannot fathom being charged for a mistake at the time of my pick up. Return my call at 3368708937. Unfortunately due to the lack of staff in the office, it took me over an hour to have someone check me out. The manager on duty (older female AA woman with a tattoo on her right forearm, name begins with a D) sat in the next seat, and didn't assist the person behind the counter. When I asked her if I was checked out, she called someone outside and referred to me as "this lady in a green and black dress". To be referred in this manner instead of a customer made me feel belittled. So I was extremely embarrassed since there were other customer. Even while checking out via the app, I still needed to get a picture of the mileage and the man on staff would not come to the van so I can complete the task. I tried to go back inside and once the manager seen it was me that walked in, she stood up and went downstairs. Mind you my family is waiting outside with my 5 yr old grandson. So my daughter came in and that's when the manager decided to check me out and give me a receipt. Never have I ever been treated so unfair. I missed an IT appointment from my job due to having to wait so long.Cortney L.

Only addition I would make, make the out door storage lit up a little more. I am not sure what camera setup there is outdoor storage but I every time I went in before daylight, it was always dark. I still felt safe leaving my vehicle there. Also, Uhaul had the best price in the 100 mile square area for outdoor storage.Matthew G. | Overall Experience

Management at this facility has been very helpful and accommodating. On Sunday I found the young man that helped me was not overly friendly and didn't communicate enough. As my there was confusion around my storage reservation, he had to contact his manager (who was not working). Of course this was not a problem, but it would have been less frustrating for me if the associate would have just communicated more information about his dialogue with his Manager.
