No one came out to check in my equipment, so when I returned the trailer I just used the self return option on my phone and disconnected it myself. Same thing happened with the truck, so I went inside to get someone after waiting for 5 minutes. The truck let a bunch of water in and got my boxes wet, I think the contents of my boxes will be fine. I told the store clerk, not looking for a discount, but so they could fix it before giving it to another customer. They were very defensive and not sympathetic and they were clearly not going to do anything for the next guy.JOHN S.

Realized the customer service agent used her personal cell phone to take pictures of my DL and license plate number after the fact. Totally inexcusable given the problems we have today with cyber security. I wouldn't recommend Uhaul to anyone.Richard F.

Rental wasn't ready on arrival. Burned up 30 minutes of my 4 hour rental waiting for confirmation that I could leave. I had called to reschedule a 12:30 pickup to 1:00pm, which is why this is so frustrating. I also had to speak with the employee at the desk during the return. My invoice shows that I was charged two rental periods even though I was waiting in the return line by my vehicle as instructed for the return time. That took an additional 26 minutes for the return. After having the receipt explained, I confirmed the total in my account was correct at around $112. My deposit dropped off and only the $112 showed for the 4th. Now I check my account today on the 5th and both of them are back in pending and my account is left with $26 because uhaul is holding almost $300 on a date that I haven't even used their services. I can't believe it took more than 24 hours for this to update and I can't believe that the hold dropped off my account and was proper only to be dropped and doubled on the next business day. I'll be calling customer service to get an accurate answer this this. This business model is shady and I definitely won't be using uhaul again. I don't want to ding the specific location too much, but I definitely won't be using uhaul again ever.Thomas C.

Give more options for uhaul drop off as I was not assigned to the uhaul location I originally asked for and had to go further out of my way to drop off the truck.ZACHARY JOHN C.
This was our second location of the day. We made a reservation for a 5x8 trailer at the downtown location, and received a confirmation. When we arrived, they didn't have a trailer. They checked and no locations in the area had the $14.99 trailer that we needed. We were in a time crunch, so we were forced to go to the Burlingame location where we were able to get a cargo van. The problem is, that we then had to pay nearly $100 for the rental, plus $25 in gas, in lieu of the $14.99 + $8 insurance we were going to pay for the trailer, that would have been more than suitable for our needs. Not to mention, the additional time that my wife had to take off from work as a school teacher in order to complete the job at hand. I would like a refund or a credit. This is unacceptable that your online reservation system does not work properly. In fact, while we were getting our van at location number 2, there was another poor unsuspecting person that was being told that they didn't have what that person had reserved. All in all, the people at your locations were gracious and apologetic, but that doesn't excuse the inability of your reservation system to work properly. Please act swiftly.Paula N.

The time my receipt says I returned the trailer was off by almost an hour and resulted in me being charged for an extra day -- completely fabricating things to steal money from people.Michael B.

Only two people working when I showed up around 8:30am. Only one of them could work the register and book trucks. There were 4 people ahead of me, making my visit over an hour long. Both employees were noticeably tired and had bad attitudes. I rented a 26ft truck to move across town. The truck I was given was a 1998. It had well over 140,000 miles on it. When driving the truck, the box felt loose. It would slam forward when braking and slam backward when accelerating. I asked the manager If I could trade this truck for a different 26ft as there were 8 more on the lot. He rudely said "Your move is local. You can use the truck assigned to you or cancel, but all the other trucks are rented out. Next!" and made me wait 15 min while he took another customer without a reservation. I took pictures of the remaining 26ft trucks ID numbers to see if they in fact got rented. When I turned in the unsafe truck that night, all but one of the 26ft trucks from the night before were still on the lot. Surely they could have exchanged my truck. I stopped going to this location and have steered friends away from this place. Every time I have used them, they're understaffed and under-prepared. Please retire that old truck, it's not safe to drive.Zachary G.
Physical access to my unit in door D is quite difficult for heavy items. The carts help, but the ramp is very steep. Getting the items to the bottom of the ramp is also a challenge unless you are using a truck that matches the dock height.Gerald E. | First Impressions

I rented a truck and auto transport trailer. I got a call saying no trailer was available so I kept just the truck. I was not aware the trailer hitches only work with uhaul trailers. I returned the truck and the workers were not helpful at all. They offered no solution. Poor serviceLeslie P.

The online system was flawed. Had to track down employee to get keys. They truck had left over boxes and trash along with receipt from previous renter. I was told I did not have to fill the gas tank to previously level and then was charged for 8 gallons of gas when I drove 18 total miles.Brent K.

Uhaul caused a lot of stress before pickup. When booking I made it extremely clear to agent that I was only flying to pickup location if equipment was available. It was made very clear verbally by the agent that the equipment I wanted was not currently available but was reassured multiple times that something would be be available even if it wasn't what I wanted. After booking flights I got a call from Uhaul telling me there was no guarantee of any equipment being available. In the end where I picked up the truck there were so many trucks that it seems that there was never an issue with availability at all and all the stress was for nothing. If there is no guantee equipment will be available even if it is a substitute model do not guarantee there will be! In my case everything worked out but if it hadn't I would have been out thousands of dollars and a weeks worth of vacation for nothing.Stephen S.

Every truck I have gotten there have been on their last legs. Making them very difficult to drive and feeling like something could go wrong at any moment. I know it's a truck share program but just have had no truck that have had fewer than 160 thousand miles and one was ove 200 at your location.Ian H.

10 Foot truck I used was in rough shape. Door on driver side was falling apart. The suggestion was to get the 10 foot truck because it could fit a 1 bedroom apartment. This was not the case, had to take two trips. Nearly did not meet the time I was given the hired movers because of this.Joshua M.

One worker (the one helping me) told me the customers from the night before were â€œall a bunch of retardsâ€ because they dropped off the trucks and blocked the entrance. I have a nephew that is special needs and to think there are ignorant people out there that are using the word â€œretardâ€ is repulsive. One worker was moving a truck and hopped a curb and definitely not on accident. He and the other worker were laughing about it. The truck was beyond FILTHY. I cleaned the steering wheel with three Clorox wipes and it was black each time. The inside and outside of the windshield clearly hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. When the sun shined on it, I wasn't even able to see through it. This is an absolute safety hazard!!!!! When coming to a stop the truck was clearly having problems changing gears and was terrifying to drive. I am beyond disgusted with how disgusting the truck was. The fact that I gave this location my business and actually paid for a truck that ran like crap and obviously hadn't been cleaned infuriates me. NEVER EVER AGAIN will I be returning to this location.Pattilynn C.

The drop off time was very confusing. I was told 5 pm then it was changed to 4 which I accepted. Then after truck was picked up I got a text that drop off time was 2. Which was not going to work. I also returned truck with 1/2 tank of gas and got no bill credit.Kim P.

This was the 3rd location we were sent to for a reservation that was unable to be fulfilled. The first trailer they connected us to had mud spattered all over the front and bald mismatching tires. The light connection was temperamental. Asked for a different trailer, the other trailer worked well. While the experience was overall bad (12 pickup turned into 2:30 pickup putting us behind in our moving). No 50 dollar uhaul guarantee dispersed.Stephen K.

I will never use uhaul again. All I had was a bad experience with them. I booked my truck online over a week before I needed it. I called once to do it the first time and then called and changed the date to an earlier time and the person I talked to assured me that I would have what I needed on the date I needed. However the night before my move. They called me and told me they did not have a truck the size I needed in the place I needed it. By that time I had zero time to find a different truck company. I had already planned the entire day and did not have time to go to another uhaul place. Which is what they asked me to do. An hour drive out of my way actually. When the move I was making was already taking me over and hour to get to after that. I made it clear I was not happy and they just kept giving me the same answer. This company does not care. Does not fulfill you're needs. Cannot even give you the things you requested over a weeks time before. I don't care if it says in the fine print that they will call to let you know. One is available. That is not okay. Do not have the option to book something if it isn't booked. Do not tell give someone less that 24 hrs notice that they will not have what they booked over a week again. Also I never received the dolly I PAID for. So that was also no help. Screw this company. It will only be getting bad reviews from me.William M.

The general manager, Ryan, was rude and unhelpful. However an employee named Jared was amazing and bent over backwards to be helpful and problem solve when the computer system for self-storage wasn't working. He was apologetic for the behavior of his manager and did a great job smoothing things over with customers when his boss was rude and impatient with them. The check in process was fine. After getting a flat 9 mins from our location we had to wait 5 hours for roadside assistance because not only did it take almost an hour to just get a hold of someone they got our location wrong sent after waiting 2.5 hours then had to wait another hour for a guy when the job took less then 5 mins to fix.
