Reserved a truck and a appliance dolly to move appliances we had in storage at that location. Got there they had the truck but no dolly. I had to go and buy a dolly to move the appliances which put us back an hour and they would give me an extra hour to bring the truck back. Said it was t their fault they didn't have a dolly even though I reserved one. I was less than impressed with the ubox experience from start to finish. We scheduled moving help along with our ubox reservation who never showed up. On average I was waiting on hold for 40 minutes every time I called for help and was ultimately left to figure out how to retrieve and load my boxes myself after three days of calling all different customer service lines and moving help not showing. We had to call again since they kept our money for moving help even after they never showed and we filed a complaint (which was closed due to inactivity after uhaul simply never responded to it). Our boxes did arrive on time but one was damaged and held together by a metal strap which even the delivery driver noted was unusual and they did not even have the proper tools to remove it so we could open the box. Everything inside was damaged to some degree and we are still waiting over a month later for any progress on our claim for that even though we paid for the insurance. Overall, completely unimpressed and would not recommend uboxes to anyone.Christine B.

I placed an order for a 6'x12' trailer @ U-Haul Moving & Storage Airline, 2855 Airline Blvd, Portsmouth, VA 23701, for pick-up on 9/12/2021 @ 9a.m.; later to receive an updated email that my order was reserved and GUARANTEED @ Victory Computer, 5013 George Washington Hwy, Portsmouth, VA 23702, 9/12/2021 @ 9a.m. Upon my arrival to Victory Computer @ 9:15a.m. the location was closed. I called the contact number and the employee advised, â€œI know that can't be right, cause we don't open till 2p.m., let me guess you made your reservation online, I don't know why they keep doing that, you need to transfer your reservation to U-Haul on Airline, they have plenty trailersâ€. Upon my arrival at U-Haul Moving & Storage Airline they advised they didn't have any 6'x12' trailers available, thus I had to rent a 15' truck as it was the smallest truck available. Upon my return of the truck to U-Haul Moving & Storage Airline, they were quite busy and an employee asked if I was returning the truck, to just leave the key inside and he would get it. I was later charged $33.25 for fuel indicating that the truck was returned @ Â¼ when the truck was returned above Â¼ tank, which I had photo evidence to dispute that. So a $29, 6'x12' trailer rental turned into a $93.73, 15' truck rental with a whole lot of headacheâ€¦ I was contacted on 9/12/2021 in reference to my reservation and shared my displeasure with the situation and was advised a Customer Action Form would be completed and a manager would contact me to help resolve the issue. As of 9/15/2021, I had not received that call a had to call U-Haul myself. Of course the person I spoke with could not find were the Customer Action Form was submitted for review, the person who allegedly submitted the form was off and no other manager/supervisor was available to speak with me at the time!!! Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with U-Haul in 30+ years of utilizing their service. I pray U-Haul will fix this and make it right!!!ANDREDONATELLO S.

there were only 12 furniture pads, atleast 24 would be recommended. my ubox was not delivered as scheduled & no agent has the clue on where & when it is going to be delivered. I had to follow-up 20-30 times at least to get my box delivered.RAJA KUMAR B.

The truck had multiple problems. The power steering was not working correctly so any maneuvering at low speeds was very difficult. The truck had less than half a tank of gas when I received it and the employees were unaware. Also, the air brakes were leaking so they were constantly setting off the alarm for being low on air. This has been the most horrible experience I've ever had with moving. I don't even know where to begin. First, no one answers the phone. When I get someone on the phone, they don't know the answers. You should really stick to moving trucks because you offer too many options than you are able to manage and execute smoothly with the containers. I am being charged without my knowledge and no one can tell me why or even return my calls. I was initially told that I could select containers for different days and combine them, so I didâ€"WHAT A DISASTER!!!! I completed the estimator and it told me that I needed 4. I actually needed 6. Things apparently slid around and scratched and broke. Just a mess. The moving help was a JOKE. I will be hiring professional movers with a professional truck for my move next year. Look at my account and how much money you made off me for this poor service that I've received. I can't believe it.Demetrice S.
The corporate number we called said the location was open till 7:00 pm, we arrived at 5:20 p.m. and there was o e man cleaning outside and completely ignored us, then we asked him what are we supposed to do and he said we are closed, follow what the sign says, so we did that, then we were prompted to use the bar code,we asked where that was and he said "on the door" so, we had to find the door it was on. We then found it on an automatic door and when it opened, the woman behind the desk rudly said, " were closed" I said I got that but this bar cose is nothing working, she then muttered something and I said the the man outside, here is the truck, you fix this! I was charged a oil & tire repair fee I guess to recover the $10 credit. I explained to the guy that check me out that the place I picked up the U-Haul didn't have enough furniture covers and how could you'll accommodate me so he shown me he had credit my account $10 but it's seems to me he's trying get the $10 back by adding another $10 fee. The young lady working was amazing. She had a line out the door and she knocked it out by herself professionally and quickly. She can do three things at once. Even while she was working with a customer she would reach out and pull info from the people in line in her down time. It allowed us to set up on our trailers while we waited by giving us the #'s ect. She not only checked our rigging she hooked up each trailer herself. Whatever this woman needs going forward you should make sure she gets it. It would be a huge loss if she were to move on.JASONMICHAEL G.

I rented the van and did not look at the gas gauge when I departed from the location. Only a few miles down the road I noticed the gauge was only 3/4 full. I mentioned this when I returned the vehicle and the individual said it was my fault for not noticing it before I left. Customer service can improve. Too many attitudes and no personality especially when I return the vehicle. Your Churchland location is awful. I ended at the Airline location because Churchland messed up my reservation. I had an 8:00 pickup for Saturday morning and they called me to tell me that they pushed my reservation to 3:00 because they over booked the truck. You may want to make sure that the destinations are fully understood by customer service at the time of reservation. We had a little mix up in delivering to new address. We used the UBox for business and had to come out on a Sunday because the box went to storage instead of the new address. We also had to make new arrangements to get the box to the correct destination. It also required a trip to the UHaul store to speak with someone in person to locate the box for special delivery on Sunday. We got it, but, it required a lot of time on the phone ( long hold times) and rearrangement of meeting times with personnel. The box served it's purpose, but it was more stressful than anticipated.Jennifer J.

Was pleasantly surprised to see they had plenty of supplies in stock for people to purchase including 3 different types of furniture pads to purchase since the location I picked up my truck from did not have any. Manager was very polite and helping customers himself since there was a long line when I arrived. He struggled a bit with checking me back in because of having to use a cell phone to take pictures and upload things he commented about not being so tech savvy and to bare with him. First, there was supposed to be a free lock. NOPE! Had to go and ask at the office and was told all out and that I could purchase one of their other ones. Then had to walk all the way around to get back in because there is no key pad on that side of the bldging. Then tried to use the cart and ramps. The concrete ramp was broken on the end so created a VERY LARGE LIP to try and get over. The cart had a broken wheel most likely broken by the very large lip. Our furniture Dolly couldn't even maneuver well over this lip. Made it VERY MISERABLE AND DIFFICULT TO MOVE IN. ADDITIONALLY the door shut and locked us out while trying to move in so I had to walk to a different door to let us in. All in All it was a very frustrating move in with many a cuss word spoken!! . The staff expressed that reservations were being made online and over the phone for storage units that they did not have available, fortunately, they had the size I was looking for and the young woman behind the counter was amazing. The staff was new and struggled through the check in process. Their customer service skills were poor at best. It took over an hour to checkin due to the lack of knowledge. Everything I had put in the system when I made the reservation had to be put back in. We made reservations over the phone over two months prior to relocating from Florida to Virginia. When we finally arrived with a huge 26ft uhaul and a car being towed, they told us there are no units available. You can imagine the panic we felt that moment. Apparently uhaul (corporate) will overbook things but the units themselves are "first come first serve" at this location. Having said that, the staff accommodated us rather quickly and ended up finding a unit that just emptied out which was perfect for our things. Their customer service was fantastic and the people working there are very accommodating and work hard. Can't say enough good things about this location.
