Customer service is horrible. When I picked up my vehicle the man slurred his speech and seemed slightly altered. I told them I never got my text saying the equipment was ready. When I called the local number to check if it was ready the call went to somebody out of the area. She adjusted the time on my contract but then the guy at the rental location said I could not have the extra hour. When I returned the rental the sign said to stay in the vehicle until somebody came. Nobody came. I went in and they said they were busy with other customers but nobody was there. The whole process was frustrating. It never used to be this way. U-haul in Bettendorf needs to learn about customer service.KANDACE B.

Not all employees are knowledgeable of their inventory (includes, all packing supplies, locks and rental equipment and how to use the computer system for verifying rentals). There's also not enough employees working at this location and the overall location of this business is awful as there's not much parking and getting in/out of this location is difficult.STEPHANIE C.

The vehicle had not been cleaned and was so full of cigarette smoke it was horrible! They did not let me know there was a $20 fee for not logging and downloading their website. Along with the other $80 in hidden fees. I have also never received an email with what was charged.LISA W.

The manager is rude and only cares about money. I bought a rooftop cargo kit that included 6 strap downs for $50 online. When I got to the store to pick up my order, it was marked on the shelf as $60 but "as a courtesy" she would only charge the online price. When I got home to pack it, the straps were missing from the box. I called the store and talked to the manager to explain, asked if I could just come back and pick up some straps. I immediately went back. As usual, I had to hunt someone down to help me. He got the manager who had already forgotten my call. She inspected the cargo bag and empty box, read that straps were included with purchase but she was going to charge an additional $25 bucks for the straps because she had already given me a courtesy credit. I told her it didn't make sense and I didn't agree and it isn't a courtesy to pay the listed price for an item if it is marked incorrectly. Moreover the straps should be free with the bag as stated on the box. And if she was going to gouge me it couldn't be for more than $10 the full price of the cargo kit. I was desperate and told her to do what she had to do. I have spent well over $1500 in supplies and equipment with Uhaul on this move. It has been a horror show. Don't even get me started on the moving labor I hired from uhaul.com but you don't take any responsibility for. I still have zero resolution for that fiasco.Lisa L.

The equipment was cleaned out before I rented it the guy sweeps it out in front of me. The part I'm having a hard time understanding is how I traveled 50+ miles I rented a uhaul the previous week and did major moving traveling much further and did about 50 miles. This experience I only picked up a pair of chairs and returned the vehicle and was charged with 50 some miles. I supposed I should have looked at this before I left this last time because based of google maps it would have been 20 or so miles round trip. Paid around 150 for 2 20 dollar chairs wasn't even worth it.KELSEY W.

I wish I could remember the name of the employee that was working at the time. That person was attending to everything by themselves and I thought handled themselves very well for having 3 customers at a time when the rental process is not necessarily a quick one.DANIEL P.
They DONT return phone calls! They tell you they will take off late fees and work with you when you have crappy banks, but when you call back to make the payment you can't get through, and you call back fifty times.....no exaggeration......and you have to sit on hold for over 20 minutes which I can't do because I have a special needs child, so now the late fee is back in there! The interior of the truck was not as clean as I had hoped, but I am renting a truck to move things in the bed so.... I overlooked it. When i realized i was not going to be done in time i went to the link for returns and processed the request. I thought everything had gone through. Unfortunately I was wrong. That part I own up to. But to answer my phone at 7 am to a man yelling at me that i "couldn't have it today. It is being picked up in a half hour. You need to get it back here right now" all while yelling. So of course I rush right up there for the so called manager to approve of the way he spoke to me. I dont aprove of anyone being treated the way I was over a simple mistake. They have no tact. My only reservation in recommending U haul at all is the ridiculously long..32mins I had (as I'm sure everyone else had) to wait to talk to a customer service agent. I can't think of a reason for this to happen/be acceptable. If you can't answer the phone in a reasonable amount of time give the option of a call back by your â€œextremely â€œ busy agent.CHRISTINE S.
We rented a pick up late in the day to pick up some furniture we purchased and it snowed the day before and there was still about three inches of snow in the back. Customer service was horrible! Trinity may have been the rudest person I've ever spoken too I over heard her speaking on the phone to a customer and she was horrible! The other kid there had no customer service skills but wasn't rude. This used to be a good location and we have rented there several times over the years to move our kids to and from school. Never again I will drive a longer distance to find a different Uhaul or rent from a competitor.DIANA H.

It took over an hour an a half to receive a trailer that we also pre-checked in over the internet prior to arrival. The lights of the first trailer didn't work they insisted it was my 2019 Chevy truck. However after convincing them it was no and finally trying another trailer they worked! Disappointed with the time and the service overall. However the drop off went very smooth. Cleanliness was also an issue as I brought the trailer back to my house just to clean it out appropriately.Orville G.

I had so many issues you would just consider me as a complainer. The mobile app did not work. Had to go to the desk and completely input information again. The windows were frosted so I had to use my hands and elbows to clear the frost. The windows were so dirty I had to clean them myself. The gas tank was empty. Not a quarter tank as shown on the contract. I took a photo of the dash which shows millage and fuel (E) if you wish to see a copy. I'm not making this up. It actually made me laugh. Truck worked perfect and the guy at the desk who checking me in was very helpful. Would I come back? Probably, since the equipment worked great and price was good. If I experienced the same issues again, would not come back. JimJAMES W.
Single person working there means wait times vary from five minutes to an hourâ€"even if there's no line. No one ever answers the phone because it's too busyâ€"if you want anything, you have to go in person and wait. The people who work there are truly wonderfulâ€"this is absolutely not a complaint against them. But this place is so busy and so understaffed that it just doesn't work. Very frustrating.Tiffany H.
