The staff welcomed us warmly upon arrival. They were knowledgeable and friendly. We were in and out quickly for the pick-up and the return. We didn't have to go inside when we returned the truck. It was convenient.
Kim MooreI called the U-Haul 800# requesting a shop to install a hitch with a 2 inch receiver for my 2021 Toyota Avalon. I have a bike rack with a 2 inch connection for carrying Mtn Bikes. I was specific with your dispatcher when I placed the order and I was given an appointment at your shop in Monterey for 9am on 3/21/2024. Your shop manager in Monterey called to reschedule my appointment because a part hadn't arrived in time for the original appt 3/21; you charged me $59 extra for express delivery for this part. I reiterated my request for a 2 inch receiver in that conversation. On 3/25 I dropped my car at the Monterey shop at 9am for the hitch installation. I returned at 11am to pick up my car. The hitch on my vehicle had a 1 1/2 inch receiver. Your shop personnel then lectured me stating there was no 2 inch receiver hitch for my vehicle and that it was my fault for not specifying that when I dropped the car off. They suggested they could remove the hitch if I wanted to wait around for another hour; I couldn't wait. I was charged for the installation in order to get my keys back. The computers at the shop were down so they couldn't even give a receipt for the work. I am not sure my experience could have been any worse.

Rebecca JordanThis location is large so they always have equipment. I needed a trailer light harness that is common but you didn't have it. O had to drive to Autozone. The ratchets on the car trailer were so rusty and dry they wouldn't work. I had to buy WD40 and fix it out where I was loading the car. Really inconvenient. If I wasn't able to fix it, I would have had to call for assistance.

Shane BreilingThe employees did their jobs perfectly, the internet service at this particular location absolutely needs to be updated. It took us almost a full half hour to go through the process of submitting payment and receiving the keys due to how slow the system was. The employee that helped me has to refresh and restart the process at least 5 times. No issues with the employees, please update their computers so they can work to their full potential.

Samuel RiversThe location was large and convenient. The trailer itself was poorly maintained. The tongue mechanism that actuates the brakes was incredibly rusted, which produced a lot of noise as well as questionable braking results. There were times where I felt the trailer brakes weren’t functioning at all. I’ve been a U-Haul customer in the past, but this is the first time I’ve used your double axle trailers. I will not be renting one of these trailers again.

lydia bornino lyons SEE NO1. Tell employees to immediately acknowledge people entering- stop talking amongst themselves especially if you’re disagreeing until the customer is taken care of. 2. I had purchased a Uhaul hitch and twelve furniture blankets. Told to grab my own bags. Since you sell by the half-dozen, I assumed that I needed two bags-grabbed them (they are not marked on the outside!). When I drove my vehicle to the trailer, he asked where my hitch was! I explained my prior purchase of U-Haul’s suggested hitch, he told me to walk across a huge parking lot to obtain my hitch! Good customer service does NOT have the customer doing the work of your staff. Excellent customer service would have been someone who wasn’t so busy talking to staff? friends? rather than focusing on the customer (the one who helps pay him). He should have already checked the reservation and know closely to know what was ordered: hitch, blankets and trailer! Years ago, these things would have been put inside the trailer BEFORE the customer arrives.

All three times they assured me the container would not be sent until I actually paid for it. I gave my phone number and email to staff at least twice, but they still had both wrong. When I went to put more items in my container, I was informed it was no longer on site. They told me they attempted to call me and email me but there was no response. for the third time I asked them what they had down, and both were wrong. I told both people that they individually told me the number and email was correct. All the employees were helpful just incompetent.

John AdamsThe mobile check in process is so tedious I decided to go inside and do it the old fashioned way. Do you really need to do a reference check for a car rental?! The person at the desk was helpful and the process was easy. The van I rented had no gas (below the red zone), low air in the tires, a light out... I think that's it. As soon as I turned it on it was warning signal after warning signal. All in all, a really rough start to a long day. By the time we figured out how to check the van out and gas it up, we were late for our appointment. It's worth the extra little bit of planning to rent from Home Depot despite their smaller inventory.

The young heavyset gentleman is quite rude but I guess he's running the show and no one can tell him any different just not very courteous or customer service oriented.

Reiner HueslerEmployees and service at U-Haul Del Monte Ave was excellent. My only complaint concerns your "online reservation" process. I reserved a trailer 2 days before the pickup date. Everything seemed fine until I arrived to pick up the trailer, only to find out they didn't have one on the lot. Luckily they had a similar trailer with a ramp, which I ended up renting. Your online reservation system should be smart enough to notify customers that their reserved equipment is not available prior to pickup time.

Jeffrey PaduanBogus e alert hold, took me 2 hours of waiting on hold for a 1 minute call to resolve. The e alert gentleman was callous at best. Most of on site staff wasbalso callous to the situation as there was nothing they could do. There was an audible snicker by female employee on duty at the time while I was talking with what appeared to be the person in charge at the time. I get the truck, load it up and when I go to gas it up there's no gas cap. I have always had decent to good experiences with uhaul before this and have always rented with uhaul. However after this experience I'll be going out of my way next time to rent elsewhere. Absolutely disgusted by this experience.
