I have two storage units there now. I have found the facility to be good condition and any interactions that I have had with the staff has always been pleasant and helpful. I have moved multiple times to include moving from the east coast out to the west coast and each time U-Haul has been my "Go to" for ease, and or value.

Aaron mEverything seemed fine at first. But my bill ended up significantly higher than the estimate. My mileage was under. However the mileage went from 6622 to 6745...should have been 6645. The rental rate changed from $19.95 to 89.95. Probably related to the mileage error. I called and spoke with someone and was assured the error would be corrected and to check my email shortly. That email never showed up. Neither did the adjusted charges on my bank account. Everything else seemed top notch. I would like a resolution to this issue ASAP.

REGINALD SCustomer service was poor. As I was booking up to the 5x8 rental trailer I was told I needed to buy a 4pin to 7pin adapter for the lights, then once we plugged in the trailer and the rear right turn signal was not working the workers told me it was a problem with my car and they walked away. I was scrambling for an hour trying to figure out why the light wasn’t working with zero help from the staff. They kept suggesting they would be cancelling and refunding the rental even though I was moving countries the next day. I had to rely on a neighbouring RV maintenance company to help me with everything as the uhaul staff wanted nothing to do with me. I asked if a mechanic from uhaul could quickly take a look at the 7 pin receiver on my vehicle and they said “oh yeah sorry we do have someone in but it’s by appointment only so we can’t get you in” there were 3 empty bays in the garage. Additionally, this location was NOT my pickup location I reserved 2 weeks before pick up. I had reserved a pickup location close to my house and was able to reserve it no problem. I got a call the day before (as was expected) where they told me there were no more rentals available in the city and I would have to travel outside of PDX to pick up the trailer that I had reserved down the street from me. Overall very dissatisfied with the pickup process.

Darren CBut after I dropped off I recieved an email after I got home to check-in returned trailer. Take photos etc. ButI was already home. I called and the person was more than helpful! Said they were not aware I returned trailer, even though and employee guided my back in and unhitched trailer. She said I shouldn't Have needed to do anything and instantly handled it and I received an email receipt. So all is good! I realize I could have downloaded the app, and probably made this experience easier. But I'm sick on needing an app for everything. Have screens of them. I'd rather talk to a real person. That's customer service!

DANIEL BThe fact that you have to put your pin code into the front of the building before entering when your unit is on the second floor and half way down the length of the building turn and go the full width of the building. The alarm sounds Everytime you open your unit. It's BLARING and takes forever to silence many times so for those of us with sensory issues it's an experience I dreaded just going there for anything. Put a pin code on the wall near your unit not at the front door.

There was a large dent on the back of the truck I rented before I drove it off the Uhaul lot, I saw it and took pictures and a video of the damage and other preexisting damage on the truck before I left. I returned the truck and was left with a large fine for the large dent that was already there. Fortunately I was able to show the employees at this Uhaul the proof of the preexisting damage and had the fees retracted.... Had I not had proof, I would still be out $150!!

First one if was told to grab, didn’t have the accessories belt for lower the dolly down stairs, so I had to get another one. Then that dolly would somehow lose tension when going down the stairs. Tried adjusting it multiple times. Same thing.

When paying for storage for as long as we did it would be really nice to not have rodents running around and for the facility to have working climate control (a/c) like we originally signed up for. We could give two craps if the stuff in our storage unit got cold. We did care if it melted during the summer. Every year it got worse. We truly looked forward to getting our things out and never coming back.
stephanie p | Overall ExperienceWell to start, you could have given me a truck that didn’t have a severe gas leak from the tank. When I went to the gas station to fill up, a huge puddle of gas formed under and around the truck, which I discovered was caused by, apparently, by a failure at the fill tube/tank connection. When I stopped the gas from going down the tube, the massive dripping slowly stopped. At that point, I had to hose off the gas as best I could so I could move the vehicle and let the gas evaporate off the bottom of the tank. Then, as the truck was fully loaded (this occurred around 6pm), I had no choice but to continue what had now become a harrowing trip 60 miles to Lincoln City. I could go on about trauma, and the extra money I had to pay for gas, as well as other unfortunate circumstances that arose from the associated delays, but I think you get my point. I must say, however, that the staff, both before, and after the rental, were extremely helpful and courteous. When I returned the truck , the guy gave me some kind of credit that made me feel a little better. I want to be clear that I understand it was an unfortunate mechanical failure and no ‘one’ was at fault, but honestly, it did cause me a lot of stress, as well as impacting me financially (for instance, I had to pay my helper extra due to the delay getting to Lincoln City). Well, you asked!

With no parking 'on the streeet' what's next?? They want your busness then can't facilitate it....ridiculous. NO more rentals here.

There was more people there than I expected for Super Bowl Sunday, normally when I go there’s a few people in line, today it was a ghost town. I hope management considers events in the future and doesn’t schedule extra employees if it’s not needed. Days off are rewards for jobs well done and that shouldn’t be forgotten! I’m not familiar with their process for the vehicles so it may have been that the staff was needed, but it seemed as though the employees were bored with such a slow day :(. Katie NI rented a trailer last week, February 2 for two days and everything was excellent, but I rented again on February 9 and they charged me more. When the trailer returned, they told me that they were going to refund me what they overcharged me and they never did.
Carlos QUpon arrival, we were informed the 2 ultility carts we reserved were not available. There was one in truck and the other was rented earlier that morning. Apparently they don't hold reservations for those, which would have been nice to know so we could go to another location. The only other option was to rent a broken one they had in the shop for the same fee. Unbelievable. Also, the middle seatbelt was covered in mold and mildew of the truck.

It was a frosty morning and as I was letting the truck warm up and having to scrape ice off the windshield ( this should have been done by staff) using a credit card as my ice scraper…. Got in truck to leave and the gas tank was empty!! Had to go back in and wait in line to get another truck making me late for my move.

They insisted I be present when it was picked up from that location but then picked it up without notifying me (I travel a good distance and won’t up early for no reason), and then failed to log my U-Box as not at their facility despite having immediately shipped it to Baltimore. They then tried to bill me for storing a container I had already received in Maryland, unloaded and returned. This was the most incompetent experience with a moving and storage company I have ever had. I would never recommend them to anyone.

MARK T | Overall ExperienceDuring my check in I asked for help to get a unit and I was told it would be easier for me to do it myself if I scanned the code on the front of the building. I am not knowledgeable in scanning codes and let the attendant know. He told again it was easier for me to do it and because I had my son with me, he told him to " be a son" and do it for me. After standing outside and trying to scan the code, which was nearly impossible as there was a sticker on the automatic doors that covered the code everytime the door opened. Between customers going in and out and the door being activated every time I moved I felt frustrated. I finally got the code scanned and could not complete the reservation ither due to the app not working or because I had no idea what I was doing which is why I asked for help to begin with. The attendant was at that point willing to help and booked the unit for me with the help of his supervisor on the phone. I understand and I am all about people learning a new skill and his not knowing how to book the unit was not at all a part of my frustration of the day. I believe his telling me to do it using the scan code and then shaming both my son and myself was his attempt to not tell me he had never booked a unit before. During the booking when on the phone with his supervisor, he had asked for a first floor unit because I am "an older lady". So this was the highlight of my insults, I am 59 and yes, not young but that was very offensive. I was told there would be a lock that came with the unit and there was not. I purchased a lock from the attendant. After the unit was rented and we were shown where to find it, we started to unload the moving truck and quickly realized it was too small. The wrong size unit is all on me. I called to toll free number to ask for a bigger unit and had it set up on the phone and was told to just go back and ask him to cancel the smaller one and assign me the bigger unit. The bigger unit did have the lock inside for us to use, so the one I purchased was no longer necessary. As the supervisor was at the counter at that point this went relatively well. The moving into the bigger unit was brutal due to the stairs and the roll up door at the loading dock being locked, and this again was more on the unit I chose to save some money on down the line and still, brutal. After the moving truck was emptied I went to return the moving truck and the unneeded lock. I was asked for my receipt and told the same attendant who sold it to me , he did not give me a receipt. He told me he could not return it without a receipt. When I Said again " you didn't give me a receipt " he told me I must have told him I must have told him I didn't want one because he "always asks if people want a receipt " because the computer prompts him to do so. He did not ask if I wanted a receipt. I was also told I could leave the truck out front where I had parked it and leave the keys in the cup holder. I was told I would get a text message to let me know it was returned in about 15 minutes, that was last evening about 4 pm and I still have no message. I called the toll free number to ask if was returned about 5 30 last evening and they did not see it showing returned. I also want to add each time. I address any of my concerns with the attendant his comment was "call Uhaul and tell them"

The only inconvenience were the large potholes in the gravel area encountered while driving into the facility entrance. So maybe another notification or warning that you MUST confirm the reservation would be good. Otherwise people were very friendly and helpful. Was able to get everything in before 10pm so that was good. It was unfortunate that we couldn’t open the bay doors to offload, but I understand that’s for safety.

If you can’t handle high volumes of work without getting flustered and becoming rude to your customers, then perhaps choose a calmer line of business. Me and my girlfriend came in and Amanda was extremely rude to us, and even passive aggressive to her subordinates. Not only that but her logic did not make sense. We came to pick up a truck but also wanted to change our account information - and at first she wanted us to get in the back of the line so she can help other customers (there were two other parties tops, and she was not the only employee present), because it was “busy” and those folks needed their trucks (did we not as well?). It was only after I insinuated that that was silly, when she changed her mind and tune. Was too early for me to deal with that and started our day off sour. Would hate to work there. I suggest some lower level training, maybe she forgot basic customer service skills while being in the manager position.

There was another staff member there earlier in the day that was the opposite of helpful, but the gentleman that helped in the afternoon more than made up for it. The stored contents which were there for 4+ years were all in good condition, except for a wool rug that was not wrapped and had moth damage. This was frustrating, though a number of silk rugs and silk items stored in the same unit were luckily fine. I’m not sure how this happened, and I know that one year into storage, everything was fine. In the future, I would definitely wrap any consumable materials and pack them with desiccants for long-term storage, as I had with the other wool rugs.

Due to unforseen circumstances, I needed storage for a few things temporarily, I was told I had 2 months free storage. While I was taking care of paperwork, husband was moving things into unit, then I was told, since it was ground floor, not free, so had to pay $79.95 or move stuff. Then last Friday, moved things out, as my husband approached the door, to give notice of move out, someone locked the door in his face! I called immediately, connected to call center, but by Tuesday, they apparently still had not received message, as they called me inquiring if I had moved out or if I wanted to pay for another month. Have used U-Haul in Yakima, WA & Billings, MT with excellent service, but Sherwood & McMinnville (where we had to return equipment) Oregon were the worst customer service I have ever experienced!

Linda K | Online Move InI reserved a storage unit and a truck. Online it stated that it was 1 month free rent, with a free lock. Apparently my unit didn’t qualify for a free month bc it was on the ground floor, even though online it stated it qualified and when I called prior to arriving was reassured that it qualified for a free month of rent. When I came in to complete my reservation he stated that there were no ground floor units available, even though that is what I reserved online. The form to be completed for storage I had to fill out 3 separate times because they wouldn’t accept the secondary contact person as someone in the same house, my secondary phone # couldn’t be my work number because it had an extension. I then came to get into my unit, and there was a green zip tie on my door, which due to having a disability (MS) I could not get it off without having a pair of scissors. I asked one of the workers if he had something to remove it and he was incredibly rude, and said “maybe try using your hands, it pulls right off” mind you we were in the other side of the building from where my unit was when I located him, he then made me walk all the way down there to watch him pull it off. Great for you, but I physically cannot pull it off and make certain movements with my hands due to my MS. This is an obstacle I face daily and can be incredibly frustrating when your hands don’t work the same way as someone else, but this just rubbed that in my face of a day where I was already having a challenging time. He grabbed the lock in the package handed it to me and yet again I’m faced with the predicament of having to open a package and the inability to do so because of my disability, I don’t have the strength to be able to do many things with my hands. So he took the lock opened it and then handed it back very abrasively. I said thank you I appreciate your help, I didn’t get a response, so I said thank you a little louder in case he didn’t hear me, and he just kept his back turned and kept walking shaking his head. When I first got to the storage, I had an issue with the keypad not recognizing my code and he said “it’s works just fine, if you use the right code box.” This man was the rudest individual, and could have simply handled this situation by just taking the tag off for me (saying oh sure I can grab it for you, no problem) instead of making me walk and make two extra trips empty handed with my 4 year old son I had with me, and that would have been that. He was extremely rude, inconsiderate, Condescending, and Far from efficient in his attempts to help and made it very well known he was annoyed and didn’t want to assist. I will not be recommending this location to anyone. Overall this was not a pleasant, or easy experience whatsoever. Worst customer service!

Gary S | First ImpressionsMark the manager and or supervisor gave my password / code to a person who paid for a unit but was not currently on any contract within the facility. Allowing that person access to the facility, this person then broke into my storage unit and took my safe containing jewlery,, my tools and anything else valuing approximately $5000 o4 more. I later was able to negotiate most of it back since I know this person and this person felt that I owed them personally. When I made the complaint and asked Mark about this he played dumb to the situation and lied to me about it. It wasn't until this same person and I were at this storage facility at the same time, were they able to point Mark out as the person who gave them the password/code. Mark then went on to over exaggerate small situations that I had possibly been wrong in, yet other uhaul customers were doing the same thing. He began speaking to me rudely, threatening to kick me out and ultimately only allowing me access during business hrs, locking my storage units with uhaul locks. This posed a problem for me because I work nights at times and daylight hours were hard for me to work around those restrictions. When my account was restricted I continued to be charged a $10 24hr access fee for months. When I was charged incorrectly for various reasons throughout my stay, he would not correct the error and locked my account to where only him and John, his manager, had access to making any changes or adjustments on my accountI. He took my photo on a cell phone without my permission, assuming I was doing something wrong. And I was NOT! I was infact working very hard to clean up a mess during the moving process where shampoo got all over a box and its entire contents.I feel like it is a complete violation of uhauls policy, if not against the law for a manager or supervisor to give out the code to someone who is not authorized on any account, nor are they an account holder bound by a contract with U-Haul. I have made a formal complaint with U-Haul corporate.
