The staff is friendly and helpful. Will work with you and take time to answer all your questions. This facility has top notch security for each storage unit. plus security cameras thought out the entire building. With large monitors in the office.that scans the building and a monitor that shows when you check-in and disarm the unit. and check-out and arms the unit. as well as shows when you open and close your unit along with a time stamp. it will show when the unit as a alarm. There is always staff on hand. I notes that there are intercoms though out the building to call the front desk. I am very impressed this facility. the cost is good. There are restroom located with in the storage unit areas. scent's it is a U-haul facility/ location that means you can rent moving trucks and trailers there.

The location was great, but the trailer was not and the instructions in the app were terrible.

Simon LeeI was using Public storage for years and this was my first experience with U-haul Storage. I have to say it was far superior in every way. The cleanliness is unparalleled. You could eat off the floors! Even though my space was on the second floor and required elevator access, it was still easy to do with the carts which were always available, easy to find and not all banged up. I was really impressed with this storage facility and would definitely use U-Haul again for all of my moving needs. I would suggest pro-rating and offering a refund or a credit towards another U-Haul product if you move out in the middle of the month and paid for a full month. BreAnna is amazing, she really cares about the customer and understands how stressful moving is and goes way above and beyond to make our experience as pleasant as possible.

I was getting my trailer at the Sunnyvale location and discovered there was no electrical attached to my tow hitch. The part Peter needed was up at Fremont even though we were told there wasn't one. Jonathan researched it and found it so I drove up there and got it. Peter stayed late after to put this on for me so I could move tomorrow. BriAnna offered me some moving help for tomorrow so I could move as scheduled. I do not have adequate words to express my appreciation for how these two locations went above and beyond to help me through a very stressful and challenging time. 10 stars and a deep thank you!!!
Connie NashI rented a two-axle four-tire vehicle transport trailer. The front passenger side tire was more worn than the others. We had a blowout traveling down a busy 4-lane interstate during rush hour. It completely set us back a half day in our journey. Otherwise, things went well. The equipment functioned normally as expected. The U-haul employees I interacted with were friendly and fast.

They called me but I never responded so that does not mean they could cancel my reservation. Very disappointed with Senter Road Uhaul in San Jose but very happy with Laurelwood Uhaul in Santa Clara.

I understand opening a cash drawer is extra work but you still accept cash as payment you need to be able to give out change without making a cost for a white.

However, the man in the front desk gave me a key card. I went to my unit and upon inspection I realized it was a 10x10. I thought they gave me the wrong size unit until I went back to the front desk and the same man explained that I actually had two units that equal to 10x20 right next to each other which is called a split unit which I booked for online. I actually like that it’s a split unit because my children was minding their business in the other room while my wife and I unload everything which is much more safe since I have a toddler and she’s always trying to get into things she’s not supposed to. Often times hurting herself in the process. So I really like the split unit for that reason. It’s also very cool that I was given 2 free locks for my unit. I appreciate that.

Carina Carrillo | First ImpressionsIt was really frustrating experience. There were NOT that many people in the line but the U Haul guy at the desk was so slow (oh my gosh - it was like sleep mode) . We spent good 2 hours for renting the units. We saw so many units had "customer ready" tags so we took the picture and showed him that he can give us a unit that is closer to Elevator - apparently ha does not know how to see which units are vacant and what size on the computer. His comprehension of "What we are asking" was questionable. There was another lady who seemed great but she had to go quickly as an emergency happened (A guy who had rented a hitch - had come off on the highway). Finally we got 2 units after perhaps 1.5 hours standing in the lobby - with 1 or 2 people in line. The units were NOT clean and one of them did not had the rodent trap - we were fortunate that we found Mr Roger, I believe who was cleaning the units - he was fast, happy, intelligent person who immediately took care of it. He told us that he only works on the weekend and he was surprised that the units were dirty and yet had the "Customer Ready" tag on them. He broomed and vacuumed the units and we gave him the Green tags so he knows that who must have cleaned those units. Overall, it was a frustrating, time wasting experience and if I have a choice, I will avoid it. For the facility itself - it was clean and seemed secure. If they change the staff and have the people who "take pride" in what they are doing and are happy - it can make a huge difference.

But my experience with the in person staff at the Santa Clara location during my visit on 03/31 turned it around completely. They were so incredibly friendly, accommodating, efficient, and went so above and beyond to help me, from the person who signed me up for my new storage unit, the fork lift driver, and the greeting staff. It was a stressful day in general; coordinating different pieces, some that fell through, but the customer service I received during that visit was such a relief. Please send my appreciation to the staff at that location.

The thief closed the door and held it shut with a match stick after leaving, and the alarm was left active. Again, it was held closed by a match stick with visible grinder damage, and they didn't contact us after resetting the alarm. Needless to say, we've moved to a different storage solution as soon as we could.

After a very very long day, we got to storage unit and SURPRISE!!!!!!! Unit is in first floor and each floor has one upper level and lower lever, which in order to access to upper level units you have to take 11 stairs and you cannot take the carts directly to the unit. we contacted Uhaul costumer service and they said it is after hours and they cannot help us. Long story short, my wife and I ended up moving all our stuff through the stairs and put in the unit. I have been in very storage facilities and never seen anything like that. Who can move their heavy stuff 11 stairs. Whole point of having storage unit is able to go there by cart and easily load and unload your stuff. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE GET ANY STORAGE UNIT IN THIS FACILITY.

Pros: * No administrative fee * Can move in without having to talk to anyone * Units are fairly cheap * They have not increased my rate yet * A lot of the units come with a lock Cons: * Limited hours unless you are a business owner & have been a customer for at least 30 days (10 PM). The signs in the elevator and on some of the walls are misleading because it says it is available upon request. * Split level units are only accessible via stairs (at least mine was) * Some people like to sneak in behind you without entering a code which can get you kicked out * The map of the facility is a bit confusing. It would be helpful if a custom one were generated for you that highlighted your unit (in yellow or something) on the map and given to you at move in.

He was the same clerk that served me last week and was not very friendly to me then as well. He took a picture of my driver's license which I felt afraid that he may use it for other none U-Haul business outside of his work hours. During the process of signing me in to get me my Access card. he asked if I knew my storage container number. When I said no, he quickly mocked me for not knowing the number of the storage room. When I showed him my Access number in the email I received after making the online purchase I said I don't see it in the transmittal but did see it in the original online order and I didn't remember it. The store manager quickly intervined to avoid further hostility between myself and the clerk and said that the number of the unit is probably further down the email message. She was very nice to me and I appreciated her presence their to prevent the clerk from continuing his bad behavior. I think it was racial bais for the reason of his disrespectful interaction with me. The 1st time was due to the fact the movers we out of business, and the 2nd wanted to add extra fees that totaled over $400. My suggestion would to vet Mover’s schedule and prices and be held accountable before they’re advertised on your site/program. Overall I had a good experience, your staff were very helpful and patient. In the future I would always come to Uhaul for all my storage/moving needs. Thank you

I went to the office twice and called at least they many times to correct my address and eventually gave up. On multiple occasions, disposal was not available at any price for even a single trash bag. The siren in the storage area goes off multiple times per visit, is painful and appears useless as there seems never to be any response, and if anything it hides the sounds of any activities that it would supposedly protect from. Would appreciate access hours available a bit later than 10pm.

This is the 21st century—the Information age—ya’ll can afford computer data bases that talk to each other. I almost lost my stored items to auction because you were using wrong address and no one bothered to call the three phone numbers on file. Unacceptable.

In order to make a living for myself I need access to my tools 24/7 now there were signs all over the facility that said "for 24hr access, please use front door, which I did. Next thing you know Santa Clara police is there accusing of my fiance and I of burgalury, and pointing assault rifles at us, slamming my fiance up against a squad car, calling us liars etc... and picking up our little puppy that was with us, by the scruff of her neck and then just tossing her in the back of the squad car like a rag doll. Then just letting us go, thank you U-Haul for not pressing charges against us (even though we had not committed any crimes on your premises.)

Someone was breaking into storage units including mine they jammed my lock. I was forced to get a lock smith to open the lock. My insurance didn't cover it. You are so far away from where I live I finally gave away the washer n drier just to not have to pay $120 a month anymore. I will never use U-Haul ever again.

Initially you would swipe your card to go in and out just as an accountability of you using your storage unit. However, eventually they changed it to swiping in and then also swiping another box in order to open up the doors without notifying the customers. I understand the change was a deterrent for random people coming into the storage area but there was a moment I went to the storage unit and the doors didn’t work and the office wasn’t open yet so it was an inconvenience to me.

While your facility was very well kept, and immaculately clean, and your staff (especially Alex Wentworth and manager Levi) were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and polite, I still don't understand how you could not have better camera coverage of at least the entrance areas nor of the surrounding parking lots, and why the alarms on the units were basically useless after hours (police said they didn't have license plate on the car that the thief used, nor any usable video to identify him, and no one responded to the alarm going off). And why the door latch could be broken on the side, rendering that heavy disc lock you recommend useless. We lost more than $15,000 of items, including a vintage and very rare guitar (irreplaceable, only 1,000 in existence), winter clothing, CDs/DVDs, computer equipment and most hurtful of all, our only copies of honestly thousands of personal photos, cards, documents and letters. As we had the smallest possible unit and we were upstairs, it seems clear to us that we were scouted by thieves before the robbery, but even with that no one could provide the police with suspects. So I have no idea where the cameras are, but to tout your keycard, alarm and lock system as being secure was clearly untrue. In short, we had a terrible U-Haul experience, and will not be recommending anything to anyone other than to stay away. I don't blame the team at the office as the choices on not having adequate cameras, actual alarm follow up or stronger unit doors are all corporate choices and probably standard at all locations (and likely choices made with cost savings in mind). We can never get our family photos and personal items replaced. That didn't have to happen if U-Haul held up their end of the bargain and truly had a secure facility.

However, the door to the climate controlled area which is supposed to be opened for only renters of a storage unit, is open to anyone without needing to use the access card. There is no control on who enters the facility, so I personally felt unsafe leaving my stuff there. A paper notice at the elevator entrance that said “don’t store mattresses. Fee will be charged”. In my storage unit, there was a rat trap. The ceiling did not flush with the walls of the unit and the AC did not properly work which made the odors in the facility nauseating. The cost is the cheapest in the Bay Area, so it does align with the condition of the facility. I ended up checking out the following day after renting one unit since I found another facility at a much better condition (higher cost as well) that better suits my needs. This place is great to store items that don’t need much care such as sky set, bicycles, table and lamp stand. Clothes, furniture, etc run the risk of exposure to pests.

The facility itself is great but the people running it are lacking in excellent customer service.
