The parking spaces need to be wider. The UHail van that I leased was parked in a very narrow parking space & a UHaul rental truck was parked behind it. When I backed the van out of the narrow space, I put a small scrape on the van. The UHaul rental truck should never have been parked behind the van. I should have asked the staff to move it. Instead, I had to pay an extra $150 deductible per your insurance agreement due to the damage to the van. Had the UHaul rental truck had not been parked behind the van, my accident would not have occurred. If I rent another UHaul from that location, I will have the staff pull out any vehicle for me to drive.

My first experience with a male employee picking up boxes was great as he was very helpful and informative. When I picked up the trailer it was less of an experience. I had to load the trailer myself. Picking up a very heavy trailer with a very dirty hitch in the rain and hooking it to my vehicle with nothing to clean my hands with before getting into my vehicle. She got me checked out but was not rude but also not friendly.

I had to call to upgrade my unit before arrival because of some logistics that changed with my move and she was super helpful swapping out my reservation and making sure everything was ready to go including a backup gate code in case the original one didn't work. It was the smoothest part of my entire move and I'm so grateful for that.

I had used U-Haul many years ago but have been using Budget and Penske since. I chose to utilize U-Haul again and am very happy that I did. This facility went way beyond my expectations...very quick checking out the truck and even better return transaction. The truck was VERY clean and even smelled good. GREAT job U-Haul team. Every time we rent a truck from there we have to clean the windows and windshield and most of the time the floors are not cleaned. The wipers were so dry rotted the windshield was scratched. Poor servicing of the units we rent for the price we pay. Not a good store!!!

The truck was pretty good. We used it for 6 hours. It was reasonable for the cost. Probably moved on one of the coldest days of the 2024 year. The female kept me waiting for 20 minutes but I didn't get any extra time with the truck. She was on the phone with another client. Thank you.

We had horrible customer service at the Columbia location. The website let us make reservations for a place that is just a hub and not actual trucks can be rented. I was told I was just out of luck and I guess was expected to find a different way to move. Called the Jeff city store and the manager was super nice and friendly. Helpful once we arrived at the store and let us complain and he apologized for the 2 rude employees I talked to in Columbia and on the customer service line.

There were a couple of things I noticed, first, the halls/doorways are a bit narrow, a lot of maneuvering the cart around to get around the corners and through the doorways but with some maneuvering it can be done. Also, there are signs posted that say " if you don't check out upon leaving access will be denied on your next visit." I did push the button for assistance to "check out", it was during office hours, and I could hear someone talking upstairs before I left my unit, but no one answered the call button so I'm not sure what happened there. I was not denied access the next day either so who knows why that is posted. Nice, clean facility overall, just waiting on the confirmation that I am not going to get a bill because I was moved out the day before my bill was due and have been told by two people that I would receive a confirmation email. For now, I will save the survey email I guess.

Water leaked inside the storage shed and ruined two mattresses and a box spring. Also ruined a wedding canvas that was our guest book. My fault for not getting insurance, but the unit should have been maintained to where water would not get into the unit. Would not use these units again.

The policy to not refund extra gas is barbaric. I put $94 in the tank and that was $50 unused for my trip. Being told I'm shit out of luck by your GM on Ellis in Jefferson City. This day and age it is simple how to calculate how much I'm owed. Your policy needs updating, otherwise you're continuing to steal from your customers!

The building was clean on move in. I rented the building for about three years and there was a lot of dust accumulation on my furniture in that time. Mud dabber nests were inside the unit and it looked like the roof might have leaked at one time. After the first year, rent seemed to increase about $25/month/year. I decided buying a used shipping container was cheaper in the long run

I recently last year September 2022 lost my grandmother. She was ALWAYS on time with her storage and was never late even if she wanted to be late. After going through hard times with her, a relative was supposed to be responsible for her storage and I’m assuming forgot about it. I was thinking one day “grandmas storage” called and someone told me it was up for auction. I immediately Got details from the office on how to get her storage back and they explained I could bid on it. Long story short was able to connect with the Store Manager Chandell and he was absolutely understanding and stayed connected with me to pay what I bid for and to get the name transferred over to me, etc. The amount of genuine communication but respect for this location goes a long way. Chandell, thank you for all you did to help me out. One things for sure, I’m sure you understood my importance of not losing anything that was sentimental to my Grandmother after losing her. Thanks for the 1st month of storage free as well. Thanks for your teams support as well. You guys are more than the best, Natasha

Maintenance of the inside storage not as good as when we first rented space. The autos and other things stored behind the building are becoming eyesores and make it hard sometimes to turn your vehicle around. They also make it look run down and unsafe even though it is fenced off. This is the only way to access the 2nd floor storage and should be kept up better.

Uhaul advertising that they have security cameras when in fact they only have cameras for the inside storage units and not the self storage, as many of us learned this past week when several where broken into after hours leading to thousands of dollars in stolen items.

I rented in Fairland Oklahoma going to Jefferson City. I got the trailer and didn't realize the lights were not working properly. When I got to Jefferson City I was told it's cheaper to keep the trailer rather than rent a storage. Apparently I was untitled to free storage for thirty day but kept paying for the trailer because I was told it was cheaper.

Parking lot where l stored my Jeep was never scraped at two different times when it snowed. I called the office on two occasions to take care of the snow so l can have easy access to my Jeep; manager promised to clear snow but did not keep his promise. I had to physically come to my Jeep and cleared out the snow around it so l can go back and forth the gated parking lot. I was disappointed, hence hoping management will quickly fix this problem for future customers.

The facility and people are great. I can't say the same for the rules. I purchased some moving boxes and then didn't need them. They had never been unfolded. It was less than a week after I made the purchase and tried to return them. In the process of moving, I couldn't locate a receipt. The boxes had obviously never been used. The manager tried to look up the sale and the system didn't go back longer than a week. Really? Not acceptable. So I ended up having boxes I didn't need or use.

The first guy I spoke with was new and didn’t know what he was doing. The older lady was extremely rude to me when I was in there and was extremely rude to my wife and her mother when they were having issues with the gate code not working. My storage unit also allowed rain water in and damaged multiple items and several boxes. The storage unit also had oil stains which thankfully only got on the bottom of boxes and not on any furniture. I would NEVER recommend any U-Haul based purely on the lack of customer service that I had received. You could tell that the employees hated their jobs. Sad.

My answers to this survey apply only to my 5x5' climate-controlled storage unit (#2320). I had a 10x20' non-climate-controlled unit (#162) rented through this same U-Haul location, and discovered yesterday when emptying both units that in unit #162, i had water-damaged furniture & boxes of household items. Fortunately, i had elected to have insurance through U-Haul on the contents in this unit & will be making contact today.

I first made my reservation online and when I went to pick up a lock and paperwork, I was not in the system. Then it took about an hour in the office to make a new reservation in person. I was then told my code for the gate would not work for 24hrs. So, I had to come back the next weekend. When I pulled up to the gate, the code did not work, the intercom button did not work, so I had to call. They again, could not find me in the system. Even though I had all of my paperwork.... I was asked to come up to the main office. Took another 20 minutes to make another, new reservation. I never got an apology or anything. Very poor customer service.

There was a definite process to access my unit but no email was sent to me to explain that when I set it up online. I was supposed to access a particular driveway and put codes in at certain places. Below POOR!!!! Manager Chandell lied about 24/7 max security property with camera surveillance as the camera system where I was put "was not working." Homeless people walked the property freely living in their units their presence acknowledged by Chandell, office staff and maintenance!! Entire staff also knowingly acknowlwdge MANY issues with locks AFTER my unit was robbed!! Maintenance claimed they checked doors nightly. Never saw maintenance on prperty. I was not give the U-Haul required lease agreement that would have provided insurance for my stolen belongings but insted moved in under an old driver licence with no signatures which denied my claim with Republic Western by representitive (John) even before the police report was made availabe. Becky Hall claimed to look into my situation and lied about calling me back claiming she had written down a wrong number! Which would have been availabe had the proper lease agreement been provided! Family heirlooms, safe full of legal and financial documents as well as MANY personal items GONE!! Shame on you U-Haul of Jefferson City Missouri off Ellis Blvd!! Further action being taken as NOT one UHaul representive has stepped up to the plate as a result of this!!

Many pests. Bait trap killed one mouse. Mouse droppings/pee everywhere. Mouse chewed through mattress protector so tons of brown recluse babies on/in mattress. Furniture stunk. Lost most belongings.

The new manager Dominique Maxwell is rude and hateful and is the reason I moved my stuff to another storage facility that is not uhaul.
