One person working. The ossue wasn't with her. 45 minutes to get a piece of reserved equipment. Plus, I kept getting calls asking if I still intended to pick tge trailer I rented. I hope I never need another piece of equipment. Uhaul on Parham was a nightmare.

Jerome KI was dropping after hours and was told to use the App. Didn't work, tried the on line chat. Told to use the web site. Didn't work. . Called 800 number. was told that a note was put in the file. Called the branch the next morning. Did not seem that they saw or read the note. Was told that since I had so much trouble that they would not charge me extra. Not sure why I spent over an hour attempting to notify U-haul on line when it seems that it was ineffective. Good thing I called in the morning. This process should be more simple.
JOHN S1 - passenger door lock would not unlock with key. One of the other trucks had a broken door that would not close. 2 - the windshield cardboard had not been removed. 3 - the truck was parked too close to other vehicles, and we could not get into the passenger door 4 - the U-Haul app was not working and many customers in the store were complaining about it. The manager said that was normal. 5 - was difficult putting the transmission into park. 6 - was difficult releasing the parking brake 7 - the gas tank was about 1/4 full
terry cHuge line going almost out the door with only one person to assist at the counter. She was doing her best but there needed to be more staff on a busy Saturday. The wait was incredibly long and I picked up my reserved vehicle nearly an hour and a half after the time that I had reserved it for, despite having checked in online a week in advance. Because the wait was so long, I missed the window I had for several of my friends who were helping to move and thus could not provide any assistance. I would urge anyone looking for a U-Haul in this area to try to pick up a truck elsewhere.
Timothy BWe had an 1100 reservation to pick up a cargo van. Arrived at 1045 and wasn’t helped until almost 1200. I am not sure what the issue was but waiting over an hour to be helped and get our vehicle is unacceptable

tysha J | Overall Experiencei get that i arrive at 5:01 when the location closed at 5, but all they kept saying was put the key in the box, not telling me to check the truck in through the app or online. i tried asking for help, but all they said was put the key in the box. terrible customer service and when i called the next day not really helpful and my truck wasnt checked in until almost four hours after they opened.
BRANDON PEverything they advertise is way too small. I rented a 20' truck that they said fits a 2-3 bedroom home. I live alone, the 2nd bedroom is sparsely furnished, and the 3rd bedroom is empty so it's technically a 2 bedroom and I don't even own a kitchen table. I minimized my belongings quite a bit prior to moving with yard sales, Goodwill trips, etc. and my stuff barely fit in this truck. A whole family with an actual 3 bedroom home worth of stuff would fill two of these trucks. Same issue at the storage facility - I got the size rated to fit my size of home and it was a seriously tight fit, despite the fact that I own about 1/2 the amount of stuff that a typical 2-3 bedroom home would have. If you owned a typical amount of stuff I could easily see a family being stranded at the last minute with their stuff not fitting in the truck and no ability to rent a larger one at the last second.

charles mThis location failed miserably from a customer service perspective. 1. The length of time I had to wait 2. I reserved a dolly which did not get. They said they did not have any. 3. The woman at the counter, she said she was the manager, told me I had to purchase the insurance if I could not produce a copy of my State Farm insurance policy. Since I did not have a copy of my policy this cost me more money. When checking in over the web and in the email confirmation it states that the insurance is optional. 4. There was no clear instructions about where to return the vehicle. There were trucks and trailers all over the lot. It was a real mess.

Stanley W | Overall ExperienceGreat location, but it appears to be understaffed and overwhelmed. Not a clear direction on where to bring the trailer. This was mainly because the return area was too full of other vehicles that were being cleaned by an employee that had no ability to provide guidance. The single-person inside took a bit to acknowledge me and then said to pull the vehicle under the tent that could not be reached (too many other vehicles blocking). The one person in the return area was working on another person's trailer and was not eager to direct where the rental should go or assist with the disconnect.

Yony GTerrible customer service. I was not informed my box was running late. I had to talk to multiple people to even get an updated ETA which I didn't get until my box was already 2 days late. I spent hours on the phone with customer service with people that had no information and I was transferred to numbers for locations that were not open 2 different times. Once after I specifically asked "are you sure they are open right now?". Apparently the girl on the phone doesn't have the best grasp of time zones. I was not told what the fee would be for delivery to my apartment until it was charged on my credit card. Also, when I called to schedule my delivery the girl at the store said my delivery was scheduled for the next day and I would get my box then. I then pointed out that uhaul didn't have my address so she then took it down so my delivery could actually happen. The day my pod was getting delivered I got a call asking if uhaul could pick it up that day instead of the following day. You guys had scheduled my pickup for the day after it was delivered. My mom is moving in about 6 months and was going to use uhaul if I had a good experience and now she isn't. Also, one of her coworkers was looking into different moving pods and she told them not to use uhaul. I am going to tell everyone I know that is moving not to use Uhaul.
Alyssa BAgent tried to push me into downloading and checking in with phone app (at the behest of her supervisor). Just let people choose. If they want to talk to a human being, they will. If they want to use the app and avoid talking to anyone, they'll do that on their own. No need to push anyone into doing something they don't want to.

Lori WMy original pickup location on Broad St was not available when I arrived at 8am. The location was also closed. I had to call into customer service and they transferred me to another location. This was very annoying, how was this overlooked that a truck was not available, booked weeks in advance. On top of that the moving company I used, booked through your web site, the guy had an attitude and would not speak to me. I was issued only $50 refund for the tru inconvenience but I feel it should be more due to the stress and switching locations.

Barry WStaff here are very friendly, knowledgeable and provide good customer service. That being said I did not have an incident free rental experience. The chain connection between my vehicle and the trailer was hanging too low to the ground. This caused the chain to make contact with the road surface during my trip. In addition the electrical connection between my vehicle and the trailer was too long and hung very low above the roadway. Halfway thru my trip I had to request emergency road side service with U-Haul due to the electrical connection being damaged due to road surface contact. The emergency service provided was outstanding and kudos to Oscar from Lil Pete's Garage for providing excellent service.

Teri CParham Rd location is the largest and busiest in the Richmond area yet it has only one person assisting customers when I tried to return truck around 6 PM when several people were waiting. I also was unable to return the truck using the UHaul app on my phone as the app would not recognize the location even though it had access to location services. I had not yet received the return confirmation email as of 9 AM the next morning so I called and was able to get the associate to check in the vehicle and then received the final bill.
Paul FI rented an enclosed trailer on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 7:30 and returned it the same day at about 3:30 (Reservation #73007669). When I checked it in, I was told by the person that I would receive a receipt for the return shortly via email. The staff seemed so confused during the whole return process. They couldn’t seem to figure out how to remove the trailer. Once they removed it, all the associates just walked away. I waited for a period behind my vehicle for a receipt and finally the employee yelled across the lot that she would send me an email confirmation. I did not receive an email confirmation by that evening as promised so I called the support line and was told it had not been returned and to call the return location the next morning. On Sunday, March 17. I spoke to an associate who said I would receive the email confirmation by Sunday Evening. It was Tuesday, March 19 and I had not gotten confirmation for this return. I registered a complaint with online support and within minutes of my complaint finally received a return receipt, which doesn’t reflect the accurate date and time of my return. This is my first time renting from U-Haul and have never had to wait this long for the confirmation of any rental return.
Craig HCustomer service is horrible. I call a few times the scheduling department was clueless on what they where doing. My pick location got changed in 15 min before I arrived, for which I already drove one and half hour to get too.

sam aI was well served by the staff when I made my truck reservation and then made a last minute change. My only complaint is that the location is understaffed - which led to unusual long waiting times. I waited over a half-hour at the facility to turn in my rental truck only to learn - when I got to the front of the line - that I could have just dropped off the key and saved myself the wait. That information was important and there is no excuse for the facility to not have a "vehicle return" queue with instructions about dropping off keys, contracts, etc. Why aren't there self-serve kiosks for check-in at the facility? Airlines have these kiosks. Why not U-Haul? Would speed up the process for half of your customers.
Michael PI paid for the furniture pads and wasn’t given them. I asked if I could take them on the way out and was told that they would bring them out. They forgot, including myself. Other than that, it was good.
Leon LI have called & written several times over the last 2+ weeks without response. I was told I would not be charged for the blankets. I was also told I would receive a credit which I have not received. I will not use this facility again & will not recommend it.

Michael RI bought the uhaul insurance hoping it would cover any issues. You all tucked the roadside assistance in an additional insurance coverage. I feel screwed now that I have a $400 road side assistance Bill because that coverage was hidden under another charge. Next time I'll just hire movers with anywhere but uhaul.

On 4 separate occasion I went to my storage to find an additional lock placed on the unit with a note saying see office to get a circle lock. I would then walk around the building wait in line only to be told that they had no circle locks. 4 trips same result. As a business owner I feel you are wasting time having workers place locks for this reason then having to remove them because the inventory is not in. This not the not waste company funds but also customers time. The last time I had 3 items to move out and was there an hour and a half. One hour of that was the walk the wait in line and it was full the the wait for the worker to unlock. Do better Thanks

I already came in with extenuating circumstances due to another U-Haul related issue but the initial representative did not even attempt to try to help me. He instantly pawned me off to another line to speak with someone else without first even reviewing any details and attempting to assist me. It took too long overall for something that should have been relatively simple. Once I was actually assisted, it flowed quite well and the associate was very helpful but it was irritating.

When we arrived at the U-Haul facility, each and every one of the staff were friendly, accomodating, and incredibly helpful. They got us quickly checked in and oriented to the facility. The facility was well-organized, clean, and incredibly accessible. It tooks us hours to get our daughter's apartment belongings into the truck -- but once we arrived at Paul's location, we were unloaded in well under an hour. That was thanks entirely to the staff (including Paul and his team) as well as the site itself: it was fantastic and accessible, and the staff made sure we had everything we needed to make the final step of our move successful and easy. I would recommend this facility to anyone considering a move in or around the Richmond area. I would give it six stars if I could.

I wish there was some sort or attendant to help with the customer access. There were young college students block the garage doors with a uhaul truck that didn’t fit inside the door, they were playing by riding on the carts, and they just sat there blocking other cars and trucks from going inside. Not to mention people taking all the carts.

I love the pull in access bays for vehicles - that was awesome and I haven’t seen it elsewhere. Most importantly though, Brittany was super kind and helpful, even going out of her way to help show us alternate access paths to our space.

DIANNAMARIE F | Overall ExperienceWhen I got to the storage facility to move into my storage unit I already had a U-Haul truck filled with my belongings. I had a unit reserved in advance in an attempt to avoid any headaches at the facility. When I went to claim my unit it turned out that the unit I had reserved already had someone else's stuff in it. The woman at the counter then tried to locate another unit. We walked to two units and they were occupied already. After striking out she wrote down a few numbers and disappeared for a while trying to locate a vacant unit. She could not find one. Finally, after what felt like an hour of waiting and searching, she told me that there were some outside units available. She told me that I would be charged the same rate for the outside units as I was for the inside unit I was originally trying to rent. I moved my stuff into the unit and thought nothing more of it. About a month later I received an email from U-Haul saying my reservation had been cancelled. Immediately concerned with the status of my belongings I stopped what I was doing at work and called the U-Haul office. I was told that my reservation had never been completed in the system and that I needed to give some information over to correct it. I went ahead and handed over my card to be charged and some other contact info. This is when I discovered I actually would not be receiving a discount and would be paying the full price for the outside unit. Now I am paying $45 more a month for a unit that was too large for my needs in the first place. I am unable to get there in person to move my belongings for the next few months and now feel like I've been swindled.

One day I had to wait 45 minutes (with only two customers in front of me- and about 6 behind) because there was only one person working. He was literally with that customer the entire 45 mins. Finally, the manager came out from the back room/office and helped. I needed something a few days ago, went in to ask fir help and the line was all the way to the door with only one employee working (the same one as last time) so i didn’t even wait this time!!!

ROSHAN P | First ImpressionsWhen I first got there with my family and my moving company, I had to go into the office to get my unit number and things... i get in the office there was a line that I had to stand in for 20 mins, I finally get to the desk for someone to help me and this older man names JIM was suppose to help me, I told him I was in a rush due to my moving truck is waiting for me and they get paid by the hour. After I told him that I was in the rush he goes let me tie my shoe before I fell attending to important business. So he has no rush with him at all. He then goes to look up my information and he tells me that I told have a reservation, I stated to him that could not be true because I called and make a reservation over the phone 2 weeks ago and I actually have 2 reservation, one for a tow along trailer and one for the storage unit that I was waiting on. He kept telling me that he did not see anything and that he could get me into a new unit. I then tell him that that's fine but I am not happy because this is a huge inconvenience on me and that's why I called in advance. He then takes me to a unit model and I tell him that I need one for a 2 bedroom apartment, he goes well I don't know if this is for a two bedroom. I tell him well that's what I need, he goes well this is all that I have. I said fine I will take it. By now I am furious, he goes to the computer and I am telling I need for him to rush because my movers are still just sitting outside waiting on my dime and nothing is getting done. He tells me that I need to stop raising my voice at him, I told him that you clearly do not understand or Care how frustrating this is to me why are you not showing any compassion as I am a upset customer and this is not my fault. So instead of him trying to tell me and rush and put my information in the system he just stands there. I say again why are you just standing there looking around when you need to be doing your job to help me, he goes he can't work under these circumstances. I ask for someone over him number so I can call he would not help with that, the nice gentleman that was actually a new man it was his first day helped me and gave me a managers number, his name was Mr o Neil and told me to call him right away. The new guy names gjuan I believe that's how you spell it was more help to me and nice and patient. I called Mr I Neil and he pulled up my reservation within seconds and got me all set with my unit in under 20 minutes. Now mind you for 55 minutes just dealing with this Jim guy my movers were sitting getting nothing done and I had to pay them for them to sit at the end of there Job. 55 minutes was just waisted and taken out of my pockets because of this Jim man. This was the worse unnecessary experience that I had to deal with and was not fair to me. I completely feel like something needs to be done about this situation!!!!!!

Including the day I moved in when I got to my assigned unit I found a huge support beam in the middle of it. Staff should know where these are and let people know given the amount of room they take out of the space I’m paying for. The next month I got a lock on my unit and a late fee because my payment wasn’t auto drafted like I instructed it to be. I called and made the payment and went to the office to ask if there was a still a lock on my unit and someone walked out with me to check and when we got there and found a lock on it, he had to leave me standing there longer while he went back to get the key. Why wouldn’t an employee bring the key with him to save a trip and my time? Another time in December y’all were doing construction and I didn’t know how to get in. Went to the office and was hastily told go around the other side. Went to the other side and spent 10 minutes walking around and up and down hallways and never did find a way in. Didn’t bother asking the office again as they were no help the first time and by this point I was tired of having to make multiple trips every single time I needed something from the office. Based off the storage aspect of your business, i like it just fine. Your employees really turned me off to your whole place. The day I went in to tell them I was moving was the only time I didn’t have a problem. I should have never moved in after the first day. I walked from the office to the unit 4 times in one visit just to get a unit that didn’t have a huge support beam in it and the whole process took over 1.5 hours. I fully understand the need for the support beams but you should really have your employees at the very least know where they are and off or a discount on those units. I’m not going to pay full price for a unit I have to Tetris my belongings into. If you’re charging for a 5x10 unit, all that space should be available.

First, we wanted and rented. 10x7 but when we went to it it was a 5x5 with a beam in the middle. Then we got a 10x 8 because that was the best they had. In any event, when I went later in the week for the first time the latch was not working. Christian, who was alone helped me and even he had to work at it. Great young man by the way. Need more people working on the weekends. It took a few tries get the access code working in the system. It would have been quicker and less stressful for everyone if I could have done this online.

I found out 2 days after my monthly payment was deducted from my bank account that I was approved for a house and that I could move in that weekend. When I contacted uhaul about a possible refund since I wouldnt be needing the unit for that month I was told no they dont issue refunds and they just suggest you dont move out til right before you payment is due. Had I known I would be approved that quickly I would have moved my stuff out early. So I was out almost $100 for that. Then when I put in my move out request on the day I moved out (may 31) everything was good to go as I was told..but then today (june 28) I checked my account and they had deducted another $100 now I have to wait 3-5 days to have that money refunded to me.

Not to mention having to move stuff from in front of my unit a few times that someone had placed in front of it. Overall just wasn't happy finding bugs so I took my stuff out because I'm not paying for pest.

This time, I needed parking/storage for a trailer and they had just the solution I needed.
