All my service calls to the Uhaul call center were amazing!!
However, the lady I dealt with at the Sidney/Saanich store seemed really moody when I picked up the van. Unfortunately she was the one who also met me during drop off and again, seemed moody and unnecessarily demanding. Overall, the experience was not friendly and the uhaul was covered in dirt upon arrival and the fuel not full (making it difficult to estimate how much fuel to fill it back up again before returning it to the facility). I ended up overfilling it, of course - costing me more money than necessary. I will rent from a different uhaul store next time in hopes to have a more positive experience.

Vehicle was a substitute from original order and whilst the truck was clean the engine maintenance needed some attention. The vehicle , which had USA plates, was in dire need of attention to omit the noises it constantly made whilst being driven. Left me unsure if I would arrive at my destination or breakdown first!.

Nothing, the drop off staff was completely helpful.
My booking requested a pick up location in Langley, which is 50km (30 mi) from this location in Chilliwack. The rental only included 100km (60mi) of driving, so I lost half of my driving distance before I even started the truck, and had to spend an additional two hours of my day coming to get it. Thankfully the drop-off location didn't charge me for the extra distance I drove (I think I totalled at 130km/80mi), but I won't get the gas money back for that portion, nor will my friend who drove me out there.
Next time, relocate the truck somewhere closer, or get your online booking system to better reflect what's available in what locations so I can make an informed decision whether I want to go 100km and two hours out of my way to get a U-Haul, or whether I would rather pay a little more and rent something from a closer vendor.

Please update your site. I was offered l month of free storage, as a I had rented a truck (a one way rental). I reserved a rental locker (small), based on the offer of one free month, and I was told I would not have to pay until 4 weeks later. At the counter, I was then charged $89.99. When I asked why I was being charged $89, the gentleman told me “oh that isn’t offered anymore”.
Additionally, I was also trying to add insurance to the locker rental, and kept hitting the “add insurance” button, and that didn’t work. When I questioned my difficulties, I was told once again “oh, they don’t offer that anymore.”
If the so-called incentives that are mentioned on your website - “free storage for a month, and insurance recommendations” are “no longer valid” then please remove them. This is actually false advertising, and had I known ahead of time, that these perks were no longer offered, I would have gone somewhere else to find storage.
Please note that I was happy with the service I received from Ian (@ Sidney, BC location), but very disappointed with the false advertising.

If I need to store anything I will be back. Oh and I like it when the payment is made by taking out of my account. It made my life easier.

Apart from my setting off the alarm a few times (forgot my password; and on checking out again, I tried the very clean washroom access instead of punching my number into the departure number code!) this was exactly what I needed while downsizing between my too large mansion to my new much smaller condo suite. The only catch - it is a very popular place and there can be (usually is) a waiting list for storage. Thanks U-Haul.

The storage units now have no lights in them. I hear there was one or more fire problems that caused this response. This is a very crude stop-gap measure, and a program of protected LED lights could have been installed within a month or two. The company seems cheap and inconsiderate in this regard.

My husband and I used U-Haul Sidney long term and were every happy with the experience. Sonja has trained her staff well; they are courteous, knowledgeable and genuinely want to help. The office is well-stocked and orderly. The enter-exit machines worked evert time. The unisex bathroom is decorated, clean, and shows that someone went above and beyond to make it welcoming. Trucks were always available and were washed immediately after drop-off. Never did I see litter around any of the storage units. Our unit was leak-free, insect-free and rodent-free and our belongings were in the sane condition coming out as they were going in. Visiting the unit alone, at no time did I feel unsafe. Friendly staff and very secure storage. Mine was the small unit and was unheated with no interior light. The hall was well lit however so I just bought a battery operated motion light which worked well in the end. Their alarm system totally is in excellent working order and is very loud. I know first hand because I accidentally set it off by putting in an incorrect code. Man alive I was embarrassed but the attendant was very nice about it. I have used this storage facility 3 times in my lifetime and always will when I am in the area.
