It was horrible. This is why we left. No one is ever available on site, and y’all took over a place that was a good price and increased it. It wasn’t safe, it was inconvenient, and even checking out has been a hassle.

Hello U-Haul, A few notes and suggestions. -This survey is nice way to receive feedback - you should ask it to current users, instead of when people close their account. I imagine you'd have a higher response rate. -Regarding the survey, you should re-consider the questions you have asked, or at least add a "n/a" option. I left a couple questions blank as they are not applicable. -This particular storage unit was supposed to be "climate controlled". I have picture documentation of that not being the case. -U-Haul, in general, has had very poor communication. For example, there was a time when the keypad code for entering was changed (new one added; old one taken off-line but still existed) but there was no communication at all about this. I had called Customer Support about this and it turns out the new one was added and the old one "had a plastic bag over it" to denote it was no longer in use - but the plastic bag had blown off. -The location of the current keypad is unideal as you are unable to reach it from your car as it is too close to the gate. -The gate opens VERY, VERY slowly. You should implement the "text to open" system. "10 Federal Storage" had this feature before U-Haul took over. -In my short time having this unit, the monthly price increased on three separate occasions, yet the services, amenities, features, etc. remained sub-par. -It's difficult to recommend this U-Haul unit to anyone for all of the above reasons.

The absolute worse experience moving I have EVER had. Firstly, we drive all day to pick up a truck close to our storage unit and once we arrive the truck is completely boxed in, surrounded by other trucks and unable to move. After an hour and a half, talking to three different customer service agents, we are sent to a different facility. Once there, the online service is not working and we call customer service for a fourth time, we are HUNG UP ON. The fifth customer service agent was EXTREMELY rude and honestly a huge bitch. We explained we had been sitting in a parking lot for just over 2 hours at that point after driving since 9am (it was after 9pm at this point) and she basically tells us to just shut up. Are you kidding me? We eventually are able to get our equipment and head to our storage unit but going through 5 different calls and 5 different agents sitting in a parking lot for almost 4 hours is absolutely intolerable, insufferable, unsatisfactory, and blatantly ridiculous. This was truly the WORST experience I have ever had, not only with moving, but with with any business.

I missed a payment and had a lock put on my storage unit. After making up the payment, I went by to move my things out. The lock had not been removed several days after the payment had been made, and I was unable to move out my things before the next month's payment was due. I feel this was intentionally done and caused me to lose out on more money. I emailed the uhaul service account and received no help.

When I did everything online, it was great. I submitted the contract, completed the online move in and received all my unit information. Even set up the auto payments. My move in date was 8/29, but our move was delayed so we had planned to move in on the 30th. When I was checking for the unit number, the UHaul app no longer had the information. When I called I was told there was no storage unit in my name and it was suggested maybe when they did the check and there was no lock on the unit, we were moved out. That was so nerve racking because we had just moved and driven 12 hours with all of our belongings. It was incredibly stressful. They were really nice and able to put the same unit back in our name. It worked out but I still feel worried about it. Other than that, everything was nice and I’m happy with it.

While my belongings were safe during my two year hiatus, access to them upon my return was troubling to say the least. In 2021, I removed the green tab and found a provided COMBINATION LOCK inside my unit. I returned home yesterday to retrieve them for moving day and contacted the office for the combination, because I couldn't remember it. I was provided with "5380 is the combination Mr Hopkins". While on the phone with storage staff, I let them know that this combo did not work. I was then told that the lock was not theirs and I have to contact a third party locksmith. After disputing the origin of the lock, I was then given the runaround. I was then told that I was provided with a key lock originally. I refuted this claim, asking, "why was I being provided a four digit combination for a key lock?". Staff states, "you have a good point, but there's nothing we can do for you". Upset after debating over who should have to pay for the locksmith for access, I asked for the managers name to contact. I was denied the information with the statement, "we already talked to management and there isn't anything that we can do for you, we can't reimburse locksmith fees.". I continued to attempt to contact you all for the managers name to which the phone stopped being answered. I feel completely wronged after abiding by my contract for two years, then being lied to and denied simple contact information. I paid the locksmith $135 and don't feel as though I am responsible because of staffs agreement with my point, but refusal to accept being held accountable. I would love to have a conversation with management about this matter. My number is 9194234038.

I have face problem while I was went pick my luggage. My code was not working and then finally I know some one checked out to me in system. I was trying to connect uhal customer care and store but not able to connect then finally I drive 10 miles and reach to their location and then they reassigned the same store room. And finally I was able to take my stuff from store room.

There was no lock inside the unit as indicated online and by staff. When I called I was told that there was nothing they could do and I should not have moved my things in. I explained that I had specific time constraints and the truck had to be turned in so I had to leave my things. I also let him kmow I was at the hospital with my husband and wss unable to lrave. I was then told that UHAUL would not be responsible for any loss that might occur. I did call again the next morning and spoke with an agent who was most helpful. He let me know that someone would go and put a lock on my u.it and I could pick up the keys.

The facility was not secure — many times I would drive by and the main gate was stuck open (and it would stay open for days). Furthermore, I witnessed several homeless people living in one of the units. I tried submitting issues via the website and using the email address provided on the monthly bills — but those messages were never answered.

Using U-Haul has been a nightmare. From getting overcharged, not being able to move out, having to spend weeks calling just trying to get assistance with questions regarding the unit, payments, etc., not getting consistent answers/information from team members, staff members no-show for appointments, and more, this whole storage experience has been horrible and has made me scared to ever rent a storage unit again. I’ve reached out about moving out 3-4 times after being incorrectly charged an extra month and still haven’t received a response. I’m incredibly disappointed and dissatisfied with my experience with this location and will not be using u-haul in the future thanks to this.

I have to give all excellent experience to Jeremy. This man gave customer service like no other. He was very knowledgeable, helped me decide exactly what I needed, never pushed me to purchase anything I truly didn’t need.. This man is a true asset for UHaul. Not only did I rent a truck from UHaul I rented a storage from you also off of Sedgwick. Thank you Jeremy you’re truly a great man.

The address at 2217 Sedwick Rd in Durham NC is a remote location with no office or staff to physically check in. This was not communicated in the reservation nor on the phone when making the reservation. We arrived to the location on the reservation and then had to drive to a different location to check in which should have been mentioned in the reservation and also on the phone when initially calling in to reserve a unit. It wasn't until we called for help to U-Haul that we were told we had to go to a totally different location to check in. This is very unacceptable for a business to have customers drive to a location written on the reservation then have to go to a different place 15 minutes away when all that needed to be done was include check in procedures with the correct address to do so in person. This is an inconvenience that could have been avoided. This rating DOES NOT reflect the staff at the check in on New Raleigh Rd. It reflects not telling customers they have to go to a different address to check in in person. The staff once we got to the second address on New Raleigh Rd was helpful.

when I went to the center to move in the staff was not there and it was not open even thought it was during the operating hours. Because of this my move in day was delayed. And was charged extra miles for the truck I rented. When I was finally able to move in the facility was so dirty and disgusting. Very disappointed

Once U Haul took over from One Federal, the price was increased immediately. Then there was another price increase 2 months ago, and both of these came with absolutely no prior notification. In my opinion, not the way you should be doing business. Anytime that I tried calling to speak with someone at my local office, I would end up routed through some call center. And lastly, I paid the rent on September 1st, but moved out on the 10th, and there is no kind of prorated refund. When I moved in it was prorated, but guess your business are all about getting more.

Great experience storing my items. Storage unit was very clean and easy to get to. Only con is there are no bathrooms at this site but there is a gas station near that you can go to if needed. Was not a huge deal to me so 5 stars it is. Excellent moving experience.

Completed the entire check-in process a week in advance, received the access code, unit number, and everything. Once I arrived at the facility, my access code did not work. I called UHaul and was told that my reservation was no where to be found. I had to redo the entire process over the phone with the representative (who was great!). There is also no one that physically works at the location, so no in-person help.

Worsts move experience ever. I will not be moving with you guys again. Customer service was awful and I returned my vehicle on time but was still charged an extra billing period. The storage facility was extremely dirty and was told I would be provided a lock and my unit did not have a lock. Could not get in touch with the check in facility. Kept saying the number they provided me was disconnected. Had to contact customer service over and over and was put on hold for hours only for the call to drop and everytime this happened the rep did not have the decency to give me a call back. Just overall and awful experience. Will not be recommending to my friends.

I used this storage facility because it had 24 hour access and was the most affordable, when I rented the space, it was owned by another company at that time. When Uhaul bought the facility they changed the hours of access, which I didn’t realize until I couldn’t get in when I went to pick up some stuff. It is a self serve facility where you never interact with a human being so it’s hard to understand why they limited the hours of access. At any rate, it was fine. If it’s a convenient location then there is no reason not to use this place unless you want 24/7 access.

When I rented my unit in 2020 it was owned by Federal Storage, great customer service and quick to help with my needs. U-Haul purchased the facility shortly after we started renting and that was fine until May 2022 when I closed my account - moved out of the unit and uploaded the information online like they requested. Then I started getting emails and letters about liens on my unit. Well liens on their unit, I didn't have anything in it. Apparently, no one monitors the website where you upload your information for closing an account and Brandie doesn't answer her phone or her emails because I quickly called to get it cleared up. I even went to the facility on New Raleigh Rd (70) and rented trucks and then told them about it, nothing changed. Finally after receiving the last letter at the end of June, I took it over to the New Raleigh Rd location again and stood there until my account was closed and I got it in writing that it was done so finally it was over. I got an email on my way home saying thank you for the business, hate to see you go, will you leave a review on our website. So here it is. Hope I never have to rent from them again because it seems that someone can't do their job correctly.

The storage unit was full of someone else’s things when we arrived on the property. There was no property manager on duty, as the office has been closed. When I called U-Haul for assistance, I was placed on hold and my call was transferred out of state. I had to wait at the storage facility for over 1.5 hours with a full moving van and moving crew. Since then I have tried to contact U-Haul for assistance and I have not been able to reach a live person in my geographical area.

I received excellent and friendly customer service from Derrick, the manager, when I rented this storage facility on Sedwick and from his store on 2422 East US HWY 70 in Durham. He was professional and curteous and always made time to answer any questions or concerns I had. I would highly recommend this storage unit and the Uhaul facility he manages.

THE STAFF ON SITE WAS VERY HELPFUL HOWEVER THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY STORAGE AVAILABLE FOR THE SIZE I RESERVED AT THE LOCATION I RESERVED IT AT. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY UHAUL ALLOWED ME TO MAKE A RESERVATION THAT CAN NOT BE FULFILLED. I NOW HAVE TO DRIVE FURTHER AWAY AND PAY $40 MORE PER MONTH INSTEAD AT A DIFFERENT UHAUL LOCATION

One problem was there was no one at the office, only a phone number. Only went with someone because one of the sliding doors was shot and the glass door was shattered. They need someone there. Have u haul security check it or the police. I was nervous going there. It is hard to keep any place safe now.
