The dolly was already loose in the truck and not checked before I left and so I was mistakenly charged when returned. Also, the check in process was long. The attendant mistakenly entered the wring fuel amount and I was mistakenly charged again. Eventually, the incorrect charges were refunded.

Vehicle smelled like marijuana and cigars, when leaving noted that the gas gauge was just above 1/2 despite being told it would be at 3/4 upon pickup, this cost additional cost in gas so that I wouldn’t be charged additionally by U-Haul.

Great service! I never rented a trailer before and didn't know what to expect. It was seamless, quick easy out and really helpful assistance from the desk and in the lot hooking up the trailer (and explaining)!

Upon returning my vehicle I was charged a $9.50 refueling charge, which should not have been charged. When I went into the location with photo evidence that the fuel was where it was supposed to be I was immediately accused of having done something wrong and that it was somehow still my fault. Love going into a business, giving them my money and then being told how everything I did with that business caused them trouble. Suffice it to say, I will not be using this location EVER again. Unfortunately, there are not many options for renting trucks and vans as I would start to consider other options if I could.

The location and staff were great. The vehicle, although brand new, was in very poor condition, obviously just put back together after a significant crash. The drivers side of the vehicle was taped and riveted back together, the drivers side door wasn’t bolted firmly to the frame - leaking air and rain inside. This vehicle really needs to be pulled from the fleet and sent for rework.

The truck I rented smelled awful. The person who cleaned it told me they “sprayed it down real good.” When in reality they hung about a dozen air fresheners throughout the van. I didn’t have time to argue, so I just accepted my fate. Terrible experience

I could not figure out where the gas tank was for the Ford cargo van. Had to call, and then ask the young man who answered the phone to find out from someone else, since he didn't know, to get the answer. Interesting place for the gas cap!

Understaffed.. unfortunately. The employees who are there are very helpful , patient and kind. Also why require 24 hour notice for access to a Ubox when every time Ubox never moved to be accessed. Happened in Austin repeatedly ( thought it was just that location) and happened in Chicago.

You do not have enough staff to meet demand. I was in line for 30 mins to check in plus the actual process. It was packed with people. The clerks could not keep up 1 customer after another and constant 10 people in line. They were very professional and tried to do best they could. Would not recommend because it's awfully busy and require to dedicate 1-2 hours that I do not have.

You need more people in the store or on the phones. Training for phone calls would help too. No one should be left on hold for 30 min without as much as a “sorry for the inconvenience” checkin. This happened multiple times too. And what’s with dodging calls entirely and sending to UHaul customer care who just has to do the same thing. Units were fine. Hours were fine. Customer care was not.

The manager Mike as well as the rest of the staff Keyomi, Lou etc go out of their way to make sure you have all your moving needs in place. As far as the moving truck, packing supplies and storage unit that is an appropriate size for your belongings. I highly recommend this facility. And feel the security makes a woman who needs to go into a unit at any time of the day feel safe. Staff Keep up the great customer service at the Portage Park location.

I purchased a storage unit, the initial employee who set up my account was AMAZING! I was on auto pay-had the storage paid successfully until March 2022 which is when I decided I will take out my belongings. I spoke to a woman who removed me off auto payment, she understood that I was closing my account, she advised me to come in get my things and we can take care of payment. I still had a few questions so I called two days after my billing date, a gentlemen I spoke with was so rude to me, he ends up arguing with me about billing. I reiterated that the money didn't matter, I'm trying to understand how the process works for closing a storage unit---he still wants to argue with about the MONEY?!?! I was a good standing patient on AUTO PAY! My point is treating me less than a great customer is unacceptable especially in customer service. After our call I was charged for the Unit and a late fee after (conversations recorded correct?) I specially asked to settle my bill upon my arrival because i was still confused regarding the process of closing a unit. Which was never answered!!! BTW The audacity! Also, that same day I was also locked out of my storage that same day-this isn't over.

Very clean facility with good accessibility. We had trouble resolving at least two issues (over a 7 month period) via telephone and emails. Emails were unanswered. Tried calling multiple times at different times and calls were unanswered, eventually bounced to call center in AZ, where staff referred us back to facility, which we could not contact other than showing up in person. This was difficult as we were out of town, and was a frustrating experience. Other than that, the facility met our needs.

I can’t complain too much the location was very clean, i would just recommend for the lights on the timers to be on longer we were in the storage unit and the lights kept going off on us. I would also recommend better signage on truck returns we ended up going to the wrong side to return the truck and had to go all the way around to bring it in the right side. When I was returning the storage unit another family did the same thing so I’m sure it’s an on going issue

The worst experience ever ! ! ! When I made the reservation I was told I 'd get a dolly but when I got there ... I was told with almost maniacally by the man that they didn't have any ! Like he got some sort of thrill out of it ! But that's peanuts compared with the out right lie that I'd get a locker on the first floor I'm almost 62 and am on SSI with a misaligned spine , high blood pressure and diabetes. I But when I got there I was told it was on the 2' ND floor and would have to c arry my boxes and bins up one flight,across a tier,down the stairs,up a flight of stairs and down another tier ! I had to go to another facility who accommodate d me professional y and without a problem. I am filing a complaint with the BBB and with the Illinois attorney general office for fraud not to mention the appropriate socal media not to use your corporation for anything what's so ever

I was not ever told that there is a few for 24 hour storage so when I got there it took about 30 minutes to even get to the point where I had access to the storage. I have an upstairs unit and the ramp up is impossible. Spent over an hour trying to get my UHaul and trailer back down off of it. I had to use the restroom in the facility and someone was there listening to music, sounded like a party. It was overall just way too much for me.

My person was very helpful in changing my original reservation to a larger unit, although there was some confusion about whether I indeed had a reservation to begin with. Facility was clean and provided multiple carts for unloading/loading.

The trucks are dangerous. The ramp is dangerous, the storage units are tiny and overpriced. And the lock you’re forced to buy are terrible.

There was a single employee present and a long wait to be helped. Once I was assisted during checkout the employee was so rushed that he couldn't process my transaction properly. He offered no information on how to access my unit. I attempted to access on my own immediately after being checked out and I was unable to access any of the doors. I returned to ask why and found out he never processed the transaction. I then had to wait again for the single employee to come back from 'hooking up a trailer' which was partly true, the smoke break being the other.. Then this employee was unable to read credit card numbers on his own, I had to repeat phone numbers and card numbers repeatedly over 10 mins for him to finally be able to actually process the purchase of the unit. I then had to ask him multiple questions on how to access, where the unit was located, etc. as he offered no detail proactively.

I explained my storage needs to a young lady who attended to me, in which I let her know and showed her one of the bikes i needed to store. for one there weren't any storage space that could accommodate my need, except for on the top floor of the building and the rest were to small. She had told me that the space I finally settled on only had four steps leading to the space, when it was actually 4 flights of stairs making it totally impossible for me to get my items to the space since there aren't any elevators. Seems to me she needs to understand the layout of the facility a bit more, Info was deceptive and I left very dissatisfied.

This facility has an extremely poor layout. In order to access the unit, you have to climb a super steep ramp that ends in a tiny landing. Good luck getting a moving truck up there. How is there no elevator?!? I rented a unit and then immediately moved out.

Veronica was very polite and helpful. She even gave me a water bottle after I asked if there was a Coke machine. (I was extremely thirsty after moving everything into the facility on a warm, humid day.) My only suggestion for the facility would be to put in a little ramp of concrete to cover the big bump at the threshold between the parking lot and the indoor storage facility. There's a big bump whether you go through the large garage door or through the small door next to it. This makes it difficult to push a fully loaded cart over that bump and into the building. Otherwise, it was a smooth experience!

I went to drop off my stuff on the storage only to be blocked off by all the Trucks, so I had no access to the drive up ramp not only that but, there was a lock on my storage unit that I did not have the key to so I couldn’t take anything in it even if I wanted to. Had to come back the next morning to unload.
